Valve in hot water handle of shower broke. Called Earl's for a quote, they said they would send someone out to look, I confirmed I just wanted a quote at this point and don't want any work to proceed without a quote and they agreed. They ended up going and buying the parts and were ready to charge $350 at the lowest to switch the valve and quoted me over $1k to replace the shower unit. I did not agree to the quote before the tech decided to buy the part anyway and when I offered to just reimburse them for the part he said that's not how it works and I usually have to pay for the whole service. I begrudgingly agreed but then it turned out the part did not fit. Tech said it was too old and they don't make the part anymore and we'd have to replace the whole unit which we'd look at a minimum of $1k. Luckily my husband reminded me of our home warranty and we had one of their contractors come out from Atlas plumbing. He fixed it and an extra problem in 20 minutes and said we were way overcharged by the other plumber and they were scamming us. Tech was nice but the fact that he couldn't find the part indicated he was not very experienced. Disappointed with the whole encounter. read more

Paul the technician came and checked out the clogged drain and clearly explained everything and what he was going to do to unclog the drain. Honestly was not out to gouge higher prices. Bought a 9 month company check up plan. That included this day's services too. Definitely will recommend Earls plumbing. read more

Ridiculously priced! I called them to have the flange under my toilet replaced. The guy came and looked at it and told me it would take roughly 20 minutes. He gave me a quote of $534. When I asked "Why are you charging me over $500 for 20 minutes worth of work?" his response was "It's going to take longer than 20 minutes because I have to go get the part." The part sells at Lowe's for $15 and is 10 minutes away. I said I would go get the part if your knock off $300. He declined. Another company is doing the work for over 60% cheaper. This is a simple job guys. You can't be gouging peoples wallets like that. read more

I usually don't leave reviews either bad or good. But I have to leave one this time so hard working people don't get taken. Technician Matt came out to look at electric water heater on 3/7. He diagnosed an electrical issue that he fixed. I was very satisfied with Matt. A week later it was not working again. I called back and Earls sent Technician Robert Chase Rife out on 3/14. He did not even diagnose water heater. He said it was "too old for him to work on and he would not touch it". My wife said he was there less than 5 minutes. He left an estimate for $2,200 for new water heater. I called another company to look at it. The heater did not have any power to it. Easy fix for $175. According to Robert Chase Rife I needed a new water heater for $2,200. Don't be taken advantage of by Earls or this technician. So disappointed. One technician can lose a customer for life. read more

Hi a plumber named Ryan came to give an in home estimate a few days ago. He verballed harrassed my partner, causing a siezure. He then blocked me physically after getting to close to me and would not exit the house. My partner fell on the front steps, as a result of the siezure, while I was asking the plumber multiple times to leave. When the plumber left I ran through the house to the front and found him injured on the front porch. The plumber saw me holding his hurt head, yet drove away without asking if he was hurt or needed help. The manager Donny refuses to recognize that this even happened. It did happen. read more

this place is a joke. i had them make repairs to my well. first the clown that did the work installed the wrong pump which had to be removed then a proper pump installed. i have had constant leakes since. very poor plumbing.i am extremely sorry i made the mistake of calling them. i also think i was over charged.the person that made the repairs thought it was funny he installed tke wrong pump.. i was not sure he knew what he was doing. i had to endure an additional day with out water and i think i had to pay for the additioal time spent installing the proper pump. i have since had constant leaks in my well house because of his inadequate plumging skills. call anyone but earls plumbing read more

Run away, especially if you are an old, single woman. I have been ripped off by this company three times now. They started out with a very helpful, very reasonable priced repair on my jacuzzi bathtub. I think that is how they hook us. They then sold me a VERY expensive and totally worthless Nuvo filter system. When I asked them to check on that since my water quality is MUCH worse, they tried to upgrade me to an even more expensive water softer (while the technician admitted almost no one likes the Nuvo system). It went from that to a very expensive water heater. Their tactic, at least with us stupid old women, is to convince us if we do not do the expensive repairs right now, we will have very big and unmanageable costs in the future. This week, I call again to check on costs for septic pumping, telling them the last company that was here told me I would never have to pump it again in my lifetime. I am told "free estimate". The guy shows up and tells me $200, but gives me the impression it will be deducted from my bill if it needs pumping. I tell him do not leave the gates open. He leaves them open and my dog runs off. I am still crying, looking for my dog when he tells me it will be $1350. I am too distraught to argue so write a check, just grateful that I found my dog. I tell the guy please make sure the gates are closed. "Yeah, of course". Fortunately, I checked before I let her out of the house and found the back gate barely closed and not latched, side gate wide open. People are telling me I was grossly over charged for services I probably did not need-but I am a 67 year old single woman terrified of huge repair bills that will force me out of a home I love. I think this unethical company preys on people like me. Too late for me, but save yourselves!!! At least my dog is okay. They had the nerve to ask me to vote for them as "best plumber in Chico." read more

