This review is based on several visits to kingfish. If it weren't for my last experience I would've given it 5 stars. Kingfish is an upscale seafood restaurant with a modern nautical theme for its interior. The service has always been wonderful we've lucked out with very attentive waitresses/waiters. My top dishes are the blackened salmon and fried green tomatoes (except for the last visit). I took my father for a belated Father's Day celebration on Monday and the fried green tomatoes were either undercooked (or cornmeal was raw inside but burnt on the outside) or severely over cooked -hard blacken and dry. I've had them on several Occasions and they were great and perfectly cooked albeit that was on a weekend. Nonetheless my father loved his surf and turf. The bread pudding was rich and decadent. I didn't expect it to come out as a slice but it worked. Overall check this spot out even if just for a happy hour. If ordering the fried green tomatoes maybe do it on the weekend due to inconsistent cooking.

After living in FL for the past 8.5 years, my husband and I have some high standards for seafood. We didn't think it would be possible to find anything close to the quality we had been enjoying in FL when we moved back to OH, but Kingfish proved us wrong (for which we are very happy!). Here are the things we tried: -Lobster Bisque -Shrimp Cocktail -Grilled Salmon -Surf & Turf (Lobster tail and filet mignon) -Sides: Lobster mashed potatoes, Creole risotto, regular mashed potatoes, asparagus, and green beans Each dish was cooked to perfection! The lobster bisque was creamy and had multiple good size pieces of meat. The clarified butter for the lobster was served over a candle to keep it warm during the meal. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare. The salmon was moist and flaky. The service? Attentive and friendly. The vibe? Quite dim and moody, perfect for a date night. The price? It's up there, but you get what you pay for and it was worth the price to us. Comfort? The booth that we sat in had a pretty worn out seat, but I couldn't detract a star with how well amazing everything else was. We'll be back!

Kingfish is running a November special called "Lobster in the Land" for $49 that is an extra $10 off during happy hour and it was DELICIOUS. Included is a first course (salad or bisque) and second course (I picked surf and turf) with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Every last bite was fantastic, and so was our service from Lucy! 10/10.

If you're in Akron and craving seafood that's fresh, flavorful, and served with a smile, Kingfish should be at the top of your list. It's a place where casual meets quality, and every dish and they have an incredible happy hour! From fresh seafood and service I will definitely be returnin--and I recommend you do the same!

This was some of THEE best food that I have ever tasted. EVERYTHING was delicious. The lobster was buttery, sweet and it melted in your mouth. And this lobster mashed potatoes. . . bae bae . . . scrumptious! The service was excellent. Our server was super attentive and the atmosphere had a nice chill vibe. Because it was my birthday, I received a free dessert of crème brûlée. I was creamy with the perfect amount of sugar crust and fruit. It's a 30 minute drive from my house. I'm already trying to figure out when I can make it back there.

Stopped by Kingfish with my wife for our wedding anniversary dinner. We made a reservation and when we arrived, we were promptly seated. A minute later, our server arrived and was very friendly. We were given menus and our drink requests were taken. Sadly, they didn't have any ciders on the menu, so I ordered a lager beer, which ended up being good. My wife requested mussels as an appetizer. They were served in a delicious, hot broth with tomatoes, garlic, and other yummy ingredients. The one ingredient in mussels that I hate is sand. The mussels were large, but each one that I ate had at least one grain of sand in it. Sand doesn't have a great mouth feel. Ya know? That's why I don't love mussels in general. We were also served bread, which I dipped in the mussel broth, and tasted awesome. For dinner, I asked the server to choose between two dishes for me - Steak Diane and Pasta Newburg. He recommended the Steak Diane for a couple reasons. One reason was that it was being removed from the menu. The second reason is that I've never had Steak Diane before and he said it was absolutely delicious. So that's what I requested and my wife requested the crab cake dinner. A good while later, our dinners arrived. My steak and her crab cake looked amazing. Upon first bite, the steak was cooked correctly (medium), was juicy, and delicious. It had just a little Diane sauce, but I was expecting more it it. It didn't really need any sauce though because the steak was extremely tender and flavorful. It ended up being one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. It was that good. I also loved the mushrooms it was served with. The mashed potatoes were excellent as were the green beans. This meal was perfectly prepared. I tasted my wife's crab crake and it was yummy, but nowhere near as good as my steak dish. I finished all of it and was very content. This was an excellent meal!

