Garlic mushroom burger with fries and partial pickle(my doing)
    Frank T.

To start off, this is not my first visit to this establishment. Previous experiences however dictate my overall opinion of this place in this review. This was my third visit in the years since I've started my job nearby, in the middle of nowhere Ohio called Uniontown. This place is down the road in a tiny plaza in the middle of a Rite Aid and a State Farm insurance. Previous visits were subpar. I have a somewhat sensitive stomach, particularly when my body realizes food is either old or not handled properly. This was the case for the prior two visits in which I ordered salads and consequently became ill upon returning to work shortly after. But to focus on today's visit. I don't like to write off places where there is at least good service and hospitality, which this place definitely has. However, this visit would really make or break whether or not I ever come back here again. Place was empty when I came in, not very surprising. Ordered the garlic mushroom burger with fries and a water with lemon. They use paper cups for drinks. As I waited for my food, no one was around so I decided I'd take pictures, including the heavy handed God/"pro-cop" speech someone decided to type up and plaster on every booth in the restaurant. It was pretty cringe and based on others reviews, looks like they don't really care what people think or dont read these reviews anyways. Not surprising given the area we are in. Food came out greasy. Fries could have been down for a bit longer and the burger was mush due to not properly reinforcing the bottom from juices of the mushrooms and burger. Had to knife and fork the fries and burger. Not a fan of pretzel buns, but this one was pretty good. The bill came and I'm of the opinion that the meal, and menu in general, are overpriced based on the quality. The service was good at least. Overall, a typical grease pit of the area with hit or miss food that is overpriced based on the quality, ignoring the God and cop stuff they comfortably display in your vision as you eat. Strange layout, decent music. I haven't completely written them off, but I doubt I'll be craving this experience again any time soon.

    Food for Thought

Down about an hour away from Cleveland for work and decided to stop in this place just because I was hungry. Came in and was greeted and sat right away, booths along the wall and tables in the middle. It's a pretty cute place, with a mix of sports and throw back decor. Above the booth was a "food for thought" little rant about current events. Food was really quick and PHENOMENAL. Burger was huge and came with a ton of fries. Quesadilla was loaded with chicken that was soooo good. Onion rings were good as well, but overall this food was definitely worth the price. Talked to the owner about the rant on the wall and he mentioned that some people got offended. I'd definitely drive an hour to come back here!

Richard was extremely helpful and showed us where the garden department was located. Even the bags of dirt are displayed as beautifully as merchandise in a high-end store! After making our purchase, we decided to head over to the restaurant. We were warmly greeted and given our choice of a booth or table--we chose a booth. Our server, Josh, promptly offered beverages, and we enjoyed freshly brewed coffee while looking over the menu. I chose the BLT on a croissant with a side salad. The meal also came with fresh buns, available in either whole wheat or white. Josh told us that most people choose the white, which made me smile. The salad arrived almost immediately and included shredded lettuce, grated carrots, and two tomato slices with a side of blue cheese dressing. It was good, but the BLT--wow! It had more bacon than Miss Piggy could dream of. Unfortunately, there was no mayonnaise on it. I'm not sure whether it wasn't offered or if I simply overlooked it, but I added some to the half I brought home, and it was just as delicious later. I would highly recommend the BLT on a croissant. And if you have the opportunity, ask for Josh as your server. We were told we could request him, and honestly, I would go back just for his excellent service. Another fun aspect of the experience is the atmosphere. The place feels almost like a Las Vegas venue--huge, spotless, and designed to accommodate hundreds of guests. Despite its size, the service was outstanding. We even shared a few laughs with the dessert server. Speaking of desserts, you should see them--they're enormous! So, stop by the hardware store, enjoy a meal at the restaurant, ask for Josh, and save room for dessert. I highly recommend the entire experience and can't wait to go back!

