Honey garlic chicken wings

We decided to check out Moxies on a Saturday night and overall the experience was mediocre. When we arrived there was tons of parking and no wait to get seated. The hostesses were friendly and quickly got us seated. We sat in the lounge. It felt higher end and the lighting was nice. A huge bonus that they had the UFC fights on which was really nice. Overall, I would say it was a very expensive outing. The appetizers were $17+ dollars each. The main courses we ordered ranged from $25 to $40. For appetizers, we got the honey garlic chicken wings (which were delicious) and the dry ribs. The dry ribs tasted very bland and were a huge disappointment considering the steep price. For the main course we had a burger, pasta and steak. They did forget some of the dips but the friendly waitress quickly fixed this. Everyone enjoyed their meals. My only feedback is that it would be nice to have the option to trade out the squash that comes with the steak for a different side especially considering the meal is expensive. It was a nice night out but I don't think we would return. The value for money seems to have a disconnect as they charge a premium price for an average offering.

Great, a place that you can make a reservation on a Saturday evening! I called a few weeks before the date to book a table for 7 on Saturday at 6PM and was able to do so. There were people waiting for a table when we arrived so nice to be seated right away. The one side of the table was right up against the wall so not good for those who need more room. The server was prompt throughout the evening with taking our orders and bringing our drinks. The food didn't take too long for a full Saturday evening and the staff looked like they were all busy to ensure food was coming out timely. Nothing really jumped out as a try me dish so I had a turkey club with sweet potato fries. It's the type of meal that you can't go wrong with and a boring one too. But for this meal, it was satisfying enough. They charge an extra $3 for the sweet potato fries instead of french fries. My table mates had burger, beef dip, fish tacos, chicken, and beef vindaloo, and everyone agreed their meal was good or alright. For the birthday girl, she received a bite of brownie, which is always a great treat to end a meal. The server brought us separate bills and his colleague helped him with machines for anyone paying by card. Another alright meal at Moxies but likely will be a while before my next visit.

Most of the time I do enjoy the food at Moxie, but this time I wasn't really impressed by the appetizers we ordered. I was meeting a friend in this part of the city and Moxie was one of the restaurant that was open a little later than the others. This Moxie was a very chic and had a lot of beautiful modern decors. The layout of the restaurant was easy to map out and the ambiance was a sweet romantic calmness . It was a quiet evening with a few couples in the dining room this evening. I like that they had a coat rack around the booth so we could hang our coats instead of having to squish our jackets inside our booth. We sat close to the kitchen, so we were able to see what everyone was up to. The server was great, she came around to refill our waters and check on us on many occasions, but some reason she also seem like she was struggling with communicating with us in a customer friendly manner. Or maybe she was annoyed with my friend who had a little too much to drink and was talking a lot! LOL We ordered the Sweet Chili Chicken that came with there hand-cut chipotle potato chips. The breaded chicken pieces were really soggy and it didn't look appealing at all. The Mosaic Dip was made with Quebec goat cheese, mushrooms & fresh tomatoes and it came with naan bread. I nibbled on some of the food and was quickly turned off, because it didn't taste fresh out of the kitchen. The food looked old and it didn't taste good at all. The description of the food on the menu was very appealing, but unfortunately we got a bad batch of food this evening.

Moxie's is one of my favourite restaurants. It's trendy, has a great atmosphere and is close to my house. I've been here for not just dinner, but also for lunch and happy hour and have been pleased with the quality of food and drinks. On the other hand, service can been hit and miss depending on what time of the day and what day of the week you go. My favourite drink is the candy apply martini. Yup, these are dangerous little ditty's. Talk about a girly drink drunk if you're not careful. They also have a great rack of ribs and recommend any of their desserts. They have a movie and dinner deal on as North Edmonton Cinema's is right behind them. So, if you're looking for a night out stop in for dinner then carry on for a movie.

I am a huge fan of Caesars. However, Moxies served me the most brutal Caesar I've had in a long time. Lack of flavor and "pizazz" has soured me from coming back to Moxies for a drink. There was a garnish in the Casear, that the server said was a slice of dried mango on a skewer with spices on it. Turns out, it was a stale tortilla. Go figure. Maybe it was an off day? Not sure, but makes me reluctant to try again.

Avocado rolls, fabulous!

Their website says "DJ's Lounge and Café", their facebook page is "DJ's Lounge and Pizzaria", and on their menus it is "DJ's Lounge and Pizzeria". No matter what you call it though, it's a good place to go. It's a smaller place. I would say 12 - 20 tables, though I didn't actually count them. On one side of the restaurant is tall tables and chairs, and on the other side is booths. But the booths are a little strange and hold 3 people comfortably... 4 if you don't mind hitting elbows. Now, onto the food. I attended a "cash mob" event, which was set up as a buffet, rather than order off the menu. Items presented to us were Hummus, pita chips, Fatoush salad, lasagna, and MULTIPLE pizzas. Although it was appreciated, I think they made waaaay too much food lol But honestly, everything was really good. A couple of reasons that I knocked a star off. The lasagna and pizza were both really tasty, BUT they were pretty greasy. Also, there is only one female and one male washroom... which just seems silly for a place that sells alcohol. But... the washrooms were clean, so that's good. The owner came out and talked with us for a bit. He explained his vision and why he loves his business. From what I can see on facebook, they seem to do a LOT of business with Skip the Dishes. So, check them out for delivery!

