This was a great place recommended to me by a local person. It appears they switch up the menu periodically but the dish I had for dinner was the Ebi à la king (shrimp, mushrooms, onions, a little peppers + rice in a delicious white sauce). Fresh and flavorful, though was a bit heavy with the onions for me. There is no inside seating but there's a really cute shared courtyard with a few tables. I know some of the reviews I saw mentioned that it can be a long wait but I went on a Monday night around peak dinner time and didn't have much of a wait at all. The courtyard is also a cute vibe, including a piano that people would just walk up and randomly start playing. The only downsides I would say is they don't provide real silverware- it was a little difficult to get all the shrimp and vegetables on a plastic fork. But even that wasn't enough to impact the rating. I'd also say the dish was quite filling even though it may not look like a lot of food. I will definitely visit again the next time I'm in Waikiki.
A very literal interpretation of garlic shrimp.... Don't understand the hype. Came here because it was a decently rated garlic shrimp spot. Other than the shrimp being fresh, this wasn't it. Literally shrimp with garlic. No butter. One measly lemon, so the flavors weren't hitting. Just oily garlic shrimp. Rather make the drive to Giovanni's. Staff was also a bit cold, but outside seating was nice. Won't be back.
Today I got to try the Spicy Chicken Curry and it was very tasty. Also, the service was very friendly and helpful.
During my recent visit to Honolulu for the Hapalua Half Marathon, I came here a couple of times for dinner. The location was tucked inside a small courtyard on the north side of Kuhio Ave just west of the International Market Place. It was behind the popular Marugame Udon. It was kind of easy to miss. On one visit, I ordered their garlic shrimp (ebi kahuku). It was very similar to what you can get up at North Shore, but these shrimp were peeled. For my other visit, I ordered their ebi a la King. It was a pretty efficient transaction. After paying for my order, I was given a pager. Once my food was ready, I grabbed a pair of chopsticks and took it back to my room to enjoy. Both items were good and delicious, but the portion was on the smaller side.
Too good not to return when I'm in the area. The Garlic Shrimp is still my favorite. No peeling necessary and no pokey shrimp heads or shells. They give you plenty of garlic on top of your shrimp and rice. They definitely make to order because it always comes out nice and hot. Come in the evening on a weekday as to avoid lines.
We wanted to check EbiNomi out since it is a popular spot for garlic shrimp in the area. We ordered the garlic shrimp plate and it took a long time to come out, about 35 minutes, even though we were the only ones in line. The plate came with rice and only 6 medium sized shrimp and cost almost $23 with tax. The garlic shrimp was cooked well, not overcooked or anything but there was nothing really special about it since it just tastes like garlic and butter. Especially for the steep price, it's not worth it and was really disappointing. We were the only customers there but had to wait for outdoor seating since there are people just chilling at the tables. There are better garlic shrimp spots in the area that are more affordable and give better portions.
There's always a time or two when Yelp steers you wrong.. When you see the excellent score, then go and try the food and is left scratching your head.. Asking yourself, who gave these scores, and why?? EbiNomi was one of them places for me!! Either I ordered the wrong thing, came on an off cook day, or I didn't get the hype because the garlic shrimp I ordered here was sodium free and not delicious! I mean it literally tasted like shrimp with a gang of unseasoned cooked garlic.. that's it! There was zero wow factor, nothing interesting or different about it- just garlic, plain rice, and shrimp.. I put it on par with hospital food type Shit flavor wise! Skip it!!
don't be fooled by the positive reviews. tasted like jarlic, like they just scooped it out of the jar and dumped it on top. THEY should've paid ME to eat this tourist trap shrimp.
I ordered from Ebinomi through Uber Eats and was really happy with my meal. I had the Ebikahuku, and the shrimp were not only beautifully presented but packed with a lot of great garlic flavor. The shrimp were pretty big in size too. The portion was balanced and had a solid shrimp to rice ratio. Definitely a tasty option if you're craving garlic shrimp and want something that travels well.
It's a little tucked behind and it's more of a to go place! They do have a few tables that you can sit at outside of the restaurant. We had the garlic shrimp plate here and it was very garlic-y, which I loved! It had so many chunks of garlic! I wish it was seasoned a little more but I used hot sauce and it was good~
Every time I'm at Waikīkī I come to this curry spot! They have some of the best curry in the entire Waikīkī strip! I got their chicken curry and it is so creamy and tasty! Their curry have a lot of coconut milk to give it that slight spice after taste, which I love! There are searing outside and nearby as this is a small restaurant where you pick up the food.
Extra spicy chicken curry! This was super delicious, this will be one of the first few spots I'd want to stop by the next time I arrive to Hawai'i! I will get it just spicy and not extra spicy this time!! The chicken was super tender and I just kept wanting that sauce! Can't wait!
It's been ages since I've had garlic shrimp, so that's what I ordered. Took about 10-15 minutes for my order to be prepared. There were 8 peeled shrimp and a lot of garlic. I love garlic. The shrimp were also plump. I enjoyed this dish.

