Been going to Edgar's for many years and tonight was disappointing. Food was great but our order was not correct. Plus we received our salad before our appetizer. Our waiter did not know how to serve wine or open a bottle correctly. We saw other waiters not trained properly. No class, too casual of attitudes for an upscale restaurant. They need to train their personnel better. Also waited for an hour for our meal when not very busy for a Saturday night. read more

My husband and I always talk about trying this place, but never could figure out a good time to go. We finally went and I wish we had tried it earlier. The complimentary bread was very good. They charge for refills but the first helping was very generous. I had the pulled pork Cuban salad. It was delicious. The chef smokes his own meat and the pork was so tasty. The cilantro vinaigrette complimented the meet and the other toppings perfectly. My husband had the grouper salad which he enjoyed but did not think the saffron vinaigrette was very good. Unfortunately, the service was pretty slow for a week night. My husband ordered a beer and the waitress forgot to pick it up from the bar for 15 minutes. Great service! Our waiter was Justin and he was fantastic. Martinis were great. Got the sautéed calamari and stuffed banana peppers for appetizers. They were both good, not great. Next, the salad. That was definitely good considering there was quite a bit if bleu cheese. For my entree I ordered the scallops. I was very impressed not only by the scallops, but the cream sauce and sweet potato hash. My companion ordered smoked prime rib. The smoked flavor was very good. Ridiculously tasty food consistently! We've eaten at Edgars weekly since it opened five years ago, and meal after meal is delicious. Chef Glenn updates the menu often enough and offers great unexpected specials, but he knows exactly who he is a chef - and he pulls off fantastic flavor profiles, consistently cooked, and always presented with a lot of love and soul. Every smoked item on the menu is insanely good, and everything else is just crazy good. We like to call Edgar's "the country club" for the rest of us. It has the amazing western sunset view over the manicured city owned golf course, and the casual atmosphere of a club house, plus the most diverse customer base in town where it seems EVERYONE feels welcome. read more

This was my first trip to Edgar's. We had a very positive experience and will be back. The chef really seems to like his smoker, and that's a good thing. Walking into from the parking lot, we passed a Kamodo smoker. We started with the Smoked Barbeque Pork Cheek with Arancini. The sweet, smoky pork and sauce worked well with the cheesy / crunchy rice ball. Creole Stuffed Grilled Pork Chop was excellent. The chop had some kind of brine with a hint of smoke. Stuffing was tasty and sides, asparagus and potato salad, complemented the main dish. The daily special was a Barramundi filet, topped with a spinach, calamari salad. Fish was prepared well. Salad was fresh and well dressed, but the squid had a little too much lemon. Wine bottles are reasonably priced, with a good selection. People of Bath / Copley / Fairlawn, there's more to dining out than Montrose. Give Edgar's a try. read more

We have been going to Edgars for years and every experience we have had has been incredible. The food is always perfect, every week they offer new and interesting​ specials, they never disappoint​​. We were there on Saturday night and our server Dino was so friendly and helpful, he took care of all of our needs and was very friendly and happy. I will definitely​ ask for Dino next time we stop in. Try the red beans and rice, its so good, and they give you a big enough portion to take home plenty of leftovers​. read more

If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. Saying that the service is terrible is a compliment. Upon arriving the hostess barely acknowledged us, that I could get past. Once we were seated it took 10 minutes to get water. And then we sat for an additional 20 minutes and not one person came to our table to even get a drink order after a total of being seated for 30 minutes!! There were 5 other tables (dead) and a dozen staff members just walking around aimlessly. I've never witnessed such horrible service. After sitting 30 minutes with not even a drink order placed we walked out, went to Papa Joe's. At Papa Joe's we were greeted and seated promptly. And our drink orders were taken 1 minute after being seated. I will never waste my time at Edgar's again. I want to see businesses succeed and this business doesn't have a chance with their subpar service. My advice: don't waste your time. read more

