On time, thorough and polite. Removed some mold on siding and cleared spider webs in garage.

Unfortunately, they have terrible customer service. We signed up and had specific requests that they ensured would not be a problem to follow through on. However, they consistently made mistakes and when I attempted to call there customer service I made to feel as though it was my problem. Very unhappy with them and I would not recommend using them in the future. read more

Nick B. & Jamal M. were professional, fast, and friendly. They took care of everything I asked them to and answered all my questions.

Robert Martin originally came out to our house close to a month ago to treat it for spiders & other bugs. We noticed a steep decline in bugs from the start. There were some persistent spiders so Robert came back out today free of charge & took care of everything we asked. We've been very pleased with the service & Robert has been great! read more

First, them sell person promise this is not a chemical but them product is made from some kind of flower. Appear that is the first lye. Second they didn't do the job what they were promise. To spray all property, thats what them paperwork show. Third, when you sign with this guys, you sign a contract for one year, but you will find after word, because the fine print is not on the bottom of the page but is hidden between the colorful pictures between the paragraphs. That haven't been explain but rather hidden from your intentionally. They send an individual and He did his job just under 3,5 minutes. His little box/machine (10"X10" in size) broke down and He disperse the granules type product by hand, then stuck in my hands a paper to sign which state I receive the service. Any one can imagine a service just for 3,5 minutes what service that will be. When I ask him what product this is.... Answer was... a pure chemical. I sed to him, the sell person promise I will have non mosquitos and the product is green. Don't worry about. You are in good hands. I did make, so many phone calls to the office with promise some one will call me back. No one call back. 100% satisfaction warranty mean nothing for these guys. Our house is in Burr Ridge and I don't recommend to any one using this "ECO Shield" company. BEWARE!!! read more

SCAM ALERT!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Please, please do not use this company. They won't tell you up front, but there is supposedly a signed contract and they will get you for a year. The customer service is terrible, and the pest service itself is not good. You will continue to get bugs. In reading a review for another Eco Shield out of state, someone had this same problem and contacted the Better Business Bureau. I beg all to not use this company and with any luck, they will be shut down. If they come to your neighborhood, they will make it sound like you're getting a good deal, and a discount, but you're stuck in it. read more

They are horrible... we called them since we did have an issue... the first time they show up at your house they are very professional and do a decent job... they sneak in the fact that you need to sign up for 1 year service and 4 additional charges for nothing. the services they claim they do are false.. all they do is walk around and spray a little again. My son was home when they claimed they went through the house when I went into the basement the cobwebs were still there nice and dry they did NOTHING.... I to wish I could give them a zero... just glad my year is over.... read more

Beware serious . Did not significantly reduce bugs or pests for me. Scam like door-to-door sales person behavior and tricky two-year service agreements. I stupidly!!! agreed to using EcoShield service :( . The sales person had a Paper and pen that I signed to receive a service. I was told verbally I could cancel anytime if I wasn't happy ( i was not at all!!!!) . I'm kicking myself now because apparently what I signed a contract for two years very sad.! I would be fine paying for service if it actually reduced bugs and pests; however, I continue to find ants and bugs spiders in the walls , outside and sometimes inside our house and did i forget ants too! . I receive a text message, email and phone call every month before "scheduled service," but they seldom show up as scheduled. I m very disappointed with this company going to try a different one.!!! read more

The company is a joke. Door to door salesmen, high pressure tactics. If I would have seen these reviews before it would have saved me a lot of time and trouble. They tell you that their contract is 1 year. No problem. Then after a year, we went to cancel service. They then say it's for 24 months! Who the hell would spend $1,000.00 over the course of 2 years to get rid of bugs that you can do yourself? I wouldn't and if they didn't lie, they wouldn't have got me on this one. However, lesson learned. Scam companies like this need to go the way of the Dodo and perish. I can imagine that amount of time they must be in court being sued by people for things like this. Probably so much that I can't figure out how they have time to do pest control! lol. So...now that Ecoshield has come and went, I will NEVER even listen to ANY door to door salesman ever again and slam the door in anyone face that ever even approaches and tries to sell anything to us. On top of that, after inspecting their last treatment, I see that there is a 10+ inch hornets nest hanging off the gutter on the top floor of the house that they didn't take care of! That alone should be grounds for non-performance of contract! They just sprayed 2 days ago and these hornets are flourishing! read more

