The verdict- nothing is wrong with our AC. This was a HUGE sigh of relief. What's even better than that? AC Cool didn't invent a problem to solve. They didn't pretend something was wrong to make a sale. They didn't try to upsell us in any way, they even encouraged us to use our warranty if we needed to. Jeffrey reassured us that the sound we were hearing was nothing to be concerned about. As a woman, it's hard to find service workers that won't upsell you purely based on the fact that you might not be as knowledgeable as a man. Great tech but company is price gauging. They want $200 per lb for Freon when they get it for $5/lb. That's a 3,900% markup! Yes you read that right! Feel free to google it yourself. Refrigerant - R410A The honest tech told me Google prices are more than what the techs themselves get it for. And then they want to charge you over priced labor on top of that. Quoted me $2500 for AC repair. A honest company came out and did the same thing they quoted for $600. I guess when they find out you live in south Orange County they think they should take advantage of you. read more

After 15 years with AC Cool, I had to find a new HVAC company due to poor customer service. I scheduled preventative maintenance 10 days in advance as I took the day off to have different vendors all come in on the same day for maintenance on different appliances. My appointment was scheduled for 8/14/25. That day I received a "tech on the way" text at 9:22 AM. At 10:17 AM, I was told the technician refused service because of my dog--who was locked in a fenced run on the opposite side of the house, nowhere near the work area, nor visible to the street. My cameras even showed the tech never stopped at my home, but perhaps he drove by? When I asked for another technician, I was told no and offered only to reschedule for next week. In the past Kate & Paul would have gone above and beyond to make it right. Instead, I was told; "that's just the way it is." That's fine, in this economic atmosphere, I am quick to understand when a business doesn't need me as a customer. I called another company that came the same day, charged less, and provided better service. After years of loyalty, it's disappointing to see such a decline. Was referred to AC Cool through our inspector when we were purchasing our new home. Katie worked with us to get a ball park number in order to request credits to replace our system since it was entirely non-functional upon close of the new house. As soon as we had keys, Paul came over to give us a quote. We had a nearly 40 year old system int he middle of the house and wanted it moved into the attic. We also wanted a slim, quiet, and solar-future-proofed system. Paul quoted us a dual fuel (Gas, Heat-pump) system and a relocation of the systems into the attic. Made it seem like a breeze. We had 2 other company's quote, and both tried to dissuade from dual-fuel (contrary to all online research we did personally), and commented how difficult moving the system into the attic would be in our 60 year old home. AC cool came out the lowest priced, even with the mid-tier option that we chose. From the day the team showed up you could tell they enjoy their jobs, everyone had smiles on the whole time and they brought an army of installers to get our system completely installed in under 3 days. They took every precaution to protect the house, even going as far as cleaning up an oil drip in the driveway from one of their trucks. When Carrier's documentation got the instructions for wiring our dual-fuel system to our thermostat wrong, Paul was able to contact Carrier to resolve it for us so quickly. NO we are moved in and enjoying our system that we struggle to even tell if it's running because it's so quiet. AC Cool treated us like family and I know that I can rely on them to help me maintain our new system for years to come. Also, I have to throw out there, that even when one of the technicians (he shall remain nameless) tripped and fell through the ceiling above our coat closet, Paul quickly called his drywall contact, and Jose and the team quickly took care of the issue. The air temperature when it was running ran was different degrees from one end of the house to the other. I had called AC Cool to fix problems and to service a few times. I was always pleased with the service and technicians. So when I decided to make the leap into new equipment I called them first. Our AC in our casita stopped working and in the height of these hot summer days, Paul found the time to come and diagnose our problem and he then scheduled us into their busy schedule to come and fix the AC problem today. I am happy to post our complete conversation on here if it helps. Just let me know. My system was not installed by a friend, and I never mentioned anything that would indicate that it was. The system was installed by an HVAC contractor that is further away from our area and was, at the time, unable to make it to install the controlling thermostat. Nothing else needed to be installed or connected. The system was complete, except for the thermostat. It seemed prudent to reach out to a local company that is the service wing of Carrier. The company Carrier