Unique eggs benedict on a gluten free vegetable fritter lightened with mint and greens. I really enjoyed how this combination allowed me to feel indulgent and yet not weighed down. The atmosphere is certainly more upscale which can be great for a fancier brunch, but would be even better for an evening out. Service was excellent. Staff was well educated about dietary restrictions, menu options, and willing to ask the kitchen for any clarification required. There were only a handful of veg/GF options including the veg fritter egg benny and shakshouka, but if you're happy with limited menu options, you'll be satisfied with the excellent quality of food and unique flavours. Given that this place opened up under a new name only recently, it's a great spot to try something new in Edmonton if you're looking to change it up - a rare occurrence for celiacs in the city.

I'd been meaning to visit May for awhile now and finally had my chance this weekend. My first impression of the space is that it felt cozy yet modern. The music is a little loud which normally doesn't bother me but one member of our group is hard of hearing and struggled a bit to keep up with the conversation so we will keep that in mind next time. They have a great cocktail list, using house-made infusions in many of their drinks. I started off with the About the Bees which combines gin with bee's wax infused amaro and green tea inflused honey. The bee's wax gave the drink a super interesting texture. May encourages sharing a number of small plates, tapas style, for dinner. 2/3 of us were vegetarian and we were happy to see how many options we had. We went with the market greens, grilled broccolini, roasted eggplant, and ricotta gnudi. The standout for me was the broccolini. I love honey mustard on anything and this was no exception. I made sure to save room for dessert and we shared the ube pavola which combines flavours of ube, mango, coconut, and sesame. I would absolutely come back to May just to have this dessert again.

What a difference! Went to May to celebrate an anniversary. I have been here before for brunch, but this time everything was amazing! The mushrooms were tasty but slightly heavy as they are deep fried 3.5/5 stars. The cucumber salad was tasty with a slight kick. The cottage cheese was perfectly seasoned, 4.5/5. The broccolini is incredible. Perfectly cooked, seasoned, and presented 5/5. The last dish was the gnudi very pretty but lacked something special. The pesto was also pretty bland 3/5. Finally, the blondie was good, with lots of christmas flavors 4/5. Overall, the prices are a bit high, but definitely worth it with the broccolini. The service was great and courteous. Definitely would recommend for supper

Was really excited to check out this new place... I think it's been open for a couple of months. It's right at the Alberta art gallery, in a place where there was an old restaurant called zinc. We came in on a Saturday night around 6 PM and the ambiance was great, lots of candles, very romantic, the art is amazing. The menu is simple, there's not too many items, and everything is sharing. I thought the value was really there with the size of the plates. We definitely ordered way too much... I think if you did to appys and two entrées for two people you're in good shape. I always try steak tartare when it's at a reputable place, and this was my favorite... There's no toast, it's on like a potato pancake, but the flavour was fantastic. We also did the ravioli which was good. But it's just one big ravioli so not great for sharing. For entrées we did the short ribs, which was massive... Meat falling off the bone, with some beets and kale. It's almost the size of a pot roast so I would say definitely three portions. We also did the seafood risotto which was incredible. A great mix of flavours and a substantial portion too. For dessert we did the Panna cotta, which had some really nice sorbet and lychee. We also had a couple cocktails, they did a really nice nonalcoholic sangria for my girlfriend, and I did the old-fashioned which was phenomenal. Also if you're a wine person, they have an extensive wine list with some really interesting wines. Quite a few by the glass and I was impressed. Definitely a place that you have to go!!

So this is my second time coming here. I have to say the service and the food has become more improved. I will stay though that based on the price the food is small. The scallops were 24 dollars and only 4 of them. The whole grilled onion and the fresh sprouts did not work with the dish. To many different textures and sizes that didn't compliment each other. On the other hand, the scallops were cooked perfectly. The Squash gnocchi was amazing, in taste, texture, and beauty. But again, look at how many gnocchi for 24 bucks, certainly not a "large plate." However the beef tartar on crostini was again tasty but small. This was 26 bucks. The star of the show was the mushrooms which were perfectly cooked and potato crunch (chips) gave an amazing contrast. The menu is interesting and changes. The food is well presented and delicous. But I can't rationalize the price point the cost of the dish. If you have a small appetite and a big pocketbook go here. I probably won't be running here again. (Especially since if I am running, I won't be able to afford the calories I burned).

