We've been using Econo Air for several years now. We had a new HVAC system installed 4 years ago and are on their maintenance plan. It's a family-run business and owner Mike is an engineer -- he's extremely knowledgeable and was able to solve long-standing issues we had for years with the previous company and system (rooms that never seemed to heat or cool; incorrectly sized unit and returns; etc etc). In fact, our old system was such a tangled mess and hard for maintenance techs to get at: Econo Air installed the new system in a sensible way that makes it easy for their techs to reach and work on if necessary. The system performance is amazing now: it's one of those things where we had to kick ourselves for not getting the problems solved years ago. All in all very pleased with their service and fully trust their judgment. Our 30 year old blown-in attic insulation had become less effective with age, so we had them remove it, sanitize the attic and blow in fresh insulation. We discovered a minor issue after the work was done but they came right back out the next day and made it right. They are also up to date on various tax rebate incentives and provide the necessary certificates to make it easy for you to get your rebate at tax time. We see that there are some negative reviews here, but that hasn't been our experience: all in all our highest recommendation. read more

Our AC stopped working, so we contacted Econo Air to come out and diagnose the issue. After inspecting the unit, they informed us that the Lennox control board on the AC side was broken and that they only use their proprietary controller, which would cost $7,000 installed. It took over a week to receive this diagnosis, and we had to follow up multiple times to get an answer. During the technician's visit, he called his manager/senior technician while on speakerphone, as he was unsure of the issue. The manager, seemingly unaware he was on speaker, stated that he could not say for certain, but due to the lack of power on the AC side of the board, it most likely needed a new board. The junior technician advised that a manager and warranty technician would follow up the next day, but we never received a response. We decided to contact another company for a second opinion. Their technician quickly identified the issue as a tripped low voltage breaker at the furnace. He reset the breaker, found no other faults, and resolved the issue in less than 10 minutes. We were only charged a standard service call fee. We originally purchased this unit from Costco and chose Econo Air as they are their contracted service provider, trusting that Costco had properly vetted them. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing and concerning. We hope management takes note of this and makes the necessary changes, as this level of service and transparency is unacceptable. read more

Update: It has been over 10 days since Econo Air commented here saying they would reach out to make it right. The fact is they DID NOTHING. No yelp message. No call. Just faking it. ~~~Original Comment ~~~ We gave them a $20k project only to get scammed and screwed. Long story short: They replaced a furnace and recommended adding zoning. They also did the maintenance of the A/Cs. 6 months later, both A/C units broke together. Since both of my A/C units are old, we decided to replace them. We called 4 other companies for quotes. They all told us the zoning this company did was completely unnecessary, and they did it WRONG on purpose. Scam#1, For a house that already have 2 system, you do not need zoning. I have one for first floor and one for second floor. $20K down the drain. Scam#2, They took out the factory control boards of the new Lennox Furnace and Motor. With those two Econo Air boards put in, no other contractor can work on my systems. We ended up having to replace them. $4800 loss. Scam#3: Their own branded zoning control panel does not have the capacity to go from 0% -100% power, which means even though zoning was added, if we only turn on 1 zone of many, our entire system will still go 100% power. Not only does it save us $0 on electronic bills as they promised, but it also created too much pressure within the system with many dampers closed at the turned-off zones. That pressure could have caused the leak in both A/C systems so they went down together. The zoning system needs an "Exit" for the extra pressure. They did not do it! Scam#4. The brand new coil they put in 6 months ago only works with the Refrigerant California is ruling out. All the new California state-approved A/C units will not work with the coil I paid for just 6 months ago. We spent 10 days in a hot house before the Econo Air mess was cleaned up completely. Do not be fooled by Costco's reputation. I hired them because I trusted Costco. BIG mistake. Costco takes a big share from the projects. That only makes Econo Air price much higher. read more

