Waited a full hour for our food. Only one other table with customers yet owner came to our table twice to apologize for the wait due to the "rush". (We didn't see anyone come in for carry out either.) And even with the apologies, no adjustment on bill. Omelette was like rubber. Potatoes were cold and hard with no taste. No butter on or with toast. (Picture looks better than it was.) Really disappointing. Maybe better for something other than breakfast, but that wouldn't help the ridiculous wait time. read more

Very sickening experience. Kitchen was very dirty looking as there mystery stains on the walls. "Chief" was wiping his sweat with barehands and cooking food without washing his hands. He also did the same thing with raw hamburger meat. Bar was leaning off the wall. The clearly dairy condiment never went into the cooler my whole visit. Diner 42 is a hidden gem. It's across the street from Schoolhouse Scoops, a popular ice cream shop, and I believe there is a connection between the two stores: get a meal at Diner 42, a dessert at Schoolhouse. Diner 42 has a simple menu, but that's good. Everything is fresh and on point. Good burgers and dogs. I really enjoyed the Italian beef sandwich. They also have wraps and salads for people who want to go a bit healthier. It doesn't look like much on the outside, and the interior decor is nothing to write home about, but don't be deceived. First time trying the diner and we ordered takeout. Honestly, the service was awesome and the staff was so friendly. Cute little place and actually a large drink menu! We didn't get drinks, but I looked through their menus when I went inside and waited for our food. They have indoor and outdoor seating and it's definitely a super casual friendly little spot. Unfortunately, it's a low rating for this dive bar. Food quality is the lowest you can buy. Chicken tenders are the frozen kind that are pieces of chicken. Watery gross ranch. The fries were served so greasy. I will say the bartender was very polite and attentive. Not clean place at all. My shoes were sticking to the floor! I was pleasantly surprised when staff ordered lunch from here recently. I ordered a French dip sandwich with fries. Fries were fresh cut and tasty. Sandwich was good as well. The two drawbacks were that they did not have onion rings despite advertising them and they did not have any ketchup packets for the fries. Definitely will have lunch here again. read more

i should have said something to our server... our sodas were both very flat. Danielle ordered the pulled pork sandwich and fries. i ordered a Polish Boy and fries and a small chili. When in for dinner an hour before closing. There was six of us, no other customers. Asked for coffee, the one employee there looked at the pot and said, "we're out." WTH. Watched the chef scratch his butt, then with not washing his ungloved hands grabbed my fries and put them in the takeout tray. Then touch his face and assemble my burger. The walls were covered in grease. The takeout tray shelf has had grease pooling in it for so long that the grease is leaking behind the wall mounted shelf. I didn't realize that was possible. The work area was dirty and nasty looking. And I just threw out my burger. It wasn't worth the potential food poisoning. Also there is about a 4ft ring of grease around the exhaust fan on the side of the building. Pretty certain that's against fire code. You order at the counter, and grab an open seat. It's a small place, but I went about an hour after the main lunch time, so there were seats available. I was pretty hungry, so I ordered a double cheeseburger, with all the fixings, and fries. The service was great and the food came out fast and hot! The fries were fresh cut and very delicious! We pulled in with about 15 friends last night and enjoyed the view from the deck. Nice selection, well cooked food, and a truly friendly and hospitable crew there. We've passed this gem for years and when friends said, "We're meeting at...." decided it was time to try it. So glad we did. The Italian chicken sandwich was great, hot fresh fries with vinegar, and a cold drink made for a perfect meal. We have to go back now and try the double-cheeseburger (amazing looking but my friend would not share any... LOL ) Such a nice time. My only regret: we didn't eat there sooner. We stopped in for breakfast and were greated in a friendly manner and everything was explained to us. We ordered different items. However, then when I observed the kitchen, I was quickly turned off. Raw meats were handled without gloves. A piece of what appeared to be beef was walked to the slicer; again with bare hands, and this followed directly by the handling of bread. The meat was was left in the slicer at warm temperatures; at least 30 minutes and remained as we were leaving. Nice looking place with patio but won't be back without some changes. read more

The good news - I have eaten here twice and the food is pretty good and the prices are excellent. The bad news - The food does take a little longer than expected to come out, the decor is horrible, parking is in the back in a dirt and gravel lot. The TV both times was playing Frazier from Netflix. If they have Netflix, just subscribe to asking and play live TV such as Food Network or ESPN. I also tried to order via phone so I wouldn't have to wait. The owner who answered the phone said that couldn't be done. They couldn't write down and order and hand it to the chef so it could be ready when I arrived? That is weak sauce. The owner is nice and since it is so close to where I live, I would love to see the place succeed. Small changes could really make Diner-42 successful long term. read more

Very good food and a good value for the family. Not at all fancy, but everyone's meals were fresh and delicious. Our family of 5 ate for around $26, including beverages- that never happens. Very friendly staff. We will definitely come back. Would be good for take out, too. read more

The server was very nice and suggested we order the Italian beef sandwich. It was delicious, with a dip for beef juice. We had the chili which was also good. Both were homemade so we ordered right. There was at least 1 good thing about my meal. It didn't make me sick. I had a meatball sub and a cup of chili. That chili was the worst chili I've ever eaten. It tasted like burnt tomatoes. The sign out front claims "home of the best burger " ... according to whom?Food is alright ... frozen meat ...literally heard the cook toss my frozen burger patty on the flat top when I got there even though I callled my Togo in 10-12 minutes before I got there so I had to wait and then after I left with my Togo my frozen burger patty was cold in middle so I ate the edges because I was hungry . Have to always search for napkins and condiments from other tables ...I don't understand why I can't have a fountain drink with a Togo order (which I was able to when they first opened ) I am forced between a can of Mountain Dew or Pepsi or bottled water. read more
