I was long overdue for a girl's night out so I met a good friend here after work one night this week. She picked it because she was going to be in the area. I've never been here before but I know it's a fairly popular place so I was quick to agree to the location. We originally sat at the bar but the stools were so incredibly uncomfortable, so we moved to a booth. While our server was nice, it did take her quite a while to come take our drink order. I got a "lavendar breeze" for my first drink and it was delicious. The menu is small, with the focus being on grilled cheese sandwiches. I'm not a huge grilled cheese lover, so I ordered a wedge salad (with house white French dressing) and the sauerkraut balls from the appetizer menu. The salad was on par with what you'd expect, the dressing was tasty. The sauerkraut balls, though, kind of threw me. First, it's a HUGE serving. There was around 30-40 sauerkraut balls in the basket; way more than I ever imagined would be in an order. I was expecting four or five golf ball sized balls. Maybe I've been spoiled by having some fantastic sauerkraut balls, but these were subpar, at best. They didn't have a lot of flavor and the cocktail sauce they served with them was an odd choice. While I still enjoyed time catching up with a friend and the drinks were well done, I doubt I'll come back for food. The menu just wasn't appealing to me and what I did have wasnt good enough to lure me back anytime soon. read more

Stopped in with some friends for a quick dinner before the Wine and Chocolate event. Get there early as the place fills up. We got a table and shard the cheesesteak platter. Very good, maybe a tad dry. A good Aioli was needed. A couple of beers and that was that. Good service. I will return for a slower paced night out. read more

Stopped here recently and had the chicken sandwich which comes with fries. It came on toasted bread but could have used mayonnaise or another condiment to offset the dryness. Chicken and fries were good but will try something different next time. Service was good and ambiance fair. read more

You cannot eat these tiny umbrellas, but they do somehow make the sandwiches taste amazing, but again do not try to eat these small umbrellas they are inedible. I keep reading these reviews saying the sandwiches are dry. If you are lacking saliva be sure to ask your kind server for some extra sauce like ranch or blue cheese or something. The bartenders are like little fairy people and I don't know where they even found barbacks this good, they are like machine elves keeping the fabric of time weaving along. it's a marvel to witness these normal regular human people do their jobs with expert timing. It's hard to believe they are even real people at all, but perhaps inter dimensional beings sent to earth to teach us more about ourselves and feed us tasty food and bevs. The owner Danny B is a really cool dude and curates a selection of some vintage art films, bob ross, and other incredibly quirky things on the tvs, and the atmosphere is one of the most unique Akron-esque places you could hope to spend your precious time left here on earth. I think the appropriate rating would be 3.5 but I rounded up. I got the veggie burger which was really tasty. The drinks were good too. However, overall the vibe of this place is underwhelming. There is no theme or cool decor, they definitely need to decorate this place. YUM! I was in town for the day and decided to try this place out! A great choice on my part because it was so good! When we first arrived, we got sat right away without a wait, which was awesome as it was fairly busy, but still quiet and welcoming! The Lockview offers MANY different grilled cheese sandwiches on their menu it was so hard to choose! To start we got the mac n cheese bites, which came out hot and ready for us to eat! It was the perfect app to munch on while we decided which sandwich to choose! We decided on the pesto one and the artichoke one to try (& split) and they were both filled with so much flavor! The bread was the perfect amount of crispy too! All sandwiches were served with goldfish crackers, or you could upgrade to fries, tater tots, etc! - I stuck with the goldfish because I also got a big bowl of tomato soup to dip my sandwiches in! Friendly staff. Immediately welcomed us and asked if we'd been there before. We hadn't so she explained how they are known for their gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. Perfect spot for a low key dinner! We went here before seeing a show at Akron Civic (it is literally right across the street) and were pleased with the experience. They have a variety of grilled cheeses (the main part of their menu) as well as some other sandwiches and appetizers. I got the #8 (goat cheese, roasted red pepper, and spinach on Tuscan herb bread) and my companion got the #2 (essentially a pepperoni pizza grilled cheese). We both upgraded from the goldfish crackers - hand cut fries for me and sweet potato fries for her - and had no regrets! Everything was tasty and very reasonably priced, and the service was good too. We had a reservation 30 minutes after they opened for the evening. Got seated quickly but the wait for our mains was over an hour and we only had about 15 minutes to eat and settle our bill before we had to leave with just enough time to get to our show. My fries and sandwich were both room temperature by the time we were served. Me and my swim team ate here (there are 18 of us). We were seated very fast and the waitresses were very polite. They made a few mistakes while serving us, they didn't give us enough utensils and I had to ask for 3 more. Then they didn't give us enough waters and had to ask for more as well. The worst mistake they made was that while handing out a plate to the table one of the waitresses spilled the Tater Tot's on the table. They apologized for the mistake and brought out more Tater Tot's. It wasn't a huge deal but it can't go unnoticed. read more

Grillllllled cheeeeeese. They do it well here. I had the one with the Portobellos and roasted red peppers and it was gooooood. And those fresh cut fries were goooood. Chai Pumpking beer was goooood. (And it didn't hurt that I was there with two of my favorite yelpers, Raymond and Oliver!) Seriously. This place is top notch. I used to come here when it was Bilbo's Down Under, back when I was in college. I really liked it then. Like it even more now. We arrived at 6:30 and in a few minutes we'd not seen a server so the greeter who's table was next to our booth took our appetizer and drink order. A different person brought the fried pepperoni then offered to take our sandwich order when we asked where our server was. The greeter brought our drink refill and 15 minutes later a different server brought our sandwiches. We ordered the mozzarella with lobster. Good over all sandwich. The buttered bread was grilled just right and the combination of the aioli and lobster blended perfectly. I'd try a different sandwich if I ever came back to Akron But I would definitely order the fried pepperoni. I suggest you don't sit in the first booth. Stopped in for lunch with a few business associates, it was around 11:30 AM mid-week, the restaurant was mostly empty so it was a nice place to have a conversation over some creative sandwiches. If you're a connoisseur of grilled cheese the menu here will definitely grab your attention, I don't know how many varieties are listed but it was impressive. After extreme pressure to make a decision not from the staff but because of time I decided to play it safe after receiving a recommendation (the chicken cordon blue w/hand-cut fries) I have to say after the first bite I made an excellent decision under pressure it was absolutely delicious, of course anything on buttered and grilled Texas toast is amazing in my opinion. Their specialty is gourmet grilled cheese. I tried the #5 on sour dough. It has goat cheese, mushrooms and carmelized onions. It typically comes on multigrain bread but I subbed it for sourdough bread. The sandwiches come with goldfish crackers. I subbed the crackers for tots. The sandwich was on point. So flavorful but I could only eat 1/2 and took the the other 1/2 home. The tots were crunchy on the outside. You can never go wrong with tots! It was moderately busy for a Friday night. It is dark inside and the tables are very small. There was 6 of us at a table and we could not sit comfortably without touching knees or scooting back from the table. 45 minutes after we ordered our food I reminded our waitress that we ordered 45 minutes ago. She said she would go check on our food and immediately came back out with our food. The food was not cold but it was not piping hot. I wonder how long it sat under the heat lamp before I said something to the waitress. She didn't even apologize. My group tried the #2, #9, #11, tortuga drink and old fashioned.