Just look at all that garlic and butter! Would instantly place this over Giovanni's. A TON of garlic and butter, shrimp are already peeled, but it feels like it's missing something - maybe a little spice or some other kick? Nevertheless, incredibly delicious. read more
Love it! It is a small restaurant hidden behind the popular Marugame Udon. We were skeptical at first, because not seeing many people eat there. However, it was actually beyond our expectation. The shrimp is fresh and has very bouncy texture. The portion is good too, very fulfilling. The garlic shrimp's flavor is very unique, and pairs well with the white rice. The curry one is good too, the shrimp is not overcooked. I seriously don't understand why this spot is not crowded during dinner time. Probably because it is not on the main street. My only suggestion is to provide more side choices, like half rice half veggie/salad, to make it a more balanced meal. Nevertheless, love it and definitely will come back read more

Been wanting to try this place out. Glad I did! Got there right when they were opened at 11 am and I was their first customer of the day. Their garlic shrimp is bomb yo! Forget going to North Shore for those shrimp trucks. Just come here if you're still in Waikiki. Their shrimp is just as good, if not better! Shrimps were very very FRESH! I also really enjoyed their fried oysters, and their potato shrimp is a must-try! Located right behind Marukame. Avoid that stupid long line there and come here if you're super hungry. My boyfriend found this restaurant nearby our hotel. It's truly a hidden gem located behind a busy udon restaurant. We stopped in for a snack and got the takoyaki Japanese octopus balls and the coconut shrimp. The takoyaki was weird... a very unpleasant warm, mushy texture with little flavor outside of the mayo and sauce drizzled on top. There was a dime sized piece of octopus in each ball that is about the size of a hush puppy. I've never had takoyaki, and I wouldn't get this again. The coconut shrimp were a little on the sweet side, but they were pretty good. The fries were the skinny kind and were nicely salted and crisp. My advice is skip the squishy octopus balls and go for the shrimp. read more

The best garlic shrimp I ever had. It's a small place. You order at the counter and there are few tables outside in the open area where you can sit and enjoy the delicious meal. We saw the signs for this place when we left Marukame Udon. My son complains about shells on shrimp so he was happy to see the signs for peeled shrimp with garlic butter. We wanted to eat near our hotel but we didn't have reservations for anywhere so we looked up Yelp and saw the favorable reviews. Super happy that it was nice and casual and no lines. We sat on the patio and ate out of the to go container since that is how it comes. We did have a table to sit at and when I ordered, she asked how many diners we had since I ordered the family meal. They gave us extra plates and plastic ware for everyone so that was nice of her and nice that they were proactive about it. I ordered the Ohana Ebikahku. A single person feeds one and comes with 8 shrimp but the ohana comes with 16 (which is only 2x the amount of shrimp) but she said it fed 2-3 people. There was a lot of rice. 3 of us did share it and I guess it was enough. My stomach is full but I feel like I want a little something more - maybe dessert. The shrimp were large and plump. Only issue I had with it is the garlic is definitely the processed garlic from a jar and not fresh garlic. It has a distinct flavor and I think the dish would have been so much better with fresh garlic. Overall, it was a good choice and we had somewhere to sit and eat. read more

On this list of local places to eat in Oahu, this should be near the bottom. Had the Ebikahuku (Garlic Shrimp) and as you can see from the photo it's not very appealing from a visual perspective. The shrimp themselves were just ok, and the bed of rice they were served on was a clumpy mess. If you're going to have garlic shrimp while on Oahu do yourself a favor and get it from the north shore. This place is on my hard pass list. read more

Made reservations through dine in Waikiki. Really can't go wrong with the deal that they have going on now. Cashier/server was very courteous. She offered to change the genre of the music that was playing in the cozy courtyard. Food was really delicious. The portions were good. Table was clean and set with good presentation. What I appreciated was the basket that was underneath the table for personal belongings. There was a lot of people passing thru the small alley so felt safer to place my purse in that basket. We were walking around in the area and came across this gem. The store is a little into the back and the employee was helpful in explaining all the items since it was our first time. The shrimp was a jumbo shrimp that was very well seasoned and a lot of garlic for flavor. It was honestly so delicious and buttery The beef stew was also delicious and had a lot of veggies that were added to the dish, like carrots and potatoes. I wasn't a huge fan of the slight ketchup/tomato flavor it had, so while it was good, I don't think I'll order it again. But the garlic shrimp?? I will order it again hands down. Garlic shrimp saves the day! Currently, you can "dine in", which is pretty much the dished coming in a to go box in the tables in front of the restaurant. read more

