5/28/25 Held on to a gift card since 2018... you heard that right!! Not a huge fan of shopping for shoes coz it's so time consuming! This place is fairly large, plenty of name brand shoes w/ so many sizes & styles. All I'm looking for is some snazzy dressy-type of shoes that are super comfortable. I'm on my feet more than 12 hrs per day at work & wear tennis shoes with insoles from Road Runner Sports from Torrance... so what I want is more of comfort vs style/design. Prices are competitive, good value. I like that there's no high pressure sales person breathing down my neck, free to roam. There are free try-on (hosiery material) socks available, too, which I appreciate. At checkout, Wylie helped me out. She had a bit of problem accessing my very old gift card so a manager had to get involved--she was gracious & effective. I additionally used an American Express gift card I received for Christmas 2023-so I didn't pay a single cent for this transaction, 2 pairs of sandals for $103.29 (one pair was 30% off) All in all, it was a good experience even as I moaned & groaned about finding ones that fit well (wide width, a bit limited but better than most places) without causing pain, looked decent on my not-so-pretty feet & a good value. Found out online they sell EOS lotion and I had a coupon to get $5.00. The lotion is $11.99, so its not much of a deal, as opposed to getting it from Target. I wanted the points on my DSW account, so that's the main reason I got it from there. Otherwise, with the $5.00 off, it would have been the same price at Target. read more

If I could give zero stars I would Not one employee acknowledged me as I walked from the front to the back and then again to the front of the store to exit. One employee came back to where I was to look at me, but still did not ask if I needed help with anything. Needless to say, left without a purchase and was in there to buy something. NO! After breaking my sandal I did a quick search to find the same brand near me. This store came up in my search to carry the sandal I drove to the store and they did have a huge selection. 4 rows of sandals in fact. I was not asked if I needed any help, but chose to stop an employee walking past me I inquired where I might find this brands area. The employee reached out to a nearby manager and then informed me they did not carry the brand. Just because I saw it online does not mean they actually have it I needed a shoe so searched the 4 rows stumbling upon the brand and the sandal. I'm so disappointed... Let me start by saying I love DSW...the online store. However, the brick and mortar stores (at least this particular location) leave much to be desired. The in-store selection of shoes is lacking, and the customer service is terrible. We are in peak holiday shopping season, and there was not one team member walking the floor. The line at the cash wrap was incredibly long, and not moving. Maybe they were short staffed, I don't know, but this not the experience I was hoping. If I could rate this store "0" stars I would- Recently I visited this Ontario store (S-29359) location and was assisted by the store manager Sandra. Absolutely the worst customer service and cannot believe she is an actual manager! I struggled finding a selection and every associate on the floor dodged to assist anyone who was needing to ask a question or greet anyone walking in the store. Sandra was the most unhelpful "manager" as I struggled with holding 5 full large shoe boxes around the entire store while she socialized in the back of the store and boasted to another customer about hiding under the only operating AC Fan in the store!!! The absolute nerve! She left the one cashier struggling by himself with a very long line, while she was taking her sweet time not helping the growing line of customers that just wanting to leave!! First time I went to this place and it was bad. I could smell some unwelcoming odor as I walked towards the end of the store. Place is not brightly lit. Shoes and boxes were littered on the floor, which brings me to point out to other shoppers to be respectful enough to return the shoes or boxes to where they picked it up. This is a fantastic location. I had a great experience recently here when I had to return some pairs that I ordered online. Alexandra was the employee who assisted me and she was wonderful. I had several transactions from a few orders and she was meticulous in doing the returns. They have a great selection and are always willing to order a size if they don't have it in stock. Deliveries are always made quickly and you cannot beat DSW prices. This location is in a large strip mall with a Target, some fast food spots, and other larger stores. There's lots of parking. I was swimming in a sea of shoes. Many options, sadly, the perfect shoes were not in my size. I did find some new running shoes but not the dress shoes I wanted. I found them in brown but not black. Not a total loss, knowing the size really helped me. I was able to go on Zappos and purchase the shoes in black. Thank you DSW for letting me try the proper size which assisted me with my purchase on-line ;o) Staff is friendly and the place was well organized. I could not pick up my order, so I called and had my husband added to my order. With my confirmation information and his ID we had no problems. They carry a wide variety of shoes from casual to work-appropriate to dressy. The struggle between "wants" and "needs" was really strong here! There are aisles and aisles of shoes to choose from. The back portion of this store is dedicated to clearance shoes. I found what I was looking for...and then some! I had a few boxes of brown flat shoes in my hands and I really wanted all of them, but convinced myself to get the thing that I actually needed. The one pair I decided to buy was $25 and I had a $5 DSW birthday coupon. The price was right and the shoes were cute! Ordered some shoes for my wife for Christmas back in the beginning of December. Standard shipping 2 weeks, no problem they will be here before the 23rd. Today I check online to see the status after not receiving them to find out that dsw canceled my order the day after I ordered them without sending me any kind of notification. No email in any folder. What an absolute joke of a company. I call customer service and am told that the order was canceled because the item was out of stock. What a complete mess, allowing me to purchase items you don't actually have and no notification of any of this. I will never purchase from this company again. read more

