I missed eating curry dishes. Growing up I used to eat curry dishes made by my grandmother. When I saw EbiNomi's curry menu, it felt like home. Upon meeting our dear friend Lisa, she got us a table outside of EbiNomi. We decided to celebrate her academic success. What a good way to start the weekend. We went to the counter to place our order. I decided on the curry vegetable plate. It tasted fabulous! The curry gave the vegetables such flavor! It came with cauliflower, asparagus, broccoli, carrots, a little bit of onion and two scoops of white rice. Joe requested the curry chicken and Lisa asked for the garlic shrimp. They said the food tasted amazing. Being a kiosk, the staff set up tables and some chairs so patrons can dine outside. EbiNomi turned out to be a gem waiting to be found. Everything at this place was freshly made and very tasty. We had the Potato Shrimps and the Ebi Curry. The portions were very generous and everything is prepared fresh and very tasty. The ambiance is also nice, there's a piano there where people can come and play at their leisure. The only problem is that there are few tables and the alley can get swifts of smells from other places (some not nice) but a to-go order would solve that little detail. Garlic shrimp was beyond delicious. Coconut shrimp was good but not as good as the garlic. They're French fries were perfect, with the amount of crisp. Only reason it didn't get 5/5 stars is due to the staff. She didn't seem too thrilled to work there nor gave any suggestions. read more

Delicious gem in the heart of Waikiki! We were wandering for a final meal in Oahu and so happy we found this cool spot behind heavy foot traffic. The host and chef were super friendly and our food came out warm and fresh to order. We ordered the spam and eggs and were very delighted and enjoyed it very much. A great new spot in Waikiki. So glad that they are open for takeout during these quarantine times! If you are a shrimp lover then you need to check them out. The food: Shrimp cocktail- perfectly cooked shrimp drenched in a yummy tomato based sauce. It has a little kick to it but not super spicy. It comes with some crackers, but I just ended up drinking it straight from the container because it was so tasty! Shrimp curry- again, perfectly cooked shrimp in a curry based sauce. The curry was very flavorful with lots of spices. I can't handle spicy dishes and this curry did have a nice kick, but I still loved it! Shrimp avocado salad- Delish! Huge pieces of avocado, shrimp, and a yummy Asian style dressing. Hungarian short rib stew- Very tasty! The meat was very tender and the stew was delicious. Delicious and perfectly cooked Garlic Shrimp over rice. Tons of garlic, with a balance of flavors, and not too salty. This spot beats the North Shore trucks/stands that I have tried for sure! The shrimps are bigger and are presumably cooked to order, so they are not overcooked. The potato wrapped shrimps were a good snack. I am glad I found this restaurant. It I is located in a courtyard, and would be missed from the main road if I did not seek it out. They sold out of the prime rib loco moco, so I will have to return to try it out. read more

Great quality food for reasonable prices. Came here laat month on a Wednesday evening and Friday morning, somewhat different vibes. Wednesday evening wasn't as busy, there was a cook in the back and a server on her phone in the front. However, on a Friday morning, there was ONE person who was both cashier AND cook. Wait time was obviously a little longer on Friday, but this sweet man works so hard and checks in to see if you like your food. Because of this wonderful service and the amazing food (spam, eggs, french toast, Portugese sausage, hash, rice), rating 5 stars and definitely recommend! read more

If you want garlic shrimp , you can make the trek to North Shore, but if you're in Waikiki, you don't have to! Try the garlic shrimp at EbiNomi. As locals would say, get choke (plenty) garlic, which I love, and it flavors the rice underneath. Ono! EbiNomi also has plenty other dishes to choose from like loco moco, prime rib, short ribs, fish and chips, fried oysters and curry. read more

