As a family member of someone who used to work at this restaurant, I feel a responsibility to speak out about how deeply disappointed and disturbed we are by what we witnessed and experienced connected to this workplace. From what our family has seen, there were serious concerns about staff behavior and the overall safety culture within the kitchen and management team. What is even more upsetting is the way serious issues were handled or more accurately, not handled. Situations that should have been treated with urgency, professionalism, and genuine concern were met with what felt like avoidance and a lack of accountability. No family should ever have to question whether a business is doing enough to protect the wellbeing of the people around them, especially minors. Because of this experience, our family has completely lost trust in this establishment. We would strongly urge ownership to reevaluate who they employ, how they supervise staff, and how they respond when alarming concerns are raised. Until real changes are made, we cannot recommend that anyone support this restaurant. read more

This place is a bit in the middle. I will say our waitress was so kind, and so amazing that if I was only rating the waitress, it would be 10 out of five stars. But I think this place is gonna be driven into the ground soon if they don't have changes made. They were out of a lot of things. Including a lot of beer the stools upstairs were falling apart and breaking. The food wasn't very hot. I had a smash burger, and it was good , but everyone else in my parties food wasn't very good and when soup comes lukewarm, I feel like there's definitely a problem. It seemed like there were a lot of drunk regulars in the establishment. I really hope to come back this summer when it's warm out, and all the doors are open to see what it's like then. read more

Right from the start, pulling into the parking lot was a little rough. Having low profile tires on our car, the gravel drive had some decent size dips in the gravel. Walking up to the restaurant, you notice the outdoor dining patio with wood picnic tables. Not all of the tables had outdoor umbrellas. Maybe only 2? We asked for a high top table inside the restaurant. While being seated at our table we couldn't help but notice the music was cranked pretty loud. We were not comfortable with that, we had to shout our order to the waitress and shout to talk to each other. Ordered a pear martini, was told they were out of pear "stuff". Chose another drink and started to place our order. The waitress told us before we placed our order that they were out of Giardiniera for the Italian beef sandwich. Truthfully, that was the whole reason we drove over 30 miles to try this place out. Seriously, no joke! My husband wanted to go here because he hasn't seen a sandwich like this anywhere, so we decided to come here and check it out. Between being out of pear stuff and the Giardiniera, we had to keep telling our waitress to come back because we had to look over the menus again to make another decision. We ordered the chicken pesto pizza and the double smashburger. Both were very good. We were happy with our food and with the quality of the food. I would go back for the smashburger. I really enjoyed the burger. The pizza was large enough for us to take home and have another meal. When we left, people were fighting on each side of our car in the parking lot for our parking spot. Oof. Second visit and the last time I will patronize this business. What a mess. Still no table service. Ordered at the kiosk and the employee either "couldn't find it" in the computer or they were out of almost everything I ordered. Waited 57 minutes for our food, to find out the order was never placed. We were calm, understanding and not really in rush but no apologies or compensation was offered. The only "employee" in the place that seemed to have any work ethic was a CHILD, probably under the age of 10 working in a bar setting on a Friday night. Shame all around, because the food was great. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would! I saw a Tik Tok about it and the food looked amazing. Hubby and I decided on a whim to give it a shot since it's a little over 30 minutes away from us. We drove past it because Waze was being stupid so we turned around and pulled right in. It does sit back off the road a bit so be on the lookout. We pulled up to and adorable building and smelled the delicious food wafting through the air. We walked in and sat at the bar in some extremely comfortable bar stools. We were greeted by a very friendly bartender who took our order promptly. We looked through the menu and landed on the Gouda Mac and cheese bites for an app, the double smash burger sauce on the side with fries and the Italian beef special with fries. The Mac and cheese bites were very good, the smash burger was to die for and the Italian beef was delicious with just the right amount of heat not too spicy. All of the food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled delicious! Overall, we will be coming back, regardless of the little bit of the drive it is totally worth it! read more

Every time we have been here it has been so crowded, especially at the bar. The first few times we tried, the parking lot was so full (on a week night) we left and didn't bother. The first time we went inside for dinner there was no signs or staff to let us know that we have to order at the counter and grab a table number after ordering. Once we did that we had to go to the bar to order our drinks. Service took a while and I believe the staff or owner's children are the servers, since a kid in soccer clothes brought our food out. But, I will say the hot honey pepperoni pizza is delicious. The second time we came it was even more crowded and took even longer to get just drinks. We did not even try ordering food. Another child in soccer clothes was delivering food to tables. They came to our table trying to deliver food even though we did not order any. I feel bad for the kids working, they can't be even teenagers yet. read more

