As you enter the Blue Door Cafe, immediately to your left is a small Bakery Service counter, with a beautiful display case. It smells so good in there! The chicken was perfectly crisp and flavorful, and the biscuit? Flaky, buttery, and clearly fresh. You can tell by the layers alone. One of my favorite touches was the butter bar--whipped butter, honey butter, maple butter, plus jellies ranging from classic to bold (including habanero and even ghost chili!). Such a fun and thoughtful detail. My friend ordered the Silence of the Hams, a playful take on eggs and ham: a fresh flaky biscuit, fried egg, two generous pieces of grilled ham, and melted cheese dripping beautifully over the sides. I spent time as a waiter in two different restaurants, so I'm sympathetic, but I did not get a drink refill, and I wanted one pretty badly. This is one of my favorite breakfast spots, and it feels like a hidden gem.
