    Veggie Asian Egg Rolls

My husband and I love this place but the last 2 times coming to this establishment, it kinda fell off. They NEVER have what we want on the menu.. my husband ordered a Heineken 0.0 and the waitress (hostess) brought him a Stella Artois 0.0 and without saying to him, "we are out of Heineken 0.0" we had reservations and paid to see a live band that was to start at 730 but started at 815 and went on break at 9. We were seated and Water was brought to our table but no one came to the table until 30-40 minutes later. it was the hostess at the front door. The same girl that brought the beer. She took our order which was only appetizers and they were not brought to us til much later too. I am very disappointed with this establishment. I only came back because my husband wanted to hear the band. It wasn't crowded. No one came to our table to see if we wanted or needed more water, tea or the beer that was brought. I have had egg rolls before and I have never had any that looked burned like these or recooked. So very disappointed. The band was great! :)

I ate here in 2021 and got more then i bargained for. What you are looking at is the queen sized prime rib. I was afraid to ask about the king size after seeing the size of this. I was so stuffed i couldn't even think about dessert. If your significant other wants a fancy restaurant but you want rib sticking portions for your money. This is the place for the both of you

    BBQ Rib Tips

My wife took me here for my Birthday. When she looked it up it said Fine Dining. Now, we already live in a golf club community and surprisingly found this establishment tied to a public golf course. As we walked in, we saw standard bbq grills on a side porch. The entry way took us pass a bar area with men in football Jersey attire. We went into the "dining" area that was literally empty. We were sat in a booth with silverware wrapped in paper napkins. ( Fine Dining) We then waited for about 10 minutes until a young lady asked us if we have been waited on yet. We replied no. She took our drink order. In about 8 more minutes a male server dressed like a patron sitting at the bar came over to take our drink order. We told him that we already placed our order. He returned with our water's and provided a " bendy" straw. ( Fine Dining) He also returned with my beer. Yes, a beer bottle and no frosty glass. In fact, no glass. (Fine Dining) Our salads came in a bowl that you can tell have been pre prepared in sitting in an ice cold refrigerator and was accompanied with a pre-packed salad dressing container. (Fine Dining) Our appetizers came pretty quick. The fried green tomatoes tasted like that were frozen then fried and not an item that I would suggest you choose. The bbq rib tips were not bad and plentiful. 2 minutes after we received our appetizers our main course arrived which really sucked. The server came to my wife offering hot sauce. She declined. I omitted that he offered hot sauce packets. ( Fine Dining) The main entrees we're just okay, but the expectations could have potentially met if the establishment listed their business as casual food fare and not (Fine Dining). For SAG I order cheesecake to go and the server had no idea if it was available or not. It was and it was just okay. I wouldn't recommend for anything other than just a basic place to go to. Oh, I forgot. Why were the collard greens so salty? So salty, you couldn't even make a second attempt. So if you need bendy straws, this is your spot. lol

Enjoying sitting outside on the patio at Edgar's

Had a great experience yesterday for sure We're from California, the friendly part where people are mostly still grateful. I've never been to Ohio and was grateful to check out Akron for sure. The place is beautiful and the food was good Especially Edgar's next to the golf course. The vibe was good as soon as we walked in. We sat out on the balcony with a nice view. The staff was all friendly, we encountered about 4-5 staff not including our server. They all had a good attitude and seemed happy to be there. I feel like our servers name was Danika (I could be wrong, spelling may be off all apologies if so) So was delightful, helpful, smiling and helped our overall experience in a positive way. She was on it from drinks, to bread, to salads coming out quick to paying attention to our orders and getting everything correct. You could tell she's done this for a while. Very attentive and made sure to bring extra napkins, drinks refilled, quality check ins to make sure we were good (I appreciate good service, and recognize it when it happens) it happened for sure at Edgar's She had a team around her as well who were on point to create an overall positive experience The food was good. I had the ribs with skillet potatoes, my wife and our friend both got a burger and both said it was good. My other fiend got a fish Sandwhich. I want to say walleyed fish. The bread and oil you dip It in was like no other. The blue cheese dressing is for sure homemade and really good. This was one of the best meals we've had so far in the last 3 days. I would highly recommend and go back again When Your traveling from out of state ? Doesn't matter from where. You always enjoy being treated well and taken care of. Good job to our server (seriously..thank you) Good job to the manager who sets the tone, you've got a great team We're grateful from California Mike S

    Lemon drop

Idk why this place has 4 stars. I only gave 2 stars cause the waiter was good. We came here for my daughter's birthday on a Friday night. Let's start with the bread, the free bread was half done the rest was uncooked dough. I ordered the seafood pasta the only thing it had was shrimp and a bunch of green chiles it was missing some other things that were supposed to be on the menu. My daughter ordered half rack ribs Mac n cheese and greens and let me tell you them greens was horrible. Canned greens tasted like a pound of salt the Mac n cheese tasted like old moldy cheese. Her friend ordered seafood gumbo. I have never seen gumbo so dry in my life. The calamari looked half done and the steak well it was just steak nothing special the mashed potatoes were dry. I would never eat here again I was very dissatisfied. The waiter was nice enough to take one of the meals off but we still paid over $100. Not worth it at all. And I see why nobody was here on a Friday night besides at the bar. My lemon drop was ok.

