Selection was awesome, service not so much. We had one gentleman help us - super helpful, talkative, polite. The lady who rang me up was the total opposite - rude, argumentative when I asked a question about pricing, clearly did not appreciate our business. There is a DXL Outlet not too far from here (LA County)....way better prices and surprisingly, better service as well. So I heard back from A. regional manager named Sara. I get the typical well we will talk to our people in the normal BS. But they still don't understand the frustration and expect me to go walking back in like as if nothing happened. I asked the simple question of what incentive is there for me to want to go back to DXL? I have not received a response and that was the other day. You are your guess to want to go back there needs to be some kind of intensive some kind of reason. I found wrangler brand shorts at Walmart for $20. I can get other brands of stuff that like Kohl's JCPenney's. They offer incentives to go in. The only incentives I've seen from DXL are coupons that you cannot use. It would be like a restaurant that says come eat here. We finally passed our health inspection. You don't wanna go there. And that is the whole situation, that if there's no real incentive to go back there, then I don't go back there. And anybody else that can learn from this good for them. Ghost man, your hard earned somewhere else that it's obvious that they don't appreciate you so go to your Walmart or go to Kohl's cause at all these places you're just a number and not a person. read more

This is my local store. I tried going there a couple years ago to use a $100 eGift card and they said they don't accept in store (it says on paper that they do) because it needs a PIN (which it did not have). Just tried resolving this with DXL customer service...they responded by cancelling/voiding my eGift card for complaining...now I have no proof I ever had the gift card...because they decided at some point to require PIN numbers for gift cards that were bought BEFORE they required them. I was only going to go to this store to buy shoes since their private brand stuff is expensive garbage now (used to be good thick fabrics with quality seams and sewing, but now it is paper thing garbage fabric with seams that give out on first wash) but since their customer service likes to steal valid gift cards and claim my issue was addressed (I never asked them to void my gift card...i just wanted to use it). I would advise staying away. They barely carry anything you cannot already find in the same sizes at standard stores...the actual big sizes carried are only their private brand garbage while anything of quality is either 2x the price it would be elsewhere and/or is not a big and tall size. They no longer carry actual big and tall selection in store (getting tired of constantly being told I have to go online to buy stuff they are supposed to carry in 5XL) so the last thing I was going to them for was shoes. Since they stole my $100 gift card though, I am done done done with these guys. Go anywhere else. Better off going on Amazon. Use them for fitting and size checks only. read more

Stopped by this location last night (08/18/2023). We showed up 30 minutes before they closed, so I asked if they could help me out, as I was looking for a nice suit for my Niece's Quinceaneara. Maria jumped up and immediately started pulling clothes and options for me! Extremely helpful and nice lady. The selection of clothes at the Victoria Gardens location were adequate, though in some areas certain clothing brands were very sparse in size and color/print selection. We received no in-store assistance from employees which was odd but we were greeted warmly when we first arrived. What really takes the cake was that at checkout, the store employee would not accept the 4th of July promotional code that their website clearly stated was good in BOTH stores and online. So I instead of making a $250+ sale, the store lost the sale today and a customer going forward. I will not purchase anything ever again from DXL, XL or Casual Male XL. If you're going to advertise sale promotions online that state that the promotion is good online AND in stores then make sure all your employees know that. This was a classic bait and switch marketing scheme. Very unhappy with this store, get your clothes elsewhere. read more

I ordered a shirt online and pick up at this store. I got a email says my shirt is ready and call the store to arrange pick up . So I called the store to make sure the shirt is ready and the guy on the telephone gave me attitude. He said if you get the email then you can just come, don't call us in the store. We are busy. Came to the store last week to pick up my online order, instead of being greeted the correct way by the manager, he literary kick me out of the store because he claims that there was a lot of ppl in the store due to covid. Which I did understand the situation but the fact that he rude about it. So I step out and waited for someone to call me in it took them roughly about 10 min for him to call me in the store and I just decided to to give them my business and I return the merchandise. I spent a good portion of day shopping at Ontario Mills for men's clothing. Seems like all of the department stores do not carry any clothing that are 2X and above. If the department stores had anything besides T-shirts in 2X it was very sparse. So I got on my phone and look for a big and tall store and found Destination XL and callrd them. I spoke with Robert who was very helpful in giving me directions to the store. Upon arriving to the store I was greeted by Amanda. Amanda and Robert were both very helpful in finding me a nice outfit to wear that wasn't under or overdressed. They spent the time to make sure that I was fitted properly. I must say that both of these employees went above and beyond to help me. Casual Male XL now has a customer for life. Unless I just shrink to XL :-) read more