does not handle customer support directly and relies on its network of authorized installers for that, which is why I reached out to you. The model number for the furnace that I shared with you and provided a direct link to is 59MN7B060C17--14 https://www.carrierenterprise.com/carrier-infinity-97-afue-60000-btuh-modulating-4-way-multipoise-ecm-gas-furnace-59mn7b060c17-14 My entire system was installed on 10/23/2019 and qualified for SCAQMD low NOX standards at that time, even though it has little to do with what I inquired to your company about: installing a thermostat and NIM controller. I also provided to you the information based on my consultation with a Carrier expert of 30+ years that a NIM controller would be needed for my system in addition to the controlling thermostat because the AC condenser was a non-controlling 2-stage, and you mistakenly replied telling me that a NIM controller was not needed and that it's good to not listen to "buzz on the internet." Hoping you were correct, which would have saved me a lot of money, I asked that you provide me information on why a NIM controller would not be needed, and pointed you to Carrier technician training videos stating otherwise. Rather than simply saying, "oh, I guess I was mistaken. We'll need to learn more about that, and will get back to you on an estimate and date when we can come check out your system," you responded saying that you were not interested in working on my system, listing: 1. The combination of equipment (Infinity furnace and Performance condenser) are not a combination you would recommend (they work perfectly well together and are compatible). 2. That my furnace might not be compliant with SCAQMD (it certainly is based on the installation date, but even if it were not, it is a red herring to the service I contacted you about: installing a controlling thermostat. You ended with telling me, "You might consult the Carrier website to find another local factory dealer who can guide you to the best options and get your system up and running but we never do start up on equipment we don't install and the boss man is not comfortable with completing it for all of those reasons." You clearly recognized by that reply that the Carrier customer needs to consult the Carrier website to find a local factory dealer. But when you, as my local factory dealer, arbitrarily choose not to do the work because maybe there are less complicated, higher paying jobs for you, it leaves me as the Carrier customer high and dry trying to figure things out on my own. Hopefully that makes sense and you can see it from the customer perspective. We realized that our heater hadn't been inspected in a couple of years, so made an appointment. Jeff came out and discovered a potential problem, he turned the gas supply off and said it was time to replace our 33 year old heater. We received their proposal and agreed it was time. Katie called and we worked out an installation time that was dependent on availability of the replacement. It was a delay, but they kept us apprised of the progress. Our AC condenser suddenly went out on a Friday, of course during a hot stretch of days. I called a few places that couldn't come out for several days, but a highly rated company was able to come out that evening. After a long assessment they told me I needed to replace everything as there were several problems, and it would be $8000 (this is a 7 year old unit). After a good cry and a chat with my father-in-law, I called AC Cool at his recommendation. They were able to come out Monday, and upon inspection rats ran out of the unit. They had chewed up the wiring. We were also a little low on refrigerant. They did the repairs right away. Total cost: under 500!! I will use and recommend AC Cool forever to everyone! Had my AC replaced by this company 6 yrs ago. Lost cooling over the very hot weekend & since i hsd a 10yr parts 5yr labor warranty called them to service my unit. Bill, service tech, arrived on time. Checked the unit & told me i needed dual run cap ($13 @ Amazon) & cost would be $389. Showed my paperwork for parts warranty of 10yr & he said my cost would by $199. So they charge $190 for the $13 part....or just pick numbers from the air!! $199 for a service call is outrageous. read more

AC Cool did not stand behind their work. They missed a Freon leak which required me to fill it twice and cost an additional $1000. I asked them to come back, and if they found a leak, I would be happy to pay for the repair but hoped they would work with me on the Freon re-charge since they missed it initially. We got a full new HVAC system from AC Cool 3yrs ago. Paul was great to work with and did a nice job. It's been a worry free 3yrs....until our system stopped pushing cool air yesterday afternoon on Labor Day weekend!!! It was the hottest day of the year in a record breaking heatwave. It was 87 indoors. Needless to say it was a miserable sleepless night for my entire family. We called Paul in the morning and despite his full schedule, he promised to try and squeeze us in the same day. Paul was at my house by early afternoon and brought the part along with to fix the issue. His calculated guess and experience was spot on!! UPDATE: yes this is the right company I am posting a review on, AC Cool in Orange County. I made this account when I was in LA but just didn't update my address. Bad business practices. Promised permit would come in the mail and it never did. Also had inspection from one of their guys and later, after the rainy season, there were water stains in two rooms and eventually a large crack in the ceiling in one. Got someone else to look and they said it was weird that it was left like that so the water could come straight through. Very disappointed. Will have to get the ceiling fixed. read more

