Anybody that's rating this below 4 stars, hit the road. Here's my thought, it's a 4 star restaurant (probably like a 4.3) when comparing it to every restaurant in the Stark County/Portage/Summit area. When you compare it to Springfield? It's a 6 star restaurant, if such a thing exists. They have the absolute best appetizer menu I've ever seen. There were 8 items on the appetizer menu and with just 3 of us, we obviously couldn't order all of them. We started with the Bavarian pretzels, mashed potato balls, calamari and sauerkraut balls. And that's also the order I would rank them. The pretzels were the best I've had, maybe ever. The mashed potato balls would have been at the top of any other restaurants list, but not here. The sauerkraut balls were good, but not great and the calamari was also good. For our entrees, we split a patty melt, which might as well be called a party in your mouth melt. To die for. We also split the ribeye, and here's my story about that: 12 years ago, my wife and I were at Hyde Park in Columbus and I had to this day, the greatest ribeye I've ever had in my life. The problem comes, that I'm always chasing that ribeye. Every time I go to a restaurant, I debate in my head between the filet and the ribeye. And 99 times out of 100 I go with the ribeye. And 99 times out of a hundred, I regret my decision... Until tonight, IG does what everybody needs to do but only a select few are able to do and that's what makes the ribeye fat the best part of the steak. Somehow this place in a strip mall in Sprngfield OH does what every steakhouse tries to do, nails the ribeye. read more

I have passed this place probably 200+ times through the years and always said I wanted to try it and never did, that is until yesterday! I've really missed out. The mashed potato balls were amazing and I could've just eaten about 20 of them and called it a day, that's how good they were. The French onion soup wasn't the best I've had, if it wasn't bad. I was pleasantly surprised at this place. I didn't have many expectations since we went here on a whim for lunch. And upon entering I was pleased to see the place was nicely decorated and clean. You can tell a lot by the way a restaurant keeps itself looking inside and they got my approval. We all partook in their burger special. I got the Rodeo burger and my wife got the Southwest Chipotle burger. The Rodeo burger was very tasty and perfectly cooked; and the Cajun seasoned fries were well balanced with flavor. Absolutely love this place! It's about 10 min from uniontown/hartville area and in a nice little location. Upon entering we were greeted and the tables/floors/bar were immaculately clean, the bartender/waitress Rachel was so friendly! We ordered the sangria which FYI is not anything like traditional sangria, but it was good, get the peach not the berry trust me! We had the sauerkraut balls as an appetizer they were good you could tell they were home made.... We got chicken and waffles as the main and let me tell you...BEST waffle I've had anywhere! Great find! Was looking for Uncle Titos, which we will try another time, but saw this place. Glad we did. Very clean and classy looking. Nice space full of bar and dining area seating. Again, all very clean. Our bartender was quick and enjoyed our back and forth banter. That, in itself says a lot. And unfortunately too many times it doesn't turn out well. Not this time. As stated above the bartender was quick and attentive, took our order, and continued to check on us. Food came quickly. We were directed to this restaurant when our Hotel gave us a list of restaurants open on Memorial Day. We arrived about 7pm. Not many people in. We ordered crab cakes and a burger. It took 25 minutes to get the crab cakes and we are still waiting on the burger. Two other tables have received food. We are still waiting. Not one word from the wait staff. Finally got the food. Finally got the rest of the food. The risotto is worth it. The burger was over cooked and the bread burnt. I wouldn't serve it. I'd have popped another couple pieces in. We made a reservation for my moms 85th birthday. We got there early and still had to wait a half hour for a table. Once we got a table the food took almost two hours to come. I felt bad for the waiter but the restaurant didn't even apologize for the wait. We ordered fish and it came out almost raw and way over salted. We had to ask for it to be credited back to our bill and the manager took only $12 off of the $60 we spent on our fish dinners. The waiter tried to make it right by bringing out ice cream for my mom, which was practically soup. We will never be back, I assure you. I hope our waiter looks for a new job. We've been eating at the Iron Grill since they opened, and we've never had a bad experience here. We've continually ordered take away during the pandemic, as it's close to my parents' home. The food is always well-packaged and prepared. While this isn't the place I'd go to order a steak or seafood, they do a great job with sandwiches and salads. We orders take away this past Sunday, and everything from the southwest salad to the French dip sandwiches never disappoint. I'd recommend Iron Grill when you're in the area. read more

The place was not busy at all during lunch time. That made me a little nervous that this place was terrible. Not the truth though. It was quiet and a little dark in there and kinda weird decor but I've wanted to try this place for a while. We started with the crabcakes. They were the worst part of our meal. Seemed a little overcooked and more breading than crab. The sauce on top helped mask the almost burnt taste. The reuben was very good. Flavor profile was different than most as it was almost a creamy taste overall to it. The sweet potato fries were some of the best I've had. The Philly was huge and really good and while the wife didn't like the horseradish aoli, I did. Even dipped my reuben in it. The onion rings were real good and actually had seasoning. Something that probably limits them a bit is their location in the little strip mall they are in but definitely would be back to try something else. read more

