    Shrimp cocktail French onion soup

I've lived in Geneva for 3.5 years and have never been to Edgar's. My Mom wanted to go for my daughters birthday. We went during the week and it was not busy. It is somehow both grand and dated. It's a restaurant that was/is fancy but not much has changed in 30 years. The staff and service were awesome. This is a fun spot for a celebration because they fix up the dessert plates really well. The food was good not outstanding. My husband and I split several dishes. Our window was drafty so it was pretty chilly. Overall it was a good spot for a special occasion. Delmonico Steaks

Very picturesque setting in Belhurst castle. Our server, Lexi, was very nice and made sure we had a good meal. My filet mignon was big and tasty, as was my raspberry salad and French onion soup. Desert was also good.

Wow. I am not one to make a review but I feel the need to share a warning with anyone looking to come here. We wish we could have chosen another restaurant but came here for our 5th wedding anniversary. Please be warned that your bill will be very high and the food will be a disappointment. While the grounds are gorgeous, the interior decor is very dated. The restaurant felt as if we were still eating in the 80s or 90s and I'm sure the menu has not changed much since then. We ordered scallops served over pasta at "market price" and wrongly assumed the price would be comparable to others. My husband ordered chicken parmesan over risotto. The chicken parmesan was underwhelming yet cost us $38. The scallops were salty and the pasta was oily and disappointing. To our surprise, the scallops were a whopping $60 and didn't include any sides or salad. I'll include pictures of what we ordered but please note that the food is a 2 out of 5 but you will pay the price of a 5 out of 5 restaurant. We ordered two cups of soup, a calamari appetizer, and the 2 entrees mentioned before. Our total bill was $145! Completely disappointing. Save your money and use it to go to a restaurant that's worth the price.

We definitely enjoyed our meal at Edgar's! Lexi, our server, was well versed with my needing to eat gluten free and all around did a wonderful job. We had the shrimp cocktail which was delicious. We had the escargot too, it was a bit heavy on the wine part of the sauce but overall was tasty. My boyfriend and I shared the filet mignon and the duck. Both were done very nicely. The decor in the restaurant was stunning. We would love to go back for another visit next time we're up!

Sand and rocks for $60. And though was inedible they charged us 1/2. Thieves.

I have had many good and bad experiences. This is probably one of the worst ones. We can here for lunch and had a reservation. We were asked to wait in the bar until the table was available. Notice that other families can in after us with the same number of people and reservation after ours and we're seated. I presume that that's because they decided to stand near the hostess and not go to the bar. After a long while and no one coming to get us I came out and after more time and conversation we're seated. The service at the tables was not any better. It took forever to get appetizers and even longer to get food. The food was AWEFUL. all entrees are expensive. As example we ordered scallops. It was INEDIBLE. LOOK at the picture and you will see the grains of sand and shell that look like rocks!!! Ordered pork chop medium. It came out cold and Grey and definitely WAS NOT prepared fresh but reheated (and tasted reheated and dry. Duck breast also was inedible. Not fresh reheated and not rare. See pics. We didn't eat scallops and had a bite of pork chop. We notified the waiter about the issues immediate but they basically refused to take ANYTHING OFF THE CHECK. After further discussion they took 1/2 off scallops and did not even apologize. Next day I was sick as a dog - perhaps the pork wasn't fresh after all. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE PLAGUE. THE PEOPLE ARE UNPROFESSIONAL RUDE AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU HEALTH DEPARTMENT SHOULD REALLY INVESTIGATE.

Beautiful grounds if the weather is good. On Seneca Lake....gorgeous. Wine spigot in the hotel hallway ( limited to one glass per person). We received a coupon for the wine tasting with 10% off of alcohol purchases in the store. The Continental breakfast had a nice assortment of drinks and cold items. Negatives: one word comes to mind...dated. Our room was small with a very limited lake view. The windows haven't been cleaned in a very long time. The television is tiny, like a computer monitor. The spring rod to the curtains kept springing off every time I tried to open or close the drape. The shower is tiny and you can barely turn around. There are few outlets, the only ones I was able to access that worked were in the bathroom ( only one of the double outlet was functional). The carpet in our room appeared to be about thirty years old and worn. This room, called the clay room was advertised on the website to have a queen bed and a refurbished bathroom. The bathroom has not been touched in years and the queen bed turned out to be a full-size bed. Stonecutters: wonderful waitress, who kept our beverages filled and was attentive. My broccoli cheddar soup had negligible cheddar or broccoli. My salad with grilled shrimp was okay. My husband's Cuban sandwich arrived on a stale roll and he thought the fries (weirdly shaped) were reheated. His chili arrived lukewarm. Not a good experience overall. Despite this, the staff are lovely, upbeat and helpful.