Been using ecoshield for over a year and have been very happy. They are nice and courteous every time. I love the guarantees of no pests. Signed up under the door to door neighborhood scam that others have referenced. Lead to believe that pricing was locked in but that it wasn't a contract. Service is horrible and hasn't worked and when I've had a pest issue I've left unreturned phone calls and eventually had to hire someone else to come out to take care of it. So with the New Year I've decided to cancel but due to other reviews I anticipate it won't be an easy process. The young lady I spoke to said I'll be receiving a call today from a manager named Srantos or something along the lines. I will update my review and document the process. I would not recommend this company to anyone at this point and am considering filing a complaint with the BBB. read more

My experience with EcoShield Pest Control is the same as so many others who have rated them poorly. If I could give zero stars, I would! Fast talking sales people, poor scheduling and administration, non existent customer service. Certainly not a company with sound business practices.I would encourage people to submit complaints to the Illinois Attorney General's office. They will certainly take notice and investigate if they receive multiple complaints. read more

I wanted to like these guys....I really did. BUT, they are just plain dumb business people. I like to do as much as possible via online tools. Apparently, the card I originally used has expired. I wanted to update it myself, rather than tell somebody my information over the phone. I have been trying to gain access to an online portal. But the useless person that answers the "contact us" icon not only couldn't help me, she didn't even provide me with a URL that belongs to this company! Should it be difficult to find the customer access portal for any business???? After nearly one dozen email exchanges, I finally fired her and the company. I still have no idea how to access my information online. As luck would have it, I received a notice in the mail regarding my past due balance. I will pay it and refuse to let them on my property again, as I don't think that the customer service rep actually understood that I was actually firing/canceling them.....Terrible Business people. read more

EcoShield West Chicago deserves a 0 star rating. Been with them for 5 years, and they never eliminated the bugs. They claim on Facebook they have a 100% money back guarantee but they won't stand behind that advertisement. Have had service managers out to the house and they don't eliminate the pests either. Do yourself a favor and use another company.... any... other.... company!!! read more

Is there a negative stars option??? Everything the other reviewers have said about being locked into a contract, poor customer service and unskilled technicians is spot on correct. I had to laugh when one of their door-to-door flunkies appeared at my house. He had no clue I had already been suckered into a contract and was an existing (albeit reluctant) customer. I told him I had a service and he promptly started bashing the unknown competitor. Then he switched tactics to tell me how they worked with a "bunch of my neighbors". When pressed for specifics he could provide none. I just contacted them to advise the 24 month contract I signed in June 2014 was up and I wanted no further treatments (they are a complete waste of money). Immediately I was advised the 24 month agreement is 9 treatments and I've only had 7. Fine...do the 2 remaining treatments and I'll make certain I tell everyone I can find to avoid this company like the PLAGUE!!! I'd rather deal with spiders than EcoShield! read more

Ecoshield is an A- accredited business on BBB, which is good. However, their sales pitch persistence and REAL online reviews via Angie's List are a red flag to me. It seems like you sign your life away on a contract for something that is rarely delivered on. I've read multiple places that if you decide to cancel your service it's like a cell phone contract where you pay a $200 termination fee. This wasn't discussed on any sales pitch to date. Couple that with the constant barrage of these sales pitches and misinformation on species that actually reside within our area, (i.e. Brown Recluse spiders rarely live in the Chicago area!), I wouldn't give this company my business. Buyer beware with this product and if you already got sucked into the sales pitch I hope everything works out for you. Based on my experience I would not recommend this company however I would prefer to go with a much more proven company like Orkin. read more

Scam. 200 cancellation fee was not explained by salesman. after first visit , the thoroughness of service is poor. Run from these guys.

