Econo Air is a great company that is honest and has fair pricing. I have been using them for about 10 years with annual maintenance for my Lennox HVAC system. In January I did my annual maintenance and everything was working fine. Then today, at the end of.April, I heard a strange noise coming from my AC unit. I called Econo Air and they sent out Ryan the same day. I thought my fan motor might be going out. Ryan quickly diagnosed the problem. He discovered it was just a loose screw on the access panel to the compressor. I love their work ethic. Also the fact they tell you just what you need not try to upsell you. read more

Since this was obviously a scare tactic to get us to buy a new unit we sought out a second opinion. Turns out it was a $15 fuse that was burnt out on the unit!!! It works fine now and I will NEVER trust this company again! They stole $99 dollars from me by sending out a man that was either a) a sleezeball con artist, or b) crippled with a learning disability that makes him unable to perform his job. Econo Air installed a forced air heating system for us a year ago and we were very impressed with the owner and the technicians. We were given a good price and they were very professional. Even fixed a potential problem with the existing air conditioner at no charge. So when we had an issue with a different heater we called Econo Air. Richardo inspected the system, found the problem in a timely manner and replaced the faulty part. We're happy, we have heat again. He did a good job and was courteous and wore a mask & booties. Beware, I was almost taken for $10,000, literally. I don't write negative reviews, but I feel it is my responsabilty to write this one. I was on a month to month payment plan with this company, which includes twice a year "service" for your heating and A/C. Six months ago, the service man told me I needed a new shut-off valve on the heating system in the attic, in case of "earthquakes". Recently a man from SoCal Gas Co came to the house and I asked him whether I actually needed to replace this value. He told me that the gas for the entire house shut off from the main value in case of earthquake; a value on the heating system was absolutely not necessary at all. BUT the worst was recently when they came to "check" the A/C system. The "head service man" came to me and said very dramatically that the electric motor on the A/C was completely broken, gone, useless, and that a new compressor was $10,000 and that I really had no choice. He was very, very categorical; it was $10,000, and I just had to get used to the idea, and he could offer me credit. For that money, I called for a second opinion from my trusted appliance repair man with whom I have many years of experience. He came, went to the compressor, came back 5 minutes later and said, "There is absolutely nothing wrong with your A/C except that the wire to the electric motor was loosened". He tightened the wire (I'LL NEVER KNOW IF ECONOAIR UNDID THE WIRE TO THE ELECTRIC MOTOR, but I find it very hard to believe the story that my appliance repair man saw the issue immediately and they didn't) and my A/C has been running perfectly now for several months, all thru this hot summer. He was there for 20 minutes and charged me $200. Not $10,000. I sincerely question the honesty of this company; always get a second opinion if you ever decide to deal with them. I've been a loyal customer with Econo Air since 2008. I've spent thousands of dollars with them. God only knows how much they've over charged me for there services. Most recently they came to my house for a bi-yearly maintenance agreement that I've had for many years. The technician that did the services told my wife that we needed a new electrical panel, as the one we had was a 100 amp. He suggested to my wife that we needed an upgrade to 200 amps. This was due because our house was built in 1988 and because of today technology it was recommended to upgrade. There was a lot of burnt marks around the circuit breakers and this could of short circuited thus causing a fire. He gave us a quote of around $8,995.00. I told my wife that it was to much money so I started getting a few quotes. We were able to find an outstanding electrician to do the same quality of work for by far much less money. The quote was $1,700.00 for everything including permits from our city. I called Econo Air and expressed my frustrations but to no avail. I told them, I no longer wanted to do business with them. I even asked to speak to their manager and he has yet to call me back. I will never ever allow Econo Air to step foot on our property again. Can you imagine how much and for how long they have ripped off this loyal customer and God only knows how many others. This statement is true and I have nothing but ill feelings about Econo Air. One star is being generous. My heat was not working and I called Econo Air as it seemed a reputable company. The young man came, inspected the heating unit and said it was bad, and gave me quote of $2,995. I couldn't believe it. Then he said, "how much is it worth to you?"n I couldn't believe it. I paid the inspection fee but that is all. A friend of the family recommended and I contacted Fire and Ice heating and air and they fixed it for $135, in 30 minutes! First, I must say that Econo Air installed our heating/air conditioning system almost 20 years ago! The installation was excellent and performed with professionalism. Did not have a problem with my unit until recently. Having issue with heating system turning on consistently. Econo Air came out in early March to diagnose a heating problem. Ryan came out to diagnose. His overall diagnosis was that system as a whole is beginning to wear. I can tell you that I was very impressed with Monique inside the office. Because a specific diagnosis was not provided, Econo Air promised me a refund of service call. The refund was late in arriving. I called and spoke to Monique. Monique jumped on it immediately and resolved the issue! When I am ready for a replacement system, Econo Air will definitely be on my short list! They have not disappointed me thus far. read more

