Enjoyed another great breakfast at the Farmer Boy. Had breakfast this morning with some men from my church. Excellent service, the food was brought out fast and hot. Everything was delicious. We will be back again next month. read more

I love these "old-fashioned" places. I went by myself and my server couldn't have been more accommodating. She recommended many items and gave thorough descriptions. I got a side salad-crisp and delicious-and the fried fish. The ladies next to me (who were enjoying enormous salads btw) leaned over and said I would love it and boy did I! Huge portions and so inexpensive! The restaurant feels like you're back in time a few decades, but it's been there for decades! It was cute and cozy. Can't wait to go back! read more

Visited this restaurant for the second time in a month for thier fish dinner. The first time was after 5 pm and the line was long with about a 20 minute wait. This time we went early 3:30 pm and walked right in. We both had the fish dinner and the fish was excellent both times. It comes with a salad and rolls. The salad is just lettuce so nothing to say about it. I hand the french fries and my spouse had green beans as our sides. There were 3 pieces of fish with both dinners served with tartar sauce. The fish was excellent, again. The server was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend. read more

Food was delicious. Service was great. Prices were reasonable. Great for family breakfast.

We all ordered the fish and chips. Excellent breading on the huge pieces of fish with crispy French fries ! Our server was great and sop pleasant. If you haven't been, GO! ( We all had extra to take home and enjoy another meal!) read more

Food portion sizes can be inconsistent at times. Food quality can vary as well. In all, pretty tasty and delicious food. Average breakfast style place. Nothing too special. read more

M- the bottom has dropped out of the box. The service is always good but the food is suffering from old age. Atmosphere is dated and a bit warn out. Time for a renovation its a fine old people special eating patron. But if this place is to regain its glorious past a fresh coat of paint could do wonders. I get it you have your regulars but eventually they find a newer pair of drawers. Tip- Baked potatoes should never be cooked in foil unless you are trying to boil them. Also a little bit of seasoning goes a long way toward flavor town. read more

The breakfast platter I had was awesome. Feels like an older establishment but comfortable and family friendly. The particular waitress we had was awful. Only saw her 3 times. To take the order, bring food and drop check. When she brought the check it was for another party and $20 more than hours. Never asked if we wanted refills or if anyone at the table would want dessert. She couldn't even smile, say thank you or have a good day. Her tip, like her, was nonexistent. read more

Great home cooked meals at great prices! Personal favorite are the omelets with breakfast all day.

Came to Farmer Boy for lunch like I do most days, this time I asked The waitress what the best meal was on the menu; and she recommended to try out the Reuben sandwich! It took me about 3 1/2 minutes to Wolf down the whole thing! & she was right it is the best item on the menu, I'll probably be ordering that more often, but I also recommend you try the omelettes as well, I usually get them with the potatoes & pancakes; give it a try next time you are here! read more

We like this local breakfast spot. They have great weekday breakfast deals. We love the bagel sandwiches with the sausage patty and make sure to get your hashbrowns well done. Staff is always on the ball and friendly. Good Covid protocols. read more

While on our way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, my girlfriend and I were in need of a refreshing meal. I exited the highway, not knowing which restaurant would pop out at us. As soon as I saw the sign for "Farmer Boy", I knew we had found the one. I think both of us were taken in by the charm of the classic homey interior and especially the friendliness of the wait staff. We sat in a booth and perused the extensive menu. We both gravitated toward the fried fish sandwich, and we were not disappointed. Several pieces of fried fish were piled in between a soft hamburger bun and tartar sauce was plentiful. The breading was light and the fish was nice and flaky. This bright spot made our trip down to Ohio definitely worth it. read more

Great breakfast! Very good but a little small tuna melt. Friendly and attentive service. Reasonably priced.

Once again folks in the wild wild west I've embarked in a Deedlious Restaurante where the cooking is like Mom's. A definite 5-star joint.