BEWARE!!! I'D GIVE ZERO STARS IF IT WERE POSSIBLE.... One of Eco shield's sales man showed up at our house explaining that they have a deal going on to do a 1 time extermination spray around our property and in our house, and will do a follow up 4 weeks later to rid of the newly hatched babies and power wash all of the wasp nests, and spider sacs down. ALSO TO ADD IT WAS A ONE TIME FEE OF $125. Well 1 week later our ant and bug problem became extremely worse to the point where we had them come out and do it again. We were very adamant that we were more concerned about the carpenter ants eating holes on our siding, THEY NEVER EVEN SPRAYED IT!!! So 3 weeks later they came without any notice and while we were gone to do the final followup to power wash and spray so they say. I look at my bank account and they charged us another $125, and not to mention they never even power washed any of the wasp nest or spider sacs they said they would, as far as I know they did nothing. We called their horrible customer service and they said that if we wanted to cancel they would charge us another $175 for canceling our quarterly contract the sales man signed us up for. We kept trying to explain that we signed up for a ONE TIME DEAL, ONE TIME FEE. They didn't care they said call when the manager is here and they'll deal with our concerns. So far its been a week and we still haven't been able to get a hold of any manager. SO please take our advice and avoid ECO SHIELD, find someone else or you'd be better off doing it yourself because they are useless. AND I STILL HAVE BUG ISSUES. read more

Horrible customer service. This company is great at delivering the perfect sales pitch. When it comes time for service they fail miserably. I experienced a situation where the driver parked in front of my house for 45 minutes, did nothing and then billed me. Glad I videotaped the whole thing. Always leave a bill and no evidence any work was done. I waited 2 weeks for someone to come out to treat a wasp problem. Since they always come and service without me being home, it would make sense they would be doing that to treat the wasp problem. Nope, I get a message they are refusing service because I'm not home. Cmon....are you kidding!!!! I'm done with this company. read more

I signed up for a two - year contract with EcoShield after a Sales Person knocked on my door, and explained that EcoShield was an eco - friendly, effective way to get rid of pests. Based on his sales pitch, I decided to give it a try. I have to say that the Sales People and Office Staff were always courteous, but I had to repeatedly contact EcoShield to have them come back and reapply their pest control applications because I continued to get bugs. I attempted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but after two years of constantly calling and still having problems, I had to finally say...."enough is enough". The latest episode involved an infestation of ants on my deck, and side of my house. I contacted EcoShield to come back out and respray (after I had paid the $125.00 quarterly application fee in May). They came back approximately two weeks later and resprayed. Still no success! At this point the ants were crawling in my dogs bowl, and all over the furniture on the deck. I contacted EcoShield once again to respray. They came back a week later and resprayed. Still.....NO SUCCESS! I still had this infestation of ants! I contacted them again....this time a Manager came by, and a more mindful employee. The employee found the primary nest of the ants, and sprayed it. Two weeks later, I still had a massive amount of ants! I couldn't take it anymore, and inquired about the product. I was concerned that the product that they were using may not have the proper strength to get rid of the ants. After multiple phone calls and requests for a Manager to call me back, I opted out of the service. The service required too many re-applications of the product, and really did not fix my pest problem. I decided to go with a competitor's service, and after one application, the problem was fixed. I requested that EcoShield reimburse me for my last $125.00 payment, but the Manager never returned my call. I can only give this company 1 star, and that is because before I cancelled the service, they were very responsive, but the product just wasn't strong enough to address my pest problem. read more

Went through the motions, set out baits but did nothing to discover or block rodent ingress to the house. This only guarantees that you will have to call them again. Used Bugs Anonymous, and they did a GREAT JOB. Searched for all access points in the basement, blocked them with steel wool, recommended steps to be taken to solve the problem permanently. read more

