I had a fantastic classic Reuben corned beef sandwich with delicious, melty cheese and crispy toasted rye bread with a side of fries that were out of this world. 4.5 Stars Was in the area for a visit to some extended family and decided to stop in for brunch. It was delicious! Had to try the famous pancakes - they had a nice crisp edge and tasted like they were made with salted butter which was a pleasant addition. Interestingly, when I first tasted them, they were fluffy but got a tad gummy as the meal progressed, maybe from steaming in a stack, I don't know. They still tasted good. My wife and I split two dishes - the chicken and waffles and the corned beef hash. The chicken was small nuggets of breast meat, which works, because there were no bones to contend with and they were juicy and nicely spiced. The corned beef hash was very filling and tasty. The beef was minced fine but the potatoes were more hefty chunks. My wife liked that; I found it to be a mismatch (I think I prefer it all be big chunks or all finer and fried, but that's just my preference). All dishes came with big side of fruit. Top notch service. There was a small team of waiters buzzing around the restaurant, filling coffees, taking orders, and delivering food. My kids loved the salted caramel hot chocolate but, like many little kids, devoured the whipped cream first. One nice waitress came over and asked "you want more whipped cream?" to which they eagerly replied "yes!" The owner was super friendly and was working hard at the griddle. Even during one phone call to the restaurant in which he appeared to tell the prankster off, he still did it was a giant smile on his face - the man loves his job, I guess. They make everything from scratch, including their soups they buy everything they can from local farms they hire handicap people giving them opportunities the owner. Brian is amazing. We heard about it all the way out in Vegas and we had to stop in for breakfast. From flaming Bananas Foster topping on my waffle to the very well balanced Irish Coffee, this place is a solid Five Star hit in my playbook. Garretts Mills is a great example of a mom and pop shop. I went there 2 mornings in a row while visiting from out of town. Both days we spoke with the owner/cook and heard all about the local fresh vegetables and ingredients. The food and service round off the positive experience that we had. We found this gem after moving to Stow and it quickly became one of our favorite spots for that classic breakfast! The owner is incredibly kind always going above and beyond with his service. What a nice surprise this little diner was. We had a big party. The first thing the cook did was ask if there were any special dietary considerations, and when we told him there were a few vegans, he created special wonderful plates for them. The service was so friendly and helpful. The menu was very diverse. Everything everyone had was fantastic, and they have little cranberry scones to start off with. Went for breakfast recently. The menu does have some unique items like deep fried French toast but I went with a ham and cheese omelette with a "salted caramel hot chocolate". The omelette was okay - but the visible square of American cheese lightly melted on top was off putting somehow (especially when there wasn't much cheese inside). You have to ask for jelly, and then you have to specify what flavor and then they only give you a packet or two of that, no picking your own. Same with ketchup - you get a small dish with some ketchup in it, you don't get the bottle. I like a lot of ketchup with my eggs and potatoes so this was kind of a pain. And I didn't get my drink until after I was served my food, and the mug had caramel sauce dripping down the outside of the mug on all sides - so much so that the mug was glued to the saucer so it was hard to lift to drink, and you ended up getting really sticky in the process. The food wasn't bad tasting but all the other inconveniences just dampened the whole experience and made us not want to come back. read more

Pancakes were really good - more like crepes than traditional pancakes. We were there on a Saturday so I did expect it to be busy but we were seated right away so there was no reason to think that it would be the same for our service and food. But our order wasn't taken for at least 20 minutes and the wait for our food was even longer. We were brought a small sample packet of biscotti (just a very small piece of biscotti inside) but no apology or acknowledgement of the long wait. I know it's not always like this, but it is the reason for the one missing star in my review. Nevertheless, it won't keep me from returning and I recommend Garrett's Mill- just maybe not on a Saturday. read more

What a nice hidden gem! Met up to have breakfast somewhere in between both of our stops. Small little diner. The food was phenomenal! The waffle was delicious, the chicken was moist and juicy, and they served real maple syrup! The breakfast sandwich was fat, eggs fluffy, bacon was thick, and the croissant was perfection! The potatoes were crispy and not overly seasoned. I thought that the coffee was a little overpriced for the taste, but it was unlimited, and they offered us to go cups before we left. It was looking like a great place but some small changes could be made to make a HUGE difference. 1) less tables (if you are too crowded for a proper bussing station then you have over packed) 2) MOVE THE BUSSING STATION OUT OF VIEW! Had watermelon blueberry melon cantaloupe banana and mandarin oranges. Delicious and best variety of fruit. Next was omelette it came with four slices of toast. It was good as well.
