TL;DR: Rose is incredible. Honest, patient, actually knows solar and is not just a salesperson. She will answer every single question you may have and follows up. Has a professional installation crew and executes flawlessly and everything stays on track. Incredible follow-up and will not try to upsell you like other installers. If you're looking to install solar, you should absolutely go with OneSun. Give Rose a call to at least get a consultation and I'm sure your interaction will immediately stand out from other installers. Installing solar is something I kept putting off. When I found out that the tax credit would be going away at the end of 2025, I realized I couldn't put it off any longer. One of the reasons I kept waiting was how annoying solar reps were. Clearly just sales guys who didn't actually know anything about the equipment, technology, and process. I did a bit of research on local installers and OneSun came up a few times, all with nothing but great things to say and especially highlighted the installer's knowledge and patience. Before reaching out to OneSun, I informed myself as much as I could to the point that I knew what panels I wanted, size system, even what inverters I wanted installed. My first phone call with Rose immediately proved that all of the positive feedback I had read was for a reason. She took the time to actually listen to the specifics of my project, what I was looking for, and what questions I still had based on my research. She took the time to answer every question and even went into the technical details that I was interested in. It was clear that she was extremely familiar with not just the logistics, but also exactly how a solar system works as well as the technical details of all of the components in a system. She had my business after that first meeting but of course I still did my due diligence and got a quote from one other local installer which also had similar reviews. Although the sales rep was very nice, it was clear that he was just a sales rep and only reinforced why OneSun was the installer to go with. OneSun's pricing happened to be better but even if the other installer would have come in at a cheaper quote, I would have still chosen OneSun for the install. Rose started the permit process in July and made sure that everything stayed on track, especially since I wanted to make sure that the system be on before the end of the year in order to qualify for the tax credit. The timelines she provided were right on point and the install was scheduled for September. About a week before the install date, there was an unexpected problem. The panels that were originally planned for my install had gone completely out of stock. There had been some kind of manufacturing issue and those panel would not be coming back in stock for another couple of months which could push the project out to the following year. Rose let me know she could acquire slightly larger panels for the project and install it on schedule. I was about to ask what the additional cost for the larger panels would be, but before I was able to, she let me know that there would be no additional cost to me. I'm sure any other installer would have used the situation as leverage to add additional cost to the project. A testament to Rose's commitment to her customers. On installation day, the crew was professional and efficient. They completed everything in one day and made sure to keep everything as clean and organized as possible. Towards the end of the install, I had noticed that they ran one of the grounding wires out from the attic and down the face of the house where I had planned on completing another project in the near future. I knew that the wire would need to be redirected if it was left there so I asked the foreman if he could run it through a different path. Initially he felt like it would not be possible given the layout. I reached out to Rose just to make sure and see if she possibly had another solution. About 10 minutes later the foreman showed me another possible option which was much better for what I needed. It may have seemed like a small thing, but that was another instance in which I believe any other installer would have dismissed my request as pickiness and told me there was nothing else they could do. Rose took the time to speak with her foreman and truly assessed the situation to come up with a solution that fit my needs. It took LADWP about 6 weeks to get my meter installed and for my system to be turned on, but it was still well before the end of the year (and yes, I just got my tax refund with that hefty solar tax credit). It's rare to come across someone like Rose who is honest, patient, and who truly has her customer's best interest at heart. Combine that with impeccable execution and communication, and there is no one else I would recommend for a solar install project. When I first contemplated getting solar panels for our house, the entire process looked daunting. I didn't know anything about the technology or equipment and I felt ill prepared to make any decisions about what our house needed. Prepare yourself for a gush of love for this company. I built a shade structure to specifically hold solar panels in my backyard in 2023 (shout out to Canopy Concepts), and then needed to find a solar company to install the panels. I got quotes from so many solar companies, and every single one felt like a scam. All flash, no substance, and I didn't like that no one could give me very straight answers on cost. Everything was geared towards leasing. I almost got looped into going with SunRun, and tricked into signing a 25 year lease, which I backed out of immediately. (Costco, don't let them in your store). Finally, I found One Sun here on Yelp. It was the beacon of solar powered brilliance I was hoping for. (I know I'm gushing, but I seriously went through contractor search turmoil to find them.) OneSun is a Female owned company, with Rose Avakian at the helm. She knows everything there is to know about solar install, and breaks it down so it's easy for novices to understand. There is a lot of technical speak for Solar, so it's easy to lose your way. Rose was so easy to deal with, and made the process go extremely smooth. AND show knows how to work in the valley, and the different jurisdictions needs. Now I had already done my due diligence in building my shade structure, and knew sort of what I wanted on it. With Rose's help, I ended up with Bifacial Hyundai panels, 12 total, with enphase micro inverters on each panel. No battery