The technician was friendly and arrived quickly, which I appreciated. However, I was disappointed that no formal written estimate was ever provided, even after the visit. What really gave me pause was the suggestion that we could fix the problem ourselves by buying PEX piping and drilling through our stucco to reroute the condensation leak. That didn't inspire much confidence. The quoted price also kept shifting--from $100 to $150 to $175 --without a clear explanation. Because of the uncertainty and lack of clarity, we decided to get a second and third opinion. Ultimately, we went with a different company that was more transparent and professional in their approach. We ended up needing a Reconstruction of the drainage system using a condensate pump. These guys saved me $800 and didn't even know it (well, they will if they read this). They deserve recognition for honest, no-nonsense work. I called them out of frustration with another company I'd used for past jobs. That company diagnosed my gas furnace issue (annoying whistling noise) and quoted $800 for a valve replacement. When I asked "What happens if you're wrong?" they didn't respond for days. When they finally did, the tech just said he was 99% sure it was the valve--which still didn't answer my question. Frustrated, I went back to Yelp looking for a second opinion. I found South County Air Services, messaged them through their website, and got a quick callback. They scheduled me for the next day. Note: I didn't share with South County anything about this other company, what they found or what they proposed. Anyway, the tech showed up, was super courteous, put on booties to protect my carpet, and diagnosed the same issue. I looked up air-conditioning companies on yelp and I was so glad to found South County Air Services! They were very polite on the phone and Henry came out to see the possible problems with my heater! He was wonderful! I will definitely use them again because of the professionalism he showed! He informed me of the number of things that a heater might need if at all... He was very thoughtful in saying that he did not want to charge me for anything that I did not need and he will figure it out! He was very methodical about his problem-solving... He went up in the attic to see the heating unit... he opened up the unit and looked at every part... He took his time and was really concerned about getting the heater working! He ended up replacing the filter and unbelievably it worked! I just changed that filter probably about eight months ago... But he informed me that with pets sometimes that filter can get dirtier and need to be replaced sooner... He didn't try to sell me anything more... He gave me suggestions for maintaining my system... My air-conditioning unit as well... I will definitely call him in May to come out and do a service or check on my air-conditioning system! They are truly wonderful! I will use them again and I've already put their number in my contacts (with Henry's name to request him again). I have a list of wonderful people who do various things... I have an electrician...