Went to this place with a group when they first opened and our food took forever, every one of our meals came out in spurts for our table of 6, we said we'd give them an another opportunity after leaving and went this evening for a birthday. Sat down around 7, the tables that sat after us all started getting their food before us so we said something, our pizza then came out wrong, some other tables food was being delivered that was not ours, then two of the people we came with got their food but the other 6 didn't, last person in our party finally received her burger wrong 98 minutes after ordering. The owner came out after we asked to speak with the manager, she didn't even have the right receipt coming to us, To discuss the situation, then didn't offer any discount until we mentioned it. Went during lunch during the week, it was extremely cold bc their heat wasn't working. I got French onion soup and it was good but a tad salty. Ordered some other stuff that was ok, nothing memorably bad or good. The place looks neat inside but the drinks are pretty overpriced. We were early customers and have returned several times. The food is good but the service is really pathetic -- unless one sits at the bar. People come in and have no idea there is NO table service. One must order at the kiosk in the middle of the room (if it is staffed) or at the bar. (Quite a few people just leave -- not having figured this out.) We were excited to try this new place. It looked like it would be fun and in a beautiful setting. Unfortunately we had to go through a lot of mud to get there. There was no escaping at even in the driveway huge potholes. Our shoes were covered with mud by the time we walked inside. Once there there was a very long wait, which was not unusual on a Saturday. Unfortunately, even once we got our table, we waited an extremely long time for our food service was OK. The vibe was very cold and not comfortable. It was also loud the food, however was very good. Came out hot once it did get to our table. I may consider going back in the summer when you can sit outside. There was a patio with picnic tables, although I didn't see any shade available so it might not be very comfortable out there either. First experience was very underwhelming. We will now have to take our car to the car wash to get all the mud out from underneath it. read more

We couldn't get a waitress, hostess had to take our order after 45 mins the food was below average at best and not right. No honey on a hot honey pizza and no cheese on a Philly cheese steak. Food was good--recommend the hot honey pizza. However, the service was subpar. Our waitress rarely checked in on drink refills. For reference, this was on a Sunday before dinner rush. Also, if someone in your party orders a pizza, expect them to get their food about 30 minutes before the rest of the group. FRAUD ALERT - - During our first visit to Ridge and Rail on March 6th for dinner with friends, our credit card was charged for a transaction that was not ours. It also included our correct charge. The day we received our credit card statement we emailed Mario (co-owner) who forwarded our email to Brian (co-owner) and in turn Brian forwarded the email to Sarah. Sarah emailed back they could NOT help us. Sarah said they process through Clover who will not allow refunds/corrections after 30 days. Our statement arrived April 8th. They were unwilling to try to process a credit. Ridge and Rail was unjustly enriched at our expense or someone there committed a fraud on our credit card. We had to file a fraud claim on our credit card and probably will be filing a theft report with the sheriffs department. The food was just bar food with no service and no direction on how to get service. Upon arrival, we had to search tables for menus and ask people to use theirs. You have to order at the bar where they take your credit card. They do bring the food to your table although they are not sure what table. We will never go back. read more