This location is the closest one to me, and I've dealt with many employees, some are useless, but a MAJORITY of them go above and beyond; assisting you with outfits, from fitment to selections. This store unfortunately goes through management changes like every day (it seems) -- the previous manager was an older guy who was very very helpful, and was great at his job and has been with the company for many years (he then got transffered) and another person took over and now they JUST recently promoted someone to management who I havent met yet. But anyhow, the reason why i bring this up is because the other genetlemen promised to return items for me, even if washed, should fitment adjust dramatically now that the new manager is there they can't do this. So now online ordering just got rougher as I can go from 2XL to 5XL to 4XLT etc depending on the material, and clothing line. It's terrible I know, but now I have to shop in-store for everything, whereas before online was great because they carried stuff the stores didn't. Also previously another manager promised warranty on these "unlisted" kenneth cole dress shoes since my last pair were damaged (the sole split from the shoe) and now they don't honor any type of warranties on new shoes, so my confidence in purchasing shoes from them just went down. What I'm trying to say is each employee promises things differently, and sadly you go for it thinking its a real policy that will be honored but due to employee churn you're left with unfilled promises. I seen another persons review mentioning something similiar, and it's obviously a frustating topic for customers. I'm rating this 4 stars, because I've spent literally thousands and thousands here and havent been too upset, I know how business roles and I tend to forgive the store for an employees promise but jeez it made me learn a lesson :) I hope they can get the store under proper long-term management before it dies. On a good note; the store smells amazing! How do they do it? Is it a air mister I can purchase? First , I want to say that I am super super considerate that most stores are doing their best during these horrible situation with Covid but I also believe that there are many people out there that use Covid as an excuse not to take any pride in their work or care anymore about doing a good job. . I have been a customer to this store for a long time ( more than 3 years ) and I came to this store in the last week of July and spent good money in the store in the mid of a Covid getting out of control again and they gave me a 25$ coupon for the month of August and that is why I came back today and there were literally 2 people as customers in the entire store ; they were not busy or overwhelmed by any stretch of imagination and I asked this lady for help and I could tell she just wasn't interested in helping. They had this huge sign on their window about 75% off clearance and I was looking into the dress office shirts and she gave me a general response like our shirts starting from 64$ to 90-100$ ; she could have said " hey , let me help, let's find a shirt for you ; let me see if we have anything in the clearance" but literally nothing...I left the store and threw the $25 coupon in the trash...so disappointed..During these Covid times when we are dealing with massive salary cuts and people being unemployed, their shirt prices have stayed the same along with their alteration fees ; for simple office shirt , you are looking at 130-150$ total price with alteration ; I spent a fortune on pants and shirt alteration sometimes 110$ ALONE just for alteration and it was only a year ago when I found this amazing lady who owns a tailoring shop and she started charging me 25$ as opposed to 100-110$ that they were charging for the SAME work. The only reason I came today was to see if I could find an affordable shirt and take that shirt to that amazing lady for alteration but honestly, I don't think I will ever be going back to this store and I do not believe this store will even survive not if they don't make fair reduction on the ridiculous price tags of their clothes and actually getting people who want to work actually in that store; very very DISAPPOINTED!! said my peace , Thank you read more

Wanted to update my review I thought I would give them another chance since a lot of their staff have left their customer service got a little bit better but their price of clothes are way too expensive and the quality is poor. I bought in shorts and shirts from this location and they have been very poor quality I started going to JCPenney's for their big and tall and their clothes are a lot better and definitely a lot cheaper I found shorts there at JCPenney for about $50 cheaper for the exact same pair and they seem more durable. This store does not honor their coupons. I came in with my husband to get him a birthday gift. I need him with me to make sure his clothes fit properly. I had a coupon. My husband also had a coupon for his birthday from DXL. He was also using it. When we went to pay they said they would only accept one because we were from the same household. On the coupons it does not say one per household. They said that's how they were trained. So just letting everyone know to beware when you have coupons. This place is super expensive in the first place. If this place didn't have a good selection of clothes for my husband I would never come back. But with coupons this place is semi affordable. read more

