I hired AWS Solar to install solar panels on my home In May 2026. They completed the job a few weeks later. They did a very good jod. I am pleased. However, upon completeing the job, the project manager Tim Broughton called me, helped me log on to the Enphase app so that I could monitor the panels. After I confirmed that I was logged in, I was told that I was up and running And they were done. I was happy thinking I was now running on the sun. Wrong. So very wrong. I received my electric bill and astonished to see the electric portion was over $800.00. I called the power company and was told that the $130.00 application fee had not been paid. I notified Mr. Broughton and he immediatley saw that the bill for the application fee was paid and apologized for the error. Now the fun begins. I called the power company and asked when they would be out to install the proper meter for solar panels. I was informed that no application for a meter to be installed was on file and that I had to submit an application for interconnection. Hmm? No one mentioned anything to me about completing and application or that I had to contact the power company. I completed the PTO (Permission to Operate) form and based on the questions being asked and the information I needed to provide leads me to believe the Solar company was responsible for completing this form and sending the required fee. Ok. Lets not look to for someone to blame, lets just get the proper meter installed. I completed the PTO and submitted it. The power company came out a couple of weeks later and installed the a new meter. Onlyit was not a meter for solar panels. They installed the same new meter but it was the same meter as the meter I already had. I asked them why they didn't put on a solar meter and I was told that I needed to submit a PTO for a SOLAR METER, which is different. And by the way, they have a special person that installs solar meters and a special person to install regular meters. This seemed rather stupid to me. I ask the power comapany rep for the contact info for the solar department and he told he didn't know. I won't name the power company. LADwp. The one good thing the DWP rep did upon arriving to his office was to send an email to contact the proper department at the power company. I assumed he would have just gone about his business and let me flounder. I started on the second application which asked for job site photos. This was to me another indication that the solar installer was suppose to complete this form because Joe Citizen would not know what photos they were required. I did observe that periodically, the workers would take photos, but none were ever sent to me. Now I'm in the middle of August 2026 with fingers, legs, arms, eyes and anything else, maybe the dogs and cats, crossed hoping that this time I will get a meter. The bottom line is I would still recommend AWS SOLAR to anyone, but I'd have to caution them to make sure they get you connected and ALL fees are paid. Because I was dealing with the City of LA and being constantly sent to voice mail and waiting for call backs, this experience was horrendous. read more

The 4th year production shows improvement over the 3rd year as I kept the panels clean. However, it's still about 4.8% below the minimum guaranteed production (accounting 0.25% maximum annual panel degradation). It's 4 year in a row now the system failed to produce the minimum guaranteed production. AWS Solar chose to compensate for the shortfall again; we'll see what the 5th year production looks like. I suggested replacing some of the panels with the higher power ones to solve the issue, but I guess they want to see more data. read more

This is a progress review. I called AWS Solar in September for a quote on installing panels at our residence. I had spoken with two other companies, and AWS not only provided ample information on solar power in general, they were responsive to my questions. Based on that and all of the excellent reviews I read online about them, I chose AWS. I was hoping to take advantage of the California incentive, and the federal tax credit that expires at the end of 2025. I did not expect our panels and battery storage to be installed and operating within a few weeks. It was so fast! Their crew was efficient and professional. My interactions with their sales person, Tim, were always to my satisfaction. We are still waiting for the LADWP to approve and sign off their end of it, and that could take weeks. In the meanwhile, I enjoy looking at my app showing how much power we are generating and how much we are off the grid. I will post an updated once we are officially hooked up with DWP. read more

Now that the job is done I have only good things to say about AWS Solar. We got bids from 5 companies. I recommend going with a company that's large enough to have workers' compensation but not a company that's so big that they cover the whole country. AWS was efficient through the whole process. Tim was my POC and he kept me informed every step of the way. Carlos lead the installation and he came for the site survey, both days of installation, and the city inspection. We got 11 solar panels and 2 Enphase 5kWh batteries. If you're going to get solar panels you might as well go all in and get battery backup so that you can power your home if the grid goes down. The installation team was probably about 6 guys (I didn't count). They were all good and did the installation in 2 days just like they said they would. It's working great so far. There's nothing like watching your electric meter go backwards. read more

