I love the place! Parking is not an issue, the restaurant is big and well designed and you have a lot of seating options! Staff (From greeters to waitresses) are all friendly, patient and helpful. We had two seniors with us with a lot of demands and I found the staff were very patient, and kind and they tried their best to satisfy them! We've never been to Joey Edmonton, but we've eaten there in a few other cities, and have never had a bad meal. This experience will bring us back again the next time we are there for sure. We met a friend we haven't seen in far too long, so we took our time with the meal. Our server, Anzhela was excellent and did not rush us at all even though it was a Friday evening and the place was fairly busy. It's a typical Joey's, classy and dark with booths, high tops and tables scattered throughout the restaurant and bar. It's not over the top at all, but upscale without seeming full of itself. Our food was top notch, well prepared and presented. Again, hate to say it, but a typical Joey experience, it's why we seek out the name in whatever city we happen to be staying. The lovely K had the 6 oz sirloin steak with the crispy potatoes which was very good. The steak was not even side to side, so maybe a little over on the skinny end. My chicken parm was also great, the pasta cooked perfectly with little red peppers that added a bit of heat. Our guest enjoyed the blackened chicken, and the warm potato salad a great deal. We had dinner on what turned out to be their first night of reopening at JOEY and everything was absolutely wonderful. The drinks were perfect (vodka martini for me, beer for my husband), the starter was great (gyoza), and the mains were awesome (steak and sushi, fish for me). We finished up with the crème brûlée cheesecake, which was recommended by our wonderful server, Fatemah. Lovely experience all around!!!! read more

They said our server wasn't ready for us? 1 minute after sitting down we get asked if we know what we want. No ma'am we just sat down. She was not approachable, or pleasant to talk to. She might have been having a bad day but she talked monotone and by my assumption she appeared to not want to be serving us. The food took a long time to arrive. It was good guacamole, wouldn't order again the ratio for chips and dip was not ideal. My friend did not like her food, came with in one spot on her sandwich crispy onions. My meal was good, the chicken lacked flavour though. Overall will not be coming back again. Even though I love the crispy mashed potatoes. The service put me off big time. read more