Even though the name suggests Ebi specialists, this place offer one of the best beef stew. We stopped by right before their closing time and they were out of ceviche. So we order the beef stew. This is little shop is located in the heart of Waikiki. Across from the international market place and behind marukameudon. It's a small shop -- take out only -- but they have two small tables outside if you want to eat it there. Lights and umbrellas provided. Follow their IG -- They post lots of specials #drooooool. Across the street from the International Marketplace in Waikiki is a row of eateries and a place I've been wanting to try for so long. Ebinomi's Garlic Shrimp plate did not disappoint! If you love a whole bunch of garlic on your rice, then this plate is for you! Also, did I tell you that the shrimp is already peeled?! You don't have to get messy like the North Shore! I ordered ahead and it was ready when we got there. It was also a Sunday so I got the last 2 pieces of their prime rib. Husband says it was good as well, but the garlic shrimp plate was so Ono! I would say it's the same portion and price as the north shore, but the shrimp is peeled! That's a big bonus! read more

If a friend hadn't told me about this place, I probably would have never gone or taken notice. It is located in the heart of Waikiki just off Kuhio Ave., but inset, behind another building, so you can't see it from the street. It's small with outdoor patio style dinning if you want to eat there, but it really is more of a takeout kind of place. They have a small yet very eclectic menu of items ranging from curries, stews, rice plates and fried items. Most of which focus around shrimp, but there are some beef items as well. I like that they offer an assortment of small bites as well as family size portions. Tried there EbiCocktail, which was their take on a shrimp ceviche. It was tasty and refreshing. Probably the healthiest thing on the menu for those watching their calorie intake. I also tried the Potato Shrimps. Very interesting small bites dish. It was different, yet very good. Something you should probably enjoy eating right away as it is a fried item that would taste best hot and crispy. I also tried their Ika Karaage which was basically calamari, but still very good. For a quick bite and good food that is of good price value, check them out. Already thinking of trying other items I saw, so I will be back. read more

The coconut shrimp was crunchy and sweet :) The garlic shrimp's garlic seemed a bit strong for us, but overall it tasted good. Both of them had a decent amount of shrimp so we were satisfied. I wish they were cheaper, but I understand it's hard to so in Waikiki area. read more

EbiNomi is a hidden gem in Waikiki for the plumpest, delicious shrimp on the beach! I say hidden because it's literally right behind Marukame Udon lol But it won't be hard to find as you'll find big beautiful LED umbrellas set up outside the patio for cute dinner seating. The menu consists of a variety of dishes such as Hawaii's staple garlic shrimp, curry, beef, plenty of vegetarian options, and cream based sauce delights! Besides the traditional Hawaiian Garlic Shrimp, the other recipes are inspired from various countries such as Thailand, Mexico, Hungary, and France. Pretty cool right?! The single order portions are plenty for second meal leftovers, but they also offer family portions too. Check out the website menu and click on the little book icon under the prices, you'll find fun facts about the dishes and how they were made! It's evident that so much love was put into all this food. The chicken curry is authentically epic! Their curry paste is imported from a Michelin Star restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand called Blue Elephant. Their partners also received training from the Blue Elephant cooking school, which explains why their food is so bombbb! The garlic shrimp Kahuku style is my favorite classic. Super easy to dig into since they cook without the shells on. Mess free, same delicious addictive garlicky flavor! I could eat this forever. Their garlic sauce also isn't as greasy as other places which was a pleasant surprise for my gut haha The shrimp a la king reminded me of an Alfredo sauce. It's rich, thick, and heavenly. Loved the abundant mix of veggies in this such as mushrooms and peppers. It goes SO WELL with white rice! If you're in the mood for quick and light bite, get the Ebi Cocktail. This Mexican inspired appetizer is served in a generous pint size portion, paired with crackers. You get three big cocktail shrimps in super refreshing, cold, chunky soup like mixture of avocado, tomatoes, celery, onion, and cucumbers. Since the kitchen is testing a few dishes, I noticed they offered Cantonese beef stew on this particular night. This dish brings me back to my childhood being Cantonese myself, So I ordered it to take home and try the day after. Oh. My. God. I APPROVE SO MUCH! All the flavors had been soaking in the broth so after reheating it in a pot, it was exactly the taste I was hoping for! You don't need to go all the way to Kahuku for the messy eating of garlic shrimp! Here at EbiNomi, their shrimps are ALL PEELED just for you which is the best part. You don't have to hassle with the mess. Just dive right in after it's freshly made. The inside is the counter with the menu above. Difficult to stay six feet apart inside. One person can order at a time. Safety measures are there. There's a plexiglass between the masked cashier and you. While waiting outside there's a menu to look at posted on the door. Their EbiKahuku is to be ordered most definitely when going there. The rice is covered with their garlic sauce/seasoning. There is a very good amount of jumbo shrimp and rice. Shrimp is cooked to perfection. On a hot afternoon, the EbiCocktail is a yummy cool down. It comes with crackers and tastes so fresh with the tomatoes and avocados. It also has a nice kick to it. Vegetarians have a yummy option with their veggie curry. The yellow curry is your typical delicious Thai curry, as they get their spices and seasonings directly from Thailand. Had their Chicken à la King. A simple white sauce with tender juicy chicken. No dryness in any chicken just an "Mmm" after every bite. Their Hungarian Beef Stew is not your typical "local beef stew." It is a great dish to try different parts of beef in your beef stew. It has a very unique as original taste. Overall, if you love eating shrimp but hate peeling it, this is your haven. read more

