Recently, I went to order takeout at East Café. I had not eaten at this restaurant for many many years. As I walked into the restaurant I noticed the restaurant was under new ownership. I ordered from the lunch section, which is typically less expensive than ordering from the dinner options. I ordered egg, foo young. The employee repeated my order, but then she changed my card for the dinner egg foo young. When I bought this to her attention, she lied, and said she accidentally rang the dinner entrée. I asked her to refund my card for the difference in price. To make matters worse when I got home and opened the container the presentation was not at all appetizing. After two bites I threw all the food down the garbage disposal. The food was so..... horrible and disgusting! Also the quality was very bad. I will never go to this restaurant again. read more

We went here since it was close to our house and also because of other positive reviews on Yelp. There were plenty of parking spaces as it was situated in a shopping plaza. The decor was nice with Chinese prints on the walls. The place was clean and comfortable with several rooms for seating. Despite several customers, the place was quiet. The staff were friendly and quick to serve us. We chose the beef and vegetables platter that included rice and vegetables. The prices were reasonable. The food temp could have been warmer though. I am a regular customer and have been so disappointed lately. The take out hot mustard cup looks pressed with hardly any mustard and the inside of the cup all smeared with what seems old mustard. Looks disgusting! Egg rolls are getting smaller and smaller and more greasy! I called and was told that I needed to pay more if I want more mustard! 12/9/25-Used to eat here all the time pre-covid, but this was our first time back. The service was fast. The food on the other hand had dropped. I ordered the Imperial Chicken and my mom got the Imperial Shrimp. We used to compare all Imperial sauces to this place because how good it used to be. The sauce this time was bland and the food over all was dry because they did not give you enough sauce. Also at dinner they now only have huge bowls of soup instead of just a cup. The small bowl is around $10. They should have had just a cup option for around $3 for people who want it as an appetizer instead of a meal. Was so disappointed in how far this place has fallen, that I probably won't be going back or at least not again for many years if they manage to stay open with their quality falling. I got general tsos and the first bit was decent but after the second bite it was nothing to rave about. Ok to finish my meal but not good enough to take home any leftovers or to come back. Surprisingly, I enjoyed my meal t this restaurant. First impression was that it felt very authentic and cozy. Loudness of the restaurant was medium due to multiple parties talking at the same time but nothing too loud. Service was great. As soon as I arrived I was seated within seconds. I was then asked if I would like anything to drink and served water within the next 10 seconds by a second worker. The lady gave me approximately 5 minutes or less to decide on what to eat before coming to take my order. The soup came out first and it was hot. I loved the overall flavor because it was neither too hot nor too sour. Just the perfect balance. The entree came out within 5-10 minutes afterwards and it was also piping hot. I started off with the egg roll. It wasn't extremely hot but still delicious. The entree itself was tasty as well since it was a good balance of meat and plenty of vegetables. I would love to come back here again and try their egg drop soup and other entrees as well. Years back, we used to frequent this place. It was sooo good. I just heard they got new owners a few years back and is bad, but i wanted to try for myself. And i was in the area. With every bite... all I could taste was soap. Everything tasted like soap... ‍. I started to feel sick, so halfway through, i stopped. Yes, i kept eating it because i hate wasting food... i was not in the mood to complain and was on a time crunch. I did take the rest to go... just to see if it's the food or the plating/utensils.... What a fantastic restaurant. I went here twice with my mother-in-law and my husband. Both times it was phenomenal. I tried both the lemon chicken, the pork fried rice, and the chow mein. This is our go to when the family travels from Ft Collins for a family gathering. The staff and restaurant is very family friendly. Heck they have lots of patience especially with our crew. Ha. Three toddlers boys and a baby boy. I love how they have lunch portions until 4pm thank god. I hate to see their dinner portions. As it is we have to box it up for a later meal. They had a table set up at the entrance to ensure that you didn't have to make your way inside to grab your order. ++ Portion size was large and offered a little bit of everything. Great for someone like me who likes to try it all! ++ There's plenty of options on the lunch menu so you don't have to worry about not finding something you want. +/- I feel that my meal was lacking something in the flavor department. My mom recently had surgery and the only thing she wanted was some of your Combo pan fried noodles! They were perfect, even ordering them to go. Everything was delicious, hot, fresh, and great portion size! We got the cheese wontons, wonton and egg drop soup, and the pan fried noodles were large enough for us to share! We had hot tea and he had a Sapporo beer. They served us the appetizer wontons first - with sweet and sour sauce and spicy mustard. His Mongolian beef came soon after and a huge serving of white rice. She brought us two plates so we could share. I continued eating the wontons as that was my dinner. But I did put some rice and beef on my plate to try it. The wontons were nice and crispy but not overly fried. The pork soft and tasty. I love the hot mustard and the fiery heat going through my sinuses. He liked them too and ate more than he thought he would. He preferred the sweet and sour sauce. The Mongolian beef was on point that night. Soft and tender, well seasoned. Accompanied by the rice it was delicious. The rice was well cooked and fresh. Warm and fragrant. We had a wonderful meal. The server was so nice and checked on us often. She brought us our fortune cookies with the bill. The meal was inexpensive and affordable. Neighborhood Chinese restaurant that has been in this community for over 20 to 30 years. Many of the other diners near me were talking about how they have been coming here for decades. This Chinese restaurant is conveniently located in the Village Green Plaza shopping center where the King Soopers is at Chambers and Mississippi. It is also close to the Taco Bell and KFC drive-through. There is lots of parking in the exterior of the restaurant. As I was being sat there were lots of takeout orders being picked up because it was such a rainy day. I sat in one of the many booths. I quickly ordered the cream cheese wontons and egg rolls appetizer, combination lo mein, sesame chicken, rice and a hot and sour soup to go for my other half. The dining in service was very friendly and very attentive. Every time my water was half full the server would come fill it back up. My food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Everything was delicious and perfectly seasoned. This is not my favorite Chinese restaurant in this neighborhood, but it is a great grab and go, convenient and consistent restaurant. In past years I have hosted community events for large groups in the space. They also have a group dining options on the menu where you can get an soup/salad, an entrée, an appetizer for $20 a person with a minimum of two diners. The restaurant also has some lunch special deals. I sometimes confuse the name of this restaurant with another one off of Center Tech. Being generous with a 3 star as this place is full of nostalgia. The food is decent and prepared quickly, a family favorite location. However, this last visit just might be my last. I placed a to-go order for 3 full meals and some appetizers, close to $100. I get home and they have combined rices so I have one large and small box. However, the portions are off and there is no way I would pay that for less than a half a cup of rice for my guests. Thank goodness I have a rice maker. I got take-out for the 1st time a few days ago. It was the WORST Chinese food I've ever had. I spent alot of money on my order and ended up throwing all of my food in the trash. The rice not sticky but mushy. The food had NO flavor whatsoever. Every dish just tasted bad. It appeared to me as though East Cafe is cutting corners to keep their costs down, which I understand; but they should to taste the food once in a while before they put it out to the public, maybe cut 1 or 2 fewer corners. Now that I live in Los Angeles, I have discovered authentic Chinese food and it's very different from the Americanized Panda Express type of "Chinese" food that most Americans call Chinese food. That being said East Cafe does a great job with the Americanized version of Chinese food that they serve. No bad on East Cafe. 99% of the Denver area Chinese restaurants probably serve the Americanized version as well. There is plenty of easy parking available in the shopping center they share with King Soopers and a few others. The seating is plentiful and there's a nice waiting area. I was there for a late lunch and seating was plentiful but locals tell me it gets pretty busy, so I guess that's where the nice waiting area kicks in! All the lunch menu items were well under $10. They come with a choice of soup or salad, an egg roll and small piece of chicken, the main course, tea, and a fortune cookie. I had the cashew chicken $6.25 on the lunch menu. It was ok, a little salty but not bad. No noticeable evidence of cashews, but for the price I was OK with it. You get a good sized serving along with plenty of fried or steamed rice. The service was terrific. They give you your own pot of tea and they keep the water glasses filled. If you're looking for some decent food at a very low price Far East does what they do in an A-OK way! read more

