I've given this restaurant multiple tries but it is just not that good. I've tried their specials and regular menu items. Today, I had their half rack of ribs with a side of salad and baked beans. The ribs were dry and the rub (from specials menu) was pretty sweet and overpowering. My husband and I got half rack each and we only had a couple of bites. I have always been seated fairly quickly, if not right away, and they normally ask if you would like to dine inside or outside. Made early dinner reservations at 4pm for my wifey's birthday. The restaurant opens at 4:00, so we were the first ones there. We were promptly seated after checking in. We decided to sit inside since it was still hot outside at 4. Our waitress was very friendly and helped us navigate the menu. She took our drink order as well as our entree orders. We ordered the rib plate with tater tots and potato mac salad, a 2-meat plate with brisket and huli chicken with potato mac salad and Mexican corn, and lastly a huli chicken plate with baked beans and salad greens. The restaurant's interior was festively decorated for Christmas and there was Christmas music playing over the sound system. On one end of the restaurant there is a garage style roll up door. One of the employees raised up the door and now the restaurant was open to the outside on one end. Pretty ingenious. I'm guessing that the owners did that so that the waitstaff don't have to walk in and out of the entry doors to serve guests who are sitting on the outdoor lanai. Our food came quickly and it smelled amazing with that BBQ smoked aroma. I enjoyed my huli chicken and the sides. The baked beans had the brisket ends chopped inside of it. Very tasty. I tried my son's pork ribs and my wifey's brisket. All delicious. We forgot to order the house made pickles, so we asked the waitress and she promptly brought it. It went well with the meal. There were 3 different sauces in squeeze bottles on the table. I went with the Classic and it was perfect with the huli chicken. We enjoyed everything about the restaurant and the food ---- service was great. The only thing that was undesirable was that the flies came into the restaurant when the garage-style roll up door was opened. Not much that you can do about that ---- it's like being at a picnic at the beach. No biggie. My son wants to go back to Easy 'Que for his birthday : ). The reviews were so good and the pictures online looked great and their other restaurant Over easy is always yummy so I thought this would be a home run but not so much. The meat was low quality and the Brussels were so drenched in oil I had to spit them out. Left with a stomach ache after a 60$ meal. Just don't. The waitress was kind but very unattentive and the flys were bananas! Swarming making it hard to enjoy our meal with no help from the staff . Everything was sticky from the chairs to the menu and it didn't smell good in the restaurant making me uneasy about what the kitchen looked like. Decided to try Easy 'Que for a nice afternoon lunch but wasn't sure what their meat-free offerings were. A quick browse of the menu assured me that there would be something for everyone. In terms of what we got: two veggie sandwiches, one with tots and the other with slaw. Two sides of corn, some brisket and sausage (for the other people coming over for lunch). In terms of what we had, I thought that the veggie sandwiches were well composed. Nice bread, crispy eggplant (a tough order, literally sometimes), and a good amount of toppings. Tots were also good and well seasoned. For future orders, I'd probably go light on the aioli. Didn't eat the brisket but our guests said it was good but had to use the included side sauce as it was on the drier side (the sauce was included so I'm guessing they don't dress it as a preference). Personally, the Mexican corn just tasted like corn. We we expecting more street corn style, so probably wouldn't get it again. Prices were fare considering the quality and quantity. Not sure if there are more veggie options, but we'll probably stop by again. read more

We ordered the Huli Huli Chicken and Three Pigs Sandwich with the Mac n cheese, potato mac salad, cornbread, and brussels. All of the food was pretty good, even if heavily seasoned in areas (and I like some seasoning and salt). I would order the sandwich and brussels again and maybe the mac n cheese. I had issues with the seasoning on the brussels, just too heavy on the seasoning but the texture was melt in your mouth and was not bitter at all. The huli huli chicken had some great flavor and sweetness but it was entirely a southerners take. There wasn't enough char or sweetness, and too much smoke. I prefer my Hulu Hulu chicken as boneless chicken thighs on the grill with some bitterness from the char and sweetness from the pineapple, soy, and brown sugar but was perfectly tender. This may have been our mistake on the interpretation and expectation but wasn't included in my rating (if it was would've been a 3-3.5). The service was great and everyone was helpful. I do wish this concept would be a fast casual concept instead of sit down given it's a bbq joint. We went for dinner so I'm not sure if lunch is different. This was our first sit down inside seating meal over 8 days in HI and didn't think it would be at a BBQ joint. Overall there is room for improvement but still tons of underlying flavor and great service. read more

Still a great spot, but wanted to add some additional commentary. My little friend had a birthday this week, so wanted to take him to THE BEST BRUNCH EVER so we came around 11:45 on Sunday. While they don't take reservations or start a waitlist, we were shocked to get a table outside (I had my dog with me) just five minutes after arrival! The manager (?), a young guy with a man bun, was super helpful and actually suggested we get seated even though we wanted to take out and eat at the beach because brunch menu is ONLY TILL 12!!! The irony that we would be seated so quickly... The waitress informed us that even for take out we would have to have something ordered for the table. No biggie...we were clearly taking space. Tried the spinach artichoke dip which was good but we def needed more crisps to finish. We ended up waiting about 45 or so minutes for the food. While we were waiting, I also was conversing with the manager who was calling Over Easy, since I had put in an order for the 6" Que Cake a couple weeks before. Thank you for accommodating me on such short notice. It did take a couple calls and asking a number of staff about it - thankfully a call to Over Easy revealed it was ready. I ended up paying at Easy Que even though no one was quite sure whether that was the right thing to do or not. Drove up the street and picked it up curbside and the staff was super friendly and amazing and brought it out with forks and napkins. Went to the beach, little friend enjoyed his birthday meal, but we found that our side of brussels and rice never made it in the bag! We were so ready to leave I never even checked if it was charged - doing some math I think it was. Alas... Some suggestions Easy Que. Would love if: - Brunch was past 12!! - Other egg options for the Loco Moco, please? Amazzzzzzing food. And such a sweet staff. I sat outside and sometimes it's easy to forget people are out there. It's out of the way and there's really no view from inside. No big deal honestly, I wasn't in a rush and I was just enjoying the spectacular views of the nearby mountains. They felt so bad that they ended up comping one of my appetizers which was really sweet. And they had gotten them out so fast when I had ordered! They have a lot of unique bbq here. The sides I got were the Brussels sprouts and the Mac and cheese. Both were fantastic and I loved the flavor. They have 3 different bbq sauces that you can prepare yourself. Finally on the Windward side on a day when they're open (waiting years to try this place because Im only on the dark side on Mondays) I got to give this place a try and I wish I had sooner. No idea but they've figured it out. My friend orders burnt ends -she says "they might sell out". I say "that doesn't sound good." Im wrong - they're awesome. Smokey, fatty (not gross but juicy) and they dont need sauce at all. Then complimentary homemade pickles - sour and crunchy with some onion. Loved them!!!! I ordered shoe pork belly and biscuit with grilled cornbread, tater tots and Brussel sprouts. I don like Brussel sprouts but I downed these so fast - I couldn't stop eating them, they were so savory and delicious! Tator tots! How do you improve a tater tot??? I dont know but they did! The belly was crispy and soft and tender at the same time. The brisket was juicy and went really well with their amazing homemade BBQ sauce. We wanted the burnt ends and kalbi brisket, both sold out already, along with the cornbread. Our waitress told us if you do plan on going there, make a reservation and they will reserve those best sellers for you.
