102 degrees over the weekend and figures that is when the air conditioner craps out. E&A was assigned by AHS Warranty and Monday morning we received a call from them setting up an appointment window (Tuesday 10am - 1pm was soonest available). Received an email shortly thereafter confirming it and advising that Sam would be the tech coming to the house. Sam arrived around noon (masked for Covid19 safety) and was polite and professional. He made the repair (part replacement) and tested that the unit was working efficiently. Afterward he recommended a condenser coil cleaning and provided a quote for it (probably not covered by warranty company so we'll check other places for rates before deciding - but if they are comparable will likely use E&A). Our AHS Home Warranty expires in a few months and we're unsure if we'll renew it but we will hang onto E&A Mechanical contact information for any future repairs. read more

Arthur came out to service our home AC unit. He arrived on time, was professional, knowledgable and courteous and fixed our AC within an hour! I've had bad experiences with different AC companies in the past, but I was pleasantly surprised with E & A Mechanical. I explained to him my previous dealings with the first A/C company sent out by American Home Shield and the plumbing company that the first A/C company insisted that I needed. I wish AHS sent out this company first I would have avoided a two week delay in fixing my problem - a blocked passage in my condensation pipe. Arthur fixed the problem in 10 minutes. The three workers replaced my air conditioner condenser and A coil. The were very efficient and seemed to know what they were doing. They completed the job efficiently and cleaned up the area very well. The original unit was 40 years old, so they had to make so adaptations to the furnace and insulated the ducts to make them more efficient. I'm happy so far and will consider E &A when I need furnace or A/C work in the future. read more

My air conditioner units were kicking on and off and I got super lucky that my home insurance company sent E &A Mechanical to my house. Sam arrived and was completely professional and changed the filter and went out to the unit and found a problem and fixed it. He went back and forth to his truck several times in the incredible heat until he fixed the issue. Had major problems with prior a/c company sent out by First American so they changed to E&A. After 4 attempts the prior company couldn't figure out problem and my system was leaking and frozen. Emin (hope I spelled this correctly) with E&A came out promptly and managed to spot and fix the problem immediately. The other a/c company mis-wired the system causing the a/c unit to be running constantly... 24 hours a day for over a month. Our electric bill increased by over $1,000. Now I know why. Due to the heavy rain storm in SoCal during February 2017, sure enough I noticed a leak through my ceiling. Under the home warranty program, E & A was dispatched to inspect the leak. Levon, the technician, came out to inspect the HVAC air duct in the attic including the unit on the roof. He professionally advised that the leak was from the roof and a simple sealer would resolve the issue. Thank you Levon for your superior customer service! read more

I had an AC repair issue in my house and my home warranty company sent me E&A mechanical contractors. They replaced the condenser but did not take care of the AC breaker. When the city official came to inspect they were not even present here. The city official left a note saying they need to take care of the breaker. But they kept denying that and said I need to fix it. I brought E&A Mechanical on conference call along with the city official. They said that they woud not take care of it but the city official clearly pointed them to the code and mentioned about the breaker. They said they will take care of it but then they came back and said they will only take care of the fuse and not the breaker because they were not electricians. This is just going back on their word which they earlier promised. I had to spend 3 weeks till now and the issue is still not fixed. E&A Mechanical are the worst contractors I ever worked with !!! read more

I had a great experience with E & A Mechanical. They were referred to me through AHS when my furnace went on the blink. They sent 2 technicians out that same morning. They called 30 minutes before arriving and were kind and courteous. They did a great job fixing my furnace and did not try to charge me any extra. They came during the window they said and you were sent a text when they were on the way to track their progress. The person came in and was able to determine what the issue was on the A/C. There were actually two issues and he resolved them all and after about an hour our house was cooling off. It was a home warranty call and I was afraid he was going to say we needed Freon, which is barely covered, but that was not the case. I would be happy if they came out again, but I am hoping I won't need them. read more

We called E & A for work that needed to be done ASAP. They came out the next day and we were able to schedule the work very quickly. On the day of the work they were pretty much on time and did the job quickly and efficiently. The price was fair, we do not have the home warranty but did get their name from a friend who does. I have insurance with AHS, who sent a technician from E & A Mechanical, Inc. to fix the heater and A/C. Karen came right away, diagnosed the problem, left for 20 min to bring the necessary part and fixed the problem. Everything works perfectly now, very satisfied with Karen's work. We were set up with this company by our home warranty to fix our air conditioner and we were not pleased with their service. We understand some of it had to do with the home warranty company delays, but E & A didn't seem very interested in fixing our unit. They came out once, told us it was fixed. It wasn't. We called again and it took another week for them to come out again. It ended up being a repair the home warranty didn't cover (of course), but E & A never bothered to call and give us that update. We ended up calling a local company, whose employee came out and spent 3 hours on a Friday night making sure our unit was working properly. The E & A tech who came out arrived with the wrong work order for a different address and was somewhat rude and condescending. We would not recommend E & A. read more