I'm a fan of EbiNomi garlic shrimp! Anytime you get that garlic goodness without having to peel your shrimp or de-vein it, sign me up. Plus, for us townies it's much easier to get vs. having to drive al the way to the North Shore. One thing I also appreciate is that the flavor is still there without having the shrimp soaking in oil. That's one turn off for me since you also have the rice which swims in oil. Not at EbiNomi. They are also on food delivery services so it's not like you will need to actually make the drive into Waikiki and pay for parking. The one thing I wish the garlic shrimp plates came with is some type of vegetable to balance everything out. Either a salad or some type of steamed veggie. Then you would be so loaded with all that rice that they give. But the flavor is there, the shrimp is cooked perfectly, not too dry or overcooked which is one worry about peeling the shrimp. They also have several other varieties of shrimp dishes like curry and ala king, not to mention a Hungarian beef stew that also looked good. If you're in Waikiki, don't blink it's easy to miss if you're driving by on Kuhio. EbiNomi is behind the subway and the building that Marukame Udon is in off Kuhio Avenue. If you're already in Waikiki it's a short walk and there are a few tables to dine outside. Take the time to try one of their shrimp dishes out, the taste is totally worth it. And if you're like me and don't want to waste all that rice, I made a garlic fried rice the next morning. Double win ha! read more

Found this hidden gem after walking thru the International Market Place. I'm Catholic and I can't consume meat on Fridays. I immediately saw fried oysters, fried fish and chips, and garlic shrimps. The fried oysters was slightly crispy on the outside, tasted salty and briny, slightly sweet, and chewy on the inside. The fried fish was also slightly crispy on the outside and flavorful when lemon was added. Lastly, the garlic shrimp tasted garlicky, buttery, and paired off well with lemon. I would say these garlic shrimps are way better than Giovanni's truck up in the North Shore lol. Overall, food and customer service was great. read more

Super friendly and helpful service; nice clean, quiet, comfortable outdoor seating; tasty well prepared meals; and byo. This was a nice bright find behind Marukame in the space that used to be occupied by korean bbq. My friend and I split a shrimp a la king and a veggie curry. Both dishes offered a hefty serving of food plus two scoops of rice. The food tasted freshly prepared to order, the sauces were nice and the seasonings were balanced. The shrimp pieces were jumbo, plump, and and tender. If you're hungry, EbiNomi is a good value in Waikiki. While your food is being prepared, you can walk one block to the Holo Holo store to pick up your drinks. By the time you get back your food will be done. read more

I came here for dinner to try out, there was a 1/2 off promotion that I couldn't pass up, I'm a local resident so I'm looking for someplace close by. I ordered the beef stew and also the Garlic shrimp. The stew was ono, I mean just like home made! Tasted delicious, so now I know where to go for great, hearty stew. The garlic shrimp was delicious too, the shrimp was large as prawns, wonderful texture and flavorful all the way through. The prices are fair, the girl working the front is friendly and efficient. Wish they would use recyclable containers, cardboard or compostable plates? The plastic utensils could definitely use a better upgrade in my opinion. I give the restaurant 5 stars! read more