We recieved a quote from Earls to replace a water heater. This particular water heater requires ventilation. We were quoted with ventilation and proper install. They then stated they would not do ventilation, then did they would. They never did, but sent us a quote for another $1000 to place vents. Without proper install of vents, hot water heater will not work properly. We hired and paid for a professional, complete job. They never cleaned up after themselves, leaving boxes strung all over our patio. They left our side gate open, our dog could have gotten out, they removed our fire alarm and never put it back up, left everything they moved, did not put things back, and something broke out of their truck and they left the part and glass in our driveway. The men were nice, but the job was not completed and we will not use them again. We are very disappointed. read more

The crew was called out to fix a well filter but a series of unfortunate events that were just poorly timed to go off during their visit presented a bunch more problems for them and we were happy to have them on site. Travis is the guy you want. I had an ongoing issue with not getting hot water in my master bedroom. I had two weeks of scheduling technicians. Finally Travis came up with a solution. He showed up unexpectedly to help me. They said he would t be available till the next day. I was very happy to see him. I called because of a plugged sewer line. The dispatcher or person that answered the phone was very professional and set up the appointment quickly and efficiently. The communication was great. Following the phone call to set up the appointment, I received a text message verifying the appointment. I then received a phone call when the service man was able to respond earlier than scheduled. After confirming that the earlier time would work for me, I received another text message with the new information including a photo of the service tech. The service tech was friendly and polite. And clean! He was careful removing the toilet and took care to minimize the mess. He also fixed a leak that was discovered when the toilet was removed. The job was finished in a reasonable amount of time, and he also cleaned up the work area. In summary: On time, excellent communication, quality work, a bit pricey, but he had all the right tools and parts to fix the problem the first time. read more

It was a long complex process with the county, finding an engineer, tree removals - basically everything you could imagine and Devin was proactive every step of the way. My garbage disposal quit working. I called Earl's to.come and repair it. The guy came out, took an alan wrench and turned it a couple of times, unjammed the rotors. Did not take the unit apart, did not put in any new parts. Total time he worked on it was 5 minutes tops. Total cost $125. I have another project around my house that needs work. Would I call Earl's again? After that rip off job? Not in a million years. read more

You might pay a bit more than a competitor, but the job will be done right or they will make it right. Well I am not impressed, service guy came out promptly the day after I made a appointment. Was quoted $1020 to replace a shower valve. I thought at the time whatever, water is ruining my floor. He repaired the leaking valve and now I have less than half the water pressure out of that shower. And after speaking with other plumbers, I was told I was way overcharged. Just had a technician come out to the house because of a problem with our water heater. The tech first told us that the unit was probably 'shot' because of the age of the unit. I asked him how old he thought it was and he said it was stamped on it that it was manufactured in 2008. I told him the unit was installed in 2012. I asked where he came up with the 2008 date...he said 'It's stamped right on the unit', implying we were stupid or something. My wife went to double check...sure enough, it is stamped right on it: 'MFG Date 2012'. This guy was reading the serial number, not the manufacture date. When we pointed it out, he backtracked. At that point he said he would try and check the pilot light issues...why wouldn't you start with that??? I guess these guys try to go for the most expensive fix first. Anyways, he quoted us an INSANE price for a thermocouple replacement (OVER $250) but said there was no guarantee that was the issue! FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE AND THEN GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE!!! What is wrong with companies like this? Do they really think consumers are that stupid? read more

First of all, the plumber was very nice and professional. The problem was the up sell on everything. We needed a faucet put in our bathroom. The quote for that one faucet...$1500!!! Apparently it comes with a lifetime warranty. Not sure I need a $1500 faucet with a lifetime warranty. We also got a hard push to warranty all of our plumbing throughout the house. That is not why we called. I guess if you're looking to have all of your plumbing warrantied for life, these are the guys. read more

Sales heavy and skill light. Poor problem solving by their plumber. They quoted me 13,000 for a drain line replacement after I spent $1000 on snake, camera, and hydrojet. I called a second plumber and he had the problem fixed for $150 dollars in repairs, and a $300 camera. There was a root that went through my drain line. Earl's was lazy. They didn't problem solve. They wanted to sell me a new drain line. They didn't listen at all. When I explained that the 90% of the drain line they wanted to replace was new, they didn't care. When I asked if I could dig up the problem section of pipe for them so they could examine it more closely, they said no. Everything about my experience was pathetic. If you are looking for a good plumber that cares about you, don't go to Earl's. I even talked to one of their ex plumbers. He mentioned the training is all about SALES, and not about plumbing expertise. If you want a plumber that cares about making the most money, but doesn't care about your personal needs, look no further. But hey - they offered 12 month no money down financing on the 13,000 repair I didn't need. So they got that going for them I guess? read more

As we are in the middle of the worse time we have ever seen, Earl's technician came just to do the yearly maintenance. I have a yearly maintenance and they were on time, performed the yearly check-up and also checked that the dishwasher was in good working order and not leaked all over the floor, since it had not been used for more than 2 years.