Known for classic Canadian fare with a modern twist, this restaurant has been around since 2017 and has been St. Albert's most coveted date night spot ever since. Chef and owner Dan Ducharme has been in the game for a long time and his culinary vision is allowed to shine within Riverbank's historic walls. Using ingredients from the best local producers; such as seafood from Effing Seafoods (Rob is everyone's favourite fishmonger), whatever sparks inspiration at the St. Albert Farmers' Market, and of course beef and cheese from a producer that requires no introduction; Lakeside Farmstead, the plates at Riverbank Bistro promise fresh comfort food with an elevated air. In fact, it was Jeff Nonay (a name synonymous with quality) of Lakeside Farmstead who arranged for my dinner and I couldn't have been more excited to taste his famed products, prepared under Chef Ducharme's expertise. I visited on a Saturday evening and you certainly cannot miss the iconic building that Riverbank Bistro resides in. With its burgundy exterior and dramatic spires, this converted estate now contains several businesses, one of them being the restaurant. Perched along the river, you will be treated to idyllic views to accompany your meal. The inside of the dining room is refreshed and modern while carefully maintaining the original character that makes the building so special. Expect charcoal-wrapped banquettes, rustic wood, and statement lighting. Whisked to our comfortable table, it wasn't long before each and every other seat within view was occupied and the room was filled with the din of happy diners. Our server was exceedingly prompt and professional, revealing that we would be treated to a special five-course chef's table experience. I absolutely could not wait to get started. Chef Ducharme himself made the time to greet us at our table, narrowly escaping the intensity of his busy kitchen. He managed to personally deliver our dishes, describing each one and its ingredients with care. What a unique privilege! I'm a cocktail girl and had to begin my adventure with a Strawberry Vanilla Mojito (Fresh strawberries, Bumbu rum, vanilla liqueur, mint, lime - $16.00), prepared by the skilled barstaff. Perfect to sip on while reminiscing on the summer that just was, I enjoyed this fresh and fruity take on a classic. Muddled strawberries and mint leaves mixed playfully with the flavours of vanilla and lime. Just my kind of drink! The first course to arrive was a showstopper; Quahog Clams sourced by St. Albert's own Effing Seafoods. Served in a kimchi broth that was made with sun-dried tomato and saffron then dotted with emerald-coloured chive oil, this dish was bursting with big umami flavour! The portion consisted of a generous number of clams, each one large and juicy. However, it was the perfectly executed broth that I could have lived in. The provided triangles of sourdough were necessary for sopping up every last delicious drop. Next to arrive was a beautiful Fall Risotto, showcasing the best ingredients of the season. This unique risotto was made with a grain similar to barley or farro instead of traditional Arborio rice. Not only did this create an innovative and Canadian twist on a classic dish but the larger grains delivered a rustic plate. Each bite was chewy and nutty which was highlighted perfectly by the bright orange pieces of tender kabocha squash throughout. Mustard and sunflower seed added texture, while the housemade chicken jus (inspired!) brought decadence. The pickled components went a far way to achieve balance. Delicate curls of greens sat atop it all along with a sprinkling of Alpine cheese from Lakeside Farmstead. Each bite was rich and delicious, taking the concept of a warm fall comfort dish and elevating it to something thoughtful and elegant. Truly autumn in Alberta on a plate. The third course consisted of a Strawberry Sorbet palate cleanser which was a great way to pause and refresh the meal after the starter courses. Served with lemon zest and basil, the perfectly spherical scoop was sitting in a small pool of extra virgin olive oil. Beautifully fragrant, this sorbet was ultra creamy with very few ice crystals. A perfect match to my Strawberry Vanilla Mojito cocktail as well! Then it was time for the main dishes and they were more than what we could have wished for! Two gorgeous, high-quality, well-marbled, Nonay Strip Loin Steaks, each cooked to a medium-rare perfection. Each plate was accompanied by Lakeside Farmstead Fromage Blanc mash (their beef and cheese on one plate - chef's kiss!), sautéed spinach and mushrooms, and a black garlic jus. The really cool part was that each steak had been dry-aged for a different amount of time and it was very neat to taste and compare the difference that 40 days makes. First up is the 80 Day Dry-Aged Strip Loin Steak. Visually, it was very evident that this

Yam fries were 10/10 - super crispy, well salted. Chicken sandwich was a moist and well cooked but not very flavorful. Liked the honey taste. Not enough slaw in my opinion but the garlic mayo was nice. Bun was super soft and fresh. Overall not the best or worst chicken sandwich. 8/10. Friend got the Cure. Fries were cooked well. Bottom ones were a touch extra salty they reported. gravy was very nice and light. poached eggs were WAY overcooked and totally hard boiled. Friend got the Central Breakfast sandwich. Liked this. Egg was still a touch runny which was expected and desired. Too bad it does not come with any sides so friend was hungry after. Dessert we tried the House-made doughnuts. Tasted fresh (not piping hot htough). Cinnamon sugar coating was nice. Very doughy but not raw. Dip was super watery and tasteless. Would have preferred more smaller donuts to increase how much sugar topping you get per bite. Overall I would not get again as they were pretty meh.

At first, I thought our group got that special treatment, but no, the hostess makes sure every group shares in the awkward experience. This whole interaction sets the vibe for the service to follow, and yes, it's very strange. It's like the restaurant wants your business, but then doesn't want you even there. Interesting business operations plan. The food is alright, a little overpriced for the actual quality you are getting. Personally, avoid this place, it pretends to be sort of high-end, but it has ghetto service. Go to Earls instead, a restaurant that actually wants your business.

We had to walk up and speak to either the floor manager who seemed to not care and our waitress interrupted and told us the bar was slow and she put our order in a while ago and they are right there. He brought our dinner out NOT our waitress. To end the whole horrible experience we also had to ask a "manager" for our dessert as we did not get it until the show had started. Our waitress did not ever once come ask how things were if we wanted further drinks or anything. The managers did not seem too worried about our experience either. I would not recommend this venue to anyone after last night.