We were headed over to a different restaurant to use up a gift card and discovered it wasn't open until 3 in spite of having a "lunch menu." Oh well... Hubby (master lunch picker) suggested Joey Mayfield. Yeah baby, let's roll! We arrived and were pleased with all the safe COVID protocols in place. We asked to be seated in the lounge in a big cozy booth. Seriously it was huge! The hostess & server were prompt & efficient. I ordered fish tacos with Parmesan truffle fries on the side. I cannot overstate the fact that these fries are KILLER! Especially with the creamy aioli to dip them into! The tacos were scrumptious. Flaky fish, creamy avocado and fresh veg made me miss travelling to Mexico! Anyway, they nailed it. I wish there were more in the plate! Hubby got the California chicken sandwich with a side Caesar salad. He said it was delicious. We're just starting to enjoy dine-in service again, and I could not be happier with our choice. Ps. For our wedding anniversary we picked Joey Mayfield as it is suppose to be a better than average dinning establishments, it was not. Had one of the worst services in a restaurant in quite some time. Started off with the greeting at the front door. The person working the door was on the phone and never turned around to acknowledge us, a server eventually noticed and sat us. We then sat for about 10 min without even someone looking in our direction, would have sat longer if I hadn't I asked a passing staff member if she knew who I server was. Our server showed up and apologized, we were hoping that this was the beginning of an enjoyable evening , nope. Our table had a direct view of the pick-up window. We saw the order at the window and watched it site there for a good 15 min before it was delivered to the table. By that time it was of course cold, after waiting 20 minutes we had to flag down another server walking by to have them return the meal and replaced. When it came back of it was given to us and again not one person checked in to see if the replacement was to our satisfaction. Also not once in the entire time we were there did anyone ever offer to refill the water or drinks. The server did take one of the meals off the bill however given the experience and total lack of service I had to complain that the bill was still too high and something further needed to be done. What I received was an additional $17.00 removed and an apology from our server who started out with this was her fault and should not have happened then proceeded to explain how her "Team" let her down by not checking in. Nice restaurant to spend an evening with friends or family. Been here many times with different people and it was a fantastic experience each time. The ambiance is beautiful, low lighting, one part of the restaurant has a reflecting pool with water which is very nice to sit next to, washrooms are very nice and clean. There's one separate room in front of the entrance where curtains are used for some privacy. Great for a special party or birthday, it can fit about 12 -16 people I believe. The food is excellent, I've tried so many items. They have a happy hour menu featuring drink and food from 3-6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close. The California chicken club sandwich was delicious as was the side house salad. My husband had the steak frites, his steak was cooked perfectly and very flavourful. Came to Joey on a Wednesday evening. And surprisingly this place was much busier than I thought for a Wednesday. Joeys has a great space. Part of the restaurant has three large garage doors that can be opened when it's nice out. Which give it a great outdoor, yet indoor feel. Upon entry, there is a host that greets and gets you to your table. We then had what we thought was our server come by for drinks. Then a 2nd server came by and asked us if we had questions with the menu... we were a bit confused as we thought the first person was our server. When we asked about this... we got this very confusing story/process of "triple seating, blah, blah blah..." Ok, sure, are you going to take my order for food ? Ordered and went with the Yellowfin Tuna Salad. My wife went with The Butcher's Sandwich. The food came out in a timely manner (which is to say not fast, but not slow either). When I got my Yellowfin Tuna, I was definitely underwhelmed. The slices of tuna were very thin and the portion size was much smaller than what I thought it should be. The salad was good, but nothing overly great. My wife had the Butcher's Sandwich which is effectively a Beef Dip. It was quite good and was much more substantive than the salad (and for less $$s). Overall, the service was good, but it's a bizarre model. The food was ok, but considering it's a pretty premium price tag, I would have expected better. I just wasn't feeling the love for Joey. I have been to this Joey's many times over the years. In the past two months, I have been there three times at not busy times. Each time the services has been terrible. On one visit, I asked for a refill on my drink 6 times before I got it. Another time they did not listen to how I wanted the food, (like not tomatoes, extra ketchup etc). When I gave them feedback , they are so defensive saying it is not their fault, they are too busy an not enough workers. I will not be back. I will switch restaurants for both personal and business occasions. read more

