The ambiance was nicer than expected given the name, it was comfortable and modern but lacked any charm. The drinks were a highlight, we all enjoyed our cocktails and mocktails. The server was also very attentive and communicative. The only item we really enjoyed was the goat cheese poutine. That was delicious. The entrees were boring. Two of my party got the blackened salmon special with rice, vegetables and curry aioli. They expected a flavorful experience but got white rice, steamed vegetables and barely seasoned salmon with a small side of flavored mayo. It was cooked well but just not very tasty. I got one of the staff favorites, the bison meatloaf, which was also pretty bland. The meals were served like a convention center banquet meal instead of saucy, flavorful and fun.

Not big desserts but both very different, flavorful and satisfying our sweet tooth. It is a casual, family friendly setting.

They are located upstairs on the main drag of Jasper (they have an elevator on the outside to get you up there if you have mobility issues). The patio is fantastic, and if you have small kids they will probably be excited that they can see the VIA rail trains go in and out. Service was excellent. We had the sweetest server ever, even when my kiddo with special needs decided to swipe the table and break some glass. (We offered to pay for it, she declined so we gave her a big tip). Menu is good - a variety of food and hats off to the Indigenous items they included. Since it was lunch time, we just decided on a main meal and no appetizers (we were hiking after this), but I really would like to come back here for the appies. We decided on the Wild Game Burger -Alberta Elk & Bison patty with caramelized onions, forest mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, pickles with old fashioned mayo-mustard sauce, served with Canadian kennebec home-cut fries while kiddo decided on the kids mac and cheese. Food came out in a timely manner. We really enjoyed how juicy our wild game burger was and I really loved the mushrooms and onions on it. Our daughter gobbled up her meal. I would definitely recommend this. Prices are high, but so is everything else in Jasper. If you want cheaper do a chain restaurant. If you want a great and authentic experience try this out.

The people: a mother and her son, tired from the day's (short) hike in the snow. The atmosphere at the street: hushed voices, some bit of hustle and bustle as strangers rush to fill some void. Hunger. There were more steps from the sidewalk up to the restaurant, a seeming offense to legs tired from pushing against the snow earlier in the day. The local game and seafood, both in varying forms, were the tempters. We got our table, and we sat down. Drinks first - CRFT Blonde Ale was a winner - and a lovely herbed bread and butter started us off. Menu choice this night focused on the game dishes. Some calamari to start too, though our hunger made a short life of that starter at our table. And then we got our mains. Well-prepared, unpretentious, flavorful, and - for us - just the right proportions. My bison medallions - ordered rare - were prepared just perfectly, with (as I told my son) the only instance of spaghetti squash that I think I have ever liked (alongside other well-prepared veggies as well). His mixed game burger didn't stand a chance. He even ate the mushrooms, a sure HT. Our experience here was so wonderful, centered, warm - It helped that our server was equally so, and you can see how much she connects with the customers as one would with guests in a home. We liked our meal so much we came back again the next night for more. And the second night did not lose any luster off the first. Next time we are in the area, we are probably going to go nowhere but here. While our travels took us far, we felt right at home here.

It was not appreciated that she made it appear that we owed her for serving us and it was not necessary to state "You're in Canada, you should know better" We are seasoned travellers and have travelled far beyond Canada and although tipping is encouraged, it should not be shoved into the faces especially on tourists. What I didn't like about the breakfast experience is the cup size for coffee! I think the cups are small compared to the similar businesses. For dinner they have a better menu and the food is pretty good! I have tried their special a couple of times and I enjoyed some of their dishes and appetizers! I didn't enjoy their cocktails since they seemed to be a bit homemade quality, and maybe overpriced? My good example is their old fashion which was the smallest I've even seen! The interior design and the atmosphere is great and a great place for date nights! The staff was always nice, friendly and helpful and I liked the customer service! Overall the quality of the food is good and I know I'll definitely go back there!

