The food I have there is always as good as the last time. Very consistent taste wise and the best chain restaurant coffee I have ever had. Our family enjoys their effort in meals to accommodate members that eat dairy/meat free. They have more then one dish for them. read more

I'm giving this location a 2 star due to service only. Our group came in around 1:40pm and sat on the patio. Our server Adam A. didn't tell us any specials going on. We asked about whether brunch was still on since it said until 2pm. The server acted irritated to have to inquire. Mentioned the brunch menu was inside the main menu. It was not. So he left for 10 mins to inquire from the kitchen if they could do that. He said no even though it was before 2pm. So we ordered our food. He drops off the happy hour menu at 2:20pm. We had no idea it was happy hour, and the menu stated it starts at 2pm. We got our food around 2:30pm and the food quality was good. I asked if my food had made it on the happy hour menu time since it was truffle fries and lettuce wraps. He said he didn't think so cause happy hour started when he dropped the menu to us? Umm... no cause that's misleading since he didn't even give us these menus at 2pm!! And if we had known... we totally wouldve waited the 5 mins or so to order with the specials. When I dined at Earls restaurant, I ordered a double serving of dynamite rolls while sitting at the bar. Although I did not specifically request chopsticks when placing my order, the lack of available chopsticks was not mentioned at that time. However, when the food arrived, the food runner informed me that there were no chopsticks available and made a flippant comment of "good luck" before walking away. This situation was frustrating for me because I would have preferred to eat the sushi with chopsticks. I then asked the bartender if she could double-check, and she confirmed that the food runner had not even bothered to check for chopsticks. This lack of attention and customer service is unacceptable, and the food runner's dismissive comment only added to my disappointment. Overall, my experience at Earls restaurant was negatively impacted by the chopstick interaction and the poor customer service from the food runner. This situation highlights the need for better training and attention to detail from the staff at Earls. Bar tender was mint though. read more

Came here again on Sunday Feb 23 around 11:45am. Had a wonderful server named Sarah H. Getting refills before being asked and making sure the food was great and if we needed more. Cannot keep track how times I have being here on Sundays. Seated right by the front entrance in a 2 person booth. Still get awesome service at this location. read more

My friends and I always come to Earls St. Albert when we need a little change of scenery from our home offices. I'm there every week or two. I'm always met by the friendliest staff who are very attentive and the food never disappoints. It's why we keep coming back! Love when Adam gets to serve our table! He is always super friendly and attentive, we now ask for him every time we come! I think if folks are complaining, either someone has had an off day (it happens to the best of us) or they may actually be expecting a lot (aka too much) from someone who is serving them. The earls I went to in Nanaimo was awful so I was not expecting the food and service to be as great. Cajun Chicken salad and burger were really good here. This location is busy and you can easily see why. Colour me surprised. This is one of the only restaurants where my wife orders take out regularly. It's not the most price friendly and is a chain restaurant but the food is really good. (At this location. I can't speak for other locations.) read more

Very disappointing. My wife and I both ordered the 6oz Filet & Lobster Tail. The Filet was delicious, seemed small for 6 oz, but in fairness it may have been. The mashed potatoes were fine. I could smell the lobster tail as soon as the waiter brought the dish near the table. The shell was split & the meat was mostly outside the shell and was covered in Old Bay spices (or something), no melted butter, dry and all we could taste was the seasoning. Probably a blessing. Neither of us finished the lobster. My "Long Island Iced Tea" (my favorite drink) tasted nothing like it should have. This wasn't the worst $200 I've ever spent, but was the worst $200 I've ever spent at a restaurant. This may be a sign of the times, I know places are struggling. Still no excuse. read more

We decided to dine at Earls last Saturday evening. It wasn't that busy when we arrived and we were seated on the patio. I had the truffle tortellini with shrimp. The shrimp were cooked to perfection; however the tortellini and sauce were cold. My partner had the chicken fettuccine Alfredo which was also cold & the Cajun chicken was over cooked. The pumpkin pies we had for dessert were the best part of the meal. With a little more attention to detail, our meal would have been much better. read more

