Wil's is a very popular Portage Lakes pub and grille. Prices are great and affordable as is the food and the portion sizes. Service couldn't be better and the staff is so friendly and outgoing. Wil's has just been sold to the owners of The Industry in Green on Arlington. Unlike Wil's, The Industry is a very upscale and expensive restaurant. The food is good but it remains to be seen if it is worth it. Personally, I cannot afford to make it a habit. I need to keep it for very special occasions. The fear amongst us regular Wil's crowd is that we will soon be seeing the affordable pricing and great menu being replaced by the more upscale owners. If that happens, then another affordable restaurant for seniors and the older crowd will have gone the route of so many others. Wil's has been around a lot of years and has survived the highs and lows of the restaurant world. They MUST be doing something right. My pleas to the new owners is if it's not broke don't fix it! This restaurant was very clean. The service was fast, friendly, and the food was delicious. I had the walleye dinner. My wife had the Reuben. She said the Reuben was one of the best she's ever had. Becky, our server, took great care of us and made sure our drinks were full all the time. read more

Whoa! I'm in shock and saddened by the turn around here. We've been regulars for years. Now the food is awful and the service has slid right down the same slide! Won't be back. What a shame! Broasted chicken is always dry. It's like chewing leather. The to go sides are about one-third the size of what is served at the table.

Will's Grille and pub is a neighborhood staple. It's a cozy setting with some outside space as well. I particularly like the high booths and enjoy the friendly banter between the servers and customers.. All of the sandwiches are quite plentiful and the salads are huge , but lack any particular distinction. All of the dinner items I have tried have been successful. Been to Wil's a few times the last year. We enjoy their daily specials, particularly the liver and onions. I can recommend their fried chicken and fish dinners, and you have to get their Cole Slaw as one of your sides. The service is good. The place is small with the dining area and bar sharing one room. As a negative, I think their pricing has gotten a bit high for the atmosphere and type of food they serve. Having said that, Wil's remains a good choice for an evening meal. read more

We Love Wil's - great hamburger, Friday's perch and walleye are excellent. Small quaint - we pretty much stick to the above. I will say it's not cheap - but we don't mind paying for the quality. We went for Friday night fried walleye and the fried fish did not disappoint. Nice portion, moist and tasty. My sister had her's sautéed and the skin was burnt and it was dry. I suggest for these gluten sensitive guests they add butter, spices and throw it in the broiler wrapped in aluminum foil. The sauerkraut ball appetizer appeared to be commercially sourced as they were not sauerkraut-y tasting and dry. Finally the coleslaw was tasteless. I doctored mine with oil, vinegar, salt and pepper . Overall the reason we went was for the fried walleye and it was good. They could up their game in these other areas though. But the place was packed so I guess folks are happy. read more

Have been by this place hundreds of times and finally stopped in. Very small inside so when you get a good crowd there and only one waitress apparently things can get hectic. Not really a place I would bring my kids again just due to the overall atmosphere but not holding that against them. Appetizer sampler was crap except the little firey strips of chicken with cocktail sauce for dipping. Fish and chips were pretty good. Good portion of both and hot when coming out. Burger was good. Came in for Saturday date night with the hubster. We have been before and loved it so we decided to come back. This is a great little ole whole in the wall joint that the locals are familiar with. They have a small dining room and a tiny patio area. What they lack in size, they way exceed in variety, quality and atmosphere. They have daily specials and reasonable prices. The interior is a pub/bar style with dining. Tight space but somehow still comfortable and charming. The staff is ALWAYS so welcoming and excited to see you (reminds me of Cheers). Most days you will even be checked on by the owner! I decided on the New York Strip dinner. My husband had the Cod dinner special. The rolls were so yummy! Our food and beverages came out quickly despite all tables bein occupied. My steak was cooked to perfection..no steak sauce needed. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal as well. Sorry I can't second that opinion as fish is gross in my book lol. Would definitely recommend locals and even non-locals to give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Friends of ours went here recently on our suggestion, because we've gone here for years. The food was always good. One of the women ordered some fish, but she didn't like it. She said she'd pay for it, but the owner went nuts and yelled at her, "There's nothing wrong with that fish! It cost me a lot of money!" Everyone just sat there, shocked.