Stopped in a week or so ago with lunch with colleagues. First, let me say I've been waiting for this place to open for a looooonnnggg time. It's super close to my work, and we are all very excited to have an option for a meal, or place to go to grab drinks. So as we walk in, they've got a really nice patio outside. We entered through the garage doors and were told to grab a seat anywhere. It's like bar-ish barn-ish decor, but pretty well done. They also have a loft but we didn't go up there. Our waiter told us that there were a few pool tables up there, then she apologized because they are still working on the full menu, they literally just opened, and not everything on the menu is available yet, they are still working on it. No issue whatsoever to me, I'd rather them get their menu right than rush just to create more items. My colleagues and I all had iced tea/soft drinks, then one of the asked the waited about the comparison between the cheesesteak or the meat lovers pizza. She said hands down the pizza, which I'll be honest influenced my decision too, so I ordered the hot honey pepperoni pizza. Our final colleague ordered the charcuterie platter as her lunch. So we did have a bit of a wait, but not too long, then our food came out. I can't speak for anyone else's specifically, but my pizza was delicious! It was maybe the best bar pizza I've had, and if not the best, for sure top 3. It's like a tavern style pizza, so the crust isn't exactly thin, but it's also not a thicker Detroit style crust or anything. It's just perfect, kinda soft, kinda crunchy, I mean they nailed their dough recipe! The pepperoni was crispy, the cheese was still a bit ooey gooey, and their sauce was a perfect amount of acidic but slightly sweet. It played really well with the crisp pepperoni and the slight kick from the hot honey. My colleagues seemed to really enjoy theirs too, though again, I didn't get to try any sadly. Anyways, really really happy this place is open, I'm telling everyone at my work about it, and look forward to going back. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food very much however the service, process or ordering, getting drinks, plates, cutlery-- all pretty confusing. You have to order at a desk which was fine, was able to order food and drinks however no one brought us our drinks (after asking multiple workers/owner and them telling us that the bartender would bring it to us - this never happened) so ultimately my husband had to go to the bar to ask for the drinks that we already paid for and ordered. The food was brought to us, absolutely delicious but when I asked the food runner for plates she told me I had to go back up to the desk (where we ordered) to get plates - thought this was odd considering she could have just stepped over and got them for us. I was excited to try this new local spot. Went in a week night- not super crowded which was nice. Ordered our food and drinks at the bar. The bartender was great- both food a drinks came out quick and were super good (salad and pizza). Only downfall was when we went to pay our bill- our drinks ended up being $19-20 a piece for their holiday cocktails. Even for top shelf liquor that seems steep when the drink is more than my whole meal. Will be back but will choose wider options. read more

Towards the end of the meal the server asked about the food. Was told to tell the kitchen the chicken was cold and tasted like it was just out of refrigerator and precooked. We used to love coming here every weekend with friends & family for the great food and atmosphere. It's a really neat setup with indoor & outdoor seating and great drinks list. Unfortunately after the last two weeknight visits we're realizing the food quality seems to be completely different if it's not a weekend. Our favorite dish is the white cheddar Mac & cheese - it's amazing when made correctly. Super creamy and covered in panko breadcrumbs. Tonight's dish was super disappointing. It looked like reheated Panera mac n cheese - the noodles were soggy and disgusting. We asked the waitress if something had changed and she had to go check with a manager. The manager said the kitchen was just out of the breadcrumbs tonight but after looking at the dish together you can tell it's not a made-to-order meal. It looked reheated in a microwave and was completely tasteless. Which is incredibly odd because the dozens of times we've ate here this is the most wonderful meal. I don't know if they've lost their chef or didn't have one working there this evening, but it was a huge letdown. Not worth the meal prices if they're going to start lowering the food quality to less than fast food restaurant quality. Huge bummer for what normally is a nice local spot. read more

I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of R&R, as I live 5 minutes away and it seemed promising. Like others have said, this place has a lot of potential but the deliverable is rather lacking. First, the driveway and parking lot really need to be improved. It's a little surprising that it passed inspection honestly, the whole thing is a mud pit filled with potholes. Once inside, the overall vibe is just confusing. The seating and ordering is self-serve but there's no indication of that. They offer cocktails but you have to go to the bar to find a menu. A child (I'm guessing 8 or 9 years old) is manning the food kiosk which is just unprofessional for a business IMO. Food and drink orders are separate - kind of. The kid told me she could "merge" the orders at the end, but having to walk up to the bar for drinks and up to a kiosk for food orders and payment left me wondering whom exactly I was expected to leave a tip for. On top of that, I didn't even realize until reading other reviews that there's a service fee for credit card transactions. That just seems borderline dishonest, as any other business tells you up front, and this is the first time I've ever encountered such a thing at a restaurant that accepts CC payments. The pizza was good but the meatballs came out cold in a styrofoam container with no way of cutting through the congealed mozzarella on top. Again, the whole experience wasn't terrible, it was just weird and felt incomplete. The owners have a lot to figure out and I won't be back until I see some reviews reflecting positive changes. I really hope they read these reviews and take the feedback to heart, or I doubt they'll be open for long. read more
