We came here for a pint and some eats,, we arrived during the afternoon happy hour and to my surprise the happy hour menu was really good!! We each had a burger and fries. The price was right and service was good. This place reminded me of a mountain lodge, very cozy and quaint with a whole lot of board games to play, off to the side. I will definitely be back!! I'm staying at the connected hotel next door. After my first dinner at Mr Mikes I saw no reason not to come back the next two evenings. The Gaucho steak was great as was the Chinatown Stir Fry. I'm here now but haven't had my hamburger yet. I anticipate it'll be just great though. read more

Mr. Mikes is hard to beat for Happy Hour or Game Day specials. They offer both food and drink specials during Oilers Games and my kiddos thoroughly enjoy being allowed to sit in the lounge while munching down. Even though steak is in the name, I wouldn't recommend them as my go to for steaks - burgers and delicious sides but not steaks. I have found that their steaks (and even hamburgers) lack seasoning - that something extra that makes the meat feel full of flavour and juicy before grilled. But the sauces and sides here are excellent. My kiddos LOVE love LOVE their Lodge Chips (and the chipotle side sauce is good on just about the entire menu). I really like the garlic fries! The kids menu is decent but I have noticed at both this location and the one in WEM that we get charged for a kid's pop ($4) even though the menu says they are included so it must have to do with how they get rung in? Just be sure to double check before you pay. Not a huge deal but on one of my visits I had three kiddos with me so that was a $12 difference on the bill. A nice option here is that you can sub out your sides or upgrade them for about a bazillion options, okay maybe not a bazillion but quite a lot! I think on one of our recent visits I upgraded my fries for lobster Mac 'n Cheese (I think it was an extra $5 but pretty darn yummy). Stopped in at Mr Mikes tonight for dinner. Had never been to this establishment so did not know what to expect. started with the Panko shrimp for an appie, looks like it was fresh out of the freezer from a bag from Safeway. Bordering on terrible, then I had the Cajun Chicken with Garlic fries and veggies. Was underwhelmed to say the least. The chicken was severely overcooked. The blackening seasoning had a funny taste to it. Not sure the spices but for me was not a good taste. My wife had the Kick ass chicken salad, we enjoyed it and said it was good. Our wait staff was very friendly and I made sure she received a fair tip. Not her fault the food was yuk (mine anyways) Not sure I'll return. If I do perhaps just stick with Burger and a beer. That seems to be there specialt. Ambiance-the acoustics in this place were horrid. Sound bouncing off the walls, loud music making everyone. talk loud. Perhaps some acoustic dampening would help the popping echos. read more

This has become our go-to place for special occasions with the family. It can get a little pricey if you go all out, but you can keep it quite affordable as well. Most recently, we took our family of 4 (2 adults, 1 teen, 1 pre-teen) for valentine's dinner. I made a reservation via OpenTable, as I usually do. We were seated right away and service was great throughout the visit. My boyfriend and I both ordered steaks. They were cooked well, though they lacked a seasoning. My one complaint is about their side ceasar salad, as it is usually quite dry. I also had the Vancouver Island Iced Tea (delicious), and he had a peach bellini (also delicious.... but not as good as mine!). Also at my table, we ordered the seafest fettucini and the Mike's Burger. The Mike's burger is always very popular in my family, but personally, I find it a hassle that it's served on a bagette rather than a traditional bun.... and everyone laughs at me if I try to use a knife and fork to eat it lol That's fine though, I like steak better any way ;) read more

Mr. Mike's what can you say, it was very great. I hadn't been to a location since the last one closed on Vancouver Island. So I totally forgot about the place. We were looking for somewhere for good burgers and steak I somehow remembered this place I've been passing on St. Albert Trail. I am so glad we went. The New York steak was very good, as well as the steak and lobster. The kid had one of my childhood favourites, a 'lil Mike burger and when the waitress came to asked how the food was, he yells out "Yummy!!" so that sums it up for us. It was yummy and glad we got reconnected with this great Canadian franchise (it is Canadian, I think). Anyway if you are anywhere from Ontario and west (except for Vancouver Island) do give it a try. Of course they don't have the salad bar anymore, but heh, that's come and gone, probably a good thing. Enjoy and this location was great. We all got a chuckle from all the artwork with jokes all around. Next time I'll try to make sure I take pictures of the food, but I was too busy enjoying it. Dessert was good too. we had a party of 7 , 2 kids 5 adults . service was not good at all . took forever for food when salads came we asked for silverware , waited , had to ask again . finally silverware came and was thrown on table individually , not tied up , just thrown . refills took forever. shrimp sauce not like west end location. beef dip bun was soggy, lobster not cooked (son got sick ) was not impressed with whole outing. my son raved about Mr. Mikes , he frequents the west end one. it was his birthday and he wanted to go to Mr mikes and the north one was more convenient for others . if we knew service and food was different and sucked wouldn't have gone there. read more
