Personalized cocktails from the bartender
Lindsey Y.

If you're looking for a cocktail bar, this is the place to go! The ambiance was what you expect at an upscale cocktail bar but being laid back enough for a blue collar type/come as you are type of place. Staff was great to converse with. There was plenty of seating when we showed up. Glad we chose this place for our first trip to Edmonton of a wedding!

This place is really a hit and miss. I am maybe judging a little harshly because it is one of the places that I feel elitist go to feel important. no doubt the cocktails are interesting and unique but everything else was between good and average. The place itself is cute. Small but with a beautiful bar and a great place to have an intimate date or to chit chat with friends. The service is what I had a HUGE issue with. Lost at least 2 stars there. Only two staff working the floor, one happened to be the bartender. He was so busy making drinks he was short for anyone he needed to attend to. So drinks took awhile, water took awhile, food took awhile, dessert took awhile, bill took awhile, and generally no "how is everything?". We generally had to flag him from the bar. If you are charging 15 bucks per cocktail, get another server to serve properly. I don't think it is good practice for the bartender to be also a server. Especially since on a Wednesday night the place was full of people drinking and he was the only one making the drinks. Super unprofessional. Food menu was fine, lots of appetizers to share but based on the quantity and quality of food, the price didn't match. The chef's board of meat and cheese was okay but not worth the money we spent on it....three average meats, two average cheeses and not so great preserves with a sad amount of bread for 28 bucks. This gets my goat. How much extra on your half to add a decent amount of crackers and condiments for what we are paying. Sorry, it isn't great splitting up 2 pieces of bread for three people. It would not cost much more to add more bread and perhaps some olives to the board. My favourite dish was the hummus but it was soooo skimpy on the bread. Disappointing. Salmon was good but pricey, and the pan con tomato was tasty but a bit soggy. Probably because it sat in the kitchen because there was NO ONE to serve the damn dish. For a birthday meal, it was disappointing. Go here for a cocktail if you are willing to wait. Mine was delicious once I got it. But either you need to increase the staff and quantity of food or decrease the price for me to come back.

This place is beautifully and uniquely decorated. It is small but had a nice ambiance. I have been here twice and both times have just ordered drinks even though they have a full menu Of oysters, fish tapas etc and usually 3 desserts . The drinks are unique and usually delicious ( I had one that was just horrible) This time I got the AMAZON (Cachaca, Elderflower, Passionfruit, Lime, Avocado, Coconut Cream) and the SIMONE (Vodka, Rhubarb, Manzanilla Sherry, Lemon, Lavender) and they were delicious with a beautiful presentation. The noise level was alittle high ( normal) and the do have a small patio. I would recommend this place for drinks or for a romantic dinner.

Clementine is a hip, trendy cocktail bar nestled in the Pearl Tower. It's right in between Ikki Izakaya (shocked this place is still alive) and Bru Coffee + Beer House. The word is out because they cracked Canada's 50 Best Bars list. The inside is small but cozy. We came on a Friday evening (around 7:30pm) and it was packed. Luckily, we didn't have to wait long and snagged a spot at the bar. Don't be surprised if you end up staying a couple hours and wondering where the time went. It's a time warp. Your bill will bring you back to reality. We were here for almost five hours but it didn't even feel long. There was constantly a line of people coming through but if you have the patience, you'll be rewarded. The menu is mostly drinks (cocktails, aperitifs, absinthe, digestifs, wines, beer and cider). There's a small food menu of aperitifs, plates and sweets. Note they have happy hour (5:00pm to 6:00pm) and are open Sunday's for brunch. Service is top notch but the kitchen is slow to bring out food. We sat at the bar and M has come here often so we got to have an interesting chat with the bartenders. Shout out to Evan; the man knows his drinks - Bourdy cremant ($13.00) - M started the night out with some bubbly. - Nikolaihof ($14.00) - she then asked Evan or a white recommendation. This went perfectly with our oysters. - Cornas ($22.00) - next up was a red recommendation. This one is from Southern France area. Went very well with the pork ribs. - Vesper ($14.00) - M hasn't had one of these in four years. Gin, vodka and kina lillet. So smooth. Tastes like water. - Negroni ($14.00) - last drink for M. - Shot ($7.00) - I lied. They ordered a couple shots before we left which tasted like mint and anise. One was perfect. Two unnecessary. - Hacienda ($14.00) - I tried one of their cocktails. Mezcal, lime, cinnamon, pineapple and Korean chili oil. The chili oil was an interesting element. Surprisingly, it worked nicely. - Muscadet ($10.00) - their cheapest glass on their menu. To quote M, it was very "quaffable". Couldn't sum it up better. - Courgette blossom tempura, aubergine & moromi ($10.00) - to quote M again, this is one of her favourite appetizers of ALL time. It's small (you only get four pieces) but dammmmmn, she's right. Whatever they add inside the tempura was amazing! There's a slight heat too that elevates it to the next level. - Effin' oysters ($18.00 for 6) - these come with a cress vinegar mignonette. Fresh as always from Effin' Rob. Believe these were dill oysters. Yum. - Broek Acres berkshire pork ($28.00) - we saw people on our left and right getting pork ribs so we had to order the same. Portion size was fantastic. The ribs were cooked just right and seasoned perfectly. The brocollini had a slightly charred, smoky flavour while the pickled broccoli and charred onion vinegar added a light, refreshing contrast to the dish. Pretty cool that a cocktail bar like this serves ribs! - Stuffed aveyron pancakes ($16.00) - white cheese, Paris ham, Swiss chard, clover and tonka bean honey. This dish was very Montreal-esque. Somehow, these sweet and savoury flavours all worked in harmony together. This is a fun spot to grab multiple drinks and eat too! I'd come back in a heartbeat.