We had a 3pm appointment. I text him at 3:45pm legitimately wondering if I read the confirmation wrong. 20 minutes later Tim text me and says "yes we did, but you never gave me your number. AWS Solar installed 25 solar panels and a level 2 charger for us back in 2019 (really hard to believe that it's been a couple years already). At the time, I had zero experience with solar. After speaking with several companies, I ended up going with AWS Solar... and I'm really glad that I did. They thoroughly explained the process, worked with the city to take care of all permits, and helped us get up and running in great time. Today, I was working at home and had the power go off in several rooms in my house. Very odd... so, I checked the breaker box and nothing was tripped. However, I noticed that my level 2 charger was beeping and the display was off on my inverter. I called up Tim to ask if he had any ideas... he told me to hold on for a couple minutes while he checked out a few things, came back on and told me to call my power company; there must be an issue with the power coming in to my house. I followed his advice.. the electric company technician came out to my house and I explained what happened and told him about Tim's assessment. He chuckled and said we'll see... sure enough, Tim was right. Now I have a couple technicians from the power company on their way to fix my issue tomorrow morning. AWS is a truly 5 star operation. Tim did a great job answering my many, many questions and was always available via text or email. The big was very competitive and thoughtfully presented. At the last minute, I got a bit of cold feet and had some final questions, which, again, Tim handled like a pro. After I signed the contract, scheduling the work and getting it done in pieces and in coordination with my roofer was no trouble. Tim also made a couple aesthetic tweaks that I requested regarding the orientation of the panels and the routing of the conduit, since I really wanted it all to look as seamless and clean as possible. Remember, you're going to be looking at that stuff up on your roof for decades. It's been almost a year now since the installation, and I could not be happier. We've been a customer since ~Oct 2021. AWS Solar bid amongst others and we couldn't be happier with the service and clear, responsive conversations, including the planning and installation. However, I'm writing this review because of exceptional extended and continued service from them. A lot of companies will drop the professional and nice persona once you've paid your money and moved on from the initial installation. That has not been the case with AWS Solar. We've called to ask questions about our system and they've replied very quickly. We recently (last week) noted one of our panels was generating zero power and called. AWS Solar said they'd send someone out that afternoon to look. Sure enough, they stopped by and inspected the panel on the 2nd-story roof without even coming into the home. 10 minutes later it was fixed and asked us to wait a few hours for our phone apps to show the improvement. I would recommend AWS Solar to friends and family. read more

These guys did everything perfectly and on time. I wanted a close coordination with a new roof and insulation that I was installing as part of this project, and they were perfect. I worried that they are not as large as many installers, but some of the larger companies had some negative reviews, or some pushy sales practices, or much higher prices. A recent glitch occurred in the internet connection of the smart solar system controller and they were completely responsive and helped me correct it. It has been about a year now that I have had this system and my only negative comments have to do with the monthly connection charge from Edison Electric; however that dropped 4X this month to $11.82. Considering that it looks like I will run a surplus of power for the year with my 28 panel system despite having a PHEV car, I may consider converting my old noisy gas-fired heating system to partial electric heat pump based heating and cooling to reduce my heating bill and provide more uniform cooling in the summer. read more

This is a long overdue review of AWS Solar. About 2 years ago AWS came and installed 31 panels, new electric panel and level 2 charger. The whole experience was simple and they explained everything and patiently answered all questions as I made a decision on which contractor and what system I was going with. Installation time was great with everything cleaned up properly and painted to match, buried pipes covered back up including the turf. They took care of all permits and dealing with the city and got me a ridiculously good finance deal on the whole lot. What makes AWS even better and what has finally reminded me to write this review is that yesterday, almost 2 years after the job was complete I called for advice on installation of additional panels or a battery "power wall" and was treated like an old friend calling for a chat. Again all questions answered and explanations provided to help me understand the benefits. Or indeed the lack of as we would not benefit from a battery power backup so they did not try to sell me something that would not have been of tangible benefit to me at this time. Thanks guys! I started thinking about solar energy many years ago when leasing was very popular. At the time I could not justify the cost of leasing because my savings would have been only a few dollars a month. I had to drop the whole idea at the time. During the pandemic I started thinking about purchasing solar energy and had online sessions with several expensive solar providers, this time their prices were so high that it was difficult to justify their cost against savings. Around March 2021 I used EnergySage, and through them had about five proposals from different solar energy providers. I have to say their prices were more or less the same, but I felt very comfortable with AWS. Tim Broughton, who has been with the company for years, was great. He was always available to answer my calls and texts. I had many questions throughout the process, sometimes I even asked the same question over and over again, but Tim answered all of my questions with great patience, If he did not know the answer to my question he would say let me ask Frank and he would immediately come back to me with a good answer. Tim is very helpful and has a great attitude, although we have never met, but it feels like I have known him for a long time, like a good friend. I would say Tim was the reason I eventually decided to go with AWS. I would recommend AWS for residential solar installation without any reservation. The permit took a little longer than I expected but once they got the permit they installed the whole system next day on 07/09/2021. I did a lot of research before selecting AWS Solar. There are three things to consider when selecting a solar contractor. First, they have to be a quality solar contractor with a proven record. Second, they have to use quality solar panels. And, third they have to be top rate roofing contractor. These guys are all of the above. They provided great service not only during construction, but well after they had been paid and the system had been commissioned and I had questions about the utility bill.