One of my favorite spots in Waikiki. I wanted garlic shrimp but since I had it the day before I ordered the thai shrimp curry and I was not disappointed. It happened to be my favorite meal on the island! It was unexpected and glad I found this place. We had the chicken curry and the fried squid. The curry was really flavorful, it was slightly sweet, but less sweet than Thai curry, and more creamy than Japanese curry. I really enjoyed it, probably one of the best tasting curry's I've had. Generous portion with plenty of mostly white meat chicken and some veggies mixed it. The fried squid was crispy on the outside, pretty good. The batter doesn't have that much seasoning, so I had to ask for dipping sauce- they gave me a sweet chili sauce that was decent. read more

Garlic Shrimp is not, "no shell" the tail shell is still on. Chicken karaage was dark meat but only 40% was eatable because the rest was chunks of batter. My kids finished all the chicken which they have never done. They charged me another dollar for spicy sauce which I didn't ask for. I would not go back. read more

The garlic shrimp here is so good! I was searching for garlic shrimp in Waikiki on Yelp and came across EbiNomi. I usually head up to the North Shore for good garlic shrimp, but I think I found my new spot! This small and unassuming restaurant is located by Marugame Udon. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a few hours closed in between so double check the hours. I tried the garlic shrimp, prime rib loco moco, and coconut shrimp with fries. The garlic shrimp was so flavorful and loaded with garlic bits. Also, the shrimp is peeled, so I don't have to worry about peeling the shrimp or eating the shells (which sometimes scratches up my throat). The prime rib loco moco is delicious too! The prime rib slices are so tender and actually flavorful since they cook it in au jus. There was also a good amount of gravy too! The coconut shrimp was pretty standard - nothing special, but the fries are crispy and tasty! Next time, I'll be back to try the shrimp curry! They import the curry from Thailand, and it seems like a lot of people like it. Overall, a great spot to get your shrimp fix. The staff is also very friendly and welcoming. Mahalo! read more

Stopped by for an early lunch before my flight back to NY. I wanted something quick but delicious as my last meal in Hawaii and decided on a garlic shrimp plate which is one of my favorite things. This is an unassuming takeout place and tucked inside a courtyard with a few other eateries. The garlic shrimp here is decadent, shrimps we're huge and best of all deshelled for convenient eating. The garlic butter is so delicious and they give you a nice serving of that to coat every bite of the rice. If you're looking for excellent garlic shrimp in Waikiki this is the place to go, no need to trek to the North Shore! read more

We got the garlic shrimp and the prime rib loco moco. To be completely transparent I don't care for locomoco - it's very "Salisbury steak" for me. That being said, the meat was very soft and the portion was generous. The garlic shrimp was also very good! It was hot, good amount of food, and exactly what you would expect. EbiNomi Ratings: 4/5 Food: 4.25/5 - My last meal before heading home, so we decided to go with something hearty and homey. They are known for their Loco Moco, but I wasn't a fan, instead I got the Hungarian Beef and it's quite tasty and hearty. My boyfriend and I ate at the airport and was satisfied. See the description below of the last item I got in Hawaii. - Hungarian Beef [GET]: Beef short ribs and chunks are premium quality with a good mixture of lean and fatty meats. It was tender, easy to chew, and flavorful. It comes in a nice thick sauce with organic carrots and skin-on potatoes cooked perfectly right. The potatoes was starchy, chewy, and soft, wonderful texture and not mushy at all. My favorite was their sauce. It is cooked for 48 hours in their Hungarian secret wine and tomato sauce. There's a slight tanginess from the tomato and savories from the short ribs; this dish is braised wonderfully. The double rice was clutch too, and make sure to mixed it up with the wine sauce. Ambiance: 4/5 - Located next to Matcha Maiko and near Marukame Udon in Waikiki. EbiNomi is small shop with some outdoor seating area, but gets quite crowded, so expect it to be take-out only. It is a tourist spot, but a great spot for something quick, casual, and not that expensive. Only metered parking nearby, so make sure to walk a bit. Price: 3.75/5 - The Hungarian Beef was $18.95 before tax and tips. Prices are slightly higher, but reasonable and decent portion sizes. I think it is still sort of worth it, since I get to try something new and unique before I head out of Hawaii, but nothing too mind blowing. Service: 4/5 - The staffs are helpful, patience, and nice. They give us a rundown of the menu, because there's tons of options. The service is great and fast, our food came out within 15 minutes after ordering it. We got it for to-go and the containers are wrapped neatly and nicely, so it was easy for us to carry and eat on the road. BLUF: Tasty local Hawaiian food, perfect for the tourist experience in Waikiki. I would recommend trying out the Hungarian Beef and skip on the Loco Mono, but shouldn't be on the top of your food list. It is a quick and casual spot if you have a busy day. Lastly if I decide to come back to Hawaii again, I will return and try some of their brunch items. read more

