Great food and atmosphere...reasonable prices. this is one of our favorite places to eat. A soft pretzel appetizer is amazing.

Solid spot! I'd heard good things about this place and finally checked it out on a Tuesday evening. We met another couple here and were seated right away. They have plenty of seating inside and a number of board games available but we just opted for dinner this time. It wasn't loud or dark inside so it was a nice place to have some good conversation with friends and not worry about hearing one another, haha. As for food, we ordered the giant Bavarian pretzel with added beer cheese dip to share and I went for the falafel sandwich with sweet potato tots ($3 upcharge) for my meal. The pretzel was delicious...I enjoyed both types of mustard as well as the cheese dipping sauce. I'd get that again for sure. The falafel sandwich was good but a bit dry - it was better once I asked for a side of hot sauce. The tots were really good but I didn't feel like it was a ton for the upcharge. My husband ordered the black & bleu burger with fries and enjoyed that as well. The service was great too - super friendly and attentive. All in all a tasty food choice in a good environment. Overall I enjoyed my experience. The server was very kind and struck up conversation. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. I was however dissapointed with dessert because it was supposed to come with gummy worms which was actually the reason I ordered it, but it did not. I also thought it was just okay for a chocolate dessert. It needed something to make it stand out. They have shelves stocked with games for rent while you wait for your meals which is good since the wait was on the longer end even though they weren't busy. Our group played Apples to Apples and had a good time with that! Our server said they also have trivia and karaoke nights I believe, which could be fun. I've eaten at Great Oaks about a dozen times and have to say that I have come away enjoying my food every single time. The smash burgers are a go to, always consistent and good. The buffalo dip is one of my favorites, the chicken is smoked and pulled, so you get a bit of extra flavor added in over what you've come to expect buffalo chicken dip normally. The charcuterie board is big and generous, and they have one of the best soft pretzels in the area. Finally, I really like the jerk turkey sando, the aioli they put on there adds just a bit of Smokey heat, and the turkey is always great. I've heard great things about the brisket Philly too, but I've not gotten it, yet... the food is always consistent, and it's cool to see a place that has a smoker that is not just using it for traditional American bbq. Fantastic food, delicious drinks, great atmosphere. Will be back. HOWEVER, the way the bill was presented soured the experience. Rather than disclose upfront that there is a charge for credit card use or list separate cash or credit prices, the restaurant added a "tech fee" as the last item in the bill, all of which separated from but just above the subtotal, tax, and total lines. The restaurant default was tacking the fee on automatically in the pre-tax amount, and between burying the fee, not giving no an alternative on the bill, and using unusual language felt deceitful. I've never been to a restaurant that did this. Aside from that, including the credit card fee with the food and beverage items meant that it was included in the taxable amount and added to the "suggested tip" percentages at the end. There's no problem adding credit card processing charges or giving a cash discount, but just be transparent about it. Great Oaks Tavern handles this issue in a way feels very sketchy and underhanded. read more

My husband and I came here on a Friday night a few weeks ago and sat at the bar. The restaurant has a board game theme and gives you the option to pay a fee to play their games. The selection is extensive. We opted not to play and to just sit at the bar. The bartender was fairly friendly and made some helpful recommendations. We chose to share a salad with house-made white French dressing, the chicken papri-tots, the smash burger with chips, and added their homemade chip dip. They split the salad in the back so we each had our own plate. That was a nice touch. As for the dinners - neither of us was impressed with the papri-tots. The meat was very dry and the flavor was just ok. We didn't finish them and didn't care to take them home with us. The smash burger was really good and we both enjoyed it. The chips and dip were also tasty. The menu had a lot of good choices and I think we'd come back to try some others. The interior was spacious and there was lots of parking available. read more