Joey's is a solid choice. Nothing super duper. But enjoyable. I had some gift cards that need to be used. I decided on a weekend lunch as my opportunity. There was nearly no one there which is ideal. However, the service was incredibly slow. Though it almost felt like our server was I'm charge of too many tables and the others not enough. That being said, she was a very nice server when she did interact with us. I decided that I don't like lettuce wraps. The stuff that went into the lettuce wraps was really good, but the whole lettuce wrap situation was too ... cumbersome to be enjoyable. The tuna club is big! I really like the bun. No, this isn't some guy's name. Mayfield is the mall. Parking is plentiful in the lot out front. The inside has the nice wood (2 tones) and brushed metal theme I like so much. Service was decent, with the server telling us about drink specials, and taking the time to explain the different flavours. Calamari - nice crispy pieces. Spicy mayonnaise is nice, but I would've prefered tzatsiki. The ribs I had were very well done. The meat came off the bone easily, but also clumped together enough to not just fall into shreds. The fries were nice and crispy. I was surprised at how good this was, as most other places burn the crap out of the ribs. Chocolate supreme - 2 (one white, one black) dessert "cakes". Served with blackberries. Just the right size and sweetness. Most other desserts are way too huge and/or sugary. For drinks I tried their Blueberry super nova. I was expecting something sickeningly sweet (*cough* Bellini *cough*) but this drink gets it just right. Sweet enough to be fruity, but not cavity-causing. I think this is my new favourite drink at the restaurant. Special mention here. Usually I'm not a fan of chain restaurants, but Joey does get things right if you don't mind paying a few bucks more. I called to make a reservation a few days before but they were all booked up for reservations at 5PM and later so I asked if we arrived earlier if we could get a table and she said likely. I arrived first around 4:30PM and was asked if we wanted to be seated in the lounge or dining room. The lounge seemed hopping but when I was shown a table in the dining room, it was about 20% full and lots of room. As the others arrived by 5, the dining room was still about 50% occupied. Not sure the understanding of why I couldn't make a reservation but that's ok. Happy we got a table and it wasn't too noisy. Our table was just passed the curtain from the lobby, and at times I felt a little cool. It' was a little dark even with candles lit on the tables. The menu has appies, sandwiches, few burgers, sushi, salads, steak, and entrees. I ordered the half rack ribs that came with dill slaw ($21), and substituted fries for yam fries for a $1.75. Our food came out timely after ordering. My ribs were very tender, and had the right amount of bbq sauce so not too tangy and messy. The meat was fall off the bone and so good! The ribs were served on top of the slaw and you could taste the dill. It was lightly dressed and not soaked in dressing. The yam fries came with mayo dip and very good too. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. My table mates had chicken souvlaki, butter chicken (spicy), beef dip, and ravioli with shrimp. They all enjoyed their meals as well. I didn't order dessert but a few had the molten lava chocolate souffle. It was served with vanilla bean ice cream and fresh raspberries. It smelled and looked good! We were celebrating a friend's birthday and they wrote Happy Birthday on her dessert plate. The baked to order apple pie wasn't as much a hit as my friend didn't like the toasted almonds. It was apples in a pastry folded over top. This dessert could have been shared with another. Service throughout was good with lots of people removing our empty plates and glasses. There was a time when we didn't see the server and wanted drinks but she came by a few minutes later and brought them. After dinner she brought separate bills to each of us and promptly brought the machine over for those paying with card. Great food and atmosphere. Will definitely be back! read more

Where can you go on the West End that is always packed, always has pretty girls serving decent food with a smile on their face? Joeys in Mayfield of course. Yes, it is a chain, but if you are way out in the west end pretty much everything is! Are the drinks a bit over priced? Ya, but if you go with the special of the day you get a great deal. Is the food good for you? Hell no, that's why it tastes soooo good!! You know when you go to any Joeys/Earls ect what to expect... but I will say one thing; on a super snowy day when the flakes are falling faster than the temperature outside, the Indoor Patio lounge with the infinity pool is an oasis in our snowy city!! As we all know - during New Year's Eve most fine dining restaurants are fully booked. Mitchell and I decided to opt for a casual night out at JOEY. Though this wasn't our first visit - like all other guests at a restaurant - I had my common expectations. To start off our palate - we had the Japanese Gyoza and Chilli Chicken. Both were light and easy to eat. As for our mains - Mitchell had his usual Bombay Butter Chicken and I had the Ravioli with sautéed prawns. The Ravioli with sautéed prawns was beautifully done with a good amount of creamy sauce to go with my spinach and artichoke stuffed ravioli. On top of that beautiful Ravioli - I had asked for some chicken breast to go with it. It was delicious. Quite satisfying - I must admit. As for the service- there was a lack of attentiveness. Our server failed to ask us how our food were even when he was filling up our glasses with water. I like to believe our server had forgotten to ask since he had asked the other table who came after us. Oh well, bless his little cotton sox! No doubt - JOEY's food have a good sense of standard and quality whereas the service is nothing worthy to brag about. It was an overall average dining experience. read more