Be very careful of their VIP system; the salesman kept asking for my email, phone and address at the store, and told me I'd get a $10 discount on my next purchase for each one I provided for $30 total. When I tried to redeem these it turned out he had lied and no one at DSW support could get me the promised discounts. I don't know if he gets rewarded for getting peoples contact info, but he was extremely clear about the total of $30 rewards, repeated it several times, and the DSW support now says they never provide more than $10 reward total. The store was the only one locally that carried the shoes I wanted, to try them on, but from now on I'll just order from the brand to avoid supporting a sales team who would lie repeatedly to get peoples' personal information for advertising. read more

Joshua 'helped'me buy Dr.Martens and when purchasing, went to the back to grab the 2nd shoe since there was one in the box. When he came back after taking awhile, he PURPOSEFULLY put the wrong shoe and I purchased without knowing at first but found out right after. I purchased "new" Nike sneakers from DSW online. They showed up today completely filthy on the bottom. These shoes have clearly been worn. They even have dirt on the side of the heel where shoes tend to wear from driving. If I was comfortable wearing shoes someone else has worn, I would have bought used Nike's for 1/2 the price. read more

The customer service in store is pretty good. The quality of the shoes isn't worth the higher price paid. VIP rewards can help, but more often than not shoes I returned them because of subpar quality upon closer inspection in person. I have had usually good experiences with purchases and returns in store. read more

Zero accountability. Bought a pair of boots I used 4-6 times and walked less than half a kilometer in before they started breaking down while still brand new. I order online at dsw and been charged twice. 1st automatically charged you after when the order is ready to be shipped charge you again. First time I ignore it. Second time I tracked to make sure which I was right. I called them and asked why and told me that " it's not them it's my bank because they only charge once when the order has been shipped" so ignore it again a called my bank. My bank told me that it's not them. And to call again dsw. I did again order online this time I took screenshot of my before and after account balance and took again when they charged me twice again. I called again and ask same scenario again and again. Then I asked a friend to shop using her card with a different bank. I ordered online and received scuffed, used shoes. It's even more evident that they are used from where they were sent from- "Returns Processing." They sent me returned shoes that someone obviously wore before returning them. I called to exchange them (I waited 19 minutes on hold) and they will not be here in time for the event I needed them for so now I must return for a refund. Which means, I must take time out of my day to drive to a DSW and return the shoes AND try to find new shoes for my event. I usually go in with one pair in mind, and end up walking out with three or four. Once you sign up for DSW Rewards, it's just goes downhill from there. You will never purchase regular priced shoes again! Having shopped at many DSWs, I have to say that when I walked into the one at Ontario Piedmont my eyes almost bulged out of my sockets. The maroon walls, chandeliers, and darkwood floors add a touch of glam to the store that scream bling on a budget and brings posh to a whole new level, of course a frugal one. If your hubby happens to get dragged along, he can probably catch his latest ESPN zone update on the phat plasma displayed. I'm not sure what all the hoopla is about. Sure, they have a lot of shoes, moderately priced (it's obviously not Payless), but the experience my wife and I had at this particular location was ridiculous. We were getting ready to see the Phantom of the Opera in LA and decided to get all decked out (I bought a new suit) and she wanted some new shoes. My wife purchased two pairs of shoes, not sure which ones would go with her dress, and decided to take the unused pair back a few days later. When my wife returned the unused pair, the tags were left on the shoes, the box was intact, nothing was out of place, yet the store would not allow her to return the shoes because she lost the receipt. Instead, my wife suggested that she receive a store credit, but the clerk would not allow it. During the altercation, the store clerk was completely rude and obnoxious - it's obvious she wasn't trained in CUSTOMER SERVICE. The whole situation was overly ridiculous and we haven't shopped at a DSW Shoes since. No thank you! Look, having a great selection of shoes, with wooden floors, etc. isn't the only thing that makes a great business. My wife and I work hard for our money (as do most of us) and we expect great customer service when entering a store like DSW Shoes, but it simply wasn't happening. Shop at a store! I ordered online from the clearance section. The shoes arrived and were in an unadorned (non-branded), flimsy cardboard box. Looking the shoes over, the bottoms were dirty enough that I could see they had been lightly worn. Inside the shoes was hair from the person who had worn them! I contacted DSW and they told me they had been on display in TN. I had the shoes reshipped, and I (drove an hour and) returned the shoes on an excursion. When the next package arrived, the shoes were packed in a branded box, but the top was sliced off at the back. The shoes had dirt specks on the bottom. Inside was again hair, including a long strand of hair in the box. And outside on the bottom of the box was the remnant of Christmas wrapping paper. Unacceptable. I've never had this happen to me ordering online. And I will never order shoes online from DSW again, clearanced or new. read more