In the area on errands and decided to try this place for breakfast. Busy parking lot. Long wait to be seated and to check out because servers don't cash you out. They could fix that but probably so busy they want servers to do just food. Ham and cheese omelette with crispy hashbrowns and pita. Looked good on arrival but omelette was super thin like a crepe, so the filling over powered. Cubed ham was good. Cheese not melted enough. Pita not toasted enough, was warmed and spongy and not real pita. I would go 3 stars but the face of the plate had a coating of grease across it from the potatoes that ended my meal on the spot. Locals support this place admirably, but they should demand more. Small water glass is bizarre; more work for server and frustration for patrons. Wanted to love it, but do not. Won't return. Also, AC wasn't doing great job and bathroom looked truck-stop dirty. read more

We just had the worst breakfast ever! We have been coming to Farmer Boy in Akron for years and have had ups and downs with the food. Most of the time it's been pretty good. We've had both breakfast and lunch numerous time over the years. This was by far the worst. My husband got the eggs benedict which he used to love. This time the sauce was so thick and pasty and the english muffin was so hard and dry he couldn't chew it. I had the ham and cheese omelet with home fries, Horrible! There was no definition to the so called home fries. It was one gooey pile of mush and absolutely no seasoning what so ever. Of course, I don't think anything would have helped. Am going to let management know how terrible it was and we'll have to wait and see if we'll go back or not. It sure was a waste of money and we left hungry since it wasn't edible. read more

Leslie is one heck of a waitress. She has always been very cheerful and very pleasant everytime I have been in. When I come in I always ask for her. She is the best one I have had in there for a long time. You need her, if she would ever go somewhere else, I for sure would follow her. read more

They have the best Eggs Benedict! The meatloaf is very good and the prices are very low. It would be perfect if they had wifi.

Good food, great prices, staff down to earth and helpful. Make sure to try the pie! As always, leave a decent tip, at least 20%.

Best Chicken Marisela EVER. I was reluctant to get it, because I use to make it all of the time. LaVonne who works there is amazing and highly recommended it! OMG!! Delicious and smothered in mushrooms! It will be my new favorite! Also Candace the Manager runs a tight ship! Everything is super clean and predictable in a good way. Just how you would want it. Super sweet person who heard my dad had passed and went out of her way to talk to my mom and acknowledge it. My parents and us kids have been coming here for years! Never disappointed! I don't know why I didn't do a yelp earlier. read more

Always fairly busy. Service was average during 2 different visits for breakfast. Country fried steak, along with chopped steak was very good. This place seem to attract older folks from the community, as many were known by name by wait staff. The only draw back was the restrooms were not well maintained. Typical for an older place such a this. Went here for breakfast on 2/19/2018. Food was fair, service very good. However when we checked out the cashier clipped us for $4.00. Didn't catch this till later in the day. read more

I like the food and the portion size at Farmer Boy. It is home style cooking with plenty of options. Rarely am I disappointed in the dinner or breakfast that I order. I do not go there as a choice of mine, but when others I am with want to go to Farmer Boy. The reason being that it has the same decor for at least 20 years. Even when they were closed during Covid-19 they did not take the opportunity to redo it. I just imagine if you're not updating the front that everybody sees what does the back look like? So I have issues with wondering if it's clean and sanitary and so I do not go there often. if I were to give a rating based solely on the food I would give it a 4 but because of the outdated dining room and bathrooms I'm giving it a 3. read more

Don't trust the on line menu. Does not represent the restaurants (at least for Canton rd location).

Here I am again, stopped on the way home from visiting family this Memorial Day. Today they have sweet and sour pork, and it is very good. The coffee and the service are both also excellent, as always. This is a favorite stopping place on the way home, for good food in pleasant surroundings. read more

Came here for dinner after seeing it had around 4 stars. Neighborhood restaurant that serves breakfast all day. It was very busy Friday after 5pm. I think this is where all the retired elderly couples must come for their Friday early date night, lol. I do mean lots of elderly couples. We were the only African American and young couple there. There was a line, but we didnt wait long for a booth, not even 10 minutes. The reason why it was busy was All You Can Eat Fish for $9.99. I had the breaded scallops with fries and coleslaw. My scallops were hot, but fries were cold. My husband had the All You Can Eat Pollack which was crispy and hot. I would come back just to try something else. read more

This is comfort food central. Their home fries are fantastic and the white fish special on Tuesday explains why the oceans are being over fished. Ya get 3 huge pieces of fish plus 2 sides. I eat 2 pieces and m' lady eats one, so we take home as much as we eat. There is a homey atmosphere where people know each other from going there so often which is becoming a lost art. Repeat customers like that says satisfied customers. If ya want fancy, expensive cuisine with double or triple the cost, go elsewhere. If you want food like mama used to make, grab a seat. read more

