We ended up talking to the manager after basically threatening to dine and dash. Seriously guys, this experience was the worst I've ever had. Thank you to the manager who basically comp'd the whole meal cuz Jesus this sucked.

First opened in 1971 in North Vancouver, BC, it changed ownership a few times over the years, now being a Canadian owned restaurant chain across Canada and the US. The Keg is a high end steakhouse with all kinds of cuts when it comes to beef, aged and seasoned to definitely enhance the experience of steak eating. My ultimate meal preference at the Keg starts with a delicious Caesar salad and the baseball top sirloin cut, with sides of steak fries and vegetables. This is one of many beef cuts at the restaurant, but you can also find a wide diversity of appetizers, steak cuts, chicken, fish and seafood and sides. The Keg also has a full alcohol menu - beers, wine and cocktails. Let's not forget amazing desserts too - many times I am too full to get a plate of dessert though!!! I have been to a number of locations where the restaurant is modern - but for the seasoned and regular Keg customer, one would know that many restaurants are located in old renovated buildings. Whichever location you visit, the ambiance at any location is an experience in itself. As an high end restaurant, it is definitely a fancy dining experience. The serving staff is very friendly and professional, and service you get is great, fast and excellent. They can answer any questions you have and make suggestions when needed. Finally, the Keg is a great place to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, a date or any other reason you may have, and a meal experience you will not forget !!

Wonderful steaks and shrimp, mouthwatering! Be a little careful on busy nights, the shrimp (the very odd time) can be not clean/deveined or not the freshest. However, if you have any issues with a shrimp, they will replace the whole thing for you. Now that's customer service! Have never had an issue that they haven't dealt with in a calm, professional, friendly, respectful, and customer satisfactory way. Five stars.

We got seated at our table and then we waited...and waited...and waited... So the manager came by and asked us if we need anything and I replied, "Yeah a server." Apparently there was a mix up with communication and whose table was whose. It is gorgeous inside. Very sexy. Plush benches, silver tones, and blue lights. This would be a great place to be seen after a hockey game or something. Finally with our fixed menu in hand and some water. The manager asked us if we would like the wine paring for no extra charge. What a fabulous gift! We started out with the black truffle and brie aranchini. This is super rich and flavourful. Great texture on the outside and creamy goodness on the inside. My husband and I got one of each of the salads - Wedge and Ceasar. The portions were massive, so I am glad I got the wedge. I could pack it up and it was fresh and crisp the next day. Dressings on both of them were excellent I got the black sesame ahi tuna and my husband got the petite filet. Both were excellent but if I wanted to finish dessert I would have to get this packed for home. Finaly onto dessert my husband got the chocolate peanut butter bar, while I went with the strawberry pavlova. Both were fine, but the peanut butter bar was super rich. The wine pairings were excellent. Great place, even better when you have a super deal.

It was a bit too much for me, but we can't all like the same things. I think the staff might have recommended we not order two mashed potatoes, but otherwise service was sufficient and relatively attentive. Attention was given to my gf dietary needs, but no attempt at a gluten free bread was made, as has been done a similar high end establishments. Our waitress nearly gave our meal to another table, but fortunately was intercepted by another server. We arrived at 5:30 and got our meals at about 7:00. The ambiance was reminiscent of a high end pizza place- large marble topped tables to shout across. My lamb was a bit under done, but that was okay since I had allowed for that. I've had better lamb in my own home, but I admit I'm not a fan of char as the main flavour. It was very attractively plated and I liked most of the vegetables that shared the plate, excepting perhaps, one or two pieces of bitter greens. My two companions enjoyed their meals, both having ordered filet. The three of us wound up spending about $300.00, tip included.

I generally get added mushrooms to it, which is the best. Our steaks were cooked correctly. Sometimes I splurge for spaghetti instead of the baked potato, but this night I decided on the potato. It is always nice and steamy and they are very generous with the butter/bacon bits/green onion/sour cream. They do a lovely Caesar salad, but the soup of the day was clam chowder which was devine. Portions were good. Our server was friendly but busy. She accidently spilled wine on me so we she gave us an apple pie with ice cream on the house. It was good as well. Not much in terms on ambiance. Think of your grandma's basement interior and that is what you have. But who cares if the food is good!

We were there last night and they had "steak and lobster" on special. I haven't had lobster for about 30years, so decided on the special. When it arrived, sadly it appeared that they "broil" the lobster. Generally, boiling/poaching cooks it slowly, and keeps it moist like a little cloud of deliciousness. Some people LOVE broiling. I should have checked. Broiling (particularly when the place is packed - like it was - and I imagine they have to crank out a couple hundred of them) generally overcooks the outside and removes a lot of moisture. The steak (as usual) was great, and all the expected sides (baked potato etc.). The drink was great, and we laughed for hours (our gorgeous friend's birthday). We've been there many times (live a few minutes away). I've never - until last night - been disappointed. The birthday girl was having a great time so I just ate the dried out lobster with some extra butter (I like to add some Worcestershire sauce to it). After all, in terms of "first world problems" complaining that "my lobster is too dry" should never come out of my mouth.

He greeted us and said some new additions to the menu then took our drink order. Which gave us time to look over the menu and choose our steak option. My wife and I both had a 10 ounce filet mignon, hers a medium and mine a rare. Unfortunately upon arrival to our table the kitchen staff mixed up our steaks. She got the rare and I got the medium. By half way through we switched steaks so she could enjoy her meal better. Probably a common mistake since it was fairly busy in the restaurant. Food was exceptional for flavor as always and we will have to pop in again for a steak redemption meal. This time, hopefully the steaks come out correctly.

I mentioned my allergies and sensitivities and the manager was so diligent that she looked up ingredients to make sure I would be okay. I ordered a side of bearnaise sauce which we determined I may have issue with but I still ordered it. A little while later someone called me again to make sure I was aware of the allergen and wanted to confirm I still wanted it. I had to make sure I left a review because I was truly touched by the care and concern the staff at the Keg had for my wellbeing. Also, I ordered at a busy time! The steak was absolutely fabulous and I hope to visit for dine-in my next visit.

But when we walked in there was still plenty of seating inside. The front of house server was very friendly and seated us promptly. As I looked over the menu I reminded myself why I hadn't been here in a while. There are absolutely no gluten free options for anyone with celiac disease. I don't have it but my wife does unfortunately. We decided on our food items and it didn't take long for our food to arrive. I ordered the Eggs Benedict which was delicious. Eggs were a nice runny medium and the hash-browns nicely seasoned. But for the 2 Bennys and the hash-browns I thought the $20 price point was a bit too much for what you get.

However, there were still several tables available though for a quick seating. Though we got sat pretty quickly, we didn't put in our food orders until 15 minutes later after we had been sat. Initially, our server came to check up on us the first time after 5 minutes but didn't show up again until the 15 minute mark to take our order. Our orders itself took roughly 45 minutes to come out and we were not checked up on during this time. When the food itself came, most of the food was just slightly above room temperature and not hot. This experience made us feel like we were eating because we were hungry but not because we enjoyed the food. It was also disappointing as well since the prices here are definitely pricier but didn't reflect in the quality of food and service. The ambiance of the restaurant is dark and trendy making it seem like a go to place for people to come for drinks. It seems like this is a better place to come to chat and drink with friends than really get a quality meal.