Ever since Econo Air installed a new A/C unit on my house last year in October, I received numerous letter from city for an inspection early this year. So I called Econo Air and talked to Matt, operation manager. I guessed they did not perform HERS test after installation. A guy from Econo Air came out and conducted the HERS test and I was informed that Econo Air will take care of the inspection in prompt manner. About six months later, I got a letter from city, stating that the inspection is not complete. I personally took time off from my work and scheduled an inspection from city. When the inspector came out to my house, the inspection can not be completed because I do not have the HERS test report which was never given to me from Econo Air. I contacted the Econo Air again and spoke to Matt again. Matt ensured me that he will personally submit the paperwork to city on the same day and give me a confirmation call. A week passed and I called the city to confirm if the inspection is finally completed. Nothing has not been done so far. I strongly urge the consumer to avoid Econo Air if possible!! read more

These guys cannot be trusted. They came to repair my AC. I inspected it the night before and determined that the capacitor was bad and needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, I couldn't solve the issue at 1AM and I had to catch a flight the next morning at 6AM. So my wife called Econo Air. We've used their services for about 8 years now when they first installed our $12,000 central air unit in our first home, then off an on over the years for service and issues like this one. However, this was the first and last time we felt truly screwed by this company. On this most recent occasion, their repair person came to our home, replaced one capacitor and one hard start kit that you can buy at Home Depot for ~$70 and ~$30 respectively, spent less than an hour doing so, and charged us $978 for the effort. Did their repairs work? Yes, but did they also take advantage of my wife being home alone with four kids and no A/C in the hot summer? You're goddamn right they did and when I called to discuss it with their manager, they showed no shame or remorse, but justified and explained that that's how they screw over all their customers, by gouging them with bullshit markups and feigning philanthropic with their diagnosis and acid wash service that they supposedly threw in for free, but the latter of which was neither requested nor desired. Just be careful with these guys or heed my advice and look elsewhere if you're not able or comfortable enough to do repairs like this one yourself. read more

Today was the last day of our business with EconoAir. Our relationship started back like 15 (or even more) years ago. They installed the HVAC on top of the roof and since then we have not had many problems. Ocasional Freon adding, maintenance, replacing filters , etc. It all started with the January 2023 heavy rain... All of the sudden we noticed a leak into the living room. We installed the new roof in December 2018, and my first call was to the roofing company of course. The guy came over, checked everything and found no holes in the roof. However, he found the holes in the platform on which the A/C box was sitting, on top of the roof. Back in 2020, EconoAir did some upgrade, exactly on top of the roof (again, AFTER the new roof was installed). So I called EconoAir and ask for technician to come over and seal the holes. I even arranged the meeting with the roofing guy and technician from EconoAir, so the first one could explain exactly what happed. They both talked, took photos and video and the technician left saying "we would call you back". This was January 19. February I started worrying about the new rain in the forecast and the problem was not solved. I called them every week, then every day, and heard only "they will call you back ". Never did. Then the worst happened. Another rain, another leak, and I called, absolutely desperate, and mentioned a potential lawsuit. They called me right away. Oh, and I also started the case with my insurance company, they put several big and loud fans in my living room to get rid of moisture, they removed the carpet, they started the demolition of the walls. And then two technicians from EconoAir came over to see any leaks, brought a water hose to the roof, told me "yes, it's leaking (what a surprise!) but we can't find from where". And they left. And the same night we had a heavy heavy rain!!! All the work of the drying machines went to hell since we had another flood in the living room. The floor was wet, the exposed wood beams were saturated with water, it was terrible! We have to start all the drying process again (which means 24/7 of turned on fans, for over a week at least, just imagine my electrical bill). I called EconoAir again! And the manager told me, "Ok, we have to come over, lift up the A/C box , pick up the platform, seal everything underneath and put it back. And since your have been our client since ...year and we just performed the job on your house back in 2020, we are going to charge you only $4,000! And this is with a $2,000 discount otherwise you would pay $6,000". What a relief (I say it with sarcasm if you don't detect it)! I asked the manager why should I pay for their mistake and negligence. The manager said "what mistake?" In short, I just gave up, having a medical condition now and getting tired of the mess in the house, I said "ok, let's do it!" Today, four guys came over to do the job, and I hope this is the last day I see the van with "EconoAir" sign on it. And this is the end of the story. No more EconoAir, if I need any maintenance, I find another HVAC company to perform it. Thank you for your business. read more

