I was very disappointed in my experience here. I had been very excited to try a new Harford County Mexican restaurant and at first, was impressed. The place is beautiful and clean, we were seated right away and the chips and salsa and cheese dip were amazing. BUT, it was all downhill from there. For my entree, I had the mixed fajitas. While the dish was beautifully presented, it does not compare to the same dish at La Tolteca or Plaza Mexico. The meat was not grilled, it seemed to be almost stewed. The beef tasted more like roast beef than traditional fajita. Despite that disappointment, we decided to try the fried ice cream for dessert. What a mistake. Prepared in the "traditional" (?) way, it was coated in corn flakes. The corn flakes were incredibly chewy and stale. When we mentioned it to our server, he merely said that was normal, that when corn flakes are frozen they become stale. HUH?? Oh well, I will keep going back to my old standby- La Tolteca. read more

Initially favorably impressed with spacious seating, cleanliness, and nice decor. Unfortunately everything downhill from there. The flat Dr Pepper I could overlook--the machine was broken, it happens. The salsa was flavorful though not spicy enough for my husband. However, the chips were stale. Then the waiter apparently did not hear or misunderstood my order....my husband was finishing his by the time the correct food arrived for me. Food was ok but not exciting. So happy to have an authentic mexican restaurant in FH. We went yesterday for dinner and absolutely loved the food. The atmosphere is nice and I would consider it semi upscale compared to other mexican restaurants in the Bel Air area. We had the spicy chile rojo, chicken burrito j frezco and the kids chicken enchilada meal. The portions were huge and reasonably priced. I would have rated this place a 5 star but the liquor license is pending and our waiter was very quiet when he spoke and seemed inexperienced. We came for the food though and it did not disappoint. We will definitely be back. Would love to see outdoor seating for spring and summer months. read more

My table ordered the Camarones Alfonz, delicious marinated shrimp in their queso dip, and omg it was amazing! My friends and I each got different dishes and were all thoroughly impressed. This is our new favorite restaurant! It is authentic, casual but very nice inside. The service is outstanding and the food is top notch. As an appetizer we had shrimp covered in their echo dip. It was so good I could have eaten that at my meal. For the main dish I had the steak and chorizo and my husband had the chicken and chorizo. So we've come back time & again & just an update that they now have their liquor license for beer & wine. We've jumped around the menu to try new things and my favorite dish of the day is the frezco burrito filled with beef, chorizo & rice and topped with that luscious savory echo dip (cheesy sauce). I will order anything with echo dip on it! The chef knows the menu well and every dish coming out of the kitchen is well done!! You get 2 free baskets of warm toasty tortilla chips with salsa. The 3rd basket is $2. Needless to say we've experienced the 3rd basket charge but it was well worth it while we enjoyed Mexican beer & sangria with it until the dinner entrees came. I like good timing with meal service and it is impeccable as the servers are attentive & responsive. More established restaurants in the area can learn about hospitality and excellent service at Echo Frezco.......it makes the meal enjoyable & memorable as a true experience.......and not just stuffing our bellies to stave off hunger pangs. read more

Popped in for lunch based on reviews and a desire or great food. Was not disappointed. Frijoles were excellent. Had lunch special of 2 grilled to perfection chicken breasts that were nicely seasoned. Just had lunch there and was unimpressed. Five people (3 kids) and the bill was over $80 with no alcohol. Lunch prices appear reasonable at first but has to pay extra for condiments. Shredded Cheese - $1.50 ... sour cream - $1.00. To top it off my meat was burned. Should have realized that only one other table had people eating there. Place has deteriorated over the years. An unknown spot that has great food. Diverse menu with fresh ingredients and plenty of sides to choose from over and above rice and refried beans. The queso is to die for. I sometimes forget that this place is so local. We have La Tolteca as such a mainstay, that it is hard to choose another Mexican restaurant when we go out. Fantastic New Mexican restaurant in Forest Hill. I had not had an opportunity to visit. My mistake for putting it off. We had the Carnita Chile Rojo and Nacho Salad. Could not be better. Serving staff was fantastic as well. Like family. Impeccable decor. Modern with inclusion and display of details of their proud Mexican heritage. My wife and I plan to be regulars here. We came here based upon a recommendation of a friend. The restaurant exceeded my expectations. The food was fresh and delicious. The staff was friendly and prompt with providing us drinks and fresh made guacamole. My wife got the Chori Chicken and it was amazing. Other patrons were remarking that the food was authentic Mexican food. I'm not an authority on the authenticity but I can say that the food was well prepared and very flavorful.