My husband and I have been to Ravines Wine Cellars several times since 'discovering them' during a special farm-to-table dinner and wine pairing at Good Luck a few years back. That night we enjoyed a 5-course meal and each course was paired with a different wine. It was the first time we ever experienced drinking finger lakes wines that we really enjoyed and could see ourselves buying for private consumption! Shortly after that, we made the trip out to the wine cellar in Geneva to do a tasting. On our first trip, we did the wine and cheese tasting - loved everything and went home with a bottle of Meritage. On the second trip, we did the wine and chocolate tasting (which features chocolates from Hedonist) and came home with a bottle of the Vignoles. Fast forward another couple of years and we took advantage of a holiday event which featured food pairing tastings from Brown Hound Bistro at the Ravines location in Hammondsport. We left with several bottles of wine for holiday gifts. Every experience was great, with friendly and knowledgeable people, enjoyable atmospheres and yummy goodness. Most recently, I was lucky to attend a special dinner at the Ravinous Kitchen as part of a company event. There were 12 of us for a 6-course meal on a Sunday evening (usually they are closed at this time). Included was a tour of the winery and wine cellar, with time spent with the owner and the head chef. It was amazing. The chef prepared really, really delicious dishes for each wine: --We started with glasses of their 2009 sparkling Brut Rose which was delicious. Paired with a bacon puff and served with herbed crème fresh, this was a lovely little bite. --Next, while we were in the cellar, we were served a parsnip bisque with caramelized cheese. We ate that while tasting their 'new' 2015 Meritage right out of the barrel. It was cool in the cellar and the bisque and wine was a perfect little warm up. --First of the 'mains' was a large serving of local Lively Run chevre, with a side of kale and some pomegranate drizzle, served with their 2015 dry Riesling. They also gave each of us a fresh baked roll, and mine was gluten free - the most perfect gluten free roll I've ever had - truly crusty and 'French-bread-like'. I could have died happy after eating this course. --Second 'main' was a stuffed squash with some kind of spinach or creamed green inside. This was doused in brown butter and served with a smear of red miso. The dish was served with their 2013 Pinot Noir. Holy deliciousness. Unlike any squash dish I've ever had, this was definitely the table favorite. Super savory and umami, great depth. Super yum. --Final 'main' was braised beef short rib served with shaved brussels sprouts and a mushroom 'cream' made by roasting a medley of mushrooms and pureeing them with cream. This dish was served with au jus and the 2013 Maximilian red. A rich, delicious combination. I have to admit at this point I was over the top stuffed, but even so, when the chef brought out extra servings of the short ribs, I forced myself to have a bit more. The au jus was delicious and the meat was totally fall-apart tender. So good. --For dessert, we were served a butterscotch 'risotto' - basically a rice pudding with white chocolate, apricots and toasted oats. This was served with the Vignoles. Take a bite and a swig and swirl them in your mouth - flavor explosion! I really love the Vignoles. Even those at the table who are not fans of dessert wines/ports/ice wines drank every drop! (Too bad because I was offering to finish whatever anyone wasn't going to drink, but no takers....) Ravines is definitely at the tippy top of my list of favorite wineries and experiences in the finger lakes. And with all the new awesome eateries in Geneva and the focus on making the little college town a foodie destination, I highly recommend you join the Ravinous club, rent an Airbnb and go there to spend a weekend of eating, drinking and merriment!

I also ordered a side of white Alabama sauce, it was so delicious. Plenty of seating inside and a ton of varied seating outside with a lot of shade from sun. We almost left when we saw the long line out the door, so glad we stuck it out. We waited about 30 minutes just to order. Then the sign said "45 minutes to get your food after you order". Thankfully ours came in 20 minutes. Worth the wait if it took longer though. I would go back frequently if it wasn't a full hour from my house, but I'm already dreaming of going back. Food was good (not the best I have had in New York) Cons. I absolutely hated that I waited in line just to order for 30 mins. Then I found a table just to wait at least another 45 for my food. I have never waited this long for BBQ. You serve your self to get your drink and bbq sauce since they don't add any sauce or put any out on the table like most bbq places. This day they only had one sauce out. The honey mustard. Both the original and the hot bbq sauce were empty. I told the bartender and still nothing. This was a big disappointment to me. This place is a one and done for me. I don't feel I need to go back.