Our server Ashley was very polite and had a nice smile and served breakfast with a flourish. We were there for breakfast with my order being the Corn Beef Benny (Eggs Benidict with Corn Beef instead of Canadian Bacon) and my brother being Corn Beef Hash. We are both seniors with much smaller appetites than in our earlier years. Both breakfasts were good with the Corn Beef being shredded rather than ground. Eggs came out as we ordered. My home fries appeared to be from frozen not previously baked/boiled, cut up and then fried. A bit tasteless. A few things stand out. * The Corn Beef Hash did not come with toast (as traditional). I had not expected it for my Benidict but was surprised that my brother's didn't. * The portions also were (in my opinion) small. My brother and I finished our meals without a problem whereas in our earlier years we would still be hungry. * They didn't have standard condiments associated with breakfast especially hot sauce. They had Cholula hot sauce, that is all. * The coffee in the carafe cooled quickly and allowed for only another half cup or so per person. I always enjoy when the server comes by with fresh coffee to warm up our cup and maybe exchange a few pleasantries. * While pleasant, Ashley left us the check without asking us if we knew how to use the process. Fortunately, I did. One disadvantage is I almost always leave cash tip if not on business but indicate on the receipt. With the new process, this was not possible. I still left a cash tip but gave 0 on the electronic bill. No where was there an indication if we didn't have the QR code savvy or wanted to pay cash. To summarize, food decent, server mostly good, price value not so much. At roughly 50 dollars, while good, I think overpriced. Would I go there again, probably not. I like a good old fashion type restaurant where there can be exchanges between the diners and servers.

I'd give this a 4.25 stars. If you read my reviews, you know that terrible car accidents happen to me after work dinners (see review on The Industry for one such example). Thankfully, dear readers, I did not have any car incidents after THIS specific work dinner. Haha! Anyway, The Bistro of Green is in a strip mall five minutes from my work office and is an institution for locals in the area - people in my group were reminiscing about coming to Bistro multiple times a month before Covid, back when they were open for lunch. The menu seems to change often. They do have a couple specials on a board outside the door that are not on their printed menu, just FYI. Our dinner took over 2 and a half hours, starting with complimentary bread and our drinks of choice. The free bread was fine. I ordered a seasonal cocktail, the Apple Cranberry Sangria, despite cocktails not having a price listed (see menu picture). I tend never to order things that do not have the price listed but the cocktail sounded too good to resist. It was yummy and very sugary and fruity, with added mint leaves that definitely brought it up a notch! Our party also split 4 appetizers: the hot peppers ($13), baked provolone ($14), calamari ($16), and flatbread ($16). As the portions are not meant to be shared between 10 people, I only had a little bit of each. I wasn't into the peppers (too mushy) but the calamari was my favorite! I could see myself ordering this as a dinner just for myself in the future. Two thirds of the hot pepper dish was ignored by the group in the end. For my main, half of which I took home as it was getting very late and my drive back home is almost an hour, I chose to get the Bistro burger (medium rare) and fries ($18). This was chosen based on cost alone - even though I really wanted a chicken or steak dish, I just could not afford them. I am only a lonely assistant, not a CEO! I debated getting one of the other sandwich options, also both $18, but the lack of pictures either on Google or Yelp made me just stick with a burger. My lack of funds kept me from being too adventurous for this dinner, sadly. Next time, I'd be down to try their fancy grilled cheese (or steak, if someone else foots the bill). The burger was good, although not amazing, and the fries were that nice mix of just oily and crispy enough. Service was okay. Things apparently got busy at the bar, so it took longer than it should have for us to get our drinks and food throughout the night. As for vibes, it was nicely decorated for Christmas, lights were dim, and Christmas music played softly in the background. No complaints here! In the end, for a sangria, burger, fries, tax, and tip (plus a 3% surcharge for using a credit card), my dinner cost me over $40. Can you imagine just how much worse the bill would have been if I hadn't gotten the cheapest thing on the menu? Next time, I will also remember to bring cash. And choose a more unique dish.
