Don't ask how I live less than 15 minutes away and have never been here. What a lovely little gem! Apparently, this place used to be Mediterranean, but they're going for a more American approach now. I was viewing the menu online, and it's very different compared to their menu in person. I'm not sure if that's due to them revamping it? Anyway, as soon as I entered, the whole restaurant smelled delicious and fragrant. The layout is really nice and feels more upscale compared to a lot of places in the area. For drinks, I ordered water and a drink called a PB&J. The PB&J was beautiful! For my meal, I ordered the pan-seared salmon. It was served over basmati rice and sautéed green beans. I'm going to be thinking about this meal for a while. It was fantastic. The lemon dill sauce that was poured over everything was so freaking delicious. It was also plated beautifully. They have a large range of desserts as well. We were told what desserts they had and then tried to order a coconut sorbet but were informed they actually didn't have that available (along with some other desserts). We ended up ordering a tangerine sorbet instead, and it was super refreshing! It came with baklava too, which was the perfect addition. Honestly, while my drink was very pretty, it was the weakest part of my experience. It mostly just tasted like a sweet syrup. I'm hoping I just ordered the wrong thing this time around. There are so many more things I want to try on this menu. The food was top-notch, and I can't wait to come back! read more

So good that I'm surprised it's not a michelin star restaurant. The food was fabulous.

Hubby and I had a date night here a few weeks ago and it was one of the best experiences I've had. This place is clean, neat and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The hostess was lovely as she greeted us and sat us promptly. Our Waitress was super friendly and extremely patient as she answered our questions about the menu. The food came out timely and hot! So very tasty! Dessert was to die for. I cannot say enough great things about this place! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Definitely will go back!! read more

Laziza and team are amazing! We had an event with 30 people to celebrate a work anniversary and birthday. Ryan was wonderful to work with. He stayed within our budget and curated a customized drink menu for our group. The food was delicious. Everyone was raving about it and some folks scraped the last bits from our table of appetizers to take home so no bite was left. We can't wait to come back. This is a favorite spot for our celebrations. I highly recommend this place for a group or a small table. The salmon and lamb is out of this world! Don't miss the hummus. read more

First of all the staff at laziza are fantastic. Very attentive and kind. Second of all the food at laziza is splendid. Everything is freshly cooked and comes out hot and flavorful. Lastly, the environment is amazing. It's quiet and a great place to go for a date night or a nice dinner. Prices are normal to slightly high but the food quality is what requires that. read more

We had an outstanding time. Great food, great drinks. Relaxed yet upscale atmosphere. The wait staff is always top-notch and extremely kind to us - this time Avery was our server and she knocked it out of the park. We brought our 1-year-old, and everyone always goes out of the way to accommodate us yet still keeps the place classy for the rest of the patrons. Can't recommend enough. read more

Service was good and the interior is decorated well. Chef came out and talked to people, checked if the food was good. I thought my meal was well seasoned but with meat and onions on one skewer they cook at a different rate. Onions were done but beef was well done. read more

What an amazing experience. I don't go WOW! very often regarding a meal at a restaurant, but Laziza was unbelievable. The food was beyond expectations. We ordered the Mediterranean Fries, Braised Short Rib, and the pan seared Salmon. The proportions were very good, worth the money. Took all three home . The fries were the best fries i have ever had, and believe me i have had fries from everywhere. The Braised Short Rib was suggested by our waitress , and she was accurate when she said it was amazing. The Salmon and the Rib just melted in your mouth with a mild complement of spices. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very pleasing to the eye, and was warm and inviting. The service was great. Sloan was our server but many people were attentive to our needs. I don't write many reviews, usually just good ones, because it is so hard to find great experiences. The restaurant was filled to capacity by the time we left. Obviously, other people know what I experienced. These people who are associated with the restaurant care about what they are doing. It shows in their attitude. They deserve for this restaurant to be successful. If you are looking for a great dining experience , and you are from Kent you have to give it a try. If you are from outside the area , like I was , it was a great choice and worth the drive. read more

I dined here with a friend last night and had an excellent experience. The atmosphere was intimate and tasteful. The service was attentive and friendly. I ordered a half order of the Mediterranean salad and thought both their house dressing and salad were excellent. I also ordered the chicken shawarma with hummus and added some broccolini. Each component of that entree was cooked to perfection. I will definitely come back! read more

Solid food and friendly service in downtown Kent. Delicious salads and plenty of good vegetarian options.

Location: 195 E Erie St. Kent, Ohio Website: http://www.yourlaziza.com/ Parking: street parking and lot parking within 2 blocks Service: Excellent Price: Expensive, but not totally warranted Beautiful restaurant with a Mediterranean menu. Food is good... but not in the same caliber as the price point. I would suggest limiting your visit to a cocktail and a starter. The dinner menu is priced about twice the price it should be... The quality and quantity of ingredients are good, but flavor was underwhelming overall. read more

Excellent experience for dinner! Our server, Nadeem, was attentive and friendly. The food was outstanding. The Manhattan was hands down one of the best contrails I've ever had... just perfect with bullleit rye and luxardo cherry. Amazing food, service, and setting. We eat Mediterranean food frequently and Laziza ranks up there with the best of the best.