Compared to other family style restaurants, this place gets the coveted 5 star rating! Stopped here for a late lunch. It was a rare scorching hot day in April, and we were on the bikes so we were hot and needed a break. The waitress was charming, and at some point we had a conversation about the toddler size tumblers in which they served their cold beverages. Apparently the owners don't want to spring for larger cups, so the help is left tramping up and down the aisles refilling at every turn. To circumvent, she brought water and iced tea and a cup for ice for the tea refills, so at least I got a full toddler cup of tea rather than one that was 80% ice. I never lacked for tea. Inasmuch as it was hot, I was thinking salad, but the sharp-eyed lady had spied a turkey special and inquired as to whether or not is was "real" or gobble-glued-gander. It was real and when I asked her opinion as to which way she would lean between salad and turkey a resounding turkey came out. I could get a side salad served with it, so the best of both worlds. The salad was nice. It was uber-fresh medium sized pieces of iceburg with carrot shreds 6 times as wide as the typical shred, tomatoes and maybe a cuke or two. Definitely NOT from a bag-o-lettuce! Quite refreshing. They were kind enough to swap my potato for the omnipresent vegetable medley. It was cut on-premise and perfectly prepared, with a nice al dente exterior, but adequately cooked interior that one didn't think one was eating raw veggies. The lady's mashed were real. The dressing was homemade and the turkey? The turkey was most definitely thick hand cut huge portions of both white and dark meat, so one knew that a real bird had actually been involved. We're both normally white meat kinda folk, but I didn't mind, and the lady inadvertently ate some dark and didn't even know it! The gravy sure looked like Campbell's, but it was fine, certainly not like any homemade gravy I've had, but hey they're allowed a break, inasmuch as with drinks and tax the bill came to $18.07. Say what? Under twenty bucks for home-cooked goodness and no fuss? I'm all in! Mr Boy I WILL be back! read more

If you're hoping to enjoy world-class food in an ordinary-looking restaurant south of Akron, Ohio....boy, did you take a wrong turn somewhere. Google the phrase "Barberton Chicken" (the restaurants are nearby) and go there.. Farmer Boy is aimed squarely at the Denny's-Golden Corral crowd: seniors living in the backwoods whose tastes run to meat and potatoes, and lots of 'em.It's a casual sit-down restaurant that serves very large meals. They aim for mediocre diner quality and usually get there. It's fairly easy to get a decent meal food here if you don't ask the kitchen to stretch. Breakfasts are fine (although your bacon will be fatty and often under or over-cooked), but the Waffle House offers better. Sandwiches are fine (as long as you don't mind frozen burgers or chicken patties. Dinner specials like swiss steak, pork chops, roast turkey-- the stuff you'd expect-- are blandly spiced, but otherwise decently-made. (Order the gyro or chicken marsala and you deserve what you get). The desserts, which are made locally, are superb. Usually I don't have room because the portions are huge. Service is REALLY slow because it's usually packed. That sinks the "all you can eat" fish fry, because you'll be lucky to have 5 pieces before everyone else is done. If you're wondering why I reviewed it, it's because it's Grandma's favorite restaurant. She gets worked up about stuff like corned beef hash, a bread basket or a tuna melt with crisp french fries. Thank you for letting me vent; thank god she doesn't have Internet access, because this review might kill her. read more

I heard a lot of great things about this reataraunt. Every time I drove by I noticed it was always packed. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So I decided to stop in for dinner to see what all the chatter was about. As soon as you walk in it feels like one of those diners people go to in the movies in the middle of nowhere but just a lot less creepy. From the lighting, the finished wood work, and that country vibe. Right away you can tell it's just an older crowd scene. Although, I did take my one year old son  and I didn't get that "uncomfortable stare" you get from the staff or customers at your typical local diner. The staff wasn't the friendliest and I thought they could've done a better job with that. It took our waitress a couple minutes just to get the drink orders in, and she just didn't seem genuine. Almost as if she didn't want to be there, but I get that everyone has those nights so i didn't really let that bother me that much. We finally ordered and it did take a little longer than i expected for the food to come out. After the food was brought out my experience there got a hundred times better. I finally know what all the buzz was about this place. Pure-excellence in the food. Items that were so simple on the menu, but quality taste that I haven't had in a long time. Items such as "grilles salmon" to "chicken noodle soup"! Something so simple such as a club sandwich, I really felt like I was eating a filet mignon! My son looked like he was having a good old time with the mashed potatoes. He even had a better time with the chicken tenders. I couldn't help myself to try both and I fell in love with it as well. Most importantly after the food was served our waitress really started to come around. She started to open up to us and it ended up turning out into a great experience. I love this place, and it's something you can't pass up. read more