Very overpriced for the food in my opinion. $57.00 for a filet? We came for lunch and I was very disappointed. Someone needs to inform the chef that salt exists. Chicken tenders, no flavour at all, iced tea was so weak it was like drinking coloured water. Fries were okay. Waitress didn't even ask how we enjoyed the food or I certainly would have told her. -I heard that Earls was having a Patio Party on a Monday night so of course I had to check it out! Really cool vibe!  Live DJ, corona and Sarac testing and free tacos cooked on the Patio.  It was a super hot day but most of the Patio was in the shade by 7PM so that was fine.  The Patio is surrounded by greenery and features colorful flowers throughout. We had tacos, calamari and then a giant peanut butter cookie for desert.  Food was decent.  Staff was very friendly and attentive.  Definitely a fun night on the Patio! I've eaten at Earls pretty frequently over the years for various occasions. Yesterday I was visiting with my cousin and wanted to grab some breakfast, so we popped into this Earls. I had scoped the menu ahead of time and knew I wanted to try the eggs benny because it is my faaaaavorite breakfast item, hands down. My cousin ordered the same, and his wife ordered chicken tacos and a fresh green juice (which looked amazing). Our food came out quickly, but I could immediately see that the eggs were essentially raw. You know when you wiggle a plate and a poached egg flies around precariously like a water balloon? That. I asked the server if he would mind asking the kitchen to just warm them up until the whites were cooked for me (nobody wants salmonella), which he did. Some time later my meal returns with one egg cooked slightly better, but the other still raw. I didn't want to complain more, so I dug in and just planned to eat the cooked egg. When the server came around to check how things were my cousin let her know that I had been served a raw egg again. She agreed to bring me another plate, so I stopped eating. The manager brought around some complimentary Beignets (very kind) and a short time later the server came back with just two poached eggs. I was a little irritated because I had stopped eating and let my potatoes get cold, and I had to use my raw egg soaked bread to eat with the finally properly cooked eggs. And the saddest part of all- I didn't have enough hollandaise sauce! I give the restaurant 2 stars because they did attempt to correct the situation (though quite poorly) and my cousin's wife enjoyed her meal. The ambiance is also quite nice in here. However, I certainly won't be returning for breakfast any time soon because I don't think they've figured out how to cook eggs! read more

My husband and I went to Earl's for a late night dinner at the St. Albert location. The atmosphere was clean and trendy. After spending 10 minutes deciding on what to order and then ordering... the server then told us they were out of the entree I wanted and the dessert I wanted! Nothing makes me crazier than deciding on what to order to only then be told that they are out of that item! We settled on sharing an appetizer of pan bread with balsamic vinegar and oil, a cheeseburger, and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. It was around 10PM and were were the only table waiting for food. Most of the staff were huddled around the bar area chit chatting. The meal was pretty good - the prices a little high in my opinion - overall, it was an okay experience - given that the entree and dessert I wanted were "out." read more

If you are looking for a fun and relaxing patio to dine at this summer I would definitely recommend Earls St. Albert location. Stopped in to have lunch with my friend and her aunts. And I have to say it truly was a great lunch. I'm not sure if it was the weather and company that made this experience so great but I have nothing to complain about. We decided to eat outside since the weather was so nice. The patio at the St. Albert location was uber comfortable. With your choice of sun or shaded table. The seats had lots of cushions and tables were decorated with extra throw pillows and even flannel blankets incase you catch a chill from a breeze. I thought that was a really nice touch. The plants and flowers were lush and green. My friend and I decided to share some appys for lunch. We went with the lettuce wraps, spinach artichoke dip, and truffle fries. The wraps were very flavourful with lots of cilantro and ginger. The truffle fries were pretty unique as well. The fries were on the smaller size. They were soft but not crispy and the truffle aioli that was included for dipping was even better. It seems Earls has really worked to put a unique spin on their dishes and the spinach artichoke dip is no differnt. Again it really packed a flavour punch and I loved how the artichoke chunks were decently sized. This dish was served with toasted sliced bread. Perhaps my one complaint was that the bread was a bit on the over toasted side making it difficult to bit through because of the thickness of slice. The other ladies at the table had order the soup and salad and both were happy with their meal. Our waitress was very attentive and frequently checked in to see if we needed anything. read more

Visited today. Little disappointed in a couple of things. 1) we met friends who got there at 4:50 and ordered drinks from Happy Hour menu. They saw us walk in at 4:58 and asked waitress if we could have our drinks at Happy Hour price as well as we were at our table at 4:59 but she left and didn't come back for 10 minutes so wouldn't let us have ours at HH prices. Whatever, but slightly annoying. 2) I ordered chicken Alfredo, which did not seem to have any kind of Alfredo sauce on it whatsoever. It was more like they doused it in olive oil and butter and threw some Parmesan cheese on it. Totally edible, but definitely not an Alfredo sauce. The other three enjoyed their meals; service was prompt, and, other than the HH issue, the staff were nice. We were asked if we enjoyed our meal by who I assume was the Manager who was also nice. I always like to eat local. Of course to support local businesses but I also find that they have more unique food on the menu. We were in StAlbert last minute and decided to go to Earls I was expecting them to have a better variation. They had unique things on their drink menu but their food menu was same old same old. They are lacking vegetarian and vegan options. I ended up Ordering soup and salad. I was actually pleasantly surprised the soup and salad were quite good. The service was friendly and my friends seem to enjoy their food I just wish they had a more unique menu. If I could I would've given a 3 1/2 star read more