A group of us (4 women) went to Edgars to celebrate a birthday. We had been there on several occasions because the food is, simply put....amazing! The is the ONLY reason we go back. The service is consistently bad....seems to be getting more lax. We waited over 15 minutes after being seated for someone to bring a pitcher of water and 4 glasses. All set on the side of the table. After we each grabbed a glass and poured our own water, we were asked if we would like something to drink. We ordered our beverages and asked if we could put in an order for appetizers at the same time. We were told "just a sec". She brought 4 plates and a bread basket..all set on the edge of the table. About 10 minutes later. Our drinks came in about another 10 minutes and then we were asked if we were ready to order. I said yes...for appetizers AND we should place our dinner order as well. We had been there almost an hour by that time. Our apps, and salads came about the same time. The meal was not far behind and then the waitress kept asking if we were finished with our app and salad plates. All of a sudden she was in a rush to clear the table after basically ignoring us prior. I don't get it. If I get hungry for Edgars again, it will be takeout and I don't have to worry about a tip for extremely poor service! read more

This was the second time we came here for dinner. The first time was amazing. Food was great and out server was awesome. This time the food was great, however the food took about an hour. The server made a comment on the long ticket times and disappeared for 15-20 minutes. It didn't make the situation any better when, as a customer, your watching the kitchen staff in the dining room watching the jazz band playing instead of doing their job. The server finally got someone involved after it was too late. They comped the wine bottle we had, but we weren't looking for something for free just the same experience we had on our first visit. We used to love Edgar's... We came here on Wednesday night and have only been here a few times because of the location but always tell people to check it out. We got a bottle of wine that was pretty tasty and ordered a prime rib medium rare and I got the filet medium. The boyfriend wanted it cooked a little more and admitted that maybe he ordered it wrong for his liking. Right before he mentioned that I looked at the bottle of wine to see how much was left becaues I was out. I noticed that there was maybe a little less than a glass left but didnt want to pour anymore yet. The waitress/bartender glanced and tilted the bottle then threw it out. We knew how much we had and that there was no way it was out already. When she was finally done talking to her friends on the other side of the bar we got her attention and mentioned that we thought there was some left. She assured us there wasnt but didnt offer to show up the bottle since it was placed in the garbage can near and it was placed in there upright. She could have appeased us and shown us the bottle. If we are wrong then fine but by not showing us you look guilty. I think she was trying to get us back for sending the steak back even though he asked if he was wrong. My steak was ordered medium and it was under cooked btw I tasted blood when I ate it but I didnt say anything because I didnt notice until after that happened and I was full anyway and knew I would be reheating it. So yea I doubt we will be coming back. Guess we will find another place to spend $100 dollars on a meal. Very sad. read more

Me and my husband's family decided to try this place for Easter dinner. First none of the meat was cooked right. The brisket was so tough we couldn't cut it with a steak knife. The chicken was also undercooked. There was no bread to be found anywhere in the place. And to top it off they took a 10.00 mandatory gratuity for the waitress bringing our drinks only. This place has great Yelp reviews so my fiance was dying to take me. Perhaps our expectations were set a little too high, but for an $70 meal (before the tip), we were severely disappointed. Where to start... The atmosphere was decent but once we actually took notice of decor, we realized it was a little off. The rustic feeling would have been okay but someone had hung colorful sparkly paper butterflies and flowers from the ceiling sporadically. It was weird. The waiter was nice, but he seemed like he was trying just a little too hard to impress and was somewhat inattentive. We were told bread would be coming out and even had small plates sitting at the table, but never saw any. We ordered cocktails: a mojito and lychee martini. The mojito was delicious. The martini was pleasant to smell as it smelled just like lychee. The first few sips were good, however I grew tired of it and didn't want to finish it. My fiance polished off the last few sips but commented that it tasted like mouthwash. Maybe I'm not martini person. Both of our meals came with dinner salad of which we chose white french dressing to top. Now, this place was certainly trying to be upper-scale. In my experience, upper-scale restaurants have a house dressing that the salad gets tossed with prior to coming out. These salads, however, came out as mixed greens (including some iceberg), a few cherry tomatoes and slices of cucumber and the dressing in to-go style disposable ramekin cups with lids. This..this was confusing. Our appetizer came from the specials list our waiter offered - oysters. Granted, this was a first for my fiance and only the second time I had had oysters. Again, maybe we're not oyster people because we were left quite unimpressed. The dinner menu looked awesome and we had trouble choosing which delicious thing to stuff our faces with. In the end, I chose the Creole stuffed pork chop and he the herb-grilled sirloin. Now, I am definitely a pork chop person and I love seafood, but this was just kinda weird. The pork chop was thoroughly mediocre and the stuffing also just ok. It came with grilled asparagus which was yummy, but this was all atop a huge helping of creole potato salad. My first reaction was, "Why are these mashed potatoes cold? Oh...is this... potato salad?". It was just strange to have a warm pork chop sitting on top of cold potato salad. It just didn't mesh. And who even serves potato salad with a fancy dinner like that? In my opinion potato salad should be reserved for picnics and BBQ. It also had some sort of seafood in it which confused my palate. I had to check the menu to make sure of what it was. The sirloin came with fingerling potatoes and an arugula salad. Yes. Another salad. What. The potatoes were extremely meh. The steak however, was WTF worthy. He ordered it medium rare and it came out well-done on one side and medium-well on the other side. Of all the things to screw up, you overcooked the steak? Come on! Why even ask how we want it cooked if you're going to burn the crap out of it?! This was such a rookie mistake. For as much as we paid for this meal, it should have been flawless. We are flabbergasted at the ratings this place received because it was one of the worst meals we have had in a long time. I have no problem paying $70 for a meal, but I expect much more than what we got at Edgar's. In my opinion, they need to re-think the menu (maybe have less items that are better thought out), work on execution, lower prices and take those weird butterflies off the ceiling and stop trying so damn hard. read more