A super hidden gem. If you can't find the place take the time to look for this delicious spot! Unfortunately Hawaii has a 48 covid test for restaurants and today is our last day so EbiNomi was our next choice. When we walked up to the restaurant we were greeted by the sweetest server who answered our questions right off the bat. She knew exactly how to explain each item on the menu and took her time with us. Definitely had the aloha spirit. I ordered the Nomi Nomi (stuffed French toast) and my husband ordered the Prime Rib LocoMoco. There's a breakfast menu that is served until 11a and then they also have the all day menu. The menu also offers portagee sausage, spam or bacon and eggs and shrimp and rice. Now I must say, I'm super impressed with the French toast. Not all places who just started a breakfast menu can pull off an insane French toast. Nice crust from the dip on the outside and soft gooey Nutella flavor on the inside. What impressed me even more was it was like a Nutella French toast sandwich! Two pieces of bread fried together and stayed together! Being a lover of anything breakfast I must say this by far blew my mind. Although I'm easily amused, this takes the toast lol. I couldn't resist my husbands meal of Prime Rib loco moco and being from Vegas prime rib isn't far and few between. Each bite was equal with gravy, prime rib (a little bit of fat), egg and rice. The prime rib was juicy and buttery melt between your teeth goodness. It wasn't chewy or over done and they serve the prime rib cut up for an easier consumption. Not overly seasoned with each bite you can definitely taste the quality of the meat. The egg was a perfect over easy (typically places are incapable of making eggs the right way) I just want to thank Basalt for turning us away or else we wouldn't have found this tucked up gem. I came here twice in a row! The first night I ordered the garlic shrimp. It was pretty good, but not memorable 7.5/10. The next night I ordered the Extra Spicy shrimp curry and my partner ordered the spicy chicken curry. Both were DELICIOUS. I personally preferred the chicken curry over the shrimp curry ONLY because I prefer my shrimp with the shell on to lock in the sweet flavor. But besides that point, I highly recommend ordering both. Ebinomi is located in the same courtyard as Matcha Cafe Maiko, Kono's, and Marugame across from the international shopping center. We got the garlic shrimp, chicken curry, and coconut shrimp and they were all delicious! The shrimp come mostly peeled (tail on only) which is convenient. There is plenty of garlic and rice to accompany it! The spicy chicken curry had a good kick and was well seasoned. We came by a second time for the dine in bogo entree event and it was great! Wow is the prime rib delicious. Incredibly tender, flavorful, and high quality prime-grade beef. Amazing take on a classic. I'm fairly confident there are subtle amounts of Asian ingredients in the bark and au jus. Super delicious. The owner was so friendly and showed us the whole roast before we got our portions (we ordered 4 on Friday for Sunday pick-up). Really liked the included corn and horseradish sauce as well (although it would be nice if there was an optional spicier / stronger version of the sauce). Coconut shrimp was good. We visited this very small restaurant (no indoor seating, there are tables in the common patio area) and had very good food, served hot and fresh. You order at the counter and the staff brings the food to you. The cashier was very friendly and answered all of our questions (we were first-timers) as we were trying to decide what to order. We appreciated her help. My wife had coconut shrimp and fries while I had the garlic shrimp with rice. The size of the portions was appropriate and the food was tasty. The shrimp plates here are way better than the over-hyped Giovanni's shrimp truck in North Shore, and you don't even have to drive far for it if you're staying in Waikiki! This is honestly a hidden gem right behind Marugame Udon. We initially wanted Marugame, but the line was just ridiculously long and we were starving. So we walked around and chanced upon this little eatery. After placing our orders, they have a couple tables outside for outdoor dining so you don't need to get your vaccination card checked. The shrimp plates here are quite big and you can share between 2 people. Also the quality of shrimp is fantastic and fresh! You can just tell by how tender they are. This is a hidden gem tucked away in Waikiki. Unfortunately, there's no parking unless you can find street parking. Easily walkable from International Marketplace or Royal Hawaiian Center. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. Tucked away on Kuhio right by Matcha Cafe Maiko is this little takeout place that serves comfort from different parts of the world. They have some tables set up outside so you can dine in which is what we did. The food did take about 20 minutes. The menu is small. You can choose from an individual or Ohana size for most items except the prime rib. We got the individual sized Ebi à la King to share which had jumbo shrimps (peeled) in rich, cream sauce with mushrooms, onions and bell peppers. I really enjoyed it. The best part was that the shrimp was already peeled and huge! The sauce was flavorful but not too creamy or heavy. We also asked and were told we can call ahead which is what we will try to do next time and try to get takeout. Our plate lunch was about $16 + tax. To me the prices were reasonable for what you get and the quality. This little gem was a surprise to find. Not only was their concept of having all these different culture and places, their comfort food available to you but it's in a location where after lunch/dinner you could grab dessert and a drink all within stumbling distance from each other. Jasmine was a fantastic help and super friendly. The knife was sharp and strong enough to cut through the prime rib (only available on Sundays) and there is plenty of rice that comes with each dish. I don't find very many places like this where I want to go back to try everything else on the menu, so you can expect me back here on my next trip to Oahu. Ps. Ramen, according to the server, was the most popular thing on the menu, so how likely could it get messed up? Tonkatsu: Rich, but lacked any salt or had very little. We requested some salt and that instantly made the ramen better. The noodles had enough salt to carry it, but the broth was not great. It tasted like the broth was watered down or reconstituted, however no seasoning was added to re-adjust the broth. Broth: Had little salt and lacked punch, umami, and was brown instead of white. Noodles: Had enough salt to taste good, but was slightly overcooked Pork: Extremely bland. Tasted like zero salt was added during cooking. Toppings: Greatly lacking in toppings Tsukemen: The Tsukemen had a lot of the same issues. Now being a dipping ramen, the broth should be even richer and more flavorful than any normal ramen. Tsukemen -- no matter where you have it in Japan, should be richer and saltier than most broths, but the broth here was severely lacking. For $26 a bowl this was worse than your DIY frozen ramen packs. Now I'm not asking for Japan-level of ramen mastery here, this is after all, just a tourist spot -- but if your Tonkatsu is the best selling item, you have to step it up. Our server did mention that some people complained about the amount of salt in ramen, so they adjusted it. But dare I say, instead of diluting the normal salt/seasoning amount for everyone, couldn't you just add a separate, flavor-light version for people inexperienced with ramen, instead of diluting the original for everyone else? If you're reading this Mr. Morimoto, I would highly encourage you to fly here and order the ramen. I think you and I would share the same opinions. P.S. I've also been to your other Morimoto spots and it was not this bad.

