On Thursday, our toilets stopped flushing and effluence backed up into our bathtubs. We suspected the septic tank was full. Friday morning, my husband called every septic service within range, but the soonest any of them could come out was Monday. We are a household of four including a teenager and my elderly mother - the situation was urgent. One of the septic services recommended Earl's plumbing so we called, and were told the technician would come out that afternoon. The technician, Steve, arrived at 4:30 pm. It was beginning to get dark so my husband and I helped dig up the tanks. Once Steve had the lids off, he was able to rule out fullness or leach line issues. He said there was most likely a clog in the pipe from our house to the tank. He drained most of the solid waste tank, but his truck did not have the capacity for all 1,200 gallons (he came straight to our house instead of dumping first due to the lateness). He tried, in vain, to arrange for one of their plumbers to come out that night to clear the drain. Unfortunately, none was available. He clearly understood the urgency of our situation and so, even though it was dark and well past the end of his day, he made a valiant effort to clear the drain using a garden hose. At one point, he was hanging halfway into the tank with one of our neighbors holding his feet so he wouldn't fall in. We had flashlights and a spot light set up so he could see what he was doing. He was not able to clear the drain, but he arranged for a plumber to come out in the morning. He told us he was off on the weekend, but would return Monday morning to finish draining the tanks. We spent the night in a house that smelled like a sewer; unable to use toilets, sinks, or showers. The plumber arrived at 7:00 am Saturday morning. To our surprise, Steve was right behind him. He told us our job had been pushed back to Wednesday (the day before Thanksgiving). He didn't feel good about the change and so decided to come in on his day off to finish the job. While they were getting the tank lids off, I noticed the brown liquid in the bath tubs had drained out. Steve asked me to try flushing the toilets. They flushed. Steve explained that sometimes soft clogs will clear on their own once the tank is drained. We are sure Steve's efforts with the hose helped, too. He finish draining the tanks and quickly wrapped up the job. There was no charge for the plumber even though he stayed for an hour. Steve provided service above and beyond the call of duty. He was friendly, professional, efficient, and caring. We were thoroughly impressed with the company (especially Steve). read more

The home I rent, sits on a lot that has an orchard that has just been sold and I'm just buying my time before they tell me I need to move so they can bulldoze this place and put in more orchard. The house is very, very old and it needs a complete remodel. Unfortunately the plumbing was starting to act up and I had been buying my time. The drains started draining very slow until finally it started backing up in the bathtub. That's when I knew I had to call another plumbing company to see if there was anything they could do inexpensively due to fix my situation. I had seen Earl's Plumbing trucks in the Red Bluff area but I had never dealt with them, so I gave them a call, I figured they couldn't take advantage of me anymore then the other company had, that I did leave a very bad review for. They were able to come out the next day, I told Paul the situation and that I didn't want to spend anymore money than I had to because I was just buying my time until I have to move. Paul was a very nice, polite man and told me he would see what he could do. He told me what the complications could be but since I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money he said he suggested snaking it first and if that didn't work then it would be something more serious and costly. I gave him the O.K. to snake it and thank goodness it worked. Just a little over $200 which I believe to be cheaper than most, and I have a little more time bought before I have to find a new place. It was a bonus that Paul and I have both grown up here in RB and so we had a few things in common, but he was just a very nice man that did his job like a professional. read more

Yesterday we had Earl's out for our annual routine maintenance, and they found we had a small leak due to our old, horrible plumbing underneath the kitchen sink. When the guy went to fix it, it caused an additional, worse leak in the plumbing that he hadn't replaced. Unfortunately, the technician we had was new and between being on his phone and his lack of experience, did not test the water flow after the fix so we didn't realize our leak was worse until we ran the dishwasher and ended up with a river on our floor that night. We immediately called Earl's Performance Plumbing back to let them know about the problem, and a different tech, Kenny, called us to walk us through turning off the water flow to stop the leak until they could get another tech out this morning. Jesse arrived promptly and took a look at the problem. He explained that they would not normally fix the current issue we had because the work order we had signed the day before said additional problems that arise after they do the work due to shoddy original plumbing was not covered by their work guarantee. Even with that, he understood that we were in a rough spot and that our tech the day before had not double-checked his work, so he replaced a piece of piping to give us a temporary fix until we can afford to replace the rest of the old plumbing. All in all, Earl's worked to try and help us stop a problem they found, and Jesse gave us a fix when an additional problem arose for free. Definitely a good company, and overall good customer service. We usually have nothing but good things to say about their guys that come to help us out. read more

