TL:DR
Avoid Tempest HVAC Pros at all costs!
My review:
I wish I could give Tempest HVAC Pros zero stars. What started out promising quickly turned into one of the worst experiences I've had with a vendor.
Within an hour of being assigned my case by First American Home Warranty, I received a text from Nick offering an appointment for the next day (Saturday). Unfortunately, I was swamped with work and couldn't respond right away. They texted again and followed up with a call to get me scheduled. I appreciated their persistence, but that's where the positives end.
The technician was scheduled to come between 1pm and 5pm. By 4:40pm, I hadn't heard anything, so I reached out. They told me the tech was running late but on the way. He finally arrived after 5pm.
The technician asked what was going on, and I tried to explain, especially given the numerous issues I've had with the unit over the last year. Instead of listening, he dismissed me. He took a few photos of the unit's manufacturer sticker inside and outside but didn't actually inspect anything in detail. When I asked if he found anything or could fix the problem, he said he was only sent to take measurements and that I needed to call the office for the report in about 30 minutes. Of course, by then, the office was closed.
The real nightmare began on Monday when I received an email from my home warranty company saying my claim was not only denied but that tehy will no longer cover my A/C because Tempest HVAC Pros reported that I was "missing a part." I tried contacting Tempest for an explanation, but the same company that was so quick to answer my calls earlier in the process was now ghosting me. They recognized my number but refused to answer or return my calls.
When I finally got through, they claimed they didn't have a report and that they just relayed what their technician told them. When I asked what that was, they said they couldn't tell me. Meanwhile, my home warranty company insists that Tempest does have a detailed report and that they need to provide it to me. Despite that, Tempest is refusing to tell me any details, give me a report and/or even answer/return my calls at this point.
So here I am, with an AC unit that still doesn't work, a denied claim, no future coverage for my A/C and no information. I've already paid for the claim, and now I'm out even more money trying to find another vendor to fix this issue--oh, and did I mention it's been 100º all week?
Tempest HVAC Pros' lack of communication, refusal to provide any explanation, and blatant disregard for my calls is egregious. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the California Department of Insurance, Claims Service Bureau. I sincerely hope no one else has to endure the poor level of service I received.
