Spinach dip
Violet P.

Came on a Monday evening and we were seating near the back and there were just a few other tables occupied. They were good to spread people apart so no one was close to each other. The server brought out a jug of water for us to pour what we wanted as we didn't order any drinks. For food, we shared the spinach dip served with bread sticks and dry ribs which came in short time after we ordered. I am not a big cheesy and gooey dip person so I liked that this dip wasn't like that and it came with lots of break sticks. The ribs were ok, nothing unique about them. For my entrée, they had the new lobster and prawns ravioli with lobster sauce. Glad to see it was more than 5 or 6 ravioli. The lobster and prawn was on top of the ravioli. It was tasty and would have liked a bit more seafood. I ate half of of my entrée as I was full from the appetizers too. The service was good and we didn't fill rushed to leave the restaurant after eating our meal as it was emptying out. Felt safe to eat here and they have a sign for the bathroom of maximum of 2 people at a time.

Wow this place is amazing! It was our last day in the province and we really wanted to eat something that was worthwhile and it was convenient that the mall had a whole strip of restaurants to pick from and so it was bound to be busy. We got a table for 8 and it we waited a bit before they had it ready for us. I ordered the butter chicken with garlic bread on the side and it was honestly one of the best Indian dishes I have had. Portion size was also good as I did not realize that we ordered that much food since I added bread on the side. My friend who also ordered the same thing, said the same thing about the butter chicken. Service here was top notch and ambiance was nice. It was definitely a very good meal to finish the trip with.

Wait staff were very attentive and polite. Meal came in a timely manner. We had the sushi, which had some dried rice on on it, but it stayed together pretty well. The street chicken tacos were a good size, however, the tortilla had been on the grill a little too long and they were more like a hard shell versus a softer white warm tortilla.

I really like Earls. We've consistently enjoyed our many visits to their many locations, and there are a vanishingly small number of chain restaurants that we even bother to frequent. This review is about the West Edmonton Mall ("West Ed") location, which has fierce competition on their "Bourbon Street" restaurant row. Many a time, whether it's upon first arriving in Canada and hitting the mall for an evening of people-watching and strolling about (especially in the skin-freezing winter weather) or as a last hurrah before heading out to the airport, we've ended our time at WestEd with a dinner (supper) at Earls. The staff are consistently great, cheerful, attentive, and somehow find the little extras to make the event seem personable. On our last visit we wound up nibbling from the happy-hour menu, a bit of everything. Rather than wait with the throng for the crush of table space, we opted to sit at the bar and watch the action. Our server, also a bartender, gracefully took care of our food order, wonderfully did our drinks (red wine for her, a spectacular Caesar - a bloody mary with clam juice - for me), and kept up an inclusive conversation with us, all while making drinks for the establishment. A busy guy who made it all seem effortless. The food is repeatedly satisfying, cooked well, presented nicely, and whenever there's anything not just right the staff are empowered to fix or replace the offending morsel. I don't regret any of my Earls visits and I look forward to a bunch more.

In West Ed and wanting something different we decided to head to Earls on Bourbon Street for lunch. It was quiet as we were there on a Monday lunchtime and we really liked that there were not as many TV's as most bar/restaurants. The service was lovely, our waitress was attentive and really helped us with the menu options. I ordered a caesar salad that was an enormous portion, the chicken was spicy and gave the salad a boost. I washed it down with a perfectly made Caesar cocktail. Maybe I watched too much Spartacus recently, who knows but all I can say is 'All hail, Caesar'. It is on the upper end of mall dining, that's for sure.

The food was quite bland. It is way overpriced for what is served. I do not recommend.

Waiter was very kind and asked us if it was our first time and encouraged group sharing of the dishes and recommended 2-3 dishes per person. Waters were provided as well as a wine bottle-type jug with water in it - too bad the wine bottle is quite dark and the waiter cannot tell when it is empty and needs a refill. We tried: Ricotta Fritters: 7/10, tomato sauce was very overpowering in flavor, corn was very nice. Fritters themselves were very tasty and the ricotta filling was very nice but it gets hidden when eaten with the potent tomato sauce. Broccolini: 9/10, good, good flavor, cooked well just not sure they are worth the price for what you get. Risotto: 6/10, my uncle gave it a 8/10 as he liked it. To me it was pretty bland, could be that the carrot flavor isn't my thing, but just found it underwhelming and lacking flavor (maybe needs more salt too) Texture was very good though. Colcannon Gnocchi: 12/10. This dish was soooo good. Loved the mushroom cream sauce, sour cream, GIANT bacon jam blobs, gnocchi itself had good texture. But combined the flavors were phenomenal. 100% recommend this dish. Unfortunately Amberjack was not available. Herb Marinated Chicken Thighs: Chicken was 9/10 good, good flavor and texture but Brussel sprouts were bad like no one would eat them bad. Undercooked and under seasoned. Little rocks that had a bad taste. Sauce was good to add moisture but was very very bland/tasteless. Overall this fed 3 of us well with no leftovers but also no room for dessert.

We also had the Coq au Vin -two braised drumsticks, red wine, smoked bacon, shallots, and mushrooms. We had the savoury cake sale and the flavour was vegetable. Finally to round off the meal we had pommes duchesse w/horseradish, chive aïoli, and truffle oil. We also tried some seasonal cocktails. Service was friendly and professional. Food came out in timely manner. The ambiance was cozy and a great place to chat. Food was amazing as usual. Favourite was the devilled eggs but I really appreciated the chou farcie. The flavour was delicous and my hubby appreciated that it was mostly meat. You really can't go wrong here! Just order whatever you are feeling like and you won't be disappointed.

We love the food - dare I say, the best french onion soup in the city? (And just $6 on the Sunday snack menu!!) The charcuterie options change constantly, as does the flavour for the complimentary popcorn to nibble on (brown butter & dill the night we were there). From the regular menu, absolutely get the tartare. The flavours, the texture - every bite was perfect.

She was helpful in picking out things for us to try. The menu is diverse, and pretty much has something for everyone. And we happened to score on Happy Hour which was some good eats for an affordable price. What we chose from the Happy Hour Menu Korean Fried Chicken Brusell Sprouts Sparrow Tots Arancini All these were 9 dollars. We also chose two happy hour drink specials for 9 bucks Spicy Sparrow and the Old Fashion We also had the Beef Short Ribs with gnocci and the date pudding. Food was really delicious. I liked everything. The beef short ribs with gnocci were probably our favourite but not a deal. All the happy hour things were tasty. The big surprise was the Korean Fried Chicken which had a great mix of sweet and spicy. The Sparrow tots were great too. The only thing I would not reorder is the date pudding. This was a dime a dozen. Nothing standoutish and could get a great bread pudding at many pubs for cheaper. Try this place. Especially at their Golden Hour.

My peaches and cream tea was decadent. Our server was good, but perhaps there was too many tables for her. It took her awhile to refill our pots. She definitely was busy. Also, if you bring a child here you can have a tea with teddy and it was nice that the kids could choose a teddy bear from the selection. A really nice touch. The food was delicious. The savory food we received was cucumber on focaccia, southern chicken croissant, English beef and cheese pastry pie, smoked salmon with capers, and ham and cheese wrap. We received a plain scone and a peaches and cream scone. For dessert we had coconut key lime thumbprint, ruby spring petit four, raspberry mousse bon bon, lemon cloud with blueberry/lavender glaze, and a golden apricot macaron.