The wait stuff was excellent. It is a little pricey but I guess everything has gone up during COVID. The Laziza french fries were tasty and the portion was monstrous. We had the dip trio of hummus, baba ghanouj, and tabouli. All were fresh and tasty. My wife had the Mediterranean pasta which she said was good if a bit heavy. I had the falafel wrap and it was excellent. All in all a good experience. Not my favorite spot for Mediterranean food but certainly worth a visit. read more

We hosted a baby shower at Laziza and this place was absolutely amazing! The food and staff were the best! Thank you Ryan!

Nadim was a very personable and helpful server. We shared the sampler appetizer. The falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, and tabbouleh were all delicious. Love that you also get some tahini. Wish the pita bread was warm, though. The chicken shawarma was excellent. The vegetable noodles were a nice and unique surprise. The downtown Kent space is beautiful and warm. Definitely recommend. read more

I came here with a friend on a Wednesday evening and I regret not taking photos but the food was outstanding! The restaurant is large and inviting - a pleasant upscale surprise from the other middle eastern restaurants I have eaten at lately. The menu is large and has a lot of great option for vegans and vegetarians. My friend ordered a small Mediterranean salad and we both had the chicken shawarma hummus platters. She subbed broccolini for her vegetable and I subbed Zatar fries for mine. I had a side of the garlic sauce which was excellent. I loved the sliced almonds they added to the dish for extra flavor and crunch. I am already planning when I can return to eat here again and looking forward to left overs tonight. Service was very good, the restaurant was super clean and I think this would be a great spot for a date night. Parking is on the street and a bit limited but that's what you get in downtown Kent. read more

My girlfriend and I are so silly and we kept singing, "I took a pill in Ibiza" while we were here. The truth, however, is that we drank a Cosmo in Laziza! Which, even though Ibiza sounds marvelous, a fabulous cocktail in a tasty Mediterranean restaurant just might top it. I mean, especially because the pill part doesn't sound too ravishing. This was one of the first days restaurants were open after Governor DeWine's big shutdown on March 16. It still feels eerie seeing all of the servers and bartenders with masks, however if it can protect them or us in any way, it's certainly worth it. We had an absolutely amazing server named Rachel - shout out to her - she was such a trooper dealing with talking to us through her mask which I can't even imagine doing in the service industry. I wear one for work in an office environment only in common areas and that's nothing in comparison to a full day on your feet mask in tow. She was super knowledgeable, down to earth, positive attitude, friendly, patient, funny and oh-so-welcoming! You have a real gem in her and we were so grateful that she was the person we encountered as our first steps into the dining world again. My gal pal adores the Baba here - that's short for babaganoush for any other noobs out there. She kept saying "oh my gosh they have the best Baba here - I swear they have a following!" I totally played along like Baba was all the rage and I knew exactly what that meant, but until I read the app menu I was cuh-lue-lessss! It was really good though! Who doesn't love freshly mashed chick peas? I'll be completely honest with you Yelpers because you know that's my thing - I'm not super nuts about Mediterranean food itself but I LOVE the vibe of Med-y places. Not short for medicine. Just trying to be clever. Quarantine made me weirder than normal, it's true. ANYWAYS. I thought the chicken shawarma was definitely good and loved the spices. I was a little underwhelmed by the zucchini and squash but that was to no fault of anyone else - I probably should have gotten a different side with a little more pizzazz. No doubt it was healthy though! I really enjoyed the scene looking outside at downtown Kent and chatting away every single thought and emotion with my fun companion! read more

Had a decent experience here for dinner. The atmosphere is really cool. I love their color choices and decor. It was fairly busy on a Friday night, but not so loud that you couldn't have conversation. It was pretty relaxing. We enjoyed the falafel appetizer, and my wife's beef shawarma was wonderful. The beef had some really nice Mediterranean flavors. Both of us said we would order it again. I got the Laziza platter, which had a chicken, steak and kafta kabob. The steak was pretty good, but I wasn't as big a fan of the other two meats. Kafta is one of my favorite things, and I just didn't get much of that Mediterranean flavor I like it to pack. The chicken was really dry and didn't really have any flavor. The good news is that the dish was a huge portion of food, and I ate it all. I didn't hate it, just a little underwhelmed for $24. I believe they used to have sandwiches/wraps on the menu, but they no longer do. At least at dinner time. read more

I can't believe we stumbled onto this great restaurant in downtown Kent Ohio! We came to town to enjoy a concert at Kent Stage ( an old theater getting restored) and viewed the menu prior to dinner. It looked great, but was better than expected! Good service, and great food, plus generous drinks at reasonable prices. The only thing lacking - the restaurant is a little noisy when busy. BTW - try the paella. The right mix of rice, spices and seafood! Excellent! Don't miss this place! read more