8 of us had dinner Saturday evening, and we were excited to try, based on a few recommendation from acquaintances. I rather wish we hadn't. My french onion soup tasted like it was from a can- and came out with my salad. The salad dressing had too much mayo in it (and I believe was the culprit for my food poisoning) and the beef short ribs were firmly attached to their bone, and as dried out as you can get for a hard tough piece of meat, which should be slow cooked to perfection. The mushroom ravioli had suffered a similar fate, and were tough. The prime rib was thinly sliced and had very little meat to fat ratio (mostly fat!). The t-bone was similar. The menu is extensive and I would advise trimming it to a few things that you do extremely well, rather than offering items that are not made well- or even from scratch. We had a party of 6 and everyone loved their meal. I agree with some of the reviews that say it's nothing like Crave and in my mind, that's a good thing. The menu has SO much more to choose from and I personally think the food is not only considerably better, but the portions are no comparison either. You will not leave Edgar's hungry! I was going to let it go, but can't. We were in a large party. Food was good. Service was okay. I made a point to look through the menu before we ordered to make sure that there wasn't an automatic gratuity. One member of my party said, she has a party of nine there quite often for lunch and they never charge a gratuity. So, mhy wife and I ordered drinks, wine, appetizer, meal, coffee drink. When we got our bill there was a 20% gratuity tacked on. I asked the waitress to show me where this is on the menu. She told me that she usually informs the customer before she takes the order, but forgot. I asked to see the manager. He tried to get me to leave 18%. I told him that the service was mediocre -- definitely not worth the twenty percent. I told him that I'd like to leave 15%. He said "okay." So, I changed the total on my bill and signed my check. I figured that was the end of it. But ... my Visa card came and guess what. I was charged the full 20%. I called the restaurant and left my name an phone number and guess what? No one has called me back. Right now Glen owes me $5.07. I will continue to complain in every venue I can until this matter is rectified. read more

We were just there on Friday 8/15 for a special occasion, my friend's 60th birthday. We made reservations two weeks prior for 6 at the round table in the southwest corner. When we got to the restaurant, they had put two round tables together on the patio for us. When we questioned the hostess, she said they had a party of 10 coming in that they needed the large round table for. First of all, if you are going to do that, then call me to tell me you're not seating me where I requested to give me the option of going elsewhere for a more intimate and pleasurable dining experience. Being separated at two different tables, it's very hard to hear and enjoy each others conversation. Let me just add, during the course of the evening only three people were seated at the large round table I had requested and I noticed shortly after they had been seated, Glen came out to greet them. Yep! We were there three hours, not because we are slow eaters, but because the service was sooooo slllloooowww. It was not our waiter's fault, he was as nice as could be and was very apologetic, he just had too many tables to wait on. We have loved this place in the past and I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Our friend had dinner there the night before and said the same thing about the service. We did have reservations there for this Tuesday, 8/19, for another birthday party....we will be going elsewhere....not sure if I'll give this place another try if this persists. read more
