Great place to be on a Friday night with friends. It was very busy, lively and great for causal outing. The interior was stunning, with tall open ceilings and arched windows and design details that made the space feel open and aesthetic. They offer a great selection of beer, cocktails, shareables, and sandwiches! We started with the ale and larger samplers and ended up getting a whole pitcher.( I forgot to take pictures, we gulped down too fast). I had the sakura spritz, which was light and refreshing with a nice yuzu finish. For shareables, we ordered Bavarian Style Pretzels, Bacon & Beer Cheese Fries, and Nashville Hot Cauliflower Wings. I personally enjoyed the cauliflower wings. They had a spicy kick, were very crispy and paired well with the drinks. The patio is dog friendly with gravel, so bring a blanket and bowl if you want your pup extra comfortable. The staff was kind and helpful. I had a half house salad with their house garlic vinaigrette and truffle pierogies with caramelized onions that were absolutely delicious. I also ordered a five beer flight and enjoyed every one. I was surprised to get in on a Friday night with no reservation with only a 20-ish minute wait. It was nice because we were able to get a beer at the bar and sit in one of the lounge areas during our wait. The renovated church is such a cool space with a unique ambiance. Once seated we got a flight and pretzels to start. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the offerings and suggested a few other beer samples based on what we enjoyed from the flight and our dinner pairings. We had tiramisu for dessert. Wow! What a great addition to downtown Kent. Lived here for 14 years and came back for an event---heard through the grapevine this was a great spot.....and it was. Went here today as a stop along the bike trail. First time. Beer was good. We ordered an app to share with our beers- dip and some chips. A half hour goes by, our first round is done and I ask what's going on with our order- waitress tells us she is gonna check. 15 minutes later we get our chips and dip. Our beers were empty well before this, but waitress didn't bother to check. She finally brought our food, I asked if she forgot to enter it and I give her credit for admitting it. We ordered more beers, after the app was about done, another servers brings us the wrong beers. At this point I was done. Food was ok, beer was ok- service was horrendous. A total hidden gem! Found myself in Kent for business. My conference ended early and I remembered I had seen Bell Tower on Instagram and decided to check it out. I'm so glad I did! I did a beer flight. There were so many options that made it hard to chose but I was open to trying anything. The tasting was a great experience, some were better than others (according to my taste buds). They have a great food selection as well! Nice to keep the good vibes going. Bell Tower... a hot spot must! What a cool concept of turning an old church into an updated bar/restaurant. This spot markets themselves as a brewery but had such a large cocktail and food offering! Our friend previously had tried the beer and said it was very yummy while this round, we all got cocktails (blue dream, negroni, and vodka martini). All of our drinks were delicious and had a cool presentation element. While we did not indulge in food, we saw many plates go past that looked to be a great portion and very intriguing. I could not rave enough about the interior and service. The inside played a nod to the church theme while still being updated, calming, and cool. This drew in a good mix of demographic from older college kids to adults. Every staff member we interacted with was so nice and even during last call, our server gave us the time to decide if we wanted another or not. 5/5 stars with no hesitation! My husband's chicken paprikash was mediocre. My parents thought their burgers were mediocre. We've also ordered appetizers here in the past and thought they were excellent, so it could have been an off night or the menu might just be hit or miss. We definitely think the beer is hit or miss here as we've had some we love and others we really dislike. The service was very good despite the degree of busyness. Our friend picked this location while we were in the area camping. It has a beautiful interior as it was formerly a church. There were six of us and they asked us if we had a reservation which we did not have. It was Sunday at about 5:30. They quickly sat us though. We were provided with menus and specials and our server was not aware of what the special was nor did she know what was in the Paloma. We ordered the trio of pretzels to share and the beer cheese and the mustard were very good. Didn't try the goat cheese because I'm not a fan. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and a side of fries as the sides are all a la carte. The Cuban was good-needed more of a pickle bite so I'm glad it came with a dill pickle spear on the side. The fries were also good-but the house made ketchup is not a match. These fries needed your go to ketchup or at least one that didn't taste very similar to tomato soup. Malt vinegar would have also worked well with them! We asked if they had any other ketchup and the server knew the question was coming. This tells me you need to lose the ketchup and make the people happy. My husband ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and it was perfectly cooked! When we arrived, it was busy on a Saturday night, the wait was estimated for over an hour. We grabbed drinks at the bar and took them to the upstairs level to wait it out. Luckily, we didn't have to wait long and way less than the estimate. I love how they reinvented the church into a beautiful and trendy brewery. The space is thoughtfully designed and utilizes every inch. As a designer, I appreciate the branding too. Ordered the pomegranate mojito, it was refreshing! My girlfriend and I were in Kent for the day and decided to try Bell Tower while brewery hopping. The brewery itself is in a nice location with an inviting outdoor seating area. I had high hopes for this brewery. When we walked in and walked up to the hostess stand, we had to wait to be acknowledged while the girl finished her text. Once we made it to the bar, we again had to wait for nearly 5 minutes for the bar tender to ask if we wanted anything. There was no one else sitting at the bar. The beer itself, a west coast IPA, was very bitter and not enjoyable. We will not return. read more

The atmosphere is awesome here! It's so cool how they renovated an old church to make a beautiful, unique brewery. They have an adorable outdoor patio without coverage (RIP if it rains), that allows dogs! It's lighted and adorable, would be lovely on a nice day. It's mostly street parking here! We parked across the street in a visitor parking spot with a 2 hour limit. The inside itself was great and excited. There's tables in nooks and crannies (though they aren't spaced out for COVID-19) but a good amount of seating inside! There's a balcony upstairs where you're allowed to hang out with drinks but can't order food up there. It's a pretty sweet view from up on the balcony, there's a bunch of windows and plants up there and a few tables. You are also welcome to stand and there's a lot of ledges to lean against. They told us it would take an hour for a table to open up and it took about an hour and fifteen minutes, but we just hung out upstairs on the balcony drinking. We ordered a meat and cheese plate ($12) which was pretty good with tomato jam, crackers, 3 types of sausage and 3 types of cheese. We also got pretzels (3) with 3 types of sauce (spinach, cheese, spicy mustard). Buddies got flights of 5 for $12 and I got their stout which was pretty good, chocolately coffee flavors. It didn't take too long for food to come out. I ordered a chicken sandwich with bacon, Mayo, and micro greens and it was a major bummer :(. The chicken was super burnt, the bacon was burnt, but the French fries and homemade ketchup was awesome! So yummy. I hate sending food back but the chicken was super burnt so they remade it for me. When it came out the second time, it was still burnt but the bacon wasn't as burnt. It was still pretty flavorless and overall a bummer. My friends really liked their food though! My friend got the bratwurst and loved it, a friend got a veggie burger and had no complaints, and a friend got a powerbowl and really enjoyed it. Stopped in for a beer after my brother's graduation from Kent State after hearing about this place on Instagram and was very impressed! The brewery is absolutely beautiful and has a very sleek, minimalistic look to it inside. The place seemed very clean and well-maintained. We brought our beers upstairs to the loft and had the whole area to ourselves on a Saturday afternoon. I enjoyed the beers I had and my favorite was their tart ale. This review is a week overdue, and our experience was so good that I can't really believe I've put it off. Atmosphere & Service: If I didn't know that Bell Tower had recently opened, I wouldn't have been able to tell by our first visit. We went on the Friday after Thanksgiving without a reservation, with the expectations that it would be busy...which it was. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait for a table for two and that we could grab a drink at the bar and hang out upstairs in the loft, which we did. Within 10-15 minutes of arriving and barely getting upstairs, we were alerted that our table was ready. Perfect. Everyone hostess, bartender, and server we interacted with were super pleasant and helpful. Beer & Food: We tried the Marzen, Kolsch, and a Red Ale-all we're very good. Again, you would never know that this is a new brewery. Bell Tower is modeling German brew houses, and the beer is on-point if you're into German beers. I was truly surprised, as we've been to other local breweries who have yet to hit their stride in their beer selections. As for the food, we only had pretzels. But, they were equally as good as the beers, coming with three unique dipping sauces (cheese, mustard, and spinach/cilantro...I think). Definitely try these. All-in-all, I was truly impressed with the awesome vibe, great staff, and even better beer and food. It's a great place to come and chill.
