I have been shopping here for several years. I have also recommended this location to those looking for used packing material at a decent price. This has had some of the best prices I have run across, but some individual items are less at a couple other stores so look closely. The staff has always been friendly to me and helpful. A note, the price placard may have been moved by someone or apply to the item above and below. Just ask for a confirmation before taking it down. If it is on a top shelf they will take it down for you. Another note; you can go to their website and order from the north Austin location if it is not in stock and they will move it to the south for free. Everybody should know if this place! We have a very large TV that we wanted to protect in our move. Gentleman working there went the extra mile and helping match a mattress box to our TV. The LG OLED that is paper thin did just fine in our move - thank you for your time! In general, this store has everything when it comes to packing supplies. On recent occasion, I have found myself needing large and odd sized boxes, and coming up empty at the traditional stores. I went into UPS today in that same situation, and they referred me to EcoBox. Best thing-I-didn't-know-I-needed discovery of 2019 so far. I needed a box to fit something that was 5 and a half feet long and thin. UPS charged $20 for something that wasn't quite long enough. EcoBox had the perfect box and it was only $8. Bonus-- they will ship things with UPS and USPS from their store, too. They also buy used boxes! read more

On a day with the highest number of reported cases of COVID-19 in Austin to date, I entered the store to find none of the employees wearing masks. When I commented and requested that they wear a mask, they ignored me. I bought my packing materials and left the store without any further comment, but I sent an email to the store manager to express my disappointment at the rude treatment and requested that they follow the mask mandate. I received a very thoughtful response from the store manager who indicated he would talk to the employees and make changes. He even thanked me for my email. Later that day, I received the following email from the general manager of the store. He need not worry. I will never return to this store. I'm not sure what he was hoping to accomplish with this email. It does not appear that he has much concern for the customer's welfare. "I take it [COVID-19] very seriously but I can't take back the employees' past actions and have told them to mask up. Just so you are aware I am a person that is highly at risk from Covid 19 due to my autoimmune disease called Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy.... As a result of my situation I don't rely on laws or others to mask up but rather I keep myself out of situations that pose a risk. Your threats to report us on social media are highly inappropriate, and you would only be hurting our employees, the majority of which are minorities. I hope that isn't what you are trying to achieve. Based on your threats I am going to have to ask you not to come back to any of our stores." read more

While the people at the store were nice, when I had some issues I was forced to deal with the corporate office. I found the office and operations manager not to be helpful at all. He did not appear to be interested in resolving my problem and basically told me to go elsewhere. Don't recommend this company. read more

A box is a box. As long as it's clean & sturdy who cares if it's brand new. New boxes are crazy expensive. And if you need a lot of them for your move like I do, the cost really adds up. That's why I love this place. Good quality used boxes. So what if the box has writing on it that says "Suzie's bedroom". I've got a bigger Sharpie! And when you're done with your move, you can sell your boxes back to them. Saves them from the landfill or recycle centre. read more

Ecobox, how do I love thee? I've had about 30 boxes sitting in my garage for about two weeks since I moved. With no idea what to do with them and refusing to throw them in a random dumpster, where they would surely become just another 20-50 year decomposition story, I waited for an environmentally responsible way to deal with my challenge. They are located within 500 feet of some of the best discount shopping in Austin and this is how I found them. Don't deliver your used boxes in the rain. Thank goodness I called ahead during a rare Austin Summer thunderstorm to announce I was coming. Jacob, the resident Ecobox cutie-pie and my new yelp.com crush, was super nice and just recommended that I come when it's not so wet outside because as we have all experienced at some point, wet boxes don't hold $%!& (not his words, those are all mine). When I arrived the next day, he was again, very helpful, directed me to drive to the back of the store to unload my boxes and I was done in about 5 minutes. I elected to donate my boxes, but they will buy your boxes off you, if you need the cash. They also have packing supplies and new boxes if you're not into the used stuff. This place is great. They offer new and used boxes, it's organized, and a lot more convenient than driving around to liquor stores who are either out of boxes, or limiting the amount you can take - since they re-use them all with the new bag ban (which is a good thing...), for example. There's also no minimum on the amount of boxes you have to buy, and you can mix and match as you please. Makes moving just a tad less painful. read more