Slap on your sparkly dress and a pair of heels (or wear whatever the heck you want) and make your way to Downtown's pink palace! You'll remember this location as the former home of Fu's Repair Shop and Prairie Fish & Chips before that. The Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2024 list named Dolly's as Favourite Patio and the pictures that I've seen of the back terrace look completely adorable, complete with colourful lanterns. Unfortunately, my visit was in October and it wasn't quite patio weather anymore. I turned up on a Friday evening with one of my best girlfriends in tow and we were ready for the biggest Barbiecore night of our lives! Imagine our surprise when we discovered that Dolly's had been transformed into the "Black Lagoon" for the month of October in the spirit of Halloween. (I probably should have looked into this in advance but I was unaware!) I was expecting Cyndi Lauper and Aqua but instead I got Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson. The whole restaurant was draped in the most spider webs that I've ever seen. There were giant spiders hanging from the ceiling and spooky skeletons in every corner. It was a vibe, that's for sure!! But certainly not the one that I had been anticipating. Bits of pink paint and sparkly chandeliers peeked through in some areas and the neon "Dolly's" sign on the wall allowed me to imagine what the Barbie dreamhouse-esque space normally looks like just a little bit. Otherwise, Dolly's was fully transformed into the moody Black Lagoon. I should've worn fishnets instead of glitter. The servers were all very friendly and we were quickly seated at a comfortable table along the hot pink velour banquette. Dolly's invites you to sip, snack, and stay in their minor-free glamorous escape. The house cocktails and mocktails are a major part of the experience (it is a cocktail bar after all) and I was excited to get a cute pink beverage into my hand! There was also a menu of Black Lagoon-themed cocktails that were all served in fun tiki-style vessels. This menu included themed foods as well. I personally had my eye on the Pink Palace Royale cocktail which I saw on the menu online. Made with a special collab gin with Strathcona Spirits and Licor 43 (one of my favourite liqueurs), this sounded like everything that I wanted in a cocktail and more! Other drinks had names like Dolly's Dreamhouse, Bubbilicious, and the house shot was called the Bend & Snap - exactly the sort of drinks that I had come for! However, I was sorely disappointed when the server told me that the drink I wanted was no longer on the menu. It seemed that I could only order a Halloween beverage. I fumbled to find anything that Elle Woods would approve of and settled on a mocktail called Pretty in Pink (Strawberry, cream of coconut, lime, soda, mint - $9.00) and the server suggested that the bar could add vanilla vodka to turn it into a proper cocktail. I agreed. Honestly, I was just relieved to get something pink onto the table! I enjoyed this icy-fresh cocktail a lot and it delivered most of what I had been hoping for. The sweetness of the strawberry and coconut was really fun! The lime and mint added a mojito flair. A very cute and well-composed beverage but I was sad that most of the girly drinks didn't seem to be available. When it comes to eats at Dolly's the food is what you would expect to see at a party, with the idea of sharing at the heart. I loved the idea of Dolly's Funhouse (which is an epic plate of nachos), and dishes like wings, tacos, and mac & cheese. However, the dish to order at Dolly's has gotta be the Girl Dinner (Truffle tots, chickie tendies, aji verde, aji rocoto, pineapple sweet & sour, Dolly's salad - $50.00 for two). It's a must-share so grab your girlies and prepare to chow down! They had me at tots. The Girl Dinner platter arrived looking extremely appetizing and somehow exactly what I wanted to be eating in a place that looked like this. The portion was exactly right for two people and I loved the pretty floral printed plates that we were given to dish our tots and tendies onto. As previously mentioned, I enjoy a tot. (I have a suspicion that Napoleon Dynamite really imprinted on me.) But truffle tots? Now that's just a home run! Topped with sea salt, truffle oil, and parmesan cheese, these golden potato nuggets were fried to perfection with a crispy outside and a soft and fluffy inside. I could have eaten them all. They were awesome to dunk into each of the sauces and when the rest of the food was gone we were still popping tots into our mouths. We couldn't even finish them all because the portion was so generous! The star of the meal were the chickie tendies; two giant chicken tenders, of which we each got our own. I loved this chicken! The batter was really flavourful and unique, and oh so crispy-crunchy. The chicken within was very tender and juicy, proving that an elevated chicke

I decided on the Warm Mushroom Salad which contained a Mushroom Medley, with a Shallot, Rose Water, & Elderflower Liqueur Vinaigrette and the Spicy Rigatoni with Habanero Rose Sauce. My husband went with Braised Chuck Flatserved on fresh grits, glazed in demi. Cocktails were carefully crafted and the food came out in a timely manner. Food was excellent. The mushroom salad was full of flavour and cooked properly. The spicy rigatoini was excellent with just enough heat from the habanero sauce. However, the real start was the braised chuck which melted with a tap of the fork. The grits were well cooked and a good accompaniment. We were stuffed but I would like to try thier desserts in the future. Cocktail prices were high but in the same price range as other fancy cocktail bars. The food prices were the same as many other places but with higher quality. Definately try this place out. I am looking forward to my next visit.