I don't typically write reviews, but Earl's Plumbing far surpassed my expectations in many ways. I needed help with a significant plumbing job replacing a sewage line that continued to have issues after purchasing a home less than a year ago. I had another company look at this and was told there were roots causing a back up. I was told the line would need to be replaced. It took over five weeks of me calling to get someone back out to provide an estimate. When they did come out it was only a verbal quote. I never called to cancel this, but to this day I have not heard back from them. I say all that because Earl's plumbing was able to come out provide an estimate in writing the same day also found additional issues with the sewer line the other company didn't and with an estimate thousands of dollars less than other place. The technician, Ryan, began working on this project about a week later. The initial timeframe for the job was supposed to be a day. It ended up taking four days total due to unexpected complications with the house. When all was said and done there was no discussion about increasing the cost even though the job ended up being bigger and much more labor intensive than we had initially thought. I was only charged what the initial quote was. Also, across the board everyone I interacted with at Earl's was very professional and friendly. This company has really good customer service. It really stands out in a sea of indifference. I highly recommend Earl's to anyone needing a large plumbing job. I will use their service again. read more

Earl's was the 3rd plumbing company to be called to address our problems. The first two companies attempted but once they took a look under the house, they ran off. We were very fortunate to have Earl's send out Jesse. He braved a spider infestation, sewage that had drained under the house due to rusted out drainage, 100 degree weather...all with a smile on his face. We had originally called about a possible leak due to higher than normal water utility bills. Turned out that a leak was the least of our problems. The old metal drainage system had rusted out and had been draining under the house for months. Being in a house with the family and kids, Earl's jumped on the job quickly and a repaired it just as fast. Repaired plumbing, check. Treatment of the sewage under the house, check. Replacement of old an inefficient fixtures, check. Identified areas of possible concern in the future, check. Jesse really took the time to explain exactly what was going on, what needed to be addressed versus what could wait, worked around our schedule, and was really great with the kids. Service and professionalism of Earl's, especially Jesse, was phenomenal. No doubt we will be using Earl's Performance Plumbing for our service needs. I just wanted people to know how happy we were with Earl's Plumbing and especially Jesse Skidmore, the plumbing tech. Jesse came to our door with a door hanger for a $20 discount. I had been meaning to call a plumber to fix a leak and get a bid on replacing our kitchen sink. His timing was perfect. Jesse pointed out some other things that needed to be fixed while he was in our home. We had not planned on doing all the repair work at once but knew that it needed to be done at some point. Because of Jesse's easy, laid back attitude combined with his obvious professionalism, we decided to get the work done instead of waiting. He replaced a toilet, fixed the leak, changed out a faucet. I ordered the parts for the sink replacement and we made plans for him to install it. We're going to replace an additional toilet in the other bathroom because we like our new one so much. I enjoyed chatting with Jesse while he worked. He's very friendly and I would highly recommend him to any one. I was planning on doing the work myself, but luckily Jesse showed up. I noticed water standing on the cement pad in my carport. Never in a million years would I think of a water line running under the cement pad of a carport! I call Earl's and explained my dilemma. Ryan W. came out, explained what he thought it was, the work needed to resolve the issue and gave me an estimate on cost. A technician came out with equipment to detect where the underground leak was coming from (he was within inches). Together he and Ryan broke up the cement and dug down about 4' in dirt/mud and found the leak was caused from someone coupling PVC to metal. Duh! This was a job nightmares are made of. But Ryan and his crew fixed it, cleaned up after, hauled all debris away, gave me a guarantee on their work and left this customer happy. It was a nasty job, but not once did they grumble or try to take any short cuts. Ryan W. deserves high praise for representing Earl's Plumbing with such excellent customer service, commendable work ethic, and treating his crew with care and respect. Couldn't get the pilot light to stay on the hot water heater Saturday morning and called Earl's and got the answering service. Expected this to take until Monday. To my surprise I was called back by Scott S. within 10 minutes. Since he was in Cottonwood and I lived in Oroville I again expected a long wait. He arrived in 2 hours and assessed the problem which I thought was the thermocouple. Not only that but the gas regulator was shot also. Considering the hot water heater was over 15 years old, I decided to replace the entire system and go tankless. He temporarily fixed my existing hot water heater and didn't charge me. At the time the Wall Fire was on the horizon. He was on his way to install the tankless on Sunday, but we were under a fire evacuation order and he couldn't make it to my house. He called and apologized several times. Once the evacuation order was lifted on Sunday night, Scott was at my house Monday at 8am. We are extremely fortunate to get Scott as our technician. read more