For breakfast we ordered the alpine start (yogurt with homemade musli, brioche with jam) and the waffle plate. We enjoyed both of them; there were a good starting for our morning (breakfast opens at 7:30am). For dinner we tried the chicken, the meatloaf and the ribs. Everything was very good. I can't complain about the taste of the food. My only "complain" is about the small portion of every dish and how slow was the service during the dinner. The first time we ate here we waited almost 1 hour for our meal (I know there was a big group and other tables, but the service was very slow). Overall the restaurant and the place are amazing because of the view of Athabaskan river and the mountains around and they have s'more pit and other event almost every night.

Tried the: Potato Gratin: 9/10, really grainy but could tell they used a lot of real cheese. Potato was perfectly cooked and I loved that there was lots of sauce. Very pretty presentation. Orange chicken: 8.5/10, chicken as super tasty but just too much ginger for me in the sauce. Rice was very very bland. Spiralized diakon/parsnip was a great light vegetable that Looked like raw onion but thankfully wasn't. Loved it. Drink, The Opener: 10/10. Size appears small but by the end of it I was done with it. Wow taste though. Boyfriend said you can taste the rum but I got more banana and minty. 100% would get again. Got pretty strong by the end but really liked the flavor combo And the color.

No wait for us, but everyone who came after us without a reservation would have needed to wait until ~8:45PM. The menu isn't too extensive, but has a wide variety. I started with a Black Cherry Lemonade. For a party of four, we ordered Alberta Antipasto Skewers, Stuffed Porto, and Chef's Soup. The chef's soup of the day was a Salmon Chowder. We also ordered Basil Bliss Penne, Truffled Elk Tagliatelle, Orchard Duck, and Old Fashioned Bison Short Ribs to share as our mains. The Salmon Chowder was hearty and belly-warming. Lots of salmon bits in there and mixed vegetables. I liked that the chowder wasn't too thick and heavy. I absolutely loved the Stuffed Portos. They're soft, meaty, and juicy and the sauce it comes with mixes so well with the cashew and tofu crumble. As for the Alberta Antipasto Skewers, I can't say I've had Elk and Bison much, but the Elk pepperoni was pretty good! Can't go wrong with the prosciutto either since they just go so well with slices of toasted bread. Both of the sauce it came with was great, but I think I liked the green, herby sauce more than the thicker, creamy one. Onto our mains! The Old Fashioned Bison Short Ribs was a favorite amongst all. It's super tender and falls off the bone so easily. The sauce it comes with doesn't overpower the flavor of the bison either, but it does make it subtly sweet. I loved the veggies the sauce got all mixed in with as well, especially the broccolini. Of the two pastas, I liked the Basil Bliss Penne because it's vegan-friendly and absolutely delicious. I wish the pasta was a little more al dente, but it was still really good. More subtle flavor wise than the other pasta, and not too heavy. I can't say much about the Truffled Elk Tagliatelle since I only sampled a bit. It's on the flavorful and rich side, but my party absolutely loved this too. Lastly, for the Orchard Duck, the sauce was the delicious. I think the duck could be made a little more tender, but it did pair well with the sauce. I also liked the contrast of the crispy rice cake. There was a thin layer of outer crispy layer and the rice in the inside was more soft and mushy. All the dishes had a lot of texture variety which was amazing. My partner and I shared the Chocolate Pecan Tart which was an absolutely amazing way to end the night. Our friends shared their Baklava Cheesecake which seemed to be a popular choice given that a lot of other tables ordered it. The pecan tart was not too sweet and had a rich chocolatey taste. Service was absolutely stellar as well. Our server checked in on us periodically to make sure we were doing fine and also gave us ample time to enjoy our dishes. We were also checked in and situated quickly thanks to the lady at the check-in counter. Everyone we interacted with was really friendly. I can see why our accomodation host recommended Raven Bistro to us. Thanks for the wonderful experience! We all enjoyed our meal here!