Upon entering for our reserved time, we were taken to our booth, and left with menus. The first clue to our experience was no one asked if we would like our coats checked. Most 'upscale' places would have asked that immediately. I suppose folding our coats and laying them on the bench of the booth would have also triggered this conversation. Nope. An agreeable server greeted us, ask what type of water we preferred, and let us know where we could find their signature cocktails. As we scanned the menu, we noticed the prices were quite high, and assumed the quality would equal the costs. $26.00 for a Tuna Tartare, and $28.00 for the Steak Tartare seem a little above market. Also, they were asking for $4.50 per half shelled Oyster. Again, pretty high for this area. I usually order a half dozen, but I was a semi cautious, having been burned by local restaurants serving very small oysters. This was no different. I ordered 4 Blue Points, ( .99 cents in the grocery) and was shocked to see 2 normal ( again, for this area) and 2 very small oysters. Burned. We also ordered the Tuna Tartare, and again, it was just ok. Uneven chunks of tuna, atop a strange scoop of avocado( which we had to mash ourselves in order to gain a reasonable mouthful. We decided to have the Tableside Caesar Salad, that's always fun. Most places that have this service, will have a dedicated Maître de or Host create this for you~ we had our over worked waitress. It was 1 1/2 hours between being seated and a salad. On a Sunday. And a VERY over rushed waitress. It wasn't pleasant, and we felt bad for her. Needless to say, the dressing was rushed, therefore the proper amount of ingredients were not acceptable. There was a shocking amount of vinegar and Worcestershire, but how could you tell this poor girl you can barely choke it down? A pork Chop was ordered, and the evenings 'special' a New Filet Trio with a 1/2 lb ( just a leg) of steamed crab- deshelled $60 for the trio and $80 for the leg!!! This is where my lesson comes in- ALWAYS ASK MRK prices, at unfamiliar establishments. My bad. We also order off of there side menu, since we were all in by now. We ordered the gloopy mash potatoes, the polenta they had to take off the bill since it was inedible, and the 4 pieces of grilled asparagus that came smothered in parmesan cheese?? (why on earth are your smothering fresh asparagus in shaved cheese??) My poor husband was 3 Barrel aged Old Fashions in ($18.00 per) and I was 2 Paper Planes ( $16.00 per and was meh) by the time was had our waitress box the entire meal, to be tossed out at home. Because we were embarrassed! At one point, a 'hostess' came over and said " sorry to interrupt, but how was everything??" Listen, she could care less how our meal was, because she directly seated herself in the 'private' dining area next to us, with a full compliment of wine bottles behind her and 3 glass walls surrounding her, and began eating her own supper. Closed off to any irritant she may experience. What absolute gall. Thank God the cappuccino machine was broken, it saved us $10.00 for one cup! Meanwhile, don't they require a dress code at his establishment? I won't say more... After paying our $500.00 bill ( for 2 ppl) we unfolded our coats, and proceeded out, with the 'hostess' engaged in what seemed to be a very personal, almost depressive conversation with a patron, and never bothered to excuse herself to send us off with even a 'thanx' ~ Oh KSL- Lesson Learned. And yes, the overworked waitress received a $50.00 tip. She was lovely and my only hope is she finds a better establishment to work in.

It ended up being such a pleasant surprise. We all went for the $13 Pizookie Meal Deal, which felt like a great value--an entrée plus a personal Pizookie dessert. If you've never had one, a Pizookie is basically a warm, gooey cookie cake with ice cream on top, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. My wife, my son, and I all ordered the All American Smash Burger. The two smashed patties, the melted American cheese, the signature sauce--it all came together so well, and the fries hit the spot. My daughter went a different route and got the Southern Fried Chicken, and she couldn't stop talking about how good it was. The pepper cream gravy and the corn and red pepper succotash really added something special. Not only was the food delicious, but our server was genuinely kind and attentive. Little things--like checking in at the right times and making sure we had everything we needed--made the meal feel even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was comfortable too: lively enough to feel fun, but not so loud that we couldn't talk and enjoy each other's company. Overall, our visit to BJ's turned into one of those unexpectedly great family meals. We'd happily go back, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty, relaxed dining experience.

Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told they're no longer on the menu--even though they still appear on the website. Our waitress explained there's a new manager and they currently don't have access to update the online menu. The atmosphere felt cold and very empty when we arrived, so we asked for something warm to drink. The only options were Coke products, so five of us settled for simply a cup of hot water. There were nine of us total, and the food came out sporadically. We tried to wait until everyone had their meal, but the timing made it a little awkward. On a positive note, I ordered the House on Fire Jalapeño Popper Burger. It came with crispy bacon, cream cheese, and jalapeños. The menu said the jalapeños were deep-fried, though I only received soft ones. However -- the burger was cooked perfectly. I asked for medium, and it came out pink inside, which told me the patties are made fresh. My side was the homemade potato chips, but they were just dry fried potatoes without much flavor or crisp. Once everyone finally had their food, the waitress disappeared. I ended up going to the bar myself to ask for water, and was handed a plastic cup with no ice. We didn't see the waitress again until she came around with the checks. The good news is: They do take credit cards The restaurant is wheelchair accessible -- but only if the correct parking spot is open. Once the lot fills (about 10 cars), the incline makes it nearly impossible for a handicap van to park safely. My burger, fries, and cup of water came to about $15. Overall, I'm not sure I'd return. My friends seemed to enjoy their meals, but between the missing menu items, slow service, and lack of warmth in the atmosphere, it just wasn't the experience we hoped for.
