It's actually pretty sad because this place actually has decent pizza but their costumer service and employees are honestly horrible. I'm not one to bash local businesses but this one deserves it. Every experience I've had at this establishment has been extremely bad due to the employees. Here is just one of my bad experiences. I showed up at dutchy's with some friends, we walked up to the counter to order but we were only greeted with bad attitude. The person helping us seemed to like to roll their eyes rather than hurry up and get our order in. After we were FINALLY done ordering we went to sit down and waited 40 minutes and finally got our pizza. And it was BURNT like EXTREMELY BURNT like they cooked it for 2 hours too long. Naturally, in fear of dying from black lung we went to ask for properly cooked pizza and the shitty cashier goes "i don't see anything wrong with it" I wanted to say I DONT GIVE A DAMN WHAT YOU SEE but being the respectful person i am i laughed it off and walked away after waiting another 40 minutes for a decently cooked piece of pizza I decided to boycott dutchys and share my experience with everyone i can warn. I never write these, but I felt like I had to in this case. Let me start out by saying that I like their pizza; this is a negative post because of a bad experience. I called ahead of time and asked if it was okay if I brought some people in for a game night. The person on the phone said it was fine. When we get there, my friends and I all order food. They order a few slices and a sandwich, I order a whole pizza to share since I'm hosting the game night. I ask if we can move a couple of tables together, and they tell me no. I say that's fine, that I'll just take my pizza to go and go play somewhere else when it's ready. My three friends and I sit down at a table and start playing a game while we wait. We are approached by a kid who works there telling us that he thought that we agreed we weren't going to be playing games and that the dining area is reserved for dining. My friends were eating their slices and I was waiting on my pizza. We were paying customers, and we were told that we couldn't play a game on a single table that we were eating at. It made for a very negative experience and pretty much felt like he was kicking us out. I will be boycotting this place from now on and telling everyone I know to do the same. read more

Horrible customer service. Way overpriced. Crust tastes like nothing; if I had to describe it is chewy water. They used to be good when they first started, but have gone down hill from their quality in food to their customer service. There sure is the east coast attitude there, with the west coast greed- but surely is not east coast grade food. Stumbled on this place starving with the pup and found Dutchy's to be incredibly dog friendly. Outdoor seating is limited, but owner ran out with a big dog treat and made sure there was fresh water out for our pupper. Pizza was great and the lunch special was perfect - 2 slices of pizza & a $1 off your beer. We'll definitely be back for more pizza soon! read more

I am so appreciative of the fact that you guys serve vegan pizza. The sauce is amazing, and the staff is super nice. But please, take better care with your crusts. Probably 80% of the time, my crust is burned and inedible. The pizza I got most recently looks like it was hit with an asteroid. I'm not sure if the ovens are old or if the weekend rush means that pizzas are left in too long or crammed too closely together while baking, but I know I personally would rather have a longer waiting time for a properly-cooked pizza. Still the best option in Humboldt for vegan pizza, so I'll happily keep eating here. read more

Great thin crispy crust and generous toppings. We got it to go to eat in our hotel room for dinner. Ordered a salad as well to amp up the veggies but it was not that interesting and the "Italian" dressing really ruined it. I will skip the salad next time. Friendly service. We ordered Hot wings, and a half Hawaiian half pepperoni. We loved the wings. The pizza wasn't our favorite. We didn't like the crust. The pizza wasn't cooked long enough. Great pizza! ..for CA. Pizza rating: 7.2/10. Sample size: 2-3 dozen orders. However: over priced, very cheap with toppings, and not the greatest service. For example, last order asked for "lots of onions on large cheese pizza". Wound up paying $22 to pick up a cold pizza they told me would take 35 minutes (clearly it had been done for 20 minutes when I picked it up on time though). I love this place because it caters to everyone, including vegans and the pizza is good, as is the service. I've tried the cheese and the hot goat which were both great. I also ordered a vegan pizza for some kids at my son's bday party and it was very tasty. I would have given this place 5 stars but for the ever-present onions on the daily slices (with the exception of cheese and pepperoni, almost all the slices have onions). It keeps me from trying the specials and falling in love with a new pizza at Dutchy's, and because not everyone is a fan of onions on pizza, they might consider adding them when the pizza is heated up, making them optional. Not really sure what the bad reviews were about. I always do pickup when in northern Cali, they simply don't know how to do delivery right. After reading a couple Yelp reviews I knew I had to try the goat as I love goat cheese. The spicy honey drizzle was spot on and added a nice contrast. The help was nice and professional. The ambience was hipster Arcadia I guess. Basically just your grand mommas house gutted and turned into a tiny pizza restaurant. But that pizza though! Perfectly baked thin crust hot melted goat and honey drizzle. The price is right but a small selection of sliced pizza and unfortunately you can't add toppings to the slices. I had one of their farmers market specials it was actually really yummy I ended up getting another slice. I love that they have bottled Dr. pepper too. We were visiting Trinidad and looking for a good nearby pizza place. There aren't many options near but this is worth the 15 min drive! We enjoyed a few special pizzas by the slice and of course the Hot Goat (amazing!! ) and the kids loved their cheese pizza. They had some good drinks including soda by the bottle, no soda maker which is fine by us, some good wine and beer choices for reasonable prices. I have no idea what any of the previous reviewers who've bad mouthed this place are talking about! I'm the type of person that regardless of bad reviews, I check it out anyway. Especially if it's a vegan pizza parlor because since I've become fully lactose intolerant 2-3 yrs ago, I've been looking for that perfect pizza replacement. I'm happy to announce that I've found it! We ordered the pepperoni vegan pizza and it was so delicious! The spices, crust and CHEESE, which is the most important part for me! I cannot believe it wasn't real pizza! Service was friendly, quick, and the price for a small pizza was only $12, I tipped an extra $2. If you're looking for something like Pizza Hut, this place isn't for you. I can definitely tell it's on the healthier end of food and I'm going to take a wild guess and say the reviewers who had bad things to say about it weren't looking for that. We've been here every time we're in the area. There's some really good pizza places in Arcata, CA, but Dutchy's is by far, the best! The Tomato Pie takes us back East to NY and NJ and rates with the pizza places that are the International rage as far as American pizza goes. They have specialty pizzas and slices available for my friends that like a gourmet pizza, but the basic pizza is the best I've had since the last time I was on the East Coast. Dutchys vegan pizza is so delicious, I love going into the building with a bunch of quarters ready to play Ms Pac-Man. They are open later than most places in Arcata! The vegan margarita is delicious but so is a classic vegan cheese. The pizza is crispy and perfect 7/10 times. Dutchys is also nice a clean and they have a bathroom. read more