Came here to celebrate a friends birthday. As word had it this place definitely has cocktails on par. Sorry I can't remember the name but the cocktail I ordered was such an amazing combination of flavours. I do believe it had a Mexican name as the drink itself featured drops of chilli oil on top. It was just the right blend of sweetness and high quality liquor that left me wishes I had a DD. As for food think high quality small portions. You may be able to share some dishes as a couple but for the most part servings are definitely individual. The menu rotates frequently so don't expect to see the same dishes every time you visit. Of all the dishes I had pancakes were by far the best. The rabbit dish was oddly similar to a turkey dinner and my duck entree was overly salty and the duck was unfortunately chewy, possibly from being over cooked. My other friend also had the duck and she didn't find hers chewy at all. I guess I drew the short straw? To sum it up I'd say solid 5 for the cocktails, pricey but worth every penny. Food was sort of hit or miss. A roll of the dice. Wouldn't necessarily recommend.

What a wonderful dinner visit to Clementine. Nestled at the edge of downtown close to the west end of Jasper Ave, Clementine is a 1920's inspired bar/restaurant with beautiful Art Deco-era decor. The sign of the restaurant, in particular is so gorgeous and just translates the theme of the restaurant so well. The menu itself is innovation and inspiring - crispy potato with pickled potato on top? So unexpected and delicious. The drinks menu, in particular, is phenomenal. Not only do they have an impressive selection of absinthe, they also have a very interested list of European imported beer and cider, and an extensive wine list (even orange wine!) The kitchen is so accommodating as well, we had many allergies and diet restrictions at our table (nuts, fruits, vegan, dairy-free) and they were able to meet every single one of our demands. The food is so well presented and delicious - in particular the duck with duck egg, and the sourdough pancakes. I wish they would have a bigger menu, however, the chef is so good with whipping up a few items off the menu to accommodate our needs. A few items on the menu were unavailable, which was disappointing, however I completely understand that they want to use what's fresh and available in the season and hence the unavailability. The service was great and the food was wonderful. What a delightful spot in the downtown Edmonton bar/dining scene. I wish we had a spot in Vancouver like this as it would fit so perfectly in Gastown. I will absolutely come back again to try the other cocktails on the menu. Highly recommended for an intimate dinner or a romantic date night spot.

I loved Clementine so much I went back less than a month later, despite it being a lil' fancy (thus, pricey) for my usual routine. Both experiences were wonderful. First, let me tell you about all of the new and life changing drinks I discovered. Ask for a gin fizz - it's not on the menu, but ask for it. It tastes like those Rocket candies and the texture is super fun. Second, The Doctor is a delicious whiskey drink that comes with a tiny, vintage looking prescription attached - the note legitimately looks like it could have been from the prohibition era. The Sprout and Le Jardin were also both incredibly refreshing, crisp drinks. For food, you need the potatoes (I regret not taking a photo of them). The pickled potatoes in the mix taste like softer, better salt and vinegar chips and the mix of textures and flavours are perfect. The Brie (pictured) with berries also fantastic. Unfortunately I don't remember which main we tried (pork something or other), but it was cooked to perfection and, again, had some really unique and delicious flavour pairings I love the atmosphere too - cozy and intimate, with a bunch of really accommodating staff. Service was a little slow during peak time, but the quality completely made up for it. This is officially one of my new favourite spots in the city. Worth the price for sure.

This has got to be my new favourite cocktail bar in Edmonton. I generally frequent woodwork, North 53 or Three Boars, but lately the lack of innovation on their drink menus has been a little tiresome. And along came Clementine! After one visit I can definitely say that the atmosphere is quiet and intimate, the decor is simple and elegant, and the drinks are outstanding and original. I can't recall what exact drinks I ordered but they were all fantastic. Props to the service as well, it was quick and friendly and the server was also very knowledgeable and shared insight in concerns to certain cocktails. I will definitely be coming back to order from their menu, but also off of it since they make some amazing classic cocktails!