One of the best experiences I have had working with a young person while trying to help my elderly parents. Kyle T. is the man! He showed so much respect to my folks while educating them on all of their fixtures and particularly the ones that they were concerned about. My parents disposal wasn't working and they had a problem with a fixture in the back bathroom. Kyle addressed answers loudly and directly to my parents, something I notice that most young people don't do these days with older folks. Thank you Kyle, for restoring their dignity. Kyle spent a great amount of time with the three of us and we feel that we have a handle on all things plumbing at my folks house. We will be calling on Earl's plumbing again and we told Kyle that he is our "plumber" going forward and even started a file with his name on it! He was very knowledgeable and clearly loves his job. We needed help with a toilet that was clogged by a child's toy. We called Earl's and two young men came to our aide. After consultation with Mike and Travis, we decided to replace the toilet and went on to replace our water heater, three faucets, two sinks, and do some repairs on the outside water lines. None of the work they performed was absolutely needed except for the toilet needing to be replaced. However, it was clear that we were better off having the work done now rather than wait for a problem to become worse. The guys were informative, knowledgeable, honest, and timely. The work looks good and all is working well. Having a lifetime warranty on the water heater and the faucets that were replaced helped to make the decision easier and gives us some degree of security that we will avoid future costs should problems arise with any of these items. My tankless water system had not been working correctly since we moved in 2 years ago. The burner flame would go out in the middle of the shower causing the water to go cold. We called several different plumbers out to attempt to fix the problem and were about to put in an old school tank system because we were just too frustrated with no one being able to figure it out. Finally, Matt R from Earl's came out and took the time to do a bunch of research and talk to others that he works with. They called Noritz and learned that there was a history on our system dating back before we bought our house. Long story short, they were able to warranty a few parts out and now our system is working perfectly. Both techs that came out to our house were knowledgeable, professional and really took their time to work the problem. I just wanted to take a minute to tell you all about my experience with Earl's Plumbing. I had a leak under my house with some water coming from a wall slowly puddling I had no idea where it was coming from. I thought it was from the water line from behind the refrigerator but it was dry behind there. The service man Jason came out with in 12 hrs from when I called. He was very professional and super nice to talk to. He listened to all I said and didn't make me feel stupid due to my lack of plumbing knowledge. With in a matter of moments he found the leak and it was from my A/C unit in the washroom. He was quick to fix it and kept the work space clean and tidy. LOL He even wore some disposable slip on cover you might see in a hospital to prevent his shoes from dirtying up my floor. Very thoughtful and a pleasure to work with. We did a remodel and we had the worst luck with plumbers. No-shows, breaking sinks, outrageous bids, etc. All our friends knew about our bad luck with plumbers and text us a picture of a funny ad they got in the mail from Earls so we gave them a call. Jason was able to come by on our first available day (a Friday) and gave us a quote for $985. What he didn't know is we had gotten a quote for $950 and that guy broke 2 sinks, left for lunch and never came back. We had another quote for $990 and that guy never showed up. Then we had a quote for $2650, which we politely declined. These were all "licensed" guys we found online and arrived in a professional vehicle. Jason is a rock-star plumber. He was professional, courteous and went out of his way to get the job done. Scott came to our house within a hour of our initial call about an issue with our hot water. He was professional, polite, and diagnosed the problem correctly almost immediately. He gave me a very reasonable quote and told me he would return with help later in the day to do the job. He returned a few hours later and fixed a major leak under the concrete. Scott and his co-worker, Trevor, completed the job in the time estimated, left the job site clean and better than when they got there, and exceeded our expectations. Our hot water is fixed, there is no leak, and they even came in at $250 under their estimate! The Earl's Plumbing Technician (Brian) responded to my call in less than an hour and I had a home visit and quote on the same day. I needed to have my sprinkler irrigation system checked because there was no pressure. I was given several solutions to choose from and opted to have the entire 14 year old valve system replaced. The technician arrived on time and worked in the pouring rain digging up my old sprinkler valves. I know that he worked many extra hours and honored his original quote. After the work was finished he came back on the 2nd day and checked every single sprinkler and drip emitter to make sure they were all working. My wooden water heater stand was starting to cave in and the heater was starting to tilt noticeably. I called Earl's Plumbing and spoke to a friendly representative who took my information and was able to send someone out within a couple of hours. They sent Scott Simmons out to take a look and give me a free estimate. He was friendly and courteous, was able to get a new metal stand the same day, and gave me a fair price, so I agreed to go ahead and get the job done. He got the part, got everything hooked up again, and gave me good information about what else to expect with the heater and other options for my home. Brian arrived at the house at the time I was told he would be there. I explained what needed done and he didn't have any problems assessing the situation. The only problem he had was trying to get the water turned off. Of the 3 valves able to turn the water off, 2 were stuck open. Once we found the proper one to shut the water off, he began working. I had asked him to replace a faucet and clear a drain line. He finished in good time and everything was working again. Brian had shown me the price before he started work and I paid the quoted price. The pilot light on my hot water heater went out on a Friday and would not restarted. I called Earl's and had a very friendly lady named Courtney schedule an appointment for Monday afternoon. Before the end of the day they called me back to let me know they had a cancellation and could see me the same day. The technician Jeff was there within 15 minutes to take a look at the situation. He gave me a few options and suggestions for fixes based on what we found. He started with the cheapest fix and luckily it fixed the issue with the pilot light. Had an emergency plumbing situation that occurred just after my husband left on a business trip for 2 weeks. Called Earl's Performance Plumbing and they sent Ryan to evaluate and do the work. I was astounded at the quality of service. Not only is Ryan very knowledgeable, but he is also very helpful and courteous, going beyond line of duty. My plumbing problem proved to be a very serious one and Ryan solved it very efficiently. He worked so hard for 3 days in a row (one day he kept working from 10 am to 10 pm with barely any break at all; almost worried me that he overdid himself).