I heard about Ebinomi through social media and thought to give it a try yesterday. Took me a while to find it, it is in Waikiki, hidden away behind Marukame Udon on Kūhiō. I got there after dark and the store has a nice appeal with a colorful logo and digital signage. They have two tables for their customers in a courtyard setting and it was quite pleasant eating there under an umbrella and music from a wireless speaker. Now the food. I had their butter-garlic shrimps which they call it Ebikahuku. It was almost perfect: the shrimps were peeled, and cooked just right, the butter garlic sauce was yummy. I said 'almost' perfect because I am a real garlic person and I would like to see more garlic, but extra garlic was not available as an option. Taste-wise this is way better than anything I have tasted on the Northshore (except for the garlic). My partner had their Hungarian Beef Stew. Despite my puzzling question why a shrimp place would offer a beef dish but once I had a taste I understood why. This was not like all the beef stew I have ever had, the sauce was delicious and the beef was fork tender but has various textures that made the experience interesting. The vegetables were cooked just right also. Very happy with the dinners, if we had closed our eyes when we ate we could easily think we were in a fine dining restaurant (but without the big bill). I saw this on the paper so I thought to give this new place a try on my last few days in Hawaii. The restaurant is a little hidden inside a courtyard behind the famous udon place. I came to try their shrimps but seeing chicken ala king I just had to try that, I have not had that in years my mum used to make it but unfortunately she no longer cooks due to health problems. It was absolutely delicious even better than mum's. The sauce was rich and creamy, and plenty of chicken chunks and vegetables. It was so rich I could only eat half and saved the rest for the next day. I also had their shrimp cocktail which was also outstanding - refreshing and three large shrimps inside, great value. And the shrimps were cooked just right still had that 'crunch'. Hope they do well and will try again when I come back next year, or perhaps they come to the UK? My only complaint is that I was enjoying my meal on one of their tables in their cozy little courtyard and there was a guy smoking right next to the NO SMOKING sign.....how inconsiderate! read more