I found EcoBox on Google after getting a quote for packing supplies from my moving company. The supplies I got at EcoBox were 30-50% cheaper than getting them from my mover. I picked up my order from the Brodie store in Austin. After loading up my truck with the supplies, I headed home. A short time later I got a call from the clerk at the Brodie store to inform me I hadn't taken one of my items. I drove back to pick it up, and the clerk offered me some extra boxes for the "inconvenience" (for the record, the mistake was mine, not theirs). OUTSTANDING customer service. Just a heads up - do not buy their Poly Tape or Tape gun- horrendous tape and gun - will drive you batty!!! Tape constantly gets stuck - won't stick to box's - cheap and bad in every way!! My boxes showed up a week after the scheduled delivery as well read more

First of all DO NOT BUY THEIR PACKING TAPE!!!! In this last move I wasted at least 20% of the roll and what added up to many hours having to deal with snarled, tape which, once it sticks to itself on the roll (which it does constantly since it's so flimsy it won't stay on the tape rack), takes about ten minutes to get another start. Secondly, I bought used wardrobe boxes from them for $8 (including the necessary bar) each. When I took them back to sell.....still in great, great condition.....they paid me less than $1 each...including the bars. I mean, I wasn't expecting much...but less than $1?!!! When I asked if they would let me unload at their back door since I was pulling a trailer and couldn't park normally, they told me no since it was only for their own unloading. Evidently, from another reviewer, if you get the guy manager and you're young and cute, it's a different story. And, yes, they were sitting around with nothing to do and barely bothered to speak to me.... read more

I called to see if they could stay open just a few minutes longer since they are closed tomorrow for Easter, but Chris told me no, they like to 'blow' out of there exactly at 5pm. What really sets them apart is Jacob - his customer service is really amazing. He remembers my name, helps me load the car, and knows his inventory. I have to take a moment to mention the exceptional level of service and help I just received at a EcoBox today. The two gentlemen that worked there this afternoon, Jesse and Chris, helped me put together a custom box to ship a very large painting. A local shipping store had quoted $225 to make the custom box. Jesse and Chris were able to figure out what boxes I needed as well as what packaging supplies would help for under $40 total. My first visit to EcoBox was about a month ago; I required supplies for an upcoming move at the time. My customer experience could not have been any better. Jacob and the crew greeted me with earnest, educated me to the best products to suit my packing needs, and even packed the materials in my vehicle for me. Yesterday, I visited this location again, but for the purpose of selling boxes. Once again, I was met with commendable customer service. Jacob, although in the middle of handling a delivery in the rear loading dock, served me right away. I stopped in to mail an ipod back to a friend in California. I got the perfect size box for 50 cents and shipped it regular mail and it cost about 1 dollar. I almost went to UPS and it would have cost me about 8 dollars. Great customer service and I saved money. You can't beat that!!!! read more

I get all of my shipping boxes for my small business at this Eco Box location and the staff is always incredibly helpful and kind. Eduardo's customer service today blew me away, though. When they didn't have the box I needed in stock, he graciously cut another box to size for me. Once I got back to my car and packed the box, I realized I told him the wrong dimensions for the height and my contents wouldn't fit in the box. After hesitating to go back in because I felt dumb and thought they would be annoyed by me, I decided to go back into the store and I'm so glad I did. He happily helped me again, got me a new box, measured my contents to make D@MN sure we got the size right this time, cut the box to size again, and even helped me pack and tape it up - and all with a smile and positive attitude. Oh and it doesn't stop there!! He helped me carry everything back to my car too. Also side note - I just learned today that they provide packing and shipping services to save you a trip to UPS or the post office. You just bring whatever you're shipping to Eco Box, they help pack it and tape it up for you, print your label, and hand it off to the courier who picks up from there every day. I have to say I have never been to a store with worse customer service than this one. After buying over 9 large boxes and asking specifically if they would fit into car, and being assured that they would, they then just stood and watched as I loaded all the boxes (with much wrestling) into my car never once offering to help. When I pointed out a little help would have been nice I was told they could not leave the store. Mind you they somehow managed to help the lady behind me after I was done. Not so "Green"!! I showed up with 30 plus cardboard moving boxes used only once. The boxes were in great shape. They refused to take boxes after 4PM, despite closing at 6pm. I even offered to give the boxes for free. They couldn't even tell me where the nearest recycling center was. LAME!! When I walked in, 3 workers were sitting around doing nothing. You can't take 10 min to unload FREE boxes? Boxes you claim to recycle and sell to others? Instead, you made me burn gas driving all over town.