    Espresso martini

Atmosphere: They place is very nice and welcoming on the inside. It was a little hard to tell what it was from the outside because I think it's apart of a golf club or something. But I loved the lighting and the view out our booth was very nice. I can not say nicer things about our waitress. She knew we hadn't been there before so she went through the whole menu with us, picked out my wife's drink based on a number of questions she asked her which was pretty fun. Ended up with an espresso martini and it was probably the best martini either of us had. She had 2. She also recommended an excellent wine for me. Gosh I wish I could remember her name. Food: for appetizers, we had gotten the fried green tomatoes and the shrimp cocktail. The fried green tomatoes were not only a beautiful presentation but my wife absolutely loved them and devoured every bit with no pause (I got the shrimp cocktail cause I don't like tomatoes). The shrimp cocktail was also very delicious and very fresh. But that cocktail sauce. It's a lot spicier than any others I've had and that kick was so perfect! Best cocktail sauce ever. I was VERY disappointed that they didn't have jerk wings done on the smoker because that's what I was eyeing the whole time. I settled with the Edgar burger. I mean... it wasn't bad but it was just a burger. Cooked to my liking (medium) but just a normal burger you could get anywhere. When you got jerk wings on the mind, a not-so-flavorful burger doesn't slap the same way. I talked my wife into trying something new that night which is why we went to Edgar's, so she could try gumbo for the first time. I truly thought she would love some New Orleans style food. Wrong. It was beautiful but she hated the flavor. I however, thought all the staple ingredients and flavors were perfect. She ate the rest of my burger and I took the gumbo home. We ordered two desserts to take home and enjoy but right before we left, our waitress comes up to us and congratulates us on our new marriage and what does she do? SHE GIVES ME A TAKE HOME BOX OF JERK WINGS!!! Be still my beating heart. They were delicious! (I ate one on the way home) soooo fresh. Later that night we tried the lemon cheesecake and I have literally not been able to stop talking about it since. We WILL be back. Those jerk wings were life. And our waitress was a textbook example of the perfect waitress. Good job Edgar's! Can't wait to come back

Edgar's patio overlooking the golf course

Edgar's Restaurant is at Good Park Golf Course in Akron. It's known for southern and Cajun cooking. I've been to New Orleans many times, always loved the food. And on this night in Akron, Edgar's was spot on with pine nut grouper salad and a seafood gumbo with andouille sausage topped with soft shell crab. Amazing flavor on his special take of a Cajun standard. #neworleansfood #Edgars #cajunfood

The food. The food is very good. We tried three different wing flavors. The house made buffalo, the Thai chili, and the citrus jerk wings. They fell off the bone and were delicious. I would have to say the best wings I've had, these really did stand out, and would say they are worth trying. They are a bit pricier than other places wings, but the flavor is there. What we really came here for was the burger, we've been trying every place that the Akron Beacon Journal did a tournament for to determine our own favorite, without nostalgia influencing our decisions. The burger was fantastic. The meat is seasoned well and the bread was soft and fluffy. The sauce tasted homemade and unique, but didn't take away from the burger. The pickles on it as well are homemade or made from a company nearby, but they're also very good and different than any you get at the store. I will definitely be back. This was very good on a day where we stopped at 3 places and this happened to be the last.

Don't get me wrong: the food is fine (in the most mediocre sense). Full disclosure: We don't eat red meat, so I can't comment on their steaks, which is what the place is known for. This is a classic case of tradition masquerading as fine dining. There's no subtly or nuance to the cuisine. The oysters Rockefeller was overly sauced, and the salad was overdressed. My salmon was a bit overcooked, but the baked potato was very good. The dessert, a brownie with ice cream, ate like a Little Debbie squirted with Hershey chocolate sauce. I will say that our server was wonderful and was working very hard. The ambiance, however, was sad. We were seated in the bar area on very uncomfortable wooden benches. Honestly, it felt like a Cracker Barrel. At the bar was an obnoxiously loud man dropping F-bombs and saying homophobic things. He pretty much ruined any enjoyment we had a hope of having. Finally, Diamond Grille doesn't accept credit cards, which we knew, but again, our enjoyment was dampened by having to keep track of how much everything cost so we didn't spend more than the cash we had gotten out of the ATM on our way. The hostess told us they were planting their feet and never taking cards, and I just don't understand why, in the 21st century, a business would alienate customers like this. All in all, this place is resting on its past reputation, and in my opinion, it's unearned.
