10/10 the sauce SOO GOOD! Meat was so tender and juicy this was the best red meat I had while on the island- I had eaten poke for 2 days straight so I needed red meat protein. The Mac was ok, worth stopping by if you're in the area- you won't be dissatisfied.

When my sister moved to Kailua she told me about this little window in Oneawa market that serves bomb steak and noodles. You can imagine my skepticism but after trying it.... I need to tell you: GET THE KALBI $19.50 for 2 huge pieces of kalbi, rice and salad The steak noodles were also yummy and at $14.50. It's basically a fried saimin with thick bites of steak. They also have shrimp and chicken if you're not a fan of red meat. This place is amazing. It's the epitome of a hole in the wall as it's quite literally a window inside a liquor store (that part of the store actually appears to be closed off) . I guess this is its reincarnation. You can call in your order to minimize wait time and the aunty was on it, didn't even need to give our name or phone number, just knew we were the one with 5 plates and had em all right. It looks like it's still relatively under the radar. Check it out !!

If you don't know what to order here I highly recommend the GARLIC steak plate (10/10) over the regular steak plates. It's much flavorful!!!! #iykyk & if you don't... now you know

HIDDEN GEM ALERT! :D Steak Rave is definitely a classic hole in the wall style spot that absolutely delivers on the common idea of the best things come from the most unexpected places (this place is literally a liquor store/restaurant in one haha). I love their fried noodles so so ONO! I always get steak noodle at a minimum but I love to add chicken sometimes since it's also yum. Now the reaaal Razzle Dazzle is that SAUCE there's a few options in a basket next to where you order and get your meal, definitely love to douse my entire plate LOL and I also love the cracked black pepper it just does something to elevate the plate. Pro tip: grab you a drink before you order from the fridges and they will add it to your meals total so you don't have to go all the way into the store for a separate transaction. Also somethings to keep in mind is this is a takeout spot so there's not really any seating maybe like a chair or two at times but expect to grab and go, parking can also be a headache since it's very limited but if your patient you'll find something and it's totally worth it. Thanks Steak rave & Key for consistently showing up serving and bringing delicious grubs to the community/island! I know people that joke about coming back to the island for this kine plate lunch! LOL LOVE IT.

Hole-in-the wall spot...When we arrived, I was pretty skeptical since it was located inside a convenience store. We heard about this spot from locals in the area raving about it. Affordable spot in Kailua if you're looking for simple plate lunch style. I would give it a rating of 3.5/5. We ordered the popular items: ($12.95) Steak and Noodles -the steak was good but nothing super special...however the noodles were good! Noodles had fish cake and spam in it. You definitely want to squeeze some of the bottled Korean sauce on your food before you leave (located at the front of counter where you pay). You'll see all the customers drenching it all over their plates. ($18.95) Haleiwa Special Mix (Kalbi, Chicken, Pork) with rice and salad. -Kalbi had decent flavor, however was a bit on the chewy side. Chicken and Pork were okay. Salad came with the choice of thousand island or ranch dressing. I heard another customer substitute for more rice if you're not a salad person. Takeout only - no seating. To the left is the food order station where you can order food. To the right is where you can go grab drinks or any snacks. Food took about 15-20 minutes during dinner time on a Sunday. It seems like a popular spot to call in your order so it'll be ready. Also from the looks of it, doesn't look the most sanitary in the kitchen area. Cash only - they do have an ATM inside but charges fees. Convenient if you need cash. Parking lot is small and can only fit a few cars. There's a few metered parking spots across the street too.

Hungry for that surf & turf Kine of combo over noodles! I can see why the locals RAVE about the Steak & noodles here! The steak is a good cut of lean sirloin, cooked medium well and no gristle. I added 4 grilled shrimp that were small but very well flavored. A nice sized plate of food for around $17.50. The noodles are delicious made fresh stir fried with an infusion of tiny slices of spam, artificial crab & onions. Service was friendly and there is a slight wait with each order cooked fresh, steak is hand cut into bite sized strips. Ambiance of a market setting. There is no place to eat in. This is strictly a to go walk in and out. The market has a variety of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. Plenty of assorted vape accessories and da Kine snacks. The manic happens behind the small counter where they have a hideaway kitchen and grill for the epic to go plates. Three parking slots outside the main entrance on a busy corner makes finding a slot to park kind of like the lottery. There's always street meter parking or you can use the goodwill and Hardware Hawaii lot just across the street. I hit the lotto today gaining the cherished parking slot that is in the front of the entrance. Next time I will call ahead to avoid the 5-10 minute wait for my order. Definitely a delicious and satisfying combo! I'll be back! Four Fabulous Stars for Flavor, Value, Convenience and Quality food that satisfies!

The menu has something for everyone, and the prices are surprisingly affordable. For some reason, I've always thought the takeout felt a little expensive, but dining in makes everything seem much more reasonably priced. Maybe it's just a mind trick! One thing I always appreciate is the service. The staff is consistently friendly, and I especially love that you're often greeted by a local aunty. It gives the restaurant a welcoming, hometown feel that makes the experience even better. My go-to order is usually the Korean Fried Chicken, which never disappoints. But on my most recent visit, a friend convinced me to try his all-time favorite: the spaghetti with chili. I had never even considered putting chili on pasta before, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. It was absolutely delicious and easily one of the biggest surprises I've had at a restaurant. If you're stopping by Zippy's, don't be afraid to order something outside your comfort zone. The spaghetti with chili is an underrated gem that's definitely worth trying. Between the friendly service, generous portions, and local comfort food, it's easy to see why Zippy's has been a favorite in Hawaii for generations.

I noticed a while ago that they introduced one called firecracker karaage chicken, so that was what I ordered for lunch. I typically use the app for speed and convenience. Just a few clicks, and I was on my way. They usually send a text message when the order is ready, but I didn't get one so I just drove up to the drive-thru, rand the buzzer, and "wallah", my order was ready. The taste and texture wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I would consider karaage, or "firecracker", either. The description in the app said "boneless fried chicken mixed with housemade sauce... topped with spicy mayo sauce". Well, I'll admit, that describes it, but it's just not karaage, and the sauce wasn't that spicy. It tasted like their Korean fried chicken topped with buffalo sauce mixed with mayo. I was expecting the chicken to be "lighter", since traditional karaage doesn't use a batter, and perhaps more of a Sriracha style spicy sauce. Like I said, not bad, just not spicy karaage. The service is always fast and the food and value is good, so I'll keep trying anything new... and hoping.

Obviously, if it's really busy with a line of cars, you'd expect a little wait, but tonight was maddening. I placed my order (Junior Jumbo Jack, 2 tacos, and onion rings) thru the Jack app at 8:01pm, with a scheduled pickup time of 8:12pm; pretty normal. I live less than a mile away, so normally take my time to drive down and will get there in less than 10 minutes. Tonight, however, I got to the drive thru at 8:10pm and gave them my name. There were only 2 cars in front of me. It took 20 minutes for them to process the 2 cars and it was 8:30 when I pulled up to the window. There was only 1 employee working the front; servicing both the inside counter and the drive thru, with 1 other person in the kitchen. They were obviously, very shorthanded, but the person behind the counter appeared to have only 2 speeds; slow, and overwhelmed. It took her almost 10 minutes before she even came to the window because she was serving another customer at the inside counter. By the time I received my food, it was 8:42 (over 30 minutes from the time I got to the drive thru, and the originally scheduled pickup time). I actually called the number for the District Manager that was displayed on the sign at the window, but got a recorded message, and then hung up on. What the heck is going on with Jack's??