Requested a quote for central AC. The initial visit for quote was satisfactory. The next day received two texts from different employees informing me of directions as if I'd accepted bid. Incredibly arrogant! It was unwelcome and the correspondence was unprofessional with an excuse of Covid. They were very good at communicating from the beginning. They confirmed when and who the technician would be prior to coming for the appointment. They did an inspection and gave me a quote for repair and/or replacement. Our condenser is old and they were willing and able to repair it. They were honest about it that the repair might not last. Surprisingly they said the money spent for the repair if it did fail, they would apply it to the cost of replacing. Since the repair they have called twice to check in on me. This company could have killed me and my family due to their lack of due diligence. Simply put, two years ago we had a furnace replaced. We've had technicians over every 4-6 months because of unrelated issues, but NO ONE tested for a carbon monoxide leak before, during, or after the installation. Turns out that we had a leak in the 180+ parts per million in our downstairs and 200+ in our attic. They sent a team to replace the pipes and guess what they didn't bring, a carbon monoxide detector! At this point I can't recommend them due to this level of gross negligence. The more that I think on this, the more frustrated I get. Update: I called to request a carbon monoxide test to verify that the flue replacement fixed the problem and they accommodated me free of charge. The technician showed up within 24 hours and his test turned up positive for 180+ parts per million again from the furnace itself, which was then deemed defective. They replaced the entire furnace under warranty for us within a week and sent a technician over to verify that there were no more leaks upon my request. This rating would be significantly higher if econo air changed a very simple policy that could save lives. Just check for carbon monoxide leaks before and after an installation. The detector is literally $50-140 on Amazon and it takes 5 minutes to test for a leak. The least that I expect from an expensive (or any) installation is a guarantee that I won't come home from a business trip to find myself widowed because of a lazy business practice due to a lack of government mandated safety requirements. read more

We worked with EconoAir a year ago for a new HVAC-system and solar panels. For the most part, things were going well... until this week. Our HVAC-system stopped cooling--it was only blowing room-temperature air. We had a technician come in to see what the problem was. Turns out the refrigerant leaked. They quoted us under $2000 for labor and service. Expensive but there was a heatwave and we needed cooling ASAP, so we scheduled a repair. EconoAir said they had to order the parts for the repair as they didn't have them on hand. So unfortunately, my family and dog did endure one week of unbearable and humid heat (even with fans). Today is the day of the appointment. And during the time they were supposed to come, we receive a call saying they have to reschedule. The parts they received for the repair didn't match, so they have to re-order the parts and reschedule the appointment. Conveniently, there's going to be another heatwave next week. :( I have my doubts on EconoAir now because... 1) How is a unit that is barely a year old leaking the refrigerant already? This implies the contractors who were hired for the job were careless and lacked attention-to-detail during the installation process. 2) Were the parts actually ordered? Was an order placed for the wrong parts? Why weren't the parts available already? Was this a genuine mistake? Regardless, it felt unprofessional that our appointment was cancelled on the day of. 3) Throughout this entire process, every person we spoke with, from scheduling to service check, has been met with zero empathy and a whole lot of nonchalance. I understand that our refrigerant repair is probably a pennies project compared to an HVAC-installation project. But given the investment we made with them a year ago, I'd expect better customer service. Because it feels like EconoAir doesn't value our patronage, our family may have to look for other options. Want to blow $20,000+ on an installer that is careless enough that it will damage the HVAC and destroy itself in a few years? Go with EconoAir. EconoAir came in and installed a 4-ton air handler with a 5-ton condenser, which is incredibly unsafe. Google it if you want to know more. After installation, the system suffered catastrophic equipment damage. Independent review indicates the failure is consistent with improper sizing/matching (airflow mismatch, refrigerant issues). At no point was I informed of, or asked to consent to, a non-standard configuration. Key facts: - Mismatched tonnage (4-ton air handler / 5-ton condenser) - No documentation provided showing manufacturer or AHRI approval - Damage occurred after installation - Company has not taken responsibility or provided a satisfactory remedy This installation falls below basic industry standards. This has been expensive, stressful, and completely avoidable. If you're considering this company, know that they did not follow best practices or disclose deviations with me. Or, make your life easier and go with Triton or White Mechanical, both HVAC companies I've worked with that have much better service, knowledge, and guarantees on their quality. You can look them up on Yelp and see they have far more satisfied customers, or just go with another company with far better ratings than this company. But again, if you want to play Russian roulette with your HVAC installation and are comfortable knowing you may be sitting on a time bomb, go with EconoAir. read more

One gave me quality just not a heat pump quote. 3rd showed a Lennox then proposed another brand, prices better. However Blake suggested I only needed a heat pump and we will make sure we get the furnace and ducts up to code. Listening properly and suggested some improvements I knew we prop my needed was quality upgrades I was looking for to replace my 21'year Old York air conditioner. read more

