I placed an order through instacart. Instacart usually has the best delivery people and accurate orders. Not tonight. The delivery guy was awesome but i was missing items in my order and i got a disgusting looking mess of a double hamburger when i ordered a different type of burger. The salad was ok. The fries were yummy but i paid for a drink that i never got. So...4 items ordered and 2 wrong. Wrong burger and no drink. I called the restaurant and was told i have to deal with instacart to resolve this. She wasnt very nice at all. So, the delivery guy was great but not only was the burger wrong, it was just a mess thrown into a container. And no $3.95 beverage. Reaching the restaurant was worthless. Unable to reach instacart. First time in years i had a bad experience with the instacart order and i will never darken the Fa-Rays door step ever again (used to be a fav). read more

I have been coming here since 1985. Many owners and menu changes but 1). The current owners are great and you get quality food / good value. I love their foot long coney dogs. Same bun, and coney mix/meat. Their onion rings are crunchy and good. Get some ranch dressing and add frank's hot sauce. Service was perfect. We never "wanted" for anything. read more

We had a Belgian waffle with pecans; a grilled cheese sandwich, the ham and bean soup, the Cole slaw and the coffee. Everything was delicious. We were served immediately. Fantastic service but my wife & I went there this week for dinner & my wife ordered a hamburger. The menu said that it came with fries but she asked if she could pay an up charge & get a salad instead. She was told "no, do you want to add a salad?" RIDICULOUS! I ordered Fa-Rays from DoorDash tonight, the 10 oz broasted pork chop dinner. The pork chop was so overdone and flavorless, that I only ate 3 bites. It came with mashed potatoes & gravy, and corn. They also were without seasoning and absolutely flavorless. I dumped the dinner in the trash. They used to have good food. Don't know when that changed. Won't be ordering again. read more

This restaurant used to be my go to when it comes to breakfast. Unfortunately that has ended. When my wife and I ordered, we found out that there was only 2 choices for toast, wheat and rye? Then when I received my breakfast, it only had 1 slice of toast instead of 2. They said they had a bread shortage? Was still charged full price for the breakfast? I took a little while to order but I set waiting for 30 minutes for them to bring me some roasted chicken. I ordered mashed potatoes. They brought me fries and I got iron rings. Nothing was hot, it was warm. It's almost like they forgot about me and forgot to bring me my food. The price of the food was way more than what it was supposed to be on the menu. I ordered a chicken dinner for 1399. I would not recommend it. My plate was covered in grease in the chicken was rarely hot. I guess they forgot about it. It was so bad I was debating on just getting up and leaving without paying So mediocre I will never ever go back here again I am so disappointed. I work way too hard for my money. read more

Got the chicken and dumplings it tasted like dish rag water. Not very good. Also got spaghetti plate with meatballs. Came with two big meat balls which was not enough for the amount of noodles given. Same with sauce very light on the sauce and one small measly freezer breadstick. Service was good. Food not so much. Went there for the first time yesterday... nice quaint family style restaurant. I ordered the Blue Cheeseburger and onion rings while my wife ordered oatmeal and chicken dumpling soup.... Everything was excellent. Clean place, reasonable prices and we had very good service from a lady named Julie. We also got a to-go for my mother in law and she reported back that it was great. We used to go here often then after being sold the SERVICE and food has gotten worse. Used to be packed on friday evenings for their fish was there at prime time maybe 12 people there. After half an hour, I finally flagged down another server and asked that our food be packed to go, as our drinks were empty and the kids were getting restless. Went to give Fa-Ray's another chance after viewing reviews. Seemed to improve from my last visit. Ordered their famous coney dog. Hot dog in itself was tasty, however coney sauce looked like cat food. Meat was finely ground & a slight pink tint not sauce. Bun was wet on bottom like it sat in water. Fries were really good. Chili was same meat as coney & tons of beans. Sent it back & opted for chicken dumpling soup. It was good not great, but good. Needless to say, won't be going back. read more

Having never been here before and it was on our way to the rest of our mothers day celebration we ventured in. Food was all very good except the pancakes. Yes they are large but rubbery in texture. Country fried steak, eggs, potatoes, bacon, and the assortment of toasts we got were all very good. Sausage gravy was different but not bad. Assortment of smuckers jellies was a nice touch. Our waitress was excellent. She gave our kids her pens so they could color because they didn't have crayons. Worth a look if ya want good place for at least breakfast in barberton. read more

Been coming here for years. I have only been here for breakfast but I hear tales of how great their lunches and dinners are. To me they will remain my local breakfast dive. The building is old not obnoxious and unkempt. But simply in age and style. Think of a dinner or greasy spoon where you could eat at the counter. Well, this is that place. They have an old fashioned ice cream stand that can be accessed on the outside via a serving window. Or, inside by the cashier stand. Plenty of tables and booths and most of the time they are "Seat Yourself". I always want to do that so it's nice that they recognize my needs. The staff has always been nice and friendly. This is a "regulars" kind of joint. The food has always been cooked to perfection and generously sized. They have all the typical breakfast fare. The prices are fair and reasonable. The food was pretty bland, the portions were average and the atmosphere was dark, hot and had an odd odor. We could not tell if the odor was the building or the crowd. I saw maybe 3 waitress in the main room taking care of 70 or more customers in just the main room and hustling like crazy. No hostess or buss boy on duty. They were doing it all. From the street, Fa-Ray's looks fairly non descriptive. The inside isn't much to look at either. The real gem though, is the food! Good home style cooking and even better prices. My mom worked there when she was a teen as a curb girl and our family has gone there as long as I can remember! Every sunday after church i would go with my grandparents and order the same thing; A foot long coney dog with onions and a side of onion rings. My grandma always got the chicken dinner and grandpa got the fried fish. The great thing about Fa-Ray's other than the food and the prices, is that it's been family owned for over 50 years! The people are friendly, and their portions are great! Like i said, don't be turned off by the "hole in the wall" looks or the old people drinking coffee in the corner complaining about gas prices and cell phones... just go and enjoy the food! You wont be sorry you did. it's like eating at Grandma's house only you have to pay with money instead of hugs! read more

My husband and I were driving from Columbus to Akron to drop off car parts, in the middle of the COVID we here having difficulty finding a place for lunch that we could also use the restroom and outside seating because we had a small dog. Went here yesterday morning with my Bible study group. Since it was a Sunday morning, I was glad that they accepted our reservation for a table for ten, as this is a busy place. The entire menu was available (it was 10:30 by the time we were ready to order) but we each ordered breakfast. I was treating myself to eggs that morning (I normally eat a whole food, plant-based diet), so I ordered the vegetarian omelet. It was described as three eggs with mushrooms, onions, peppers, tomatoes and broccoli, and came with a side of toast. The eggs were cooked just right and the vegetables were not greasy (since we don't eat much fat, we really tend to notice anything like that). Next time, I would gladly pony up an extra dollar, though, and ask them to add more veggies....but that's probably just me. I'm sure most people would think it was an ok amount of them. I ordered wheat toast, dry, and it was typical "wheat" toast, but it went fine with the eggs. The coffee was outstanding and our waitress kept it coming. I also loved that it was served in thick-walled, descent-sized mugs that kept it really warm :o) I'm going to try this place for lunch this week. I'll let you know how that goes! read more