Destination XL is usually an excellent experience. Since the new store manager has taken the realm, it has decreased in customer service but not by the associates but by the management. The female store manager is not genuine in her approach or sincere in her interactions. She will tell you anything to get the sale. Here is one example. She told me that ANY tie could made into a zipper tie. I have a medical condition and I'm unable to wear traditional ties. She told me to bring in my ties that have been purchased at Destination XL and she would take care of it. In addition to my existing ties, I purchased 4 others. I was excited because I now had more variety and choices. When I returned with my ties, I was informed that wasn't the case. Then she came out to chat with me, and denied ever telling me that. Instead of admitting the truth, she flat out denied it. My career requires me to be on my feet 90% of the time. I have always used one brand name, not sold at DXL, and when I explained to this store manager, she wanted me to try a DXL pair saying "it's better than heaven. They are the most comfortable shoe!" I expressed that I wasn't fond of the brand that the reviews weren't so favorable on comfort. She said," they have redeveloped the sole and materials for comfort." I thought about it and it was half the price of my other brand shoes and was willing to give a try but with her reassurance that I could return them even though they were worn if they did not holdup to the comfort level. She reassured me it wouldn't be an issue and we settled on reasonable amount of time to try them. "Oh you are going to love them, I promise." Were her final words. Alas, the reviews were correct, not comfortable. I called DXL customer service and they said they didn't have any information about a redeveloped shoe, so I called the manufacturer of the shoe. They informed me that I was lied to, they have not redesigned or redeveloped the men's dress shoes in question. I went to return them within my reasonable amount of time and low and behold, she told me I couldn't return them because I had worn them. I explained that we had an agreement and she said although she remembered speaking with me, that they were worn so she would not return them. She again flat out lied to me. I refuse to shop when she is in the store. When I arrive to the store and am greeted by the other amazing associates and then I see her, I literally turn around and walk out. I will post a positive review about the other associates but this woman needs a lesson in exceeding expectations or better yet basic customer service. As does the assistant store manager. I've never seen her smile, always grumpy with a frown. Ugh! read more

I bought four garments from this place. Got home and looked at my receipt and realized I had spent almost $500 on just four things. The quality of which looked like it was made in China. Not far from the stuff I could buy at Walmart. Walked into the store and Leticia the store manager accused of wearing the items. I asked if they were on commission and was informed that indeed they were. Now I know the real problem. While she did eventually return the items after I she realized I wasn't going home and getting vocal in front of the other customers... I really didn't like to be accused of being a liar and trying to return used clothes. And the manner in which she did it publicly and quite rudely to be honest... Just did not sit well with me. It makes me regret ever doing business with these folks. So if you buy things here don't expect them to be there for you if there is a problem. Most of the stuff here is of very low quality at triple the price you would expect to pay. I don't know if this is just this location but I hope this is not indicative of the type of service you would offer your customers if you want to have some in the future. Stay away from this place.!!! The outlet mall is right down the street. I've never been talked to so rude and condescendingly. I was excited to find a great selection of shirts that fit my neck. The problem I have is that all those shirts require alteration. My advise is to NOT let them alter anything. It took two attempts to get the fit correct and now the sleeves on all my shirts are too short. The prices are crazy expensive, but they have a much better selection than any other store. My husband and I came into the store this week to buy him a nice dress shirt for an interview. We tried Kohls but nothing fits him correctly since he's tall and has a wide chest. The staff was really helpful and took their time with him, making sure he found the right item. Unfortunately he is just a little too small for destination xl dress shirts, and he ended up buying a nice polo style shirt that was on sale. Their store is a little pricey but they have quality clothing compared to Kohls where every shirt is see-through. I'm pregnant so it was very sweet of them to offer me water and a nice chair to sit in. We will be returning if he gets the job! read more

Today 4/12/17 came in to buy some jeans and trunks for summer . We often go to several locations including brea and lakewood and often the costumer service is pretty poor . Today we were helped by I believe was Alex and the store manager Andy. Both were so helpful and nice . They were patient and polite . They both were knowledgeable and even suggested a couple tips and suggested a couple items that really made a difference. This is the kind of costumer service all stores should have . The staff here were extremely helpful. I was looking for an executive suit and had trouble deciding. They took their time showing different combinations and worked together as a team to create the best match for what I was looking for. One who was better at ties chose a few for me, they brought over the tailor to discuss options for fit as well. Very happy with my experience here.