Completely fraudulent....DO NOT SIGN UP!! Sales rep comes to door with ipad for signatures of service. "You can cancel anytime." Then the technician comes out and has property resident (not home owner) sign a service agreement which commits to a year service...or you have to pay a penalty. AND DOESN'T even point out the contract to the home owner...who is paying for the service. Contacting the Better Business Bureau and anyone who can possibly put a stop to this company. DO NOT TRUST THEM! read more

We fired Terminix and Orkin years ago because their service was so poor. Orkin charged us for one wasp visit what Eco charges for an entire year. Neither company ever got rid of the wasps let alone the other issues we've had. I had Orkin for a year, and Terminix for one year. 0-2. We've had EcoShield now for over 5 years. Ecoshield has been a phenomenal upgrade - we have no wasp issues in the warm months, no ant issues in the fall and they're really getting to the heart of the mouse problem. They always come out when called for follow ups and their techs are professional. The chemicals they use are all pet friendly (we have 2 dogs) and we dont get the dreaded overspray. Our newest tech, Robby by far has been the best technician we have had out. We've been fighting mice for the past three fall/winters and so far he has been the one to spend the most time to get to the root of the problem and fix it - and then explain it and schedule a follow up. This is how service should be. You've earned my business for another year. read more

We've had these guys come out a few times but finally came to our senses and cancelled the contract. They send youngsters who seem less than enthused and just sporadically walk around and spray here and there. We didn't really see a difference with the bugs before and after their visits. The worst part is the customer service when you call the office. They schedule you for an appointment, then send out text reminders with the wrong dates or times or both. When you call them to correct it they get snooty and say oh well, we don't have that appointment anymore, pick another time or day. When I said I wanted to cancel the contract altogether the girl all of a sudden could squeeze me in at the original appointment time (imagine that). I insisted that I wanted to cancel and she put me on hold. After 10 minutes I gave up and called back. The same girl chastised me for hanging up, put me on hold again and then hung up on me. When I finally got a hold of the manager he, too, offered me the original appointment and a discount on the future visits. I said no thanks and he apologized half-heartedly "for the inconvenience" and I could hear a girl chuckle in the background. Very unprofessional people. Won't be using them again. read more

Their technicians are polite and friendly and call you ahead of starting the service. That is the only good thing I can say for this company. Their product does not work. The ants in my mailbox are live and healthy and I have to still swat my mail on the mailbox to get rid of the ants before opening any envelopes. The spiders - still there. Ants - no difference. The icing on the cake is when you call their customer service and complain that the bugs are not taken care of. They told me - the bugs outside is good because that means they were flushed out from inside my home. Well that's fine and dandy but I still got bugs inside too. If the service did not cost me an arm and a leg, I'd have really laughed out loud at their asinine logic. Once you sign up, you pay for the entire year. No escape clauses. How bad are they? Think Comcast. That bad. Major league, you know! And they can send the techs out for a reservice at no cost to you. Except the cost from staying home on a workday. And the hassle. And the bugs, of course. Stay away and get some borax from your grocery store. Or spray some water on the bugs. I am sure it will have the same negligible effect that EcoShield's service has. read more

I really think I got taken by these guys. The cute little salesperson came in talking with a story about leaving her husband and baby back in Colorado or Utah. I felt so sorry for her that I, of course, wanted to give her business. She kept saying, "And it's such a great rate right now, it's ONLY $145.00 Well, I signed without paying much attention cause I'm so trusting and it ended up being 5X$145 for a year which I think is a lot when I really didn't have a bug problem. Just wanted to keep it that way. They take your credit card and keep charging it until you quit . . . which I did after the second and third charges when I realized what had happened. They charge you a huge penalty for discontinuing the service and really weren't interested in my perception of what had transpired. Shame on me. Just beware and read everything. They've now sent me to a collection agency cause I'm too mad to pay and am trying to work through the Better Business Bureau. read more

