Came here because it was a diner. Love diners. And I believe it was on New Day Cleveland and wanted to check it out. 3 of us went on a Saturday afternoon. It's a cute place and cute decor. Definitely diner decor. There were a decent number of people eating. Seemed to be a mix of Bfast and lunch meals being served. Also seemed like a lot of regulars because employees were spending time talking to certain tables. We got the roast beef open face with gravy and mashed potatoes, the patty melt with onion rings, and the BBQ burger with fries. The roast beef was bland. Needed more seasoning. The 2 burgers were well done. We both liked them medium rare. But we weren't asked how we like them cooked when we ordered. Onion rings were breaded and only got about 5. Fries were abundant and fresh cut. Much better than the onion rings. Overall the food was just average if not slightly below average. Prices were good. Parking plentiful. Service was not great. No one asked us if we wanted refills or to check on us. We had to ask for our check after we waited awhile. Probably not a repeat. read more

Awesome experience! This is definitely a super fun place for a meal. Love the 50's theme! We were able to seat ourselves. As soon as we sat down, a server came to the table with utensils, menus and took our drink order. You will want to save room for dessert here. They have custom banana splits. Everything we ordered was freshly prepared and tasted delicious! Food was seasoned just right. The meat was very tender! They have all you can eat specials, which we didn't do because we wanted to save room for desserts. Even though there is an ice cream menu, everything can be customized. I have to say we probably won't be returning here. The service was fine and the waitress was lovely. The tables were clean as well. Loved the 50's and 60's music playing as well. The food however was disappointing. My mother and father got patty melts and I got the western burger. When we first took our bites we noticed the texture of the meat was off and it had these holes in them. My dad noted they were probably tenderized. Then I noticed a few spots of mold on the bun. The pecan pie was good but I'm not sure if it was homemade. This may be one of those places you only go for breakfast but we're not going to take that chance. Either way, stay away from lunch. read more

The 1st. and 2nd time eating there was good. The food, service, and ambiance were satisfying. However, our food the third time was way below par. The swiss steak didn't look, or taste nothing like swiss steak, and the pop tasted like seltzer. They may have got a new cook, but we don't plan on going back any time soon. My husband and I always try to visit diners when we are traveling. Some are ok, but our dining experience at Dee's was excellent; from the delicious all-you-can eat spaghetti and meatballs to the delicious fish and fries! Our server J.R. who is the brother of the owner was an excellent host/server. He informed us of how each item on the special board is prepared., e.g., the spaghetti sauce which is cooked for 6hrs. The place has a 50's sort of vibe. The food was okay for the most part. My buddy had a country fried steak which he said was a bit grisly. The gravy was good. My French toast was good and the sausage was passable. The most outstanding thing was the service. This was on a Saturday morning and the place was packed. My table of 4 was never neglected. My friend and I stopped here for dinner while in Akron for the weekend, it was the best decision we could've made. The food was absolutely delicious, the brown gravy to die for. The food here is really good, all homemade. A lot of the booths and tables were already full when we arrived and just one server; JR. We sat down and more people came in, and JR handled it like a pro, and with good humor. In the middle of all this, the "smoker's pole" outside caught fire and, in a situation where someone else might panic, JR took it in stride and handled it perfectly without missing a beat or causing a panic. I have seen this place pop up numerous times when searching for places to eat. Well the other day my husband and I figured we would try it out and I can honestly say I was pretty disappointed... walking into the restaurant you get this diner vibe, which was exactly what I was expecting. We then spotted a table to eat at and as we walked to it, EVERYONE stared at us like we had 3 eyes! The service was really good and came out pretty quick. The prices were probably the best part of the whole experience- the food, on the other hand, was not good at all. I ordered a hamburger which had a funny taste to it and a mushy consistency. My husband ordered a melt that was saturated in grease and the same funny tasting burger. All in all, I don't see us returning... between the food and the awkwardness of people staring at us, just not worth the prices... read more

I like going to Dees. The folks are friendly, the staff will sometimes sit with you for a minute & the brother of the owner is a hoot!. They make going by myself pleasant, instead of 'awkward'. They have so many 'Specials' on their daily board, I always find something I like. People who have been around the area awhile remember the old Varsity Drive-In of the 50s & 60s that was there. Lots of good vibes around there. Oh, did I mention how good the food is. Its not a dressy place, more 'come as you are', not pretentious, just good ,filling, homey kind of food. I like their fish. We went for a birthday dinner with zero disappointments. Mom got breakfast with lots of options. If anything's unusual, Mom's the one to notice but she enjoyed everything. Dad got the all you can eat fish. Huge portion on the first plate! Think it was 6 good size pieces of fish. The fish had a nice crispy outside and it wasn't greasy either. It was awesome. The tarter sauce and slaw were both great too. French fries were pretty good at the start; you know how that goes. The child loved his Adult Chicken Fingers and Dad had leftovers of the first plate of fish. Little guy got a milk shake and Dad got a little. It was awesome and was made in a machine left over from the 50's probably. Really fun spot that's really cute. Prices are too low if you ask me. Better than the price paid. Don't go when they are busy! Came once for the all you can eat fish early in the day and liked it. Came back again on a Friday night and were sorely disappointed. Of our four dinners one never arrives at our table, and the other three were brought to our table by a minor who looked not even 15. Only the sandwiches, no fries . Drinks were never filled . The partial food arrived an hour after we were seated. After flagging down a waitress to cancel our missing plate and just try to take our cold food with us we finally got some service and boxes and some fries and left. They did apologize and gave a gift certificate for our troubles. The 3 stars are only due to the previous time we were there and that they tried to resolve it. Would give negative if possible. My 71 year old mother went in for breakfast with a group of friends on 10-17-210. All of the food came old to cold to eat. One person had a coney dog that was still frozen in the center. They metioned problems to the server and she was very willing to take care of them. She had to call the owner for approval. The Owner then called the police that this group were leaving without paying for their bill. Really called the police on a group of women ranging fron 40's to 70's????? It's understandable mistakes happen in a restaurant but to call the police on a customer crosses the line. We will never return and never refer anyone to this business. read more

Not a friendly place.The waitress (Angel) we had seemed preoccupied or in a bad mood. She did not bring creamer with the coffee and I had to ask for it. My husband ordered hot tea that arrived lukewarm and he had to ask that it be heated up.She did not offer me a refill on my coffee and I had to ask someone else. The second (waitress/manager?) made a snide comment about where my cup was placed. When our meal came it was over cooked and we had to ask for our orange juice. Then Angel only brought one glass.We had to ask for the second. I was again never offered more coffee..I guess my cup needed to be in a certain place before they refill.