backup since I live in Burbank, and brown outs are not a regular thing. What power I generate feeds back into the main line, and there is a secondary solar meter on the system that sees how much power I generate, and deducts that from my bill. The solar install was super quick, even though my situation is a unique one, and I wasn't putting them on the roof. I read too many horror stories of solar panels causing a house to need to be re-roofed. I had to wait a few weeks for the plans of exactly what panels I was installing to be drawn up by One Sun, then approved by the city. Maybe took about a month. Once approved, I purchased the panels, and they were installed in almost 1 day. My house is brick, which makes it harder to work on, so they had to come back the next day for a few hours to finish the install. Without me asking, they even went out to color match the exterior paint on my house so they could hide the new chords they had to add. ABOVE AND BEYOND!! What took the longest was getting the meter the city had to install, installed. That was about a 3-4 weeks waiting period, where I didn't know when the city would just show up. This waiting period is totally out of One Sun's control since it's based on when the city can get to it. They came July 3rd, when I luckily was home, and approved the final install, and put in the meter. Even the Burbank BWP workers commented on how great everything looked. If you're seriously looking for a good, reputable solar company, I can't recommend One Sun enough. I waited a month after the solar panels were installed and turned on to make sure everything was working before I posted this review. Very happy with our experience with OneSun. They installed a 6 kW Enphase system on our roof. The entire process -- from initially requesting a quote to our first day of power generation --- was about 6 weeks (some of which was waiting for the city to issue permit and for LADWP to install a bi-directional meter.) We also took care of some roof repairs which added some time. The installation itself took 1 day. Monitoring our solar production and energy consumption through the Enphase app is super cool. Rose is everything you want in a contractor: highly competent, highly transparent, well-organized, and extremely fair. Immediately upon engaging there was a clear difference - none of the slimy vibes or off-putting salesmanship of the competitors, all of the professionalism and knowledgable competence you could hope for. Her quote was the lowest I received out of eight, but was delivered with the highest level of professionalism, useful information, and lack of fuss or back and forth. During the system design phase she was happy to meet me at the level of detail that I preferred and get into the nitty-gritty without brushing me off - but I also suspect she would be great at simply taking care of it all seamlessly if you preferred to stay hands-off. Our solar was installed concurrently to full reroofing with spanish tile. Rose and her team were really great about being flexible with scheduling around the roofing contractor. When it came to install, the work was quick and well done; some inevitable on-site hiccups happened but were sorted out speedily and fairly. When we bought our new home, one of our top priorities was a solar system we owned, not rented. I did my research on panels (cost and efficiency), batteries (LADBS requirements), microconverters, costs, and I read a lot of reviews on local installers (Yelp, Reddit, etc). One name that kept coming up positively was OneSun, so I put that on my short list of companies to contact. I am so very glad I did! Rose was our main point of contact, and she was absolutely fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable on technical aspects, yet able to relate the information in a clear, concise, and understandable manner. Rose responded to our initial inquiry promptly (early Dec. 2024), we had a preliminary call where she briefly walked me through the process, and we set up a meeting for January. Here we are, and as of March 10 we are generating more electricity than we are consuming! I had one other criteria, which was NO TESLA NO MUSK. Rose and her team at OneSun were easily able to craft an Enphase system which met our needs. In each step of the way (site planning, LADWP interfacing, installation, final walk through) the OneSun team were professional, courteous, prompt, communicative, and a joy to deal with. They took care of everything - permits, communications with LADWP, setting up the app, showing us how to troubleshoot in case of any issues (ie internet disruption, etc), actually fixing a glitch (which happened, probably because we changed our modem/router and mesh network), OneSun was fantastic. I also contacted three other solar companies. I'm not going to name them, but here is how OneSun stood out: they listened, and they were responsive. If I start the conversation by saying I have done my research and I want to buy, not rent, DO NOT TRY TO GET ME TO RENT. If I say I do not want Tesla, DO NOT TRY TO PUSH TESLA ON ME. If I don't hear back from you for weeks, I assume this is how you're going to do business, and I'll go elsewhere. We compared one other quote, and OneSun was much much more reasonable. We paid $30k for a 2,552sf system, no batteries because right now, we do not have a wall which will accommodate one. We were quoted $60k by another company, which I felt was something of a ploy to get us to go the rental option (in which case, *they* get the tax credit, *they* "sell" the energy back to LADWP, and *you* still pay a hefty ($400/mos, I believe) electrical bill.... why would I do that? With what we consume (this house is all electric except for the stove, plus I have a plug in vehicle), I figure we'll have made our money back in about 2 years, plus we get the tax credit. And even now, we will have no more bills - today we produced 52.3kwh, but only consumed 23.6. With LADWP, we bank those exported kWhs for a literally rainy day. More shout outs to Eugene, and the great team of installers who got the whole system done in a day and a half. Short story: OneSun offered very competitive pricing, had amazing communication throughout, and followed through on everything promised within about a 3 week window during the holidays. Nothing short of Extraordinary! Longer story: I should start by stating that at the start of December 2022, I had requested quotes from nearly 20 (small, big, local, national) contractors, and OneSun was not my initial choice. However, Rose (owner) reached out asking how she could earn my business and agreed to meet in person. We met, we spoke, and i was impressed enough to take a chance on Rose and her small business. I chose to go with an 8kW system with REC 400W Panels and Enphase IQ8M inverters. OneSun was able to offer a very competitive quote, agreeable contract terms, and a very quick turnaround on the work. Site Survey, Design & Plans, and Permitting were taken care of within about a week, and then we needed to find a window for installation between the holidays and the rain. Installation was completed in the beginning of January 2023 by an extremely competent and friendly crew. The city/county inspection passed without issue and permission to operate taken care of shortly after. Throughout the process, the communication with Rose was genuine, and she felt like an old friend that i could rely on. Wow, there are so many positive things I could share about this experience I'm not sure where to begin. I would give 7 or 8+ stars if I could. Rose is amazing and a legit superstar. I'll try and go into more detail below, but what really stands out -- even above everything else like quality of the project and how beautifully it turned out -- is her character and trustworthiness. Trust is so important, especially for any kind of non-trivial project / investment, and Rose is genuinely a good, honest, reliable person. I started actively looking into solar back in February (after we had our roof resealed) and, thankfully, found out about the (upcoming, at the time) NEM 2.0 deadline approaching in April. Like most people, I think, going into the process I did some research (Yelp, Google, etc.) not only on solar companies but on solar products, pricing, etc. and then reached out to a bunch of providers for info and quotes and also, (for me) just to get a feel for what they are like and what kind of experience it might be to work with them. Even from the initial conversation with Rose, she was cool, and there was a level of comfort and ease that just wasn't there with the other owners or reps of other brands. Rose was so knowledgeable and articulate in her presentation, patient and understanding of any questions and concerns I had. The more companies I talked to, the more clear (and obvious, really) it became that Rose and OneSun would be the best choice. Her project proposal really stood out. It was more competitive in terms of product quality, cost, service, and warranty protection, than all the rest. That combined with her personality, patience, communication, responsiveness and everything else made it an easy decision in the end. At that point, I already felt comfortable and confident with the decision, and yet Rose and OneSun managed to exceed any expectation I might have had. I must have bugged her dozens of times about the same questions, but despite being crazy busy ahead of the NEM 2.0 deadline, she was always understanding and responsive. She never lost her cool, and always delivered as promised. Long story short, I couldn't be happier with how things turned out, and it's all a credit to Rose and her team: We now have a beautifully designed, high-capacity, fully functional system with top-of-the line Tier 1 panels (and inverters) and an awesome 25-year warranty with a company we trust. Eugene, Konstantin, and the crew did a great job. I have so much respect for everybody at OneSun, their professionalism, and the quality work they do. When I heard that the deadline of NEM 2.0 was coming soon, I quickly contacted around 6 solar companies to get quotes. I listened to them all and felt only 2 of them had reasonable quotes for the products they were offering and what I wanted. Not knowing much about solar myself, Rose from OneSun was like a walking dictionary on all questions I had. Everything she explained to me I would look up later and find she was 100% correct on all the information she would give me. For example, I was under the impression that when I replaced the underlayment of my roof for my solar project, I thought the roof upgrade would qualify me for the 30% tax credit. She let me know this was incorrect. Most of the other solar salespeople allowed me to believe that just to make the sale in my opinion. Another quote I had was for panels of lower quality but higher quality micro-inverters than the ones from the OneSun quote I liked (She had 2 as options). I asked Rose why the micro-inverters in her quote were not the top-of-the-line inverters like in the other quote. She explained and showed me how hers were properly matched for the panels in the OneSun quote. She offered to use the other ones for the extra cost but said believes hers were the best match which I agreed to. This shows the correct effort she makes when creating her proposals. Her proposal had most of my panels on the opposite side of the roof the others had. She did a evaluation on my house and determined the shading from a couple of palm trees would make the popular side less efficient. And now I can look at my Solar app and I see the side she put 16 of the 20 panels on, each of these panels produce more power than the ones the side everyone else was using on their designs. The decision on why I decided to go with OneSun is that I needed to get my application in quickly. The other company that I was deciding between would take a couple of days to respond back. Rose was quickly responsive to all my inquiries, so I felt she would have the best chance of getting enrolled into NEM 2.0 in time. And with her moving everything along, I got into NEM 2.0 with no issues at all. I am ever so happy I went with OneSun with my installation and purchase. Never was there an instance where I was not aware of where the project stood. Even though her company was not in the SCE area, she is very aware of all their timelines of the whole approval process. She handled all the phases of the process with awesome communication from the SCE application, SCE approval, equipment delivery, installation, city permitting, and came out to teach me fully how to use the Solar app. Honestly, I cannot think of one thing that ever went wrong in this whole process. I had 2 friends that recently have purchased solar, both have not been happy at all with their experiences. I wish they had talked with me before they agreed to their contracts. If you are looking for solar, I challenge you to find a fairer quote and knowledgeable representative. I am sure you will be very impressed with Rose's knowledge, communication, and timeliness on the whole process. read more