Not so much anymore, It's sad how much it has changed. The food is always consistent and delicious. Who would have ever though my favorite salad dressing would be at a Chinese restaurant? Order the Cafe Chicken Salad. This is a BIG salad. More then enough to share with your entire table and a full meal for those of us brave enough to attempt it alone. I have only finished it myself a few times. The portions are ample and lunch comes with soup or appetizer plate. This is usually a chicken wing and an eggroll. Also they give you a small plate with the chicken salad as well. I have visited East Cafe on many occasions and it holds some very special memories for me and some of my friends. It's also become a favorite of out of town visiting guests as well. They do not deliver. I think I was told once they have been there for 25 years+. The place could use a good sprucing up but it does add to it's charm. My favorite go-to staples are the Lemon Chicken and Hot & Sour Soup. East Café is known for the Lemon Chicken, and instead of saying it's the best in town, I'm not from Aurora, so I'll have to say it's the best state-wide! The ratio of breading to sauce is just perfect. And the thickness, sweetness and color of the sauce is also a great balance. The Hot & Sour Soup is good because there hasn't been any other places where I've had shrimp in a Hot & Sour Soup. If you like fried rice, I strongly recommend the Salmon Fried Rice, it isn't very common and it's a hit. If on the day I think it's too salty, I'll just ask for a little white rice and mix the two together and it's delicious! On my most recent visit, I was introduced to the Beef Skewer appetizer. Woah, we were blown away as to how substantial, or "beefy" it was. It reminds me of Chinese style beef jerky, still juicy and tasty and a hint of pink. YUM. I'm not sure if vegetarians would love this place though, because the vegetable dishes we've tried are pretty lackluster. But it doesn't matter so much, we just won't order all veggie dishes! The best part of East Café is its FAST service and very affordable prices. I wish there are more such Americanized Chinese cafes on my side of town. read more

Outstanding service! Ambience was good. Dumplings: ordinary, nothing special. No flavor. The dipping sauce didn't have hot pepper oil nor was there any at the table to add, which is unusual in my vast experience of Chinese restaurants. The hot and sour soup was very good, and the "small" bowl was like an entire meal, big enough for two people, really, so I didn't order an entree. I'll be back, to give this place a second chance to prove itself by ordering an entree, but the odd thing was, that the wait staff said the dishes marked "spicy" on the menu didn't have a "mild-spicy" option. The spiciness only comes in one strength, which they said was "very spicy". Well that would narrow down the menu considerably, so I'll try one "spicy" dish next time anyway, for the sake of a review. read more

I ordered Egg Fooyung and I got some big looking biscuit thing that was hard and did not look like any type of egg I've ever seen. That is not what egg Fooyung should look like. The gravy was also very runny like soup. I was not pleased, very unsatisfied and I asked for my money back or for them to give me something else in replace for the Fooyung. The lady was very rude and disrespectful they would not substitute or give me my money back. all the lady could say was "we've been doing it this way for 35 years and never had a complaint"They clearly do not have any good customer service and this is by far unacceptable especially because I'm a regular customer. This was our family's favorite Chinese food for years. The food is not the same. They had the best lo mein and sesame chicken in all of Colorado. Now not so much. The sesame chicken was the worst I have ever ate. Lo mein had no flavor. Less food and tasteless! The food taste like $1 scoop. Staff is not friendly and I got the wrong food served to me.