I am very unhappy with Econo Air in Brea. They came to inspect my AC unit, because I was hearing a noise when starting up. Upon inspection he said the AC unit had several major issues and could die on me at any time and it needed to be replaced (even though 6 months earlier, when they put a multi zone system in, they had assured me that it was in good condition before installing a $10,000 zoning system- that's another whole issue). He then quoted me a price of $20,000 to replace it (just the AC unit). I then had someone else come and give a 2nd opinion and he said there was absolutely nothing wrong with it- that noise was normal. I think he was just trying to take advantage of an older lady. And regarding the zoning system they installed- I originally called them out to get an estimate on a mini split unit for the Familyroom -he talked me into a zoning system at the tone of $10,000 and when I called to complain that I couldn't cool the bedrooms if I was cooling the Familyroom I was told that my heating unit was too small to do more than one zone at a time. If I was told this in the beginning I would have been able to make an informed decision whether I wanted to do multi zoning or my mini split. I would have picked the mini split for half the price and be able to cool more than one part of the house at a time. I do not recommend Econo Air in Brea read more

Towards the end of the SoCal heatwave, yesterday, was met with a last minute water accumulation around an a/c unit. A morning call to Econoair resulted in a mid afternoon service call with Blake. He had been out to our home previously and I was very pleased to see a technician that had done great work before. In about an hour he cleared a clogged condensation line and we had cooler air again. Fast, diligent and honest is how he projects himself. So some preventative maintenance and repair that I was thinking should be done will also happen because of the professionalism of Econoair technician Blake. Back in 2005 in my Norwalk home my ex-wife and I contracted with Econo air. Initially after having a lukewarm experience with one of their salesmen I contacted Econo air and asked if someone else could come out and talk with us. A few days later Mike Richards the owner showed up to hear our concerns and to review their services. We decided that evening to go with econo-air and I'm so glad we did. Fast forward 2 today. I'm now in Lake Elsinore and was pretty sure the HVAC system here was on his last legs. It was. 17 year old house where is quite warm most of the year you know that AC unit has been taxed. Undoubtedly I called econo-air once again. Initially they had a service technician come out and review the system. They advised me what I was already thinking. That afternoon Dylan Richards, Mike's son, came out and went over the details of what my needs were. On August 8th I had a brand new HVAC system put in and I'm very very pleased. In one day Fernando and his crew installed a terrific system. Very hot day and of course they spent most of their time in in the Attic. Not one time did I see any of the crew with a frown on their face, nothing but great attitudes and smiles. Always using booties on their shoes to make sure they don't track anything inside. At the end of the day which was around 7 p.m. I was going over some of the final details with Fernando before he left. What a stand-up guy and a great example of a man who loves what he does and imparts his knowledge with his crew. Always teaching always training. This Friday I am having one of their technicians come out and review the thermostat with me. Want to get it linked to my phone via Wi-Fi so I can use it accordingly. For years they came and always up sold or tried to scare me into spending more. Came late or at times did not even show. Since I dodged call after call I finally told them I was sick of their service. The slick phone sales guy convinced me to try once more. Interestingly I said I needed a filter, but not the EXPENSIVE one. When they came they only had the EXPENSIVE one, but sold it to me for the regular price. I was always being sold the EXPENSIVE one in the past until I figured out just to ask for a different one. My advice, buyer beware. Back to the visit. This time they sent two guys. Got a super review. Fast and no BS. They checked for carbon monoxide and cleaned one of my vents. If it was my first visit I would have given a 5 but since I've been using them since I moved here in 2005 I know from experience they are just average and unfortunately at times below average. read more

Our heating and a/c we purchased about 8 years ago continues to run excellently.We recently had our technician Ryan(whom we use regularly)come over to do a maintenance job.He advised us to do some upgrades on our furnace to keep it running efficiently. I got them through Costco for replacing my HVAC system. The guy come briefly looked at outside of the furnace and compressor, saying a lot about the old house old duct old return, etc. Then sent us a estimate with sky high number ($23,000)for a 1900sf house. The worst part of it: No tonnage of the compressor specified. Upon the inquiry, they said big or small the tonnage, the system have same price. Be aware to this one. read more
