Beware if you have food allergies: I came to Joey's in Mayfield Common with my co-workers for a lunch meeting today. I was recently diagnosed with a dairy and soy allergy, so I advised the server of this. I ordered the Beach Salad, which I thought would be a safe choice. I asked him to skip the goat cheese just in case and to check if the dressing had dairy. He brought me the salad without goat cheese but it had the dressing on it so I assumed it was safe. He never stated that it was, which was partly my fault for not confirming that he had actually checked if it was safe for me to eat. After about half an hour of eating it, I broke out into hives and got a terrible stomach ache. I assume that either the chicken in it was cooked in butter or the dressing had dairy or soy in it. I thankfully don't have a serious allergy to milk or soy, but for someone who does, this is very dangerous. The servers and chefs need to be more careful! On the other hand, my food did taste good and my co-workers enjoyed their meals, but the experience was greatly reduced by my allergic reaction. read more

When you are on the road two out of three weeks, places start to run together. Moxies . . . Chop . . . Milestone . . . Earl's . . . they are all the same damn place with just a different name. Joey's has the same template. It appears on paper to look the same, but once you sit down, you will understand this place is different and is well worth time. Meal: I have ate here two times. My most recent visit on Monday included a peppercorn New York Strip with "crispy mash potatoes", green beans, and a Whistler Whiskey Jack Pale Ale. Taste: I don't want to sound like a schmuck but most places in Canada don't know how to get the right done-ness in a steak. Joey's did a good job on hitting medium rare. The sauce was perfect. It was complex and enjoyable - it went will the seasoning crust on the steak. The crispy mash potatoes were excellent. Different, but excellent. The green beans were decent at best, but aren't most green beans just "blah"? The beer was awesome, one of my favorite Canadian beers out there . .. not that Joey's had too much to do with it. Interesting enough though, most places I have visited in the area don't seem to clean their lines often and the beer taste musty. Such a thing didn't happen at Joey's. 9 out of 10. Value: Not bad. Not great but not wonderful. I feel like most of my reviews are usually in the middle of the pack but ironically, when I think of middle-of-the-road value places, Joey's will be what I think of in the future. 3 out of 5. Service/Cleanliness: Service was awesome. I sat at the bar, which is usually a no-no for me, but I decided to do it anyways. The bartender was incredibly freindly and attentive. I might have to claim that Joey's is the best service I have had in Edmonton 10 out of 10. Atmosphere: Most other places in Joey's category have an "out of the box" feel to them. Joey's didn't exactly have that feel. It had more of a sophisticated, well defined theme and atmosphere. The place doesn't have a great view but the overall decor is just right. Any more it would be too much and any less, it would feel like it didn't go far enough. 5 out of 5. Overall: I am already planning my next visit. I just have to pace myself . . . one day at a time. 27 out of 30 points, 5 out of 5 stars. read more

Joey's has always been one of my fave places to catch up with friends over drinks and food, whether it be south (don't go as often only because hate driving to southside ha), west or down town. It's a tie between going to this one and the down town one, as both are only 15 minutes from me, but I go to the westend one to accommodate my westend living friends (yes, I'm a great guy). Always a great atmosphere. Went last night to watch a bit of the hockey playoff games. I got served right away, however, my buddy who came later had to wait over 15 minutes before someone came over. But that was the only low point, as once we got a new waitress she was awesome and kept coming by to check on us. I went to the old favorite, the Ahi Tuna burger with yam fries ($16 plus $1.75 for yam fries sub). I really need to try something new when I come here, but it always pulls me in haha. The only thing I can gripe about is the Stella's here are more than most places I go to ($8.50) for a pint, but that's minor, as I have my fave beer, Shock Top (nice citrus with hint of orange). Our server was nice and chatted it up with us, and as per all Joey's, easy on the eyes....hey when I write a review I give all the good with the bad :) I would have to rank the big franchises like this as 1. Joey's 2. Earl's 3. Moxies. Cactus Club isn't on here because I have yet to go to one, hopefully will remedy that in the future. read more

This is my favourite Joey's in the city. The atmosphere is great, and I adore the indoor/outdoor patio. The water feature is to die for! There are many times that I've pictures glassing it over and getting married in there... Anyway, we've always had consistently good service here, no matter the time of day or the level of foot traffic. The food is also good. Yes, this is a chain eatery, but the food has always been a level above in my opinion. I particularly like the beef dip and the alfredo (the hint of nutmeg in the sauce is brilliant!) If you're looking for somewhere good to eat with food that will fill you up and leave your tongue saying "Yes!", this is a great choice, no matter the season. read more