Slap on your sparkly dress and a pair of heels (or wear whatever the heck you want) and make your way to Downtown's pink palace! You'll remember this location as the former home of Fu's Repair Shop and Prairie Fish & Chips before that. The Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2024 list named Dolly's as Favourite Patio and the pictures that I've seen of the back terrace look completely adorable, complete with colourful lanterns. Unfortunately, my visit was in October and it wasn't quite patio weather anymore. I turned up on a Friday evening with one of my best girlfriends in tow and we were ready for the biggest Barbiecore night of our lives! Imagine our surprise when we discovered that Dolly's had been transformed into the "Black Lagoon" for the month of October in the spirit of Halloween. (I probably should have looked into this in advance but I was unaware!) I was expecting Cyndi Lauper and Aqua but instead I got Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson. The whole restaurant was draped in the most spider webs that I've ever seen. There were giant spiders hanging from the ceiling and spooky skeletons in every corner. It was a vibe, that's for sure!! But certainly not the one that I had been anticipating. Bits of pink paint and sparkly chandeliers peeked through in some areas and the neon "Dolly's" sign on the wall allowed me to imagine what the Barbie dreamhouse-esque space normally looks like just a little bit. Otherwise, Dolly's was fully transformed into the moody Black Lagoon. I should've worn fishnets instead of glitter. The servers were all very friendly and we were quickly seated at a comfortable table along the hot pink velour banquette. Dolly's invites you to sip, snack, and stay in their minor-free glamorous escape. The house cocktails and mocktails are a major part of the experience (it is a cocktail bar after all) and I was excited to get a cute pink beverage into my hand! There was also a menu of Black Lagoon-themed cocktails that were all served in fun tiki-style vessels. This menu included themed foods as well. I personally had my eye on the Pink Palace Royale cocktail which I saw on the menu online. Made with a special collab gin with Strathcona Spirits and Licor 43 (one of my favourite liqueurs), this sounded like everything that I wanted in a cocktail and more! Other drinks had names like Dolly's Dreamhouse, Bubbilicious, and the house shot was called the Bend & Snap - exactly the sort of drinks that I had come for! However, I was sorely disappointed when the server told me that the drink I wanted was no longer on the menu. It seemed that I could only order a Halloween beverage. I fumbled to find anything that Elle Woods would approve of and settled on a mocktail called Pretty in Pink (Strawberry, cream of coconut, lime, soda, mint - $9.00) and the server suggested that the bar could add vanilla vodka to turn it into a proper cocktail. I agreed. Honestly, I was just relieved to get something pink onto the table! I enjoyed this icy-fresh cocktail a lot and it delivered most of what I had been hoping for. The sweetness of the strawberry and coconut was really fun! The lime and mint added a mojito flair. A very cute and well-composed beverage but I was sad that most of the girly drinks didn't seem to be available. When it comes to eats at Dolly's the food is what you would expect to see at a party, with the idea of sharing at the heart. I loved the idea of Dolly's Funhouse (which is an epic plate of nachos), and dishes like wings, tacos, and mac & cheese. However, the dish to order at Dolly's has gotta be the Girl Dinner (Truffle tots, chickie tendies, aji verde, aji rocoto, pineapple sweet & sour, Dolly's salad - $50.00 for two). It's a must-share so grab your girlies and prepare to chow down! They had me at tots. The Girl Dinner platter arrived looking extremely appetizing and somehow exactly what I wanted to be eating in a place that looked like this. The portion was exactly right for two people and I loved the pretty floral printed plates that we were given to dish our tots and tendies onto. As previously mentioned, I enjoy a tot. (I have a suspicion that Napoleon Dynamite really imprinted on me.) But truffle tots? Now that's just a home run! Topped with sea salt, truffle oil, and parmesan cheese, these golden potato nuggets were fried to perfection with a crispy outside and a soft and fluffy inside. I could have eaten them all. They were awesome to dunk into each of the sauces and when the rest of the food was gone we were still popping tots into our mouths. We couldn't even finish them all because the portion was so generous! The star of the meal were the chickie tendies; two giant chicken tenders, of which we each got our own. I loved this chicken! The batter was really flavourful and unique, and oh so crispy-crunchy. The chicken within was very tender and juicy, proving that an elevated chicke

My husband went with Braised Chuck Flatserved on fresh grits, glazed in demi. Cocktails were carefully crafted and the food came out in a timely manner. Food was excellent. The mushroom salad was full of flavour and cooked properly. The spicy rigatoini was excellent with just enough heat from the habanero sauce. However, the real start was the braised chuck which melted with a tap of the fork. The grits were well cooked and a good accompaniment. We were stuffed but I would like to try thier desserts in the future. Cocktail prices were high but in the same price range as other fancy cocktail bars. The food prices were the same as many other places but with higher quality. Definately try this place out. I am looking forward to my next visit.