The Econo Air guys just left after their Simi annual checkup. The technicians are always respectful, friendly and thorough. We've worked with them for years and they have been very helpful with our 3 zone system, making sure we had the right amount of returns (we didn't) and added an additional attic access. Once we joined their service program, they reach out to set up appointments twice a year for checkup & filter replacement. We appreciate all that they do for us, their conscientious techs that have great attitudes and are a pleasure to work with. read more

I was quoted $900 for a minor electrical rebuild kit and compressor saver kit over the phone. This was a band aid fix. Tell me how a minor electrical build is $1995. Since the quotes are over personal phone there is no record of the quote. The recommended option was also quoted at $4000 over the phone and in the description of work on the invoice it showed $4995. Never doing business with them again. All the numbers were wrong. In the last 2 years I've had to pay for a condensation pump $1295 and also a leak repair $2,000. Supposedly, I have to replace a drip pan because it's rusted for about another $1000. In my other 2 units I have never had these kind of issues with the AC. The AC units are much older too. To get another AC unit they estimate a cost of $13K. read more

Ok, 8 years after being ripped off by being forced to have my entire compressor unit replaced, it's gone bad. My new AC guy found they had wrapped my actual compressor with rubber insulation to try to quiet it down, since that was my original problem. This insulation overheated my unit and caused it to fail. $7500 later I'm back up, no thanks to Econoair. Do not use this company. Dishonest and corrupt service. Bad business model and I have discourage many people to not use them. read more

**Beware of Econo Air - Poor Support After Installation** I had a brand-new HVAC system installed by Econo Air through Costco. Spent thousands of dollars for this install. The entire system was new--no previous ductwork or vents--and I even signed up for their paid maintenance plan. Four years later, my A/C stopped cooling. Despite the maintenance and new install, they wanted to charge $99 just to inspect it. After pushing back, they waived that fee, but then quoted $400 just to find the refrigerant leak--not to fix it. Any actual repairs after locating the leak would be an additional cost. I contacted Lennox, who said a leak at 4 years old is unusual unless due to poor installation or maintenance--both handled by Econo Air. They also mentions harsh weather but I live in Orange County and we don't have harsh weather here. They refused to take responsibility unless I paid more. Initially found out about Econo Air from Costco and wanted to give them a chance. I had already contacted Home Comfort USA thru Home Depot but wasn't statisfied with the overall quote and the work order. Mike (Owner) from Econo Air came to my house in Placentia and thoroughly checked the furnace, AC and the Ducts. He was very honest about the work that had to be done and never pushed/compelled me to make a purchase. After the initial estimate and his recommendation, I agreed for the work to begin. Everything took 2 days. First day the abatement company came and cleaned out the asbestos. Second day Fernando from Econo Air and his team showed up. They replaced the AC, Installed new duct and rewired the furnace and brought everything up to 2025 safety standard. Great Technicians. Professional, Curteous and extremely skilled. I am sharing my recent unfortunate experience with Econo Air over the past 2 months. On Friday March 3 2023, after 4 follow ups in between I was very surprised that I was informed that my compressor was on the verge of going out. My my diagnostic was on 12.16.22 and I was not made aware that my compressor was going out after putting in $$$ in my unit. I was not given all the information regarding my unit and was not able to make an informed decision was quite upsetting. When I asked the technician, what was the reading for the compressor back in December, I was told there was no reading taken at that time, which lead me to move forward with the recommendations that were $$$ costly. I am having a hard time accepting the fact why this information was not shared with me on 12.16.22 and now to fix the compressor on a heat pump, defrost board, new contacting relay, and control box, with an additional cost $7495 or a new unit at $14,000. I am unclear what information should had been provided at my diagnostic. When I brought this up, I was provided 1 option that I need to decide by 3.15.23 for the company to make it right, which I would be given a credit towards a full replacement, which I am struggling because it puts me a position to have to stay with Econo Air, which after this incident and not having heat on two separate occasions in the last several months due to tech errors and a link from one of the new parts installed, I feel like I am being extorted. Also, what really struct a nerve is when the last technician made a snarky comment regarding a choice regarding my older unit, which I felt uncalled for, which is why I am sharing my experience and also filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau. read more