My AC evaporator unit was leaking so I contacted 4 companies on Yelp for help. This was on a Sunday when everyone was closed, but Paul with AC Cool was the first to contact me and actually schedule an appointment for the next day. His technician Carlos showed up on time (even a little early which was awesome) and quickly diagnosed the problem (clogged pvc drain lines). I cannot say enough good things about Carlos. These guys win. My compressor went out on a hot day in September. I had no less than eight companies come out and give quotes. I had a lot of passable companies; some incompetent ones; and a few awful ones. I put those companies through every test I could think of: technical ability, responsiveness, promptness and service-mindedness. Ultimately, I went with John Moses and his team at AC Cool. They showed up on time, they were smart, and they completed the project on budget. The installation was clean, smart and the installers were nice people; John was very patient in explaining my options and in coming up with a good installation plan. That would have been enough for a four-star review. The five-star kicker, though, is as follows: When AC Cool found that they overcharged me by $79, they amended their invoice and sent me a check of their own accord. AC Cool gets 6 Stars but Yelp limits me to 5 and I am certain they have plenty of qualified installers but one stands out for me - Rob Timberman. He came on site and assessed my existing HVAC system from the existing equipment installed to the ducting in the garage and attic. He asked me what issues we had and I told him the biggest issue was our Master Bedroom was darn COLD in the winter and darn HOT in late summer. The master is the furthest room from the furnace and on the east side of our house (no sun in late PM) and on the second story. Rob suggested a very efficient 17 seer, 4 ton, Carrier solution with his air flow balancing strategy and it worked. The two other HVAC contractors proposed higher capacity solutions and relocation from my existing garage location to my attic. Rob literally saved me $1,000's of dollars and I have a great result. The owner Paul came onsite for our installation and personally installed the new Ecobee smart thermostat with Alexa integration and mobile phone app to control the system remotely if needed. Paul was very conscientious about informing me of the Carrier, SQAMD and So Cal Gas rebates and how to apply which netted me a credit over $1,000. Do yourself a favor and ask AC Cool out for an onsite visit to assess your heating and AC needs. read more

After calling several companies, I received a call back from the office of AC cool, within an hour of leaving a message. The woman I spoke with was helpful and good natured, with an excellent sense of humor. Despite being incredibly busy, she was able to get me an appointment that day; this was related to my location. I appreciate that she was helpful and worked with me, despite being booked. The fact that I could be squeezed in indicated to me, that the company values their clients time, thus doesn't overbook their technicians. We had a known freon leak that our regular AC HVAC company could not figure out and they told us to call them back when the weather was cooler to do an Isolation test. We called another trusted company who used a sealant and said that will sometimes do the trick but it did not. So we searched high and low for a company that had success with finding freon leaks efficiently. I liked their detailed web site information about successfully detecting leaks. AC Cool was excellent from the first interaction with the front office to the appointment with the technician. Bill was extremely knowledgeable and found the problem in less than five minutes! (Could hardly believe the two other companies could not diagnose the problem that was in plain view had they just looked around a bit more!) This review should have been written a year ago. In June of 2019 my air-conditioning was blowing hot air. Several companies looked at my system and said I needed a new one with the cost of 8000$ more or less. I contacted AC cool and their technician I believe his name was Jeff showed up and he took one look and he goes I am 99% sure the problem is and he did a A test and it says you don't need to replace your system and all you need is a new coil and he even told me the story of the coil problem that was furnished by carrier air-conditioning. He replace the coil for under $2500 and my air-conditioning has been working fabulously for two summers now. I strongly recommend using this company! read more