My dad and i went to the Iron Grill for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised! Although the patio is nothing special because it's in a parking lot, the food was really good! I didn't have any drinks so I can't speak to that but we did get the shrimp cocktail as well as the crabcakes for appetizers. you can't really mess up a shrimp cocktail and the crabcakes were good! they had a very sweet sauce with them and they were large in size. there were two crabcakes in the order. I got the grouper and it wasn't anything special but it wasn't bad. The truffle fries were perfect. We also asked for a tartar sauce for the fish but I don't think they had any so they gave us a lemon aïoli which worked perfectly. When we first started ordering, we were pleased with the quality and quantity of the food. The last few experiences have been very mediocre to poor. We decided to forgo entree's and order a salad and appetizers, we tried the Crispy Calamari, Bavarian Pretzels with Beer Cheese and Jumbo Crab Cakes. Calamari; a very small portion and far far from crispy, also accompanied by some chunks of mystery meat, we think maybe it was ham, but it really it is a mystery. Crab Cakes look and taste exactly like the ones you buy at Sam's Club, Costco and Gorton's etc. I don't think they were hand made or Jumbo. Both the Calamari and Crab cakes come with a sweet and spicy sauce, it's exactly the same sauce we get from the local Chinese takeout, very sweet and slightly peppery. I'm not sure what passes for Pretzels in Bavaria, but I'm thinking it's not what we had; soft, unsalted pretzel sticks with whipped light yellow stuff, no beer taste and certainly, no cheese taste. It was like yellow whipped cream cheese. I just added them to my phone contacts, so bummer, now I have to remove them. It's so sad, they are convenient and used to be so good. read more

My wife and I recently went in here on a date night. At first it seemed to be a higher end restaurant and the food was presented well enough for the atmosphere, but once we tried our food, we were not impressed. The food was so bland we couldn't believe it. I ordered chicken kabobs. The most flavorful part was the peppers. The chicken was not seasoned at all. Very disappointed by the flavor from this place. Disappointing experience at the Iron Grill this evening. A group of us go there fairly often. We get the happy hour priced appetizers. One of my favorites is the fried Mac and cheese. So I got that and their pulled pork flatbread. When the Mac and cheese came to the table they tasted off....after eating only one I left them on the table. The server noticed and asked if there was anything wrong, I replied that they didn't taste just right and she asked if I would like her to take them away to which I said yes. When the bill arrived not only were they still on the bill but both items were full price. When I asked I was informed that they were no longer offering half price apps. I would think that if a restaurant is going to change something like that they would remove mention of happy hour appetizers. read more

Came back tonight to get the same pretty good food that we got last time. Service still so so (didn't appear overly busy or understaffed). Got the linguini Alfredo. It was ok but the Alfredo sauce was missing the butter, salt, pepper, garlic and Parmesan cheese. So it was pasta and heavy cream. Not the servers fault - Again. We are returning customers to the iron grill. Very disappointed this time. When our server brought our appetizer to the table someone else immediately brought our salads. We noted this to her and our server and asked not to be rushed. Then the person that brought the salads came back and said that the cook had moved our steaks to the side of the grill so they would not cook too quickly. We told our server that this was not acceptable and expected we would have our steak cooked as order and not reheated. Then the real issue came when another person stopped by the table introduced herself as a partner and proceeded to tell us that they have a process of preparing food but would grill us new steaks since we had not yet finished our salads - no mention of the salads being brought out with our appetizers or an apology - sounded more like it was our fault they had to make new steaks. Now the kicker is that when the steaks were served they we warm not hot and both sides were cold - obviously sitting on the plate for some time. We rejected the food, paid for our appetizers and drinks - tipped our server (not her fault) and left. The "partner" never came back to apologize or say anything. If we return, we will be sure to order each part of the meal separately so we are not rushed or expected to eat cold food that was prepared too quickly. read more

I went here with my parents today. There were only ten or so people in the restaurant. Our drinks (all waters) took over 20 minutes and our food took nearly an hour. When my parents cut into their chicken Parmesan, it was raw. They still charged for my salad and my dads soup even though we had a terrible experience. I will never be back again. read more

Came back recently and the service was good but the food was terrible. I ordered the salmon, Brussels, and mashed potatoes. The salmon was very over cooked but was seasoned so I ate half of it (I was very hungry). Also, most of the skin was missing so I'm not sure what happened there. The Brussels were over cooked as well. They were soggy and dark olive green. Clearly over done with no seasoning. I was looking forward to roasted, crispy brussels, dang. The mashed potatoes were probably the worst I've ever had. They lacked salt, butter, and cream. I left most of the food on my plate and when the waitress asked if I wanted a box, I said no. She brought one anyway and I didn't use it. I really hope they get the flavor back in the food because I really like the atmosphere and the staff are friendly. read more