I usually try to contact the company first, but Ecoshield has treated our house twice, and we continue to walk into spider webs when exiting our sliding door exit onto the deck. We brush cobwebs off as we sit at our deck table and chairs. When I cleaned off our front porch, I not only noticed a ton of cobwebs on our fall wreath on the front door, but I also witnessed a giant spider trying to escape with his life!! We will cancel. We also own a lake house in Wisconsin. We pay $39/month and we literally have NO issues. I wish the same service and fees would be available here. read more

1) My first mistake was signing a contract presented by a door-to-door salesman. I did need a pest control service, so I listened to his presentation. He used names of my neighbors to indicate that they had signed up for his service. I found out later that the neighbors had not signed up for the service. I also found out that he used my name to try to convince my neighbors to sign up. 2) They told me that they would come to the house to treat the bugs at 12:00 but didn't show up until 1:00 and he had invited neighbors over to watch. 3) The tech who came to the house was not licensed although I understand that an unlicensed tech can work under the license of someone else. Unfortunately the tech did not have much training. He didn't wear gloves or a mask when handling the chemicals. When I asked him about gloves and /or a mask, he said that he "ran out" of them. I thought this exhibited a lack of understanding about the chemicals that he was using. He sprayed over his head and the chemicals fell right on his face. 4) When he sprayed "pheromones" on the eaves which he said would cause the bugs to stay away, he got chemicals all over my windows. When I called his manager, she said that some people want to have their windows "drenched". No one asked me if I wanted chemicals all over my windows, nor did they tell me that they were going to get chemicals on the windows. Now I have to have the windows washed just because the tech was sloppy. I told the manager that I did not want to wash the windows on a 2 story house after every time they come to treat pests. 5) The tech checked off areas of the house as inspected that he never even entered let alone inspected. Obviously he didn't treat those areas. When I told the manager, she offered to change the record of the treatment. She did not seem at all concerned about the fact that he misrepresented his services. Unlike the other reviewer, I followed the tech around and watched what he did. They said that this 1st treatment was worth $250, but everyone is offered a discount to get you to sign the contract. I have used pest control services for years - there is no way this service was worth $250, based on my experiences. 6) The contract requires 4 treatments per year. That treatment in January may be useful to their clients in California or Georgia, but I don't have many bugs in January here in Chicago. I said that I didn't want the 4th treatment -- but that is their contract, they always charge for 4 treatments per year. 7) After the first treatment, I checked Angie's List and called the top rated pest control companies. I found that they charged, on average, $100 less than Eco Shield. They just opened their Illinois office in early June 2011. The high pressure and misleading sales style, minimally trained technician and fact that they are over-priced make me very unhappy with their services. Don't make the mistake that I did - they charge you a lot to get out of the contract. read more

Bad company, do not let yourself get in their trap. The sell person show up in your house, and promise you everything. The product was not being effective, try to call them with no response. Finally after many trials I was able to talk to a customer representative who was very rude. I decided to cancel the service and the sell person wrote in my contract I can cancel at any time. Now I am getting invoices from them for a cancelation fee. The product is not effective, the company and customer service is terrible and sell people lie to you. We had another popular pest company and they did basically NOTHING. They wandered around the house for 5 minutes and left. I called before they got down the street (they had not rung the door bell, I just caught sight of them out the window) and the person said they'd call and come another day. This happened several times. I cancelled. I got EcoShield and they actually have been eliminating wasp nests, spider nests (bad year for those!) and did the granular stuff on the lawn. We stopped the granular stuff, as our dog turned out to be allergic (not EcoShield's fault) but since they were last out we have a bunch more spiders creating nests by our windows. I called and we are scheduled for a re-treatment- which is a free service. They do a pretty good job. The spiders were gone last time...but they came back. It is part of living in the country...there are three horse farms across the road from our little subdivision, so these pests are a common and recurring problem, no fault of the pest company. I disagree with some people that they are totally a scam. Maybe it makes a difference where you live - there are multiple locations run by different people. Ours are nice to deal with, they reschedule if you need them without complaint and at no charge. read more