I set up a belated admin professional day lunch here. Staff was pleasant to deal with and they accommodated our large group fine. They don't take reservations for noon so we ate at 1. Our server was pretty helpful and made sure that our needs were fulfilled, its nice that everyone can order whatever they want and not be stuck to a certain menu ... Which places like XIX require. Joeys is a beautiful restaurant and we sat at the long table near the pool of water. Decor is decadent. The garage doors were not open today as it was a bit windy. Our food came out in an ok amount of time, it was a tad slow. My Greek wrap and Caesar salad were alright, with the wrap having a bit of drip that made eating a bit of a challenge. Some of the staff had dessert and our server made sure our drinks were refilled without asking. Other staff assisted with that and the removal of plates. Our bill was settled fine and the experience was great. The staff all enjoyed their meals and said it was a great choice, so yay me. Joey Mayfield is a great place to go for a business event. Lot of room , plenty of seats and great staff. The prices are reasonable (see photos) and I love the fact that they actually have tasty food in a "business friendly" environment. I've taken several clients here and they have all liked it. There is free wi-fi and it's classy and clean enough to not be ashamed to bring anybody. I ordered the New York Steak, and it came out perfectly and I'm a bit of a steak snob (which Albertan isn't?) Lots of free parking, well worth going here. Why didn't it get 5 stars? Not a great deal for the prices, but great quality. read more

There seems to be an up and coming group of restaurants Joeys, Cactus Club and such and they are good! Boston Pizza, Moxies and Earls should take notice. But I would say Joeys is top! Great for a quick business lunch or for a nice meal out with friends and family. Not gonna lie the waitresses are eye candy too! The pricing is terrible I would highly recommend Joeys! We come here quite frequently. As of late the service and meal quality has gone downhill and as a result I am compelled to write you guys about it. Today was by far the worst experience EVER!!!! The server was basically non existent. We ordered our meal and 30 minutes later she finally came back to the table saying a steak was over cooked so they held all of our orders until the new steak was ready instead of bringing out some of the appetizers (that I would assume were ready) to let the table get started. When they finally came the portions seem to have all gotten smaller and the 33$ steak and lobster ravioli was 4 ravioli and about a 4 ounce gristle ridden steak that was barely even warm or chewable for that matter. One of the burgers my eldest son ordered was half raw. The chicken lettuce wraps came with 4 tiny pieces of chicken in a bowl that was so drenched in sauce that it was closer to a soup than a filler for a wrap. Both salads were both drenched in dressing as well- they're salads not soup. At this point we were piling our own dishes on the table without anyone even coming to refill our waters never mind asking us about our meals. Finally one of your managers was trying to help but then we were sent another manager who wasn't even aware of the situation. Then the first manager then came back with a gift card and said the bill would be brought to the table. We waited over 15 minutes until I had to go find her and ask for the bill which she said should've been brought to us already by the server. While all is this was going on my son felt ill from the half cooked burger he had eaten and had to go to the washroom to throw up. This was a birthday dinner for my youngest son and the first time my parents had ever been to this restaurant. Disappointed would be an understatement. Honestly appalled with both the service and the meal quality and although we used to come here quite frequently in the past I don't see us returning any time soon. As of 7 pm my eldest son is still puking, my younger son is extremely upset and embarrassed because he feels everyone's night was ruined because he picked this spot to come to. Regards. read more

I concur with Maria F. It is a popular spot for business lunches. On warm days the indoor patio opens their windows, which I have yet to experience. My coworkers and I go there just to relax and enjoy the scenery. Their bar area is pretty good and has all 3 TVs for us to watch some of the World Cup games. Their wait staff are very friendly and will go that extra step to make their customers happy. They are in direct competition with Earl's and Moxie's for that mid-level dining experience. In saying that, I am a bit surprised at the pricing of their food. The last time I went, I ordered their Beach Salad which consisted of grilled chicken, avocados, lettuce, candied pecans, brie with a lemon peppercorn dressing. Tight on the brie and avocado. I should've asked for more. I have also ordered the steak frites on previous occasions. This time I was satisfied when I asked for medium rare. With their garlic butter, it's pretty tasty. So for the guys' "viewing pleasure", Joey's is a pretty good place to be. read more