Yum! We don't usually ever come to St Albert (south side for life!), but we had tickets to an event at the Arden Theatre so I checked yelp to see what was near by. After checking the online menu of both Earls and Joey (including nutritional value - New Years resolution still going strong), I decided to book a little reservation at Earls and get myself some steak! Predictably, the place was hoppin' on a Saturday night, but we got seated right away and our friendly waitress came to offer us some beverages. The wine was divine and the steak was super yummy. My husband enjoyed the fish and chips and obviously I checked out the bathrooms - all clean and pretty! Overall, great weekend spot - don't forget your reservation! read more

Great service but terrible food. We were staying at a nearby hotel and were referred to Earls. The food didn't seem fresh and lacked flavor. It was parallel to something you could make at home from inexpensive frozen food with a deep fryer. We didn't finish our food and went to a nearby 7-11 to get something far superior. read more

Earlier this evening we celebrated my Grandsons 21st birthday at Earls in St Albert - our waitress was friendly enough but we waited almost an hour for our food. I nearly always order the Pasta Alfredo & up until tonight it has been very good - 4 of us ordered this dish tonight - to say it was a disappoint ment is putting it mildly - all dishes were almost cold with very little sauce. The server took mine back to heat it which took 20 min & it still was not close to being hot - the others were hungry so ate their almost cold dishes. I know our bill was pretty hefty as quite a few alcohol drinks were ordered. It will be a while before we return to this restaurant read more

I am confused if I like Earls. The various drinks are amazing but in my mind the wine is way over priced. The meals I like, I really like and the others not so much! Like the spinach dip appy, dip is soooo good and the bread with it is meh at best. The cajun special menu on now is great! I will admit damn both the servers and clients are easy on the eyes! I have been to Earls at several locations but I am definitely not a regular. I had always thought they had a fairly diverse menu and decent enough quality. We had a gift card from a close friend and thought we should give them another try. Friday night we thought we would go for dinner before heading to the movies. We got there at 5:45pm thinking we would beat the dinner rush. WRONG! Half the tables in the restaurant were empty and there was a 45 MINUTE WAIT! I have worked in the restaurant business and know there are only a couple reasons so many tables would be empty at what appeared to be peak time: either they have so few wait staff they can't run the business, or the manager is too afraid of "slamming" the kitchen that he/she won't seat the whole restaurant at one time. They could also have had a big reservation but that would not be a very smart business move for peak Friday dinner time. To say the least we did not stay on Friday night. So, Saturday we had a long day cleaning up the yard for fall, and thought "Hey, lets go back and give Earls another shot." Well, we arrived and were seated right away. Awesome! The restaurant seemed fairly full, with lots of kids (odd considering I would not really figure Earls as a top spot for kids.) Our waitress was nice, but it took her over 5 minutes to get to our table to say hi. They do not have "real" menus - just printed paper that looks like it should be single-use. Ours had definitely seen many hands and had been used as place mats too. Speaking of the menus - what happened to all the food? They have several categories, but everything seems to be the same recycled ingredients. There is sweet chili sauce or chili rub on pretty much all of the menu. Under "Mains" where I'd expect to see a variety of fish, poultry, beef, etc. there are THREE items. Ribs, ribs/chicken combo, and fish and chips. There is a separate steak section, but come on, thats pretty pathetic. My wife ended up getting soup and salad, and I got the pecan chicken salad. My salad was $17, and was worth about $8. The chicken was okay but the amount of crust it had on it, you would expect some flavour. The greens were about one cup of arugula, and it had about one cup of tzatziki tasting dressing smothered all over the plate. There were a few pear slices and a few pickled beets too. As we ate our meal we saw the section getting emptier and emptier. The tables sat dirty and not made up for new diners. By the time we were done there were close to 20 empty seats around us. We could see there was a wait at the door as well, so we really did not know what was going on. As we were leaving we saw what looked lie about 10 people with party gifts, so maybe they had reserved a whole section? So, to wrap this up all I can say is we will not return to Earls voluntarily. The food was overpriced and under-seasoned. (We had two glasses of house wine, two salads, and split a piece of pie for $77) The service, although friendly, was extremely slow. We cannot understand their seating strategy at all. They should not be taking party reservations in a restaurant of that size - I can only imagine the quality of food and service for a group larger than four. read more