While exploring Waikiki, I stumbled upon Ebi Nomi, tucked away in a less conspicuous part of the area. Intrigued, I decided to try their chicken karaage, a Japanese style fried chicken. The presentation was promising, with the chicken arriving hot and freshly prepared in a clean box, suggesting it was made to order. However, my initial impressions were quickly overshadowed by the quality of the chicken itself. Upon tasting, it was evident that the chicken was overfried. The texture was devoid of any juiciness, and it lacked distinctive flavors, feeling excessively oily instead. This made the meal somewhat unpleasant, and I found myself regretting the choice as it left me feeling guilty about my indulgence. While the meal was technically edible, it was far from memorable. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend the chicken karaage from Ebi Nomi, nor am I likely to return for a second visit. There are certainly other culinary delights in Waikiki that promise a more satisfying and enjoyable dining experience. read more

I recently visited EbiNomi in Waikiki beach and was blown away by the quality of their food. The highlight of my meal was definitely the ebi gyoza, which were some of the best I've ever had. The dumpling skin was thin and crispy, and the filling was packed with succulent shrimp and flavorful herbs. I also tried the spicy tuna roll, which was equally delicious. The tuna was fresh and had just the right amount of heat, and the rice was perfectly seasoned. The portion sizes were generous, and the presentation was beautiful. The service at EbiNomi was also top-notch. The staff were friendly and attentive, and went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience. The restaurant itself was cozy and inviting, with a modern and chic decor. Overall, I highly recommend EbiNomi to anyone looking for excellent Japanese cuisine in Waikiki beach. Moved to Waikiki recently and since then my wife and I been having a hard time finding good places to eat because of the COVID virus.We usually hit up Cheesecake Factory but my wife found this place and right off the back I noticed they had a dish called ebi Kahuku. So I took the time to check it out to see if it met the standards of the famous Kahuku shrimp trucks. And it did! It was really good. The shrimps were big not over cooked and had lots of taste. I'm looking forward to trying out other dishes. They have a nice lil set up outside to sit and eat and it's clean. Oh by the way the prices were really fare. And they also had great customer service. I had the most wonderful experience at EbiNomi! The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. You can really taste the care and quality in every bite.