I had an extremely positive afternoon at Joeys today while on a lunch date with a friend of mine. I don't love going to chain restaurants for many reasons and the biggest one being that I am vegan and options are limited for the most part. Our server Chris was not only helpful when he heard that I am vegan, he knew exactly what I could and could not have and was sincerely apathetic to my dietary choices as he himself is a vegetarian. I have been in the service industry since the 80s and own a cafe myself and would highly recommend Joeys and this lucky you if you get this lovely server. Wait time to get the table was quick and our waiter was quick and friendly. Drink orders were quick to arrive and appetizer was delicious highly recommend the pesto shrimp flat bread :) I had my steak and prawns which was cooked to a beautiful medium and as always the crispy load mash potatoes are to die for and reccomend getting a side if you dont ready have it as a side. I have been to Joey Mayfield many times and I have always walked away happy: lately I feel like there has been a change and after visiting there last night I am greatly disappointed. I am middle aged and this issue might make some laugh but the music was so loud that our group could not really talk and hear each other. In the past the music has always been tasteful and at a level that is still easy to chat. The party to our left sat and looked at the ceiling and as I watched they too would shake their heads and cover their ears. We raced through our dinner then had a quick visit in the parking lot. I have to say: there are many options in the area. If you do not want to talk with your table guests I would go elsewhere. read more

I came to Edmonton with a bunch of ladies for the Bridal Fantasy- we decided to meet up with her groom and groomsmen at Joeys. It was such a refreshing experience being at a restaurant with a great server. Our table was loud, some people were obnoxious & swearing loudly and she didn't even bat an eye. I ordered the super jack & coke ( delish) ..okay I ordered a few... and the Steak frites. Another lady at our table was drinking coffee and our waitress had no problem refilling her cup or making a new pot for her when she complained... For honestly just the fact that she could complain. I thought the coffee tasted just fine. Everyone of us left feeling satisfied and happy ( like I said the super Jack & Coke was delish) my steak melted in my mouth. I didn't catch our servers name but kudos to you! And if her manager ends up reading this give that girl a pat on the back and a raise... She is after all going to be back packing around Aussie soon! Had dinner here on February 19th. Happy Chinese New Year to you all! The dinner was really good. The appetizers were good too. In the beet salad, the avocados used were still not ripe though so they were a little tougher to eat. My dad had a steak, uncle a Peppercorn steak. My mom a fish dish, my aunt and 2nd mom had a salmon rice bowl. My sister had fish tacos, her boyfriend after appetizers, he had a salad for dinner. My spouse had the Steak and Sushi, myself i got the aha tuna sandwich. Everything was relatively good, the service was really good too! Would eat at this location again. read more

The lounge is so noisy it's hard to hear anything, and it's also quite crowded (but you usually don't have to wait for a table in the lounge). They definitely need more vegetarian/vegan options on their menu besides salads. Beautifully tasting food, the waiters are helpful, bit of a generic place but good overall. read more

I'm usually not a big fan of chains but I really enjoy JOEY's. The menu is big enough to cater to any taste. This was my first time at the Mayfield location and every dish was great. We started with the calamari - the spicy aioli makes this dish stand out. We continued with shrimp lettuce wraps (sooo tasty and spicy and delicious!), fish tacos and baby back ribs. Everyone was happy with their meals. We wrapped things up with their apple pie (although there aren't many dessert choices on the menu, it doesn't matter - get the apple pie!). The salty caramel drizzle brought the whole experience up a notch! I'll be returning here for sure - the cooks did a fabulous job that evening! Service was pretty average - no complaints. If you don't enjoy loud-ish music I would suggest waiting for a table in the restaurant side. It was a Friday night, we chose the lounge and there was a DJ playing which made it a bit more difficult to carry conversations but we still enjoyed ourselves. read more