Four of us had lunch on February 15. I think the kitchen needs to figure out how to get hot food to the table. Everything was lukewarm, even the coffee! There's nothing more unappealing than a cheeseburger with congealed cheese. Probably won't return as there were dead insects behind the booth where I wanted to stash my bag. Saturday March 23 @ 9:18pm my family arrived for a late dinner. The hostess greeted us in a very friendly manner, and was advised there was a short wait time. So far so good........ then something caught my attention. Of the 3 groups sitting waiting (all non Asian), at least one person from the group was holding a glass of champagne. I thought nothing of it at first. Then a couple came in (of a nationality other than Asian). The hostess advised them of the wait time, then were offered a "complimentary" glass of champagne. Okay, maybe she, the hostess, just forgot my wife and I. I can let it go, and forget about. Do understand, I don't drink, and would have declined the glass anyways. Around 9 minutes later, we were seated by our friendly server. The server was nice, quick and friendly. She did well explaining the dishes. So A+ for the server. Now it's 9:31pm, and where we were seated gave me a direct line of sight to the waiting area. Another couple came in (non Asian), and were greeted, advised of the wait time, then the hostess motioned her hands at the champagne bottle beside the hostess station and gave a glass of champagne to the nice couple. Now something smells fishy. At 9:41pm, a young Asian couple came in, it was a bit loud, and i could hear. However, I noticed they were motioned to be seated in the waiting area. Just based hand gestures, it was obvious to me that the hostess did not point or motion toward the bottle of champagne sitting in the ice bucket unlike the last 2 couples. After that 3 other groups came in, but went straight to the lounge or were seated without waiting. How is it that when we arrived the 3 waiting groups had a glass, and 2 other waiting groups were given a glass? Either by coincidence or something else the only 2 Asian groups were not offered a drink while waiting an excess of 5 minutes. I don't know really what to think, but the hostess left a bad impression. The server, the opposite, she was excellent. I can't be 100% sure Oops, the food itself was very good, all came together and was quick. You gotta have the Molten Chocolate cake with ice cream. read more

The thing that really brings me back are the huge windows and the great water feature (it's like sitting by a pool) which soaks up the noise. Love love love it here. I contacted Joeys re their lettuce wraps as I wasn't happy about the chicken lettuce wraps we picked up curb side. It wasn't 24 hours before I heard back from joeys and I must say they listened to me and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. As far as chains go... Joey is one of my favourites. I love the South Common location, but Mayfield is much closer for me now. They make a delicious steak and the Chili Chicken has always been my go to appy. But something was just missing at this location. I can't even pinpoint what it was. The Chili chicken seemed a little weak, and the crispy mashed potatoes did too. Again... it's not something I can describe, there was just something missing. We were there on a Sunday evening, so it was not overly busy, but there were still a number of tables occupied. While our server was attentive, he would disappear for far too long at a time. Overall, it was a pleasant enough experience that I would return - but would prefer to head to the Southside or even Sherwood Park before hitting up this location again. read more

I have been to other Joeys and they were much better experiences. We were offered drinks and told our waitress name. She was very friendly but seemed very over whelmed and under pressure I could see how many tables she had and it seems like the norm amount but this girl was struggling. I ordered shrimp flat bread it was very tasty really enjoyable my friend ordered the sliced beef on a roll I've had this before in another joeys this looked the same but it was not. The beef was stringy, tasteless and way to much of that beef on the bread. When I had it before the beef was so tasty and easy to eat. This was not it seemed old or like a cheap cut of beef, it took ages to get our waitress over so my friend just decided to take most of the meat off and eat the bread. She decided a cup of coffee and dessert will be nice since she was not satisfied again we finished and could not get the attention to clear and order dessert when she did see us nod and slightly wave at her she came cleared and asked if we'd like our bills? We just said yes and left. We went to a bakery and had coffee and cake at home. read more

We (a group of 10) visited this location for our work Christmas party in January. The server appeared to be attentive in the beginning and returned often to check our drinks. Once we ordered we saw a lot less of our server. When our food was delivered 2 people requested condiments and other items that never arrived and the drinks were no longer filled . Four people at our table requested a glass of water along with their alcoholic beverages but none of them received their water. Besides the initial 'how is everything' immediately after the food arrived no one came to the table. The group collectively agreed that the food was excellent but the service was sub-par and the server was overall not attentive once we placed our orders . read more