Terrible terrible terrible service. I have been to this earls 5-6 times and every time the service is terrible. The last time was in with a group of 13 people our food came out cold, we had to ask for drink refills and asked 3 times for a desert menu- we were never brought a dessert menu. I find the Earls in St. Albert to be reliable. The service can be a bit slow, but once your order is in the food comes quickly, and is consistently of good quality. I find that the waitresses are stretched a bit thin at this location, so they don't have enough time to check in and ask if you'd like a drink refill. However, as I said, once the food is ready it seems to appear speedily. This Earls is a lot more casual than some in the city as well, which is a nice change. read more

I always see my friends having tasty drinks and meals at Earls, but I've come to realize that they don't usually come from this location. This location has been a staple in the city for many years and is almost always busy from passing by. That said, I've never found the quality of the food to be too great. Most of the meals I've had over the course of those years have been either dry or bland. The burgers are so dry that my S/O only ate half his. My forager burger was okay (I ate it, obviously, cause I'm a piggy) but it was pretty bland. The fries are always the best part of the meal, but, you know, still dry and bland. The salads are expensive and the portion size looks like it's been cut right down in the last 5-7 years for the same price. The caesars are pretty good (a little bit chunky for my liking) and the beef jerky stick is a cute garnish. The service always meets a standard and is as it should be and the restaurant is comfortable, especially the patio portion. But I assure you that a much better meal is to be had across the street at The Celtic Knot for a similar cost, if not cheaper. read more

This Earls is pretty disappointing. I went out with a big group for my sisters Birthday, and it was just so "meh". The service was horriable...extreamly slow, and not once was I asked if I wanted another drink. The food when it finally came was only ok..defonately not worth the price you pay. I had the chicken jeera curry. And it was small and pretty much something I make at home. My sister (the Birthday girl) had her entre order mixed up and ended up with something completely different then she ordered..they did bring her the right one in the end. But there was no real apology and no "compensation"..no free drink, nothing! It was her Birthday! It was SO expensive too..like for what it was. I'm not rushing back to Earl's in a hurry. read more

I've been to Earls several times over the years. And for the most part they have decent service along with better than average food. However, the one thing I find is that it's always hit and miss, for both food and service. You go there once, you get great service, the next time, less than admirable. Lately the food has been less than desirable. Went to the St. Albert version on Boxing day for a bit of a family outing. There were 8 of us, so we weren't a small group, but not a large one either. Service was good, however the food was not. Had ordered a burger and fries. Usually not a difficult meal to make. Fries came out cold, and hamburger was thin, dry and cold. Bun was dry as well. They did execute the order correctly (without onion and pickle) but past that it was sub-standard. Had asked for pepper since it's not supplied on the tables (only salt) and instead I got ketchup. Server never came back around again after that. hmmmff. Overall it's a nice place to go with a clean look and fresh design, but I'd prefer a place that looked a little less trendy for better food. I frequent many Earls locations. The food here is standard earls food, which is good. Not amazing, but consistently good. The atmosphere/layout varies between locations. This one is pretty open and one half is the lounge and other half is the dining room. Smaller than most other earls which doesn't really matter since the majority of times I have been to this one there hasn't been a ton of people in the restaurant. Its probably one of the better restaurants in St. Albert. Its not liking going out to downtown restaurants as this location seems to still be a more quiet family restaurant. We went during happy hour. The place wasn't crazy busy. I don't know if they didn't have enough staff on or if our server was just not attentive. We had to wait quite a while to get menus. And once she brought our food we didn't see her again until the end of the meal. I like when servers let you be, but I think they should check in at least once in case you need something. read more

Worst experience I have had at a restaurant in a long time. We came for a quick lunch with our daughter, we waited over an hour for a ceaser salad and a chicken rice bowl. There was five groups of two people in the whole restaurant. When we got our food the chicken on the salad was so over spiced and over cooked it was barely edible, my wives rice bowl came out without the chicken even on it, she had to wait another five minutes for that. I had heard this earls was going down hill but figured we would still try it out. Probably won't be back again unless it's just for drinks. read more

I have been here a couple different times because I really like earls. However, this earls location is by far the worst. Every time I come, the waitress checks on my table a couple times throughout the visit. As well, the waitress takes a long time to come back to bring items such as extra sauces. One time I didn't like my meal and we were gonna order another item but the waitress never came by. The other person I was out with was half of way done their meal by the time she come by. I didn't want to order because by the time my food would come the person would have to wait. Overall, don't come to this location the service is garbage and they run out of food.
