But I really have to rant and rave about the best, most delectable, perfectly balanced salmon dish i've ever had anywhere at any time... the Seared Wester Ross Salmon dish, which came in a large bowl. Just went to this place for the first time. The service was amazing. Olivia who was serving in the bar area that night was amazing. She knew how to pace a dinner and not hover over but checked on you a the right times. The atmosphere in the bar at a high top table was great. The food was also very good. First of all, we had reservations on February 14. They overbooked and after standing for 10 minutes, we were offered seats at the bar. The hostess seemed like she was in over her head and had no idea what she was doing. I ordered a martini. It was put in a square glass and I wasn't given an olive. It was not a martini. My wife and I had up here about every ten days or so and haven't been disappointed ever. I switch up between the burger special the pizzas and the brisket fries which are a large app. The wife usually gets a salad and shares whatever I'm getting. The service is always good. When Bistro on Main first opened years ago, it was one of my go-to places. My husband and I loved it. Then we became vegans, and there's not a single vegan dish on the menu and barely any vegetarian options. We recently added some meat back into our diet and decided to go back last night (after 8 years)! We were disappointed. The food is overpriced and unremarkable, the service is fine, the ambiance is fine. It's all just okay. The plantain chips appetizer was probably the best part of the meal though a bit haphazard. My sangria was delicious. The pizza was under seasoned. The mangia pasta was out of a box and too salty. The desserts were fine but had clearly been sitting around a while. In the bar was live music, and that was entertaining. I think this is the kind of place that's great for drinks and appetizers but not necessarily for entrees. read more

This time they said the only way they would not put cheese on my burger was if I paid the regular price. I chose to order nothing. I've been to Bistro a few times now, and each visit has been better than the one before. Everything from the food to the atmosphere is very unique for the area. We made reservations for dinner and were surprised to discover there was a live music event underway in one of the dining areas. Between the quality of the food and the live music ambiance; we declared this a great find. The menu is available online - but I highly recommend waiting to finalize your selection options until you can review the specials. We ordered three entrees and one starter - half our order were specials and we absolutely loved everything. Let's start with our service, particularly our server. We were waited on by a few people - from clearing our table, taking our orders, delivering our orders, but what stood out outside this teamwork was the expertise to describe an extensive list of specials from memory - it was no surprise we landed on ordering from the specials. At one point, I was looking around at the decor (it's very charming) and our server noticed and came over in case I was looking for her. So charming. The food was outstanding. The price was quite fair for the quality and portion size overall. Our order: 1) starter: we shared an order of "6" chicken wings. Expertly prepared and perfectly crisp with the perfect consistency of sauce and seasoning. Let me tell you - we savored our ration of 2 wings each. Delightful. 2) Entrees: we negotiated family style for our chosen orders. That is - we each ordered one item but shared them equally (kinda). Our choices: "Grown Up" Mac & Cheese. Macaroni & Cheese featuring lobster, shrimp, and large crumbles of ground sausage. "Pork chop" was a double-thick bone-in pork chop served with maple candied sweet potato and onion hash. Absolutely delicious. "Wagyu meatball pizza" was the perfect addition to our trio of entrees. We were hard-pressed to select a favorite of the three, declaring we would want these three items again - but honestly .... I distinctly believe anything you can order you are going to absolutely adore. We were far too full to indulge in dessert but let me tell you - the dessert menu is impressive but dinner was so good we didn't miss dessert at all. Tips: 1) make reservations (call if same day) 2) arrive hungry; but be prepared for a wait for courses. Trust me - it's worth every single minute. Food this good should not have to be fast. You won't mind. 3) If you "check in" using Yelp; you receive a coupon for a free dessert with the purchase of an entree. 4) be prepared to take home half your entree if you want any chance at all of being hungry enough for dessert. I went here with my mom and husband a couple weeks ago on a whim, my mom had been before and we were in the area and ready for dinner. The atmosphere wasn't the best I have experienced but it felt artistic and clean. Our service was fairly slow and honestly not what you would expect from a nicer restaurant. However the food... delicious!! I had some of the best scallops I have ever eaten in my life accompanied by tasty and well-prepared risotto and crispy sage which kicked it up even more notches. My husband loved his brisket so much that he was talking about it for a week! It was tender and had a smoked/BBQ flavor without actually having BBQ sauce on it and was served with yummy veggies. Extremely slow service. Took over an hour to get our meals which consisted of just soups and salads, no entrees. The woman who dropped our food off was extremely snappy and rude as well. One of my friends ordered the soup special, which was Italian wedding soup, but what she got was some kind of stew. We asked our waitress about this and she said the soup special got changed and she wasn't aware, which is understandable but she failed to come let us know this and decided not to say anything at all until we asked. Wow, just wow! Bistro On Main is absolutely incredible! I hosted a party here and everything was perfect! Christa, the manager, made sure the party went smooth and we had everything we needed. She was easy to talk to and her communication was beyond spectacular. All of the food was delicious, my favorite being the coffee rubbed brisket. We had more than enough food as the portions were plentiful. Our party was on the patio and it was perfect despite it being cold outside. There was a beautiful fireplace and heaters that kept the space comfortable. It was a beautiful setting. I recommend having a party here! read more

