Watkins installed a tankless water heater back in 2017 and has been flushed only once since then so I figured it was time. Called Watkins and they sent Jerrod out to get it done. I had a bad leak at my water main. I called the first online Plumber. I'm a recent Widow and I unfortunately told the Plumber Rick this fact. I feel I was definitely taken to the cleaners. I was charged $985.00 for 1 hour of work and a fitting. I was given an estimate and balked. I was told there was a lot of digging involved. I figured there was hours of work if he was charging $985.00. Nope. 1 hour. A friend in my Church called him and complained. He basically said too bad, I was given an estimate. This is a true account and he should be ashamed of himself for being one of the tradesmen that take advantage of women on their own! The plumber was really rude and left an enormous mess for us to clean up when he was finally finished. He was very angry at us when he couldn't get his massive rooter machine around or through our house to our septic tank. At least he was able to drag a smaller unit through our house and run it through a bathroom but he left boot prints and puddles in the house. He shoved our brand new garden hose up the sewage line and the left the hose black and filthy with sewage which we had to clean. He called the landlord and told him we had been putting things down the septic like wipes and cotton balls neither of which we ever use - we're really careful about what we put down the drains. We were just happy to have our system functioning again but, man, this dude was a really one angry, rude and messy person. read more

I cannot recommend this place enough. We have used them in the past for minor plumbing emergencies and they have always been affordable, prompt, courteous and we have never been charged above their estimated cost, once even less than estimated. They even take the time to explain what they need to do and why while creating the estimated cost. They are also very accurate in their estimates, we have never paid more than expected. Today Watkins takes the cake for being fantastically awesome. Our hot water tank died last week. It wasn't a shock...Watkins told us 2 years ago it was on its last leg..we just waited too long. Instead of calling Watkins, we opted to try the installation services of the giant orange big box store....huge mistake. Someone arrived 10 hours later to tell us he couldn't fix it or replace it until we agreed to allow him to upgrade all of our water and gas lines to bring up to code, new drain pan, and valves. Estimated costs were $1500-$1800. And of course it was too late to do it today and might have to order the tank we needed. We tried a few alternatives without success. This morning after having had enough of cold showers and boiling water to do the dishes, we called Watkins. Our Heros. They had someone here in less than an hour to estimate costs. He found that yes we needed some upgrades to bring it all up to code, but not everything had to be replaced as much if the water lines were already @ code and perfectly fine and he could upgrade us to a larger tank. Within 3 hours from the time we called them we had a brand new tank, pipes and valves replaced for $700 less than the other estimate. The tech they sent was really nice and really quick. My grandmother contacted these people to come out to fix a "leak" that she had with her water heater. The guy comes out and gives us the hard sell for a new water heater, $489 for some water pressure BS, $189 for some release valve, on top of the $159 it costs for them to come out just to tell you this! From the time she called til when they showed was almost instant, basically had nothing to do, this wasn't an emergency call. I tore out a piece of the dry wall to get to the "leak" and saw that it needed to dry out. I spoke with the plumber and told him that we would use him to fix it but we need to figure out more about this "leak". Fast forward a few days and we realize that the leak is coming more from the AC unit, that is right next to the water heater, open it all up and notice that the water isnt falling into the pan. We adjust the pan, and no more "leak". I live in a community with a lot of seniors and feel that this company is a predator with all these sales upgrades. Completely misdiagnosing the problem and selling us stuff we don't need? How can you feel good about yourself trying to swindle someone that has no clue about new technology. I had a broken main waterline to my house on a Saturday morning. I tried calling my "regular" plumber but only got his voicemail. I did a search for local plumbers and found Watkins Plumbing. I placed a call and spoke with owner Richard Watkins. After describing the problem, Richard said he would be out in an hour. Richard worked several hours in 100 degree heat and got a temporary water line in service to the house for the night. The next day, Sunday morning, Richard was back at 8AM to finish the job. Richard was professional, friendly and very methodical in his work. We saved several hundred dollars by helping with the excavation and back fill work. I never heard back from my regular plumber. $660 to repair a leak my husband had already dug out ($198 per hour plus parts). Slowest repair job ever, multiple smoke breaks and plumber described the delay as him being "methodical." Charged for three hours for what could have been done in half that time, and that was with my husband assisting (former building mechanic, currently disabled) the entire time. Fixed income, senior citizen Vietnam Vet couldn't complete the repair himself due to recent knee replacement, or we would have saved the $660. We will never use this company again, and will make certain we let everyone we know hear about how we were taken advantage of. read more

After spending nearly $10k on some major plumbing repairs with Watkins including one small job to install a new kitchen faucet. After just over a year the faucet has come loose from the sink. The owner of the company accuses us of somehow abusing the faucet. The faucet has a lifetime warranty but apparently correctly installing a kitchen faucet is beyond the skill set of Watkins. They want a minimum of $189 to come out and fix their shoddy work. Maybe they should consider keeping their customers happy. My sister needs to replace all the iron pipes in her home, my mother is building a new home and another of my neighbors just asked about a good plumber, since he is new to the area and needs major re-model plumbing work done. Before this we would have used/recommended Watkins for all of these jobs but sure is good to find out they don't stand behind their work. I will now make sure to tell everyone I know to avoid Watkins Plumbing. read more

Had a leak in the main pipe from the street to the house. I dug it out and found the leak. The truck showed up and said it COULD be a huge problem as the old pipe may not be able to be fixed. Quoted me $480.00 for the repair. Dug more and found a broken pipe at a TEE going to an unused pipe. The plumber grabbed a plug from the truck, screwed it in and fixed the leak. Took maybe 10 minutes tops. I had to fill in the hole. Relieved I said, well that's going to be a lot less than $480.00. Nope he said. That was the quote. read more

okey, so after our first review last month about our first visit from Richard, we got excited about the possibilities, especially as he pointed out last time that we could just purchase an trim kit for the shower head, temp regulator and faucet as long as it was the same brand (the unwell valves are different per each manufacturer, we should be able to do this upgrade work ourselves as it needed no in wall plumbing if we used the same brand. So we did just that. Purchased the fixture hardware from Build.com (an awesome site) and my husband was able to swap out the shower, bar and elbow by himself. Then we found that the temp regulator and tub spout were a different brand then the existing (my bad) and he couldn't get it to connect to the existing inwall plumbing. So, company coming tomorrow... called Richard, explained the problem. He was sure that he had appropriate parts and trim for the temp/shower-tub switch thingie and the spout. He was finishing up a job and advised he would come over soon. 15 minutes later, he was here, with parts in hand! Did the job on the spot. This guy is just awesome. Very fair pricing for parts and plumbing. We will continue on with Richard for the next stage of the remodel when we attach the vanity! read more