They were called out because the furnace fan wouldn't turn on. I was told it was the blower motor and the housing was dirty and I would have to pay for the cleaning. They were sent by First American Home Warranty. They came back to finish the job and about a week later the fan would go on by itself. The thermostat was set to off. I called them back and the guy gave me an excuse that he has to witness the problem. He tapped the furnace and the fan started. I told him he's witnessing it now. He looked it over and said a switch was dirty and said he cleaned it. A little while after he left the fan went on again and this time it runs non stop. We had to unplug the furnace. I called First American Today to Complain and they said they would register a complaint and for me to call E &A Mechanical to schedule. I called and requested same day. I was told they would be here between 3 and 6pm. It's now 6:15pm and no one has shown up. I also complained that their repairman doesn't wear a mask. read more

I have to say - this company not only saved me but went above and beyond. I was assigned to this vendor by my home insurance warranty plan and I saw the reviews here. I was prepared to be upset. But instead they came out within 24 hours and fixed our AC. (During a heat wave) And even followed up well, when a 2nd part broke later that season. Then I asked for documentation afterwards for my personal records and they sent that pretty quickly. I think the key is to not wait until your home ins company contacts them. We were treated very well by this company and will use them again if the need arises. We had a bad problem with water leaking down through our master bedroom ceiling from an AC unit in the attic. E&A sent their technician (Greg) out within two business days of our calling. Greg is knowledgeable, fast, polite and very good at communicating what the problem is and the time needed to fix it. We were very impressed with Greg and appreciated the helpful people in the front office as well (Wendy and Melissa) who were quick to check with Greg and see when he was arriving and update us etc. We expect good service when we call this kind of company and with E&A Mechanical we are very pleased with their work. read more

Go anywhere else. My tech was condescending and curt. He did the absolute minimum. Even though I told him before he even touched my unit that it was working fine at the moment and that the reason I called in the first place was because of a terrible sound from the condenser motor that I had heard a few days earlier. He did not even look at the condenser motor other than to spin the blades with a screwdriver through the grate, and satisfied that the blades weren't stuck he did not feel he needed to investigate any further. Completely lazy just trying to get the $75 fee and leave as fast as possible. Another disappointing American Home Shield vendor. read more

Beware. Read all the reviews before considering this company. I reported a water leak in my AC blower unit to American Home Shield. They assigned it to E&A who arrived at the last 15 minutes of their designated service window. I showed the unit to the tech who saw the collected water and recognized the damaged pump, but did not look at anything else. He opened the pump and said it would need to be replaced, but that he didn't have the part and would have to return. I mentioned we were concerned about the units poor performance and he told me "that would be another call." I called AHS to voice my concern they agreed the tech should have provided a thorough inspection, but that it was already in the system and my only recourse was to request they never send that service again. E&A called me to confirm a second visit 2 days after the first one, to install the new pump. I voiced my concerns to the caller and was told they only provided the service defined by the PO. Lesson learned: Never give a specific problem to AHS if you don't want complete service from the vendor. I agreed with caller that I set myself up for the minimum service by their rules, but that they could take the responsibility upon themselves to improve my view of their service on their return. She said she'd talk to her supervisor. Two day later, same tech and a second show up with  the new pump. One wearing a mask, the other not. They set the old pump aside, unpackaged the new one, used a few containers around my basement to fill with water, installed the new unit, and then left everything scattered around basement. They did not remove the broken unit, the packaging for the new unit or replace the borrowed containers. Minimum of service was achieved, as long as the pump continues to work. I will not use this service again. Fortunately they sent me an automated email requesting I post a review here, and have gladly done so. read more

My experience didn't start well - not with E&A - with my home warranty, American Home Shield (can't say enough negative things about them). The process was long, tedious and the AHS people were pretty incompetent. So once we got approval and they assigned E&A to do the work, my hopes weren't high. Fortunately, the AHS process had no bearing on E&A. They came out to install my new system when they said they would - in fact, they were able to schedule me earlier which was a lifesaver since the temperatures were in the 90s all week! The installers showed up on time and finished the job in less than the estimated timeframe. The system has been working well - no issues! Happy customer. read more

This company was assigned to me by American Home Shield in response to address our heater issue. The tech who came out struggled to identify the problem. He seemed to be completely unfamiliar with our basic Honeywell wifi thermostat. He kept asking me what the different modes were and I had to google these answer for him. In the end he said I needed to replace my thermostat with one without wifi to avoid the problem I was having. This is despite the fact that I have two of these thermostats in the house and he witnessed one of them function without a glitch. Before leaving he said he would have to report his findings back to the office and they would contact me to schedule a follow up appointment. The next thing I know, E&A reports the issue as resolved which causes American Home Shield to close the ticket. While the tech was a very nice guy, he did not seem knowledgeable and the fact that the issue was not resolved and the company lied about that, does not earn them any stars from me. read more