Beware if you have food allergies: I came to Joey's in Mayfield Common with my co-workers for a lunch meeting today. I was recently diagnosed with a dairy and soy allergy, so I advised the server of this. I ordered the Beach Salad, which I thought would be a safe choice. I asked him to skip the goat cheese just in case and to check if the dressing had dairy. He brought me the salad without goat cheese but it had the dressing on it so I assumed it was safe. He never stated that it was, which was partly my fault for not confirming that he had actually checked if it was safe for me to eat. After about half an hour of eating it, I broke out into hives and got a terrible stomach ache. I assume that either the chicken in it was cooked in butter or the dressing had dairy or soy in it. I thankfully don't have a serious allergy to milk or soy, but for someone who does, this is very dangerous. The servers and chefs need to be more careful! On the other hand, my food did taste good and my co-workers enjoyed their meals, but the experience was greatly reduced by my allergic reaction. read more

When you are on the road two out of three weeks, places start to run together. Moxies . . . Chop . . . Milestone . . . Earl's . . . they are all the same damn place with just a different name. Joey's has the same template. It appears on paper to look the same, but once you sit down, you will understand this place is different and is well worth time. Meal: I have ate here two times. My most recent visit on Monday included a peppercorn New York Strip with "crispy mash potatoes", green beans, and a Whistler Whiskey Jack Pale Ale. Taste: I don't want to sound like a schmuck but most places in Canada don't know how to get the right done-ness in a steak. Joey's did a good job on hitting medium rare. The sauce was perfect. It was complex and enjoyable - it went will the seasoning crust on the steak. The crispy mash potatoes were excellent. Different, but excellent. The green beans were decent at best, but aren't most green beans just "blah"? The beer was awesome, one of my favorite Canadian beers out there . .. not that Joey's had too much to do with it. Interesting enough though, most places I have visited in the area don't seem to clean their lines often and the beer taste musty. Such a thing didn't happen at Joey's. 9 out of 10. Value: Not bad. Not great but not wonderful. I feel like most of my reviews are usually in the middle of the pack but ironically, when I think of middle-of-the-road value places, Joey's will be what I think of in the future. 3 out of 5. Service/Cleanliness: Service was awesome. I sat at the bar, which is usually a no-no for me, but I decided to do it anyways. The bartender was incredibly freindly and attentive. I might have to claim that Joey's is the best service I have had in Edmonton 10 out of 10. Atmosphere: Most other places in Joey's category have an "out of the box" feel to them. Joey's didn't exactly have that feel. It had more of a sophisticated, well defined theme and atmosphere. The place doesn't have a great view but the overall decor is just right. Any more it would be too much and any less, it would feel like it didn't go far enough. 5 out of 5. Overall: I am already planning my next visit. I just have to pace myself . . . one day at a time. 27 out of 30 points, 5 out of 5 stars. read more

Joey's has always been one of my fave places to catch up with friends over drinks and food, whether it be south (don't go as often only because hate driving to southside ha), west or down town. It's a tie between going to this one and the down town one, as both are only 15 minutes from me, but I go to the westend one to accommodate my westend living friends (yes, I'm a great guy). Always a great atmosphere. Went last night to watch a bit of the hockey playoff games. I got served right away, however, my buddy who came later had to wait over 15 minutes before someone came over. But that was the only low point, as once we got a new waitress she was awesome and kept coming by to check on us. I went to the old favorite, the Ahi Tuna burger with yam fries ($16 plus $1.75 for yam fries sub). I really need to try something new when I come here, but it always pulls me in haha. The only thing I can gripe about is the Stella's here are more than most places I go to ($8.50) for a pint, but that's minor, as I have my fave beer, Shock Top (nice citrus with hint of orange). Our server was nice and chatted it up with us, and as per all Joey's, easy on the eyes....hey when I write a review I give all the good with the bad :) I would have to rank the big franchises like this as 1. Joey's 2. Earl's 3. Moxies. Cactus Club isn't on here because I have yet to go to one, hopefully will remedy that in the future. read more