Food was over priced and not good at all. Service was average. My wife and I were going to have dessert, but since we couldn't find our waitress for about 20 minutes, we decided not to. The appetizer was good with stuffed peppers and French onion soup and the bisque. I ordered the special which was for shrimp in a pasta broth. For $57 are you kidding me? Brought my mom for Mother's Day. I really wanted her to try the sweet potato tots. As we were ordering, we were told they ran out of tots and fries. They were not prepared for the Mother's Day crowd. We ordered 4 burgers and every single burger was burnt to a crisp! Even the buns were burnt. We went for Trivia the other night, which was fun! However, the food was another story. My Caesar salad came out with little to no dressing on it and I was charged 50 cents per additional dressing cup. The sides of dressing were in what looked like 1 oz cups only half full. Their Bavarian Pretzel is $16, $18 if you want beer cheese with it. The beer cheese had a banana after taste that made it unbearable. Their sweet potato tots were soggy when they came out as well. We ordered a breakfast burrito, kids hamburger, kids Mac n cheese and French toast dippers. The menu seemed creative. The breakfast burrito was good but spicy. It also had potatoes in it and on the side. I wish it would have come with a salad to embrace the brunch concept. The kids meals seemed small but and they ate it all up. Next onto the mini corn dogs and mini quesadillas. My choice of the two were the corn dogs. Just a couple bites to eat them, but filling and flavorful. A unique corn casing as well. I don't venture out too much this way, but it's a nice little spot in Wadsworth. We stopped out this early Sunday afternoon for brunch. I had chicken and waffles, the wife had some sort of scramble (can't remember the name) and the boy had the breakfast burger (with egg on it). The food was good. I'd eat here again. My only complaint was the pop was flat. I didn't press the issue, it can happen anywhere. The neat thing about this place is you can play one of their 1,000 board/card games. Some days it's free, some days you have to pay $5 to partake. Service was quick and friendly. Prices were not bad either. Eat here if you're out this way. read more

Had a lot of fun here with friends! Ate the smoked wings.......delicious! Ordered a dry rub instead of a sauce and was very pleased. The dry rub was an excellent compliment to the smoked wings. Our server was attentive and helpful...kept the water glasses filled. While I didn't eat any of the buttermilk chicken tenders, my friend said they were amazing. Yesss, a wonderful restaurant in Wadsworth! Love the renovation. This is a great place to visit with friends or bring kids. They provide a variety of different board games, which is super fun. The food is awesome, I loved the seasonal menu with the moms sandwich, the goat cheese and jam were delicious. There are tons of items I would also try. The pretzel is an obvious winner and the beer cheese tastes sooo good with just about any item on the menu, The fries are great but the white mac and cheese as a side was excellent. The first gaming cafe I've ever went to. I love the selection of board games available on their super stocked shelves. I also think their menu items complement the relaxing atmosphere that the owners are going for. The host that seated us also acted as a game master in case we had any questions of regarding any games that we wanted to try. It'd be easy to spend an entire afternoon here playing games with family or friends while sipping on a beer. Playing games adds $5 on the tab at the end of the visit, which is totally worth it. I played Exploding Kittens with a group of friends. Fortunately it was a game I played before, so I didn't have any questions for the game master. I ordered a bowl of chicken wings and a pretzel. The pretzel was a smashing deal and the chicken wings were pretty good. The beer selection was good. We waited for an hour and never got our food. The waitress only came to our table once in that time to say our food would be out soon. The table that came in and ordered after us got their food. We asked for our bill for our drinks and the waitress never brought it so I looked up the price online and left them cash. While walking out a worker came out and yelled at us "are you going to pay for your beer!?" I told him, "the money is on the table." The fact that our waitress never came to apologize for the wait and the possible "manager" accused us of walking out without paying, speaks for their customer service. This is a pickup review not dine in. The food was very good. I have celiac and was worried about GF options. Based on other reviews we decided to try it. The only downside was that not all items mentioned in the reviews were listed in the online order menu, hence a phone call to Great Oaks. The staff I talked to on the phone were very pleasant and helpful. There were enough GF options to choose from so all of us were happy. We had to add to the order after it was placed and they were very accommodating. We will definitely order from here again. read more