I guess I take it for granted that everybody knows how much I love this place but after going there every single week to meet my girls at our regular Friday lunch for like three years now, I realized - OMG! I haven't even written a review on them. My bad, guys! Here you go! Firstly, let's start out by saying that we sit in the lounge and do so because everybody there knows our name. There's something to be said for the "Cheers" effect; we love that when we arrive we are smiled at and greeted by servers even if they aren't assigned to us that day. Plus, they are kind enough to reserve us a table provided we text to confirm our attendance; very reasonable. Joey Mayfield does an exceptional job of training their staff to take a personal interest in their clientele, not waiting until they become regulars, but encouraging them to do so, by delivering quality service and food, time after time. It's like an expensive McDonald's. LOL. Dean Lowry has been the Manager for as long as I can remember and he is probably the guy who is responsible for the customer service training I'm raving about. But a big shout out to Jenna and now Michelle, who we see regularly and appreciate sincerely. These ladies have the big job of keeping clients happy during the lunch rush, which is only increases exponentially on Fridays and they do a tremendous job! So what do I eat there? Mostly Super Sonic Gin & Tonic. No, I'm kidding. That's for weekday lunches at Joey, on the rare occasion. *wink wink* We usually get the special, which is Super Stoked Vodka Coke, and my personal twist on it, with Diet and Vanilla, or Cherry, depending on my mood. For food? Oh! Well, let's say that my usual is the Baja Fish Tacos which I order WITHOUT onions, because of a recently discovered sulfite intolerance (read: onions make me bloated and fat-looking) although the Beach Salad (strawberries, goat cheese, candied pecans, avocados) used to be my favorite (back when I ate a lot more), and I recommend throwing a filet of Basa on top. They prepare it deliciously with a spicy rub on it - sooooo goood! For the days I crave something a little different, lighter or feel like sharing with my bestie, I order up the Lobster Grilled Cheese Sandwich - cheesy goodness but doesn't go well with TOO many vodka cokes. Joey's restaurant located in Mayfield Common is a popular spot for business lunches during the day and a fun place with relaxed atmosphere at night. During lunch hours the place gets extremely busy, so it is highly advised that you make a reservation beforehand. Even if you do so, get ready to wait half an hour for your meals to arrive. The chefs at Joey's take the food seriously and don't jeopardize its quality for the sake of fast service. Thank God that Joey's has such a beautiful interior- modern, urban, upscale- so you can sip you iced tea, have a chat with your dining companions and admire the décor, as you endure long, slowly dragging minutes before your food arrives. Once it does, you will not be disappointed. Some of my favorite dishes from the menu are Ahi tuna salad and blackened Basa. The fish is fresh and never overcooked. Overall, Joey's menu consists of salads and soups (wild mushroom soup is exceptionally delicious), sandwiches, wok sautés and steaks. Molten lava chocolate soufflé is the only dessert I have tried, and I will do so again:) At night time, Joey's is a great place to come to with friends, and to enjoy a couple of drinks. Relax in comfortable leather seats, kick back and enjoy a margarita. Lunch at 11:45am December 14. The music was so loud that all the patrons were yelling at each other. Even the server had to yell. Pleasant server, terrible service. Not enough staff. Took over 20 minutes before I even could order an overpriced $3.75 mediocre lukewarm coffee. I ordered the Ahi tuna burger with mushroom soup. The soup was flavourful. The tuna was almost tasteless. No wow factor in this meal except for "wow I just got bamboozled into paying $19.50 for this mediocre lunch" I would not recommend this place. In summary the food is mediocre and overpriced, service is spotty. Chef Ramsey would do a thumbs down here. read more

Excellent service. I went there for the first time with my friend. It was both of our first time at Joey Mayfield. When we got there, the hostess asked us whether we wanted to be seated into the lounge or dining area. We chose lounge, but after hearing the loud music blasting, we both decided we wanted to eat in the dining area. We tell the hostess we changed our minds, and she seats us outside. We meet our server, and she is friendly, friendlier than the hostess. We ordered the sushi cones and some sushi rolls. We also ordered some yam fries. The yam fries were delicious; well seasoned. Everything tasted perfect. The server was attentive to our needs. They came to check up on us, to ask us how our food was, and refilled our glasses of water. They made my experience at Joey's Mayfield memorable. I definitely would want to come and eat here again! read more

This place is decent. It's our go-to for an after movie drink when we end up in the north, but mostly it's because the pickings are very slim up there. But the wine is decent, and they pretty much leave you alone. Can't complain too much. Haven't eaten there, so I can't really comment. (usually too full of popcorn by that point...) read more

Went for a birthday with a large group of 18 people- the staff were very accommodating and even gave us our table early which was great! The food was terrific, drinks good and they split the bills up perfectly. Only giving this a 4 due to they only had 1 server for 18 people- drinks were slow and one side was almost done there food by the time the second half get it. read more