We brought friends to Bistro on Main. We called to have for four at the bar. Yes, reservations to sit at the bar because of the popularity. The bartenders Krista, Nancy and Maddy are very nice. The plantain nachos are delicious and my wife's favorite. The friends had the brisket and were very pleased. Krista recommended the osso buco and she did not steer me wrong. I went to college at Kent State and have lived in the area for the past 20 years and recently visited Bistro on Main for the first time. I can't believe I waited all of this time to try it because it really is one of the best places in town! They have different specials each day of the week so be sure to check out their website. In addition to their standard daily specials they also have other specials available that probably don't rotate with the others. Some of our favorite items are the focaccia bread (which is absolutely amazing with their dipping oil) and their Brussel sprouts. You really could just go for those two items but then you would be missing out on other things that really are fantastic. Their nachos are really good and are served on plantains instead of tortillas and they have goat cheese and guacamole in them. I think this is a very unique menu item and I haven't had anything like that anywhere else. Their salads are really good and offer a lot of each of the ingredients (like nuts and cheese!) and you will not be disappointed in their burgers. Their fries are memorable and the service is always good. When you visit for the first time, they suggest that you go online and register to receive their offers. We came on a Wednesday for their "Cheap Date Night" and had a really good experience. Very nice ambiance inside, with a quieter dining room, and a lounge room with a bar. Great place for an anniversary or date. Our server was very bubbly and did a good job of selling us on all of the other specials they run throughout the week. Cheap Date Night includes a full bottle of wine (or pitcher of beer), soup/salad, choice of pizza or pasta entree and complimentary bread. It's a really good deal, considering wine alone costs 20-30 a bottle at most places. The bread and dipping sauce they give it is fantastic. Thick crunchy edges and soft inside, and they brought more out as we gobbled it up. Corn Chowder soup was what you'd expect and the baby blue salad was great. They use mixed greens and had fruit, nuts, blue cheese crumbles and a balsamic dressing. It didn't have iceberg lettuce, and that's really all that matters ;) We both got the Sweet Potato Gnocchi entree. It was superb. I've never seen it on a menu before, so not only did it taste great, but it was very different, which is what I usually seek out. The gnocchi had a maple bbq glaze, chèvre, onions and spinach. Made a last minute reservation for a large party (of 7) and they accommodated us without any issues, despite having some other large parties as it appeared to be high school graduation that day. Some live music was playing, but it wasn't too loud and we could still hear our conversations. I appreciated the music and liked that it wasn't obtrusive. Everyone's food came out at the same time, and for the most part, everything was accurate and tasty. One order of brisket fries never made it to the table, but our server took them off the bill, and it honestly wasn't a big deal. I had the chicken parm meatball pizza, and it was seriously delicious. Drinks were also tasty. I definitely want to come back soon because it was a great experience. Went here for the first time on Valentine's Day with my husband. We made a reservation and were seated right away. A little surprised they didn't really have much of a Valentine's Day menu, a few apps and drinks but no entrees really. My husband got the sweet potato gnocchi because it had all of his favs, sriracha heat and cheese and the ability to add pulled pork, which he did. He was glad he added the pork or he said it may not have been filling enough for an entree. I got the filet and it was cooked perfect to medium like requested. It looked small upon delivery but was very thick, I was satisfied. Food and service were good and one of the highlights was actually the bread basket app. The sweet butter and vegi spread were both savory and delicious, I wish I could buy that vegi spread in a jar! Only downfall was when you check in on yelp, you can get a free dessert. I showed this to our waitress and asked if there was a certain dessert we got or If we could choose and she told us it's any dessert but they normally don't accept that offer unless the coupon is printed out. Really? Yelp is an app. You're advertising the free dessert on the app, which 9/10 people are likely accessing from their smart phones. Nobody prints that coupon, don't lie to me. It's all digital for a reason. She acted as though she was doing us a favor, saying "she'll honor it this time but know in the future it must be printed." You're not fooling me, hon. We got the cheesecake and the pistachio crust was a nice, unique touch. Service was otherwise good despite this annoying setback. read more

Our party was in a back room that could be opened or closed to the restaurant and there were probably about 30 people there. Here's everything I tried at the dinner, it was all soooo good! I would definitely go back! Crispy Brussels Sprouts - GET THESE! Salty, sweet, crispy, crunchy deliciousness! You can really taste the honey and red wine vinegar combination and it's amazing! Tacos - I couldn't find these on the actual menu, but they were like a braised beef taco. The meat was really moist and worked well with the lettuce and chesse. Baby Blue Salad - The balsamic vinaigrette on this salad was SO GOOD! I would order this again just to eat the dressing! The candied nuts and bleu cheese were also great! Fire Charred Flat Iron Steak - Seasoned perfectly with creamy mashed potatoes and yummy asparagus! Seared Atlantic Salmon - This came with crispy spinach, red pepper orzo, and a balsamic reduction. I'm not a big red pepper fan, so I was a little worried about the orzo, but it didn't taste like red pepper to me at all. It was the perfect compliment to the salmon! Creme Brulee - The creme brulee was so cute and delicious! Mille-Feuille - I honestly had no clue what this was and had to google it before I ordered it haha It was really good though! It was like a puff pastry with a vanilla and lemon sauce on it. It was sweet and fresh which is what I wanted. Moscow Mule - Holy Moly, these were tasty and strong!
